LUCKY IN LOVE AND LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. UNTIL NOW.

Maizie’s mixing with international stars, spies, and her mother’s dark past in her sixth case in The Wall Street Journal bestselling series.

“Hollywood glitz meets backwoods grit in this fast-paced ride on D-list celeb Maizie Albright’s waning star. Sassy, Sexy, and Fun.” — Phoebe Fox, author of the Breakup Doctor series.

#WannabeDetectiving While ex-celebrity Maizie Albright’s dreams of becoming a for-real private investigator have not exactly been dashed, they have been slightly thwarted. Her ex-manager and still-mother, Vicki Albright, has taken the helm of Nash Security Services while rebuilding her entertainment management company. Sometimes with the same clients. Like Chinese action star, Lili Liang, who’s making the film Unlucky 18 in Georgia.

Thus far, Lili’s living up to her movie title. Her kung fu coach is missing. Her boyfriend’s disappeared. And her director, who gambled on her with the part, might be gambling with her life.

Maizie’s luck is also running out. Maizie and Nash find themselves struggling to balance a new partnership and new relationship between missing persons’ cases, wild goose chases, and tracking a bullet into dangerous places. Sometimes it’s enough to make a girl NOT want to put a ring on it. When it comes to facing an 18-caliber killer, what will Maizie put up as the target? Her heart or her life?

TBRreview

I’m one of those people who has to read all the previous books in a series before reading a new book. So I went and purchased books 1-5 because I needed to meet Maizie Albright and all the characters in her life. And I am SO glad I did! While you can read this book as a standalone, you really should read the adventures of Maizie and how she is in Georgia trying to be a PI from being a former starlet.

I really loved reading about Maizie and her misadventures because I think I would be a PI like she would be. At least I hope so. Although I haven’t been a Hollywood actress, so that’s different – but either way, I find bits of myself in her.

This installment brings us more insight into Maizie and her relationships with Vicki, Boomer and even Nash. We find out a little more about how Maizie was treated in Hollywood by Vicki, how Maizie processes her feelings, while solving the mysteries that seem to always find her.

5 stars!

Don’t Go Stealing My Heart by Kelly Siskind

A Standalone Romantic Comedy

Add it to Goodreads

Book Blurb:

She wants to steal his Van Gogh. He wants to steal her heart.

Some people would call Clementine Abernathy a criminal. She considers herself a modern day Robin Hood, who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Not exactly on the up-and-up, but she knows what it’s like to lose everything. Her latest heist involves swiping a priceless Van Gogh from its owner, who’s supposed to be an egotistical trust-fund brat.

Turns out Jack David is a sexy, kind-hearted man…and Clementine is in trouble. Falling for her mark would make her the World’s Dumbest Conwoman, but Jack is charmingly persistent, always singing sweet songs in her ear.

And that earth-shattering kiss? She never stood a chance.

Now she’s imagining a fresh start with this dashing man, but that means telling Jack about her past. And other nefarious sorts are after the same painting. Too soon, Clementine learns what it means to risk it all for love.

TBRreview

Holy slow burn with a flash fire! Whoo!! This took a bit to build up and grab my interest but just like when Jack got his confidence, he was irresistible!

Clementine is truly a Robin Hood. And I absolutely loved her and wanted to give her a hug. She’s very nice and has an honorable mission – if somewhat misguided.

Jack and Clementine are just 2 perfect puzzle pieces that fit together. From their pets, to their histories to their personalities. They both mesh together so well and I’m so glad I was able to read this story.

Just far warning, when Jack gets his mojo, get a fan handy! Just reading his dialogue can definitely cause a fire…

5 stars!

