MEET THE AUTHOR
Jessica Calla is a contemporary romance and women’s fiction author who leaves her Christmas lights up and glowing on her porch all year long. Although Jessicaโs passion is reading and writing about love and relationships deep into the night hours, she moonlights during the day as an attorney. If sheโs not writing, lawyering, or parenting, youโll most likely find her scrolling through her Twitter feed, binge-watching Netflix, or gulping down way too much caffeine (sometimes all three at once). A Jersey girl through and through, she resides in the central part of the state with her handsome husband, two charming sons, and a princess dog.

BLURB
Sterling GoldenโCocky football star. Rich Playboy with a secret. Guy Iโd most like to throat-punch. The cherry on top? Iโm stuck pretending to be this d-bagโs girl for the next few months.
When I spotted him sneaking out the Deanโs windowโa woman whose reputation precedes herโI couldโve minded my business. But itโs not every day you catch your nemesis in such a compromising position, so I did what any self-respecting person wouldโve done.
I added fuel to the scandal that ignited, then laughed while the cops hauled him off in nothing but handcuffs and his boxers.
Of course, the arrogant prick found a way to rope me into the lie that got him out of trouble. Which means the only way I come out of this unscathed is to go along with it, pretend weโre a thing.
Most girls would kill to be on the arm of a Golden triplet, but Iโm counting down the days until itโs over. In public, we give the city the show they craveโa chance to witness their local bad boy falling in love. But when weโre alone, the gloves come off and we give each other hell.
Only, who knew exchanging insults and cruelty could feel a bit likeโฆ foreplay?
Thereโs an expiration date on this arrangement, but as we turn up the heat to convince our city this โrelationshipโ is the real deal, Sterling and I sometimes forget that it isnโt. He might think his recent fall from grace was a disaster, but if he makes me regret this, I swear Iโll make his life a living hell.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twiceโฆ your belongings might mysteriously catch fire.
Consider this your final warning, Mr. Silver, because itโs the only one youโll get.
***
Mr. Silver is a full-length standalone novel (roughly 100k words). This book can absolutely be read on its own, but for the sake of flow and clarity, itโs recommended that you start with book one, THE GOLDEN BOYS (a bully romance trilogy within this series).
Do you love the frustratingly hot push and pull of a good enemies-to-lovers romance? Then youโll love getting to know Sterling and Lexi. Due to adult themes and sexual situations, this oneโs only for the 18+ crowd.

Reading this book, I couldn’t decide who I loved more; Sterling or Lexi. It kept switching depending on what we found out about their lives. Lexi is SASS personified but Sterling is cocky as cocky can be. So of course their story was going to be explosive. Oil and water and all that. Although were they really all that different?
Sterling portrays himself to be an unbothered, cocky, ladies man and while some of that is true; I wouldn’t say he’s unbothered. He’s bothered by his dad and the scandal he brought upon the Golden name. And surprisingly, Lexi is the person who seems to be the safest space for him to be his true self. Which Sterling ends up being the space Lexi needs also. She’s so used to being “the disappointment” of her family, that she has taken to hiding her true self, including why she’s done the things she’s done.
I loved reading Lexi and Sterling’s story and can’t wait for more!
5 stars!

