My world was decadent, if not lonely. Raised by an aging Blue Blooded sycophant, I couldn’t stomach the idea of a forced marriage.

So I ran.

Took on the world one, two at a time, with one goal in mind. To come.

To feel my blood boil, my heart race and my body transcend to something-anything worth living for before their private dick catches up with me.

Jumping my cruise ship to a resort town in Mexico, I thought I was good. Thought I could disappear and resume my chase of debaucheries and delights.

Then I met him.

The monster of a man that has promised to do all I need. The catch? He wants my trust and complete obedience. Can I give up control in pursuit of my desires? Can I swallow my defiance and surrender to him or will my past arise and leave me as always— wanting?

Note: Contains cameos from the main characters in J. Haney & S.I. Hayes’ Island Heir. While not required reading they do hope you may want to know Ian and Autumn’s story!

Nope, nope, no. No fucking way. This has been my mantra, my resolve for the last one hundred and four days. On New Year’s Eve, I met a man. A nice man, and at midnight I even let him kiss me. The following morning, as I helped myself to breakfast, I was told a match had been made. Not only was I to date this man, but within the year, I was to marry and become Missus Oscar Edmundo Rodriguez Suarez.

I don’t think so!

I did the only thing a girl raised by her Abuela can. I cried. I swore. I booked a cruise. By the fifth, I said goodbye to Fort Lauderdale and hello deep blue sea. I have eaten, licked, flicked, sucked but not fucked my way around the world. This cherry is and has always been cock free. Not for lack of want, but for lack of passion. I have yet to find a man or woman that can make me come. If they can’t do it by hand, why the fuck would I let them try with anything else? I can’t even get myself there. It’s a hopeless case, but I’m still trying.

I’m free at the moment, but that is slowly changing. I talked to my sister Ambery, and they have decided to come to get me off the ship. Well, fuck that. Five hundred American and a hand job can get you a motorboat to the nearest island. Goodbye, Cruise, and hello Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

“It’s the middle of the night, Miss Jai. Are you sure you won’t rather have stayed on the boat?”

“You’re sweet, Miguel, but this is how it must end.” I kiss his cheek as he unloads the three bags I have carried with me for just a day over five months. My big roller duffel and my tote. Packing anything more, and I wouldn’t have gotten away as cleanly as I had.

I secure it all and start my walk up the beach toward the lights of the Vallarta Heirs, an offshoot of the Georgetown Heirs private suits in the Caymans. I stayed there a few years back and had a lovely experience. Let’s hope I get a similar one tonight. The walk is not simple in the sand, and once I hit the cobblestone, it’s not much easier. The Whitestone buildings rise like silent sentinels calling me to safety.

“Aye, Mami.”

I hear catcalled from behind me. I knew I should have put on pants instead of the short joggers I have on, but I wasn’t thinking about anything but escape. I can’t risk them finding me, dragging me back to a loveless marriage. I won’t do that. Never. I want love and fire. Passion and sex. God, do I just want to have a person ravage me until my legs turn to jelly and my insides overflow until there is nothing more than a puddle where I once stood.

I pick up my pace and reach into my tote; I grip my taser. I don’t fuck around. I have a police issue that will make any man piss himself with a single charge. I can hear them coming.

Deep breaths, I feel one grab my hair, taser in hand before I spin.

Zap!

I hit—what is that a fucking tree? Shit! Timber! This huge man falls, and down we go. I can hear the other men yelling.

“Perra blanca loca!”

Crazy white bitch? “Yeah!” I shove the man off me as he groans. It’s then that I see he’s not—well-a Mexican accoster. His shirt is open, and his muscles are still contracting from the zap I gave him. “Shit. I’m sorry! If you puke, you’ll feel better.”

“Fuck Darlin’.” The man groans. “I was only tryin’ to make sure you weren’t—” He huffs, blinking away the pain. “Molested.”

I bite my lip with worry as he notices what I promised would happen. He’s pissed himself. ‘Do-do you have a room nearby?”

“Why? So you can hit me again, then take my money and my shit?”

“Fuck you!” I throw a hundred bucks at him and, grabbing my bags, storm away, muttering. “Cock sucking, asshole. Try and make up for shit, and they gotta be mother-fucking jackasses.”

Chapter 1 Willow

You bastard. What a scumbag! You fucked some white trash whore in my bed! Have you lost your fuckin’ mind?” I grab the whore who is scrambling to get her clothes by the hair, dragging her—naked as a jaybird—kicking and screaming through my house. Tossing her out the front door, I storm back to the bedroom where Joshua is putting on his underwear. Taking off the engagement ring, I toss, hitting him square in the eye. “Here, I know I don’t need this, now get the fuck outta my house!”