Blog Tour & Review ~ Savage Love ~ by ~ Lisa Renee Jones

ABOUT SAVAGE LOVE
Title: Savage Love
Series: The Savage Trilogy #3

Author: Lisa Renee Jones
Release Date: April 21, 2020

The third and final book in the Savage Trilogy…
They say all is fair in love and war, but I really don’t give a damn about fair. In fact, when protecting those I love, fair is the last thing on my mind. Now that I’m back in Candace’s life, those who have used her to try to control me, may well put up a final fight, but they will not win. They will lose and badly.
BUY SAVAGE LOVE
EXCERPT
I don’t just kiss Candace, I ravish her, I drink her in like a man lost in a desert, dying of a thirst he cannot quench. And I was until I found her again. What’s worse is, that desert was of my own making, a desolate fucking desert I’m done with because, thank fuck, she’s not done with me.
Hugging her close, I hold her like this moment is it, like this is the last time I might ever hold her again. I kiss her just the same, like I will never kiss her again. I’ve never kissed her with that kind of desperation before now, and not because I didn’t love her. I just always took for granted that tomorrow would come. And I always intended to come back, but I didn’t and now I know, shit happens. People die, tomorrow is not always guaranteed.
She knows this kiss is different, too. It’s in the way she kisses me back, the way she twists her fingers around my T-shirt. In the way she jerks back, parting our lips, searching my face. In the intensity of her green eyes when they meet mine, the sudden parting of lips, now swollen from my kiss, at what she finds, she orders, “Do not kiss me like this is goodbye, Rick Savage, damn you.”
She tries to dislodge herself from my grip but I hold onto her. “Don’t run.”
She gapes. “Run? Me? I’m not the one who ran.” I physically flinch with those well-deserved words, but she’s not done. “If you want to say goodbye, just say goodbye, Rick.”
“I’m not saying goodbye, Candace.” I catch her hair around my fingers and drag her gaze to my unguarded gaze. I let her see the torment in me. I let her see the guilt. I let her see the dark need in me that isn’t going away like I’m not going away. “This is not goodbye,” I repeat. “This is me making sure that you’re properly kissed, fucked, licked, and loved, the way you deserve to be.”
“It feels like goodbye.”
“No, and one day you’ll trust me enough to know that a dark night doesn’t take us there again. I promise you, you will. Soon.”
“How soon?”
“New York. It’s going to change everything.”
“Can we go now?” she asks hopefully, but we both know we can’t. We both know we have to see tomorrow out.
“I wish we could, baby. I wish we could.”
My mouth slants over hers, my tongue licking deeply, possessively and I make sure every answer she wants is right there in this kiss. I make sure she knows that I’m not fucking living another day without her. She moans into my mouth and when my hands settle on her spine, she arches into me. I rotate her toward the couch, pressing her against the back, my hands finding that soft smooth skin under her T-shirt.
Goosebumps lift on her skin and I tear my mouth from hers. “You have always been exactly what I need.”
“Am I?”
“Oh yes, baby. You are. I felt you even when you weren’t with me. Every day I was away, I felt you. I missed you. I needed the hell out of you.” I catch the hem of her shirt and toss it, my gaze lowering to her breasts, my fingers tracing the swell above the black lace of her bra, then finding her nipple through that lace.
She sucks in a breath and catches my hand. “Rick, I—”
“God, I love when you say my damn name…”

TBRreview

Oh how I needed this book! I needed to know how Savage and Candace navigate through this craziness and espionage that they’ve been living in. Oh I should say you MUST read books 1 and 2 first or this book won’t make any sense. Plus you have to get to know both Candace and Rick.

This whole series had me guessing the whole time. Who is on the “good” side, who is a liar, who can’t you trust? Who CAN you trust? This whole series makes you second guess everything you think you have figured out.

The only thing you can be sure of throughout this whole trilogy: that Rick Savage will protect Candace with everything he has.

Excerpt

Chapter One:

I’m such a walking contradiction. I sugarcoat but have diarrhea of the mouth…and share a lot of TMI. I’m a huge Diva and a Zen loving peacemaker. I’m selfish and I’m giving. I’m definitely a lover and not much of a fighter, but I have learned in my 40s that I am done taking shit from people. I will easily walk away from a friendship that’s become more taking than giving, more drama than fun, or more difficult than easy. I have always been told that I am extremely inclusive and great at making people feel welcome and comfortable, and that is just a natural trait for me. I am a lover of all, but I think people who don’t know me very well would be shocked and surprised at some of the shit life has thrown my way and some of the shit I’ve done to others.

My best friend’s husband always says, “you have the worst karma,”but I always think I have the best karma. I don’t dwell on the bad shit, I never have. There’s a lot of things that I could have allowed to be an excuse for poor behavior. I was molested. My biological father beat the shit out of my mom in front of us all the time. I was bullied in school from ages eleven to thirteen, and not a lot of people know about that because I kept it inside. I watched a man get run over and saw his brain bouncing on the road when I was eleven. I was in bad relationships just like most of us at one point or another. I have been arrested multiple times. I have gone home with complete strangers and put myself in some shady situations. I have manipulated people to get what I wanted. I have gossiped and stabbed people in the back. I gave my baby sister alcohol when she was 13 or 14 and hid in the bathroom when she visited to get high. I have bounced checks to people in my family, and I have borrowed money that never got paid back. I have reacted impulsively and created drama because of insecurities and anxiety. I have stolen money from people to buy drugs and justified it along the way. I even took a friend to have surgery one time, only to realize her surgeon was my fuck buddy and we had to both pretend we didn’t know each other. I have been in pain since I was 15 years old and have a spine that just continues to deteriorate with an incurable disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis. I have been physically abusive while drinking to pretty much every man I’ve ever been with (fortunately I don’t do this anymore).