Knox McKinnis removed the halter from his big bay gelding and swatted him on the rump. The horse trotted off into the wheat pasture, seemingly unaffected by the long day sorting cattle on the 11,200-acre McKinnis ranch near the tiny town of Rule in north Texas. So close to west Texas that it shared the wild, desert landscape, the McKinnis property had its share of mesquite trees and prickly pear cactus. But the hardy natural grasses grew healthy white-tailed deer for the hunters that the ranch hosted each year and robust Black Angus cattle that were his fatherโs pride.ย
After returning the halter to the big metal barn, he paused before entering the ranch house. Jessicaโs SUV was parked out front, which meant that his sister was back from the airport in Abilene. Should he head into Haskell for dinner? Meeting some stranger from New York wasnโt high on his list after a hard day in the saddle. But what he really wanted was a shower and to hit the sack early. Better go in and get it over with.
As soon as he entered the big kitchen where everyone was already seated at the table, he locked eyes with Jessicaโs friend. Gritting his teeth, he steeled himself to show no reaction at her revealing outfit, a lime-green satin jacket over a black crocheted top with holes easily two inches wide. Her tiny beige bra showed clearly underneath it. Was that what passed for acceptable fashion in New York? He slid his glance away and headed to the sink to wash his hands.ย
When he took his seat at the table, Jessica spoke up. โHey, brother, Iโd like you to meet my friend, Sadie Stewart. Sadie, this is my big brother, Knox.โ
Keeping his face neutral out of respect for his baby sister, he nodded. โPleased to meet you, maโam.โ
Sadie raised her eyebrows. โIโm only twenty-six. Am I a maโam already?โ
He didnโt look at her, instead serving himself a steak. โIn Texas, all women are maโam.โ
โWell, isnโt that nice.โย
But she didnโt sound like she thought it was nice. She sounded condescending. Who did she think she was? He served himself from the rest of the dishes without comment, already taking a healthy dislike to the Northerner. He took a bite of his fried potatoes and noticed that she only had a plate of salad in front of her. What the hell? Was she too good for his familyโs country food? He glanced up and noticed Jessica watching him.
โSadieโs a vegetarian,โ she said.
He stifled a groan. Of course she was. He didnโt acknowledge his sisterโs comment, merely took a bite of green beans.ย
โDonโt they have good Black Angus steaks in New York, Sadie?โ his dad asked.
Sadie smiled. โIโm sure they do, Jeb. I just donโt eat them.โ
โNo wonder youโre so skinny. A person could get sickly going without good beef,โ his father replied with a smile.
She obviously didnโt take his comment personally because she returned his dadโs smile. โI get plenty of protein, Jeb, I just donโt eat animals in the process.โ
Knox restrained himself from rolling his eyes. He took a quick bite of potatoes. This city-slicker was going to get on his nerves every time she opened her mouth, and the sooner he left the table the better.
Maddie, Knoxโs mom, and always the peacemaker in the house, spoke up. โTo each his own, I say. Sadie, I have to get groceries in Abilene this week. Why donโt you come with me and weโll make sure you have plenty of meal choices from now on, okay?โ
โThat sounds wonderful, Maddie. Thank you.โ She looked genuinely appreciative, and this appeased Knox some. But still. A vegetarian? Come on.
โSo, how was your flight, Sadie?โ his mother asked.
โIt was fine. I guess I do so much of it that I donโt pay much attention to flying anymore. The only thing that got my pulse racing was a tight time frame for my plane switch in Dallas. The little commuter I took to Abilene wasnโt crowded, though, so that was nice.โ
โWell, weโre sure glad you got here safely,โ his mom replied.
โItโs great to be here, Maddie. Thanks so much for having me. This is a beautiful place. Iโve heard so much about Texas, and I canโt wait to see a real working cattle ranch.โ
ย He pressed his lips together. Damn. That didnโt sound good. Did Jessica have plans for the two of them to follow him around?ย
โSadie and Iโll do the cleanup after dinner, mom,โ Jessica offered.
Sadieโs head bobbed up, and her eyes widened in surprise.
He grimaced. What? Was she too good to do some dishes?
โUm, do you have gloves?โ Sadie asked.
โI donโt think so, but we can get some. You can dry tonight,โ his sister answered.
Sadie smiled. โThat sounds perfect.โ
Well, he had to give it to her. Sheโd taken that in stride. Maybe there was more to the woman than met the eyes. He finished the last of his food and went to the sink to rinse off his plate.ย
โIt was nice meeting you, Knox.โ
He put his plate in the dishwasher before replying. โWelcome to the McKinnis Ranch, Miss Stewart.โ
โOh, call me Sadie, please.โ
He nodded. โGood evening, Sadie.โ He strode from the room, wondering just how long the strange woman from New York City would be staying.

โYou sure you wanna do this?โ He bumped her arm with his. She had slipped his coat back over her shoulders, and now she held the coat tightly around her middle. โI want to do this.โ โDo we have a story?โ he asked as they hurried up the two steps and the sidewalk to the front door. Through the windows, Grant saw rooms crowded with people of all ages and sizes. The current song was something by Elvis. A Christmas tree lit up the corner of the front room. Several people held Solo cups. โThink thereโs a keg?โ she asked quietly. โMaybe.โ He leaned close to the window to see better. โDoesnโt look like an all-college crowd, though.โ โCollege kids donโt have the corner on kegs.โ She shrugged. โDo we have a story?โ he asked again. โLetโs wing it.โ She tugged at his arm and pulled him to the door. Seconds after Grant rang the bell, the door swung open. Zoey peeked up at him as a young kid leaned around the door with a sloppy grin. He didnโt particularly look of age, but he did look smashed. โHey! Cโmin.โ The kid backed up and threw a hand out in welcome. โZipโs in the kitchen, man. Grab a drink.โ โGreat.โ Grant ushered Zoey inside and then closed the door. Small groups of people everywhere yelled to be heard over the deafening music. Grant reached for Zoeyโs hand, pleased when she linked her fingers in his and followed him. The kitchen was obviously in the back of the house, so Grant led her that way. The wooden door swung closed behind them. More people gathered around the island counter, but the music was a bit quieter in here. โHey.โ A tall bald guy nodded at them. Since he was surrounded by peopleโfour girls and two guysโGrant decided he might be Zip. โHow ya doinโ, Zip?โ he asked with a knowing smile. โWhereโve you been, man? Havenโt seen you in ages.โ Zip stepped forward and offered Grant his hand. โNo kidding.โ Grant shook his hand. โBeen around. Same old same old.โ โAinโt that the truth.โ Zip nodded enthusiastically. โGrab a drink. Catch up. I think Dougโs out back. Bet you havenโt seen him in years.โ โI havenโt!โ Grant suppressed a laugh when Zoey squeezed his hand. โRemember Zoey?โ He pulled her in close to him. โHey, yes!โ Zip left the group he had been talking to and approached them with open arms. He swallowed Zoey up in a big hug and then gave Grant a bro hug, complete with a slap on the back. โFancy digs, guys.โ He stepped back to eye Grantโs vest and Zoeyโs dress. โWell.โ Grant aimed a sheepish grin at Zoey. โWe eloped tonight.โ โSay what?โ Zoey looked at him with wild eyes, as if she seconded what Zip had said.

Jamie Begley –ย “I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and education.
โTaking after my mother, I’ve always loved to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.
For now, my days are spent writing, writing, and writing. I have two children, my daughter is also an author, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.
All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best.โ