“Baby, I’m sorry. It just—happened.”

“What, she fell and slipped on your micro dick repeatedly?”

He’s got his pants on and is going for his shirt. “You know what? I’m not going to apologize. I’m sick of living with a frigid cow.”

“Thank God! It’s not like you’d mean it if you kept it up. Get on out, and I will pack your shit.” I say, walking him to the door before opening it. “Ta- ta now!” He goes to speak, and I slam the door in his face.

I hear a muffled cunt through the door as I’m walking to where I laid my purse on the counter—opening it to pull my phone out, hitting Jasper’s name. Jasper’s my GBF. You know, Gay Best Friend.

“Sweet-tart, I just left you. You can’t be missing me already.”

“The bastard had some white trash trailer park whore in my bed!”

“Ooh-take the octave down a tad—I’m turning around. I’ll be there in a few minutes. What do you want me to bring to drink?”

“The whole damn liquor store and I’m gonna call that taco place we like.”

“Make sure you get the cinnamon churros and chipotle fish tacos.”

“Don’t I always?”

“That’s my girl.”

“Just get here and watch for the naked whore walking down the street.”

I hang up the phone then immediately call for delivery. Thinking back on the last ten years—Joshua and I were coming up on our ninth anniversary—almost half of it we’d been engaged.

Once Jasper makes it to the house, I tell him what went down, from me walking in the door and seeing it to everything that was said. “What a way to celebrate my twenty-eighth birthday.”

Jasper is looking at me with a finger against his pursed tan lips. “Did he take the ring with him?”

“I think it’s in the bedroom on the floor.” He gets up, bouncing off to the bedroom. “Hey, what are you doing?” I yell over my shoulder.

“I’m getting us a payday!” He shouts.

Bennett

“You cocksucking mother fucker. Who the fuck do you think you are?” For such a little girl, she certainly talks salty. I may have smashed out her back windshield with the head of my cane.

“I gave you a choice. I don’t give a shit about you. I do, however, have a fifty percent right to those puppies. I looked it up, and Doberman Husky hybrids are also known as Dobsky’s and go for up to a grand apiece. From what I saw in that ultrasound, you are putting over six thousand dollars in danger. That’s a felony if she miscarries due to your negligence.”

“You have no right to anything! You-you oh- go fuck your couch.”

“So, I assume the next thing you will be telling me is you’re Rick James.” Her fuck your couch reference was from a comedy sketch by one Dave Chapelle. “You said I was half responsible for them. You have chosen to let her keep them; you are now obligated to do what is in her best interest. That-” I point at the wind tunnel of a car. “Is not, nor would it ever be in her best interest.” I am damn near screaming at her. I very rarely give a shit about anything enough to raise my voice, but when I saw the dog in the cold, I lost my shit.

“You made it a God damned wind tunnel. We were warm for crying out loud. She’s fucking fed, watered and walked multiple times a day. She’s anything but fucking neglected. My car now needs a new window. Thanks for that. So much for getting a new place. Why don’t you just go rot in hell!”

“You are a stubborn and selfish child. You are going to grab your shit, and we are going back to my place. Once there, we will draw up a contract, and you will perform duties in my home. In exchange, I will provide food, hot water, and lodgings for you and Mia. I will also cover all of her veterinary and dietary needs. Weekends will be your own, and I will pay you eleven hundred dollars each week, once the puppies are born and homed you may go as you please with all of your earnings. Is that understood? Or would you rather see her wind up in a shelter because someone else spots this situation, calls the Dog Warden, and you get arrested for abuse?” I start to walk toward her car and the whining dog. I pull the door open and unlock the passenger side before getting into it myself. I don’t drive, and I don’t intend to.

She takes the cover she’s been using and folds it into the back before moving the stuff in the back seat behind it. Making sure the glass is all covered. Patting the back seat for the dog, she gets her covered with blankets, before finally getting in the driver’s seat. She doesn’t even say another word as she starts the car.

“There. Was that so hard?”

“I’d rather you not talk to me at this moment if you don’t mind.”

Any book with dogs or cats, I’m in for. Well mostly. Anyway, once I saw dogs, I was in. I will be honest from the get go, as a board member of various Spay Neuter non-profits, the fact that these dogs weren’t fixed bugged me. But that’s my own thing. But still, spay and neuter your pets! Ok, end of PSA.

