I close my eyes, remembering Maddox’s stormy grays this morning and the way he was watching me. I didn’t need to look at him to know that familiar prickle of goosebumps that scattered across my flesh when I felt his eyes on me or him just being near. I’ve felt it for years and no matter the amount of time that has gone by, I felt it stronger than ever this morning.