Bennett is definitely reclusive millionaire. I sort of thought of him like Beast in Beauty and the Beast. Hidden away, not wanting guests or friends, almost hermit-like. Except Clover wasn’t a Belle. She was sassy and feisty and I loved her dog Mia and her name.

Bennett and Clover are as opposite as they could ever be but they’re sorta stuck with each other while Mia was pregnant with the puppies. But over time, they start to tolerate and even like each other.

This was a good, light-hearted read that kept me entertained.

Clover

February first and there’s more snow. In Condor Washington, it’s barely ever sunny. So, we’re used to rain and snow. I’ve got work in about two hours, so I need to take my one-year-old husky, Mia for her morning walk. I stomp the ground to get her attention. See, Mia is deaf, and I’ve had to teach her tricks. Certain signs mean certain things. She understands them. We’ve been working on them since she was six weeks old. I make the sign for a walk. It’s my pointer, and middle finger pointed down and looks like they’re walking. She barks, even as pitiful as it might sound she tries. Grabbing her leash. I hook her up, and off we go. We always walk at least three times a day because while I’m at work, she stays penned in our little apartment. We don’t live in a bad neighborhood. We’re surrounded by decent-sized houses. With my apartment building being one of two. It’s nothing like where I grew up. Where you weren’t sure if you were going to eat tomorrow or not. I went hungry more often than not.

I’m checking my schedule this morning. It’s usually what our morning walk consists of. Schedules. That’s what happens when you have to work to keep a roof over your head.

Mia’s leash slips from my hand, and she’s gone. Damnit! I’d yell, but it would fall on deaf ears. Pushing my phone into my pocket, I take off running. I hate running. Who am I kidding? I hate all exercise. It’s why my ass is a little flabby, and I’ve got a small pudge on the front.

The tip of my boot hits a dip in the snow. Down I go knee and face-first into it. Son of a bitch! It takes me a minute to get off the ground, and I’m gone again. I hear dogs. Are they mating? You’ve got to be kidding me! Please be another Husky. Coming upon them, that is no Husky. No. Of course not! There goes breeding her for money.

“Marius! Heel!” I look up as I hear a man’s voice. Dark hair, scruffy face. He’s coming down the stairs.

I take a step toward the dogs, and the Doberman that has my poor Mia mounted turns on me. “Easy puppy. I’m not trying to hurt you.” I stop moving and speak calmly.

“Marius! Damnit! Get a life!” The man hollers, and this white devil trots off like he wasn’t just about to eat me! The man reaches the bottom of the stairs and just looks at me, all out of breath, clutching his right knee.

I move to Mia, squatting on the ground next to her. I hold my hand up for her to stay then turn my palm up for her to sit, and she does. I look up at the guy just watching me. “I’m incredibly sorry. She got away from me.”

“Obviously. You know if you can’t control her, maybe a harness would be better than that cheap-ass collar?”

“Her collar is just fine. I could have stopped her had she been able to see me.” I stand from the snow.

“You appear to be bleeding.” He turns back toward the stairs. “It should be looked at.”

“I’m sure I’ll be fine. I need to get Mia home before your dog attacks her again.”

“If it comes into our yard, it belongs to us. We have the gates and the hedges for a reason.”

“That’s delusional! Who are you some crazy who thinks you have all the rights in the world because you have the money to blow on a big fucking house? Get a life.”

Woof! Woof!

Suddenly I’m being knocked to the ground, and that fucking dog is on me! Jesus Christ! “Get off!” I cover my face as the dog licks and kisses me. He’s lifted off, and I’m pulled to my feet. This guy has got to have ten inches on me!

“You are asking for it, aren’t you?” He gripes. “I just told him to go, and you call him back?” He huffs, looking me over. He grabs my head. “You need medical attention. I have a first aid kit. Come inside, that pup needs water look at her panting.”

“What do you expect? Your dog mounted her!” I want to scream but don’t.

“I’m sure she’s fine, I don’t think he had time to finish.” He takes my hand, pulling me, that’s when I notice the cane.

“Stop for a second.” He stops, and I turn back to Mia, giving her the hand gesture for come, and she walks along beside me.

“Up.” He commands the dog, and up the stairs, he goes. It takes a moment to get up with him and the cane, but once we do, he hands me a towel. “For her paws and coat.”

“Thank you.” I take it and turn, giving Mia the sign for heel, which is my hand on my hip. I wipe her down. He does the same for his, and then opens a set of doors.

“Marius, get food.” The dog takes off into the house, and he closes the doors, crossing me to a second set. “We’re going in here, best to keep them apart, I assume.”

“I would think so.” I walk into and shut the door.

It’s as he hobbles off that I get a look around. We’re in his room. He goes into another room. My eyes are darting around. Mia has seemed to find water and food. Why did he bring me in here? Then it dawns on me what he said. If it comes into our yard, it belongs to us. Dear God, please don’t let him try to attack me. I’d never be able to make him stop. Nothing is red or black, so maybe he’s not into kinky shit. Instead, it’s a white carpet with cream walls—a wooden bed with gold bedding. I’m rooted to a spot. I can’t seem to make myself move.

“Are you okay?” His voice emerges from the room ahead before him. He’s carrying a small white box with a big red cross on it. “Sit over there.” He points with a finger toward a chaise lounge in the room. “The light is better.”

“I’m not having intercourse with you,” I state boldly.

He furrows his brow confusedly, “Um good, I should hope you don’t go around having intercourse with random strangers. Unless you’re being paid to, of course.”

“God, no!” I feel my cheeks heat. “You’re not going to try to attack me, right? Like your dog did to Mia.”

“I assure you there will be no mounting occurring in this room today.” He smiles sheepishly. “Now come sit, I won’t bite.”

My face heats up more as I slowly walk across the room to a chaise lounge. Sitting, I wince as bending my knee all the way appears to hurt. He grabs my face, and standing over me, he brushes the hair out of my face. He huffs.

“You’ve got gravel in here, we need to rinse it, you’ll have to come into the bathroom. Follow me.” He sounds so thrilled. I get up and am now limping just like him. Great, he’s gonna think I’m making fun.

Bennett

Drinks went down with minimal scathing; it’s dinner where things take their turn.

“Tell me, Bennett, how is it that a man as easy on the eyes, and rich as you stays on the market?” Sydney asks. I’m guessing the bourbon loosened her tongue a tad and from the looks of it the top three buttons of her blouse.

“I’m not much for socializing, short of dinner here once in a while I hardly leave my home.”

She furrows her brows and purses her lips. “You don’t shop? Or sail? Or anything fun?”

“It’s the middle of winter, so sailing is out, as for shopping, sure. Online, or appointments at the house. Everything I need is at my fingertips.”

“Not everything.”

“Everything.”

“Why pay for it if you can get it for free?” She leans toward me.

“Honey, it ain’t ever free, at least with my girl I know I’m gonna come, and she’s gonna go. Could I say the same for you?”

SMACK!

And there endeth my night.

I shower and toss on a tan button-down, white tank, and green cotton knee-length shorts. I had thought about jeans, but today it is supposed to be hot. I top it off with my straw hat and sandals before heading back to the main villa. By the time I finish the walkthrough, it’s almost lunchtime, and I’m starving. I make my way to the kitchen to catch Mama as she is overseeing the cooking.

“You having fun, Mama?”

“Oh, yes. The fish stew be a little salty, but we’re remedying that now. All is well. You look good, now sit, and I’ll bring the conch and Mahi-Mahi.”

I nod and head for the bar. This is my first vacation type day, so a drink is in order. I order a tropical pain killer, I love the touch of nutmeg, and pineapple mixed with rum and coconut. It’s tasty without looking like a girly drink.

Mama brings out my food and then smiles, pointing past me. “There’s one from the Grande Family now.” She waves, and I’m looking at that blonde! Her eyes bug out of her head, and she moves in a slinking fashion. Like she’s trying to hide. I follow her with my eyes, and she sits with a couple of kids, two young men, and a brunette, who’s just taking off a floppy hat. “Aren’t they all just pretty?” Mama adds.

“Yeah…” I draw out the words as the brunette adjusts her sundress straps. My eyes sail down her form and rest on her legs. She’s got stems for days. Now it’s time for me to bug out as I see an anchor anklet tattoo.

I nearly knock over my chair as I jump the bar.

“Boy, what you do, lose your head?” My Mama scolds as I pop my nose on the bar.

“It can’t be.” I whisper, snaking around crouched.

“Dalian, you get off that floor, or I’ll mop it with ya.”

“Yes, Mama. I um- I gotta go!” I freak and grabbing my plate. I high tail it to the kitchen. I mean, just because the only woman you can see yourself ever love is in your hotel isn’t any reason to starve. ~ Dalian