Despite all of this –I am a good person. I am nice, sometimes to a fault. I am the most forgiving person and truly see the absolute best in every situation. I have grown tremendously and learned from my many mistakes. I have had to make amends to friendships and family members that I’ve damaged. That took a lot of work and a lot of being careful not to do more damage. Most of the bad behavior was in my early 20s, and I think that might be true for a lot of us. I spent years allowing guilt and remorse to dominate my thoughts. It takes a lot for us to be able to forgive ourselves for some of the things we did in our past, but that is the most important step in being able to move forward and opening the door for others to forgive you as well. I have done a huge amount of personal development and growth work over the years, and I feel like it makes me qualified to share some of the tools I have used to grow through the bad shit. There truly can be a sparkly lining in every situation. While we are in it, sometimes it feels like we will never find our way out of the heavy darkness or the shit storms we may have created for ourselves. I promise you, there is. There will always be a shiny lesson to learn from the chaotic madness. It requires intentional focus and a willingness to do the work to shift our mindset. It also requires us to admit that for the most part, our current reality and present situation is of our own creation. The reason I share a lot of these things is so that you know this book isn’t coming from someone who has never been through the shit with you. If you are ready and willing to be open to taking a true, honest look in creating self-awareness and seeing where you may be contributing to your present circumstances—then you are ready to bring out your true unicorn self. Here we grow, y’all!

A bargain deal on a safari + one dead body = An adventure no one could plan for.

Naomi and her estranged sister are off on a trip of a lifetime—an African safari, a bucket list trip for Naomi on which she got a last-minute deal. Naomi thinks traveling with her sister will be the worst part of her African safari until she finds one of their fellow travelers, the unlikable Dr. Higgins, dead. She gets more adventure than she bargained for when she starts investigating what she thinks is murder but the luxury lodge says was a tragic accident. She only has a few vacation days, and a few game drives, to find the killer.

TBRreview

First, I love the name Naomi. Don’t know why, especially since there was a mean girl in my elementary school named Naomi, but who knows why we like things? Anywho, I love animals also, so this was a book I had to read, a cozy mystery with a woman named Naomi who goes on safari? I’m in!

Naomi has wanderlust and finds a great deal for a safari and drags her sister to go along with her. And then a fellow safari-er (what is the proper term?) is killed by hyenas – or was he??? Among other strange occurrences that make Naomi bust out her inner Nancy Drew, not always using legal means… But she gets the perpetrator and that’s what matters right?!

I can’t wait for more of this series! And Naomi.

BLURB

Emilia—

All I’ve ever wanted was to marry for love.

But girls like me don’t have that luxury.

We are used as pawns in a game we can’t control.

The game? It’s called Mafia.

I was foolish enough to try to change the rules… and I lost.

Luca—

She was promised to me years ago.

And he dared to take her from me.

Dared to touch what was mine.

I put an end to that.

I hope he’s enjoying the view from his dirt room.

Emilia—

My beloved’s killer placed a ruby ring on my finger and called me his queen.

But that red gem symbolizes something different for me.

It represents the blood shed by those I love most.

Hell was empty the day we wed.

Because the devil was standing before me and said “I do.”

Luca—

I saw her as a possession.

A shiny toy I didn’t want other boys to play with.

But she’s so much more.

Beautiful and brave and strong and broken all at once.

She tastes like everything I’ve ever wanted.

Emilia—

Hidden and patient.

I wait for the perfect time to seek my revenge.

But slowly, I feel him possessing me.

His heart is full of darkness… and I still want every inch of him.

Hard as I try, I can’t escape loving this beautiful monster.

Luca—

I’m waiting patiently because I already know that she’s mine.

Mine in a way that no one will ever understand.

Even if she hasn’t yet realized it.

For love, I’d do anything.

For her, I’d do everything.

After her philandering husband’s boat went down, newly single Mia Carina went back to Astoria, the bustling Queens neighborhood of her youth. Living with her Nonna and her oversized cat, Doorstop, she’s got a whole new life—including some amateur sleuthing . . .

Mia is starting work at Belle View, her father’s catering hall, a popular spot for weddings, office parties, and more—despite the planes that occasionally roar overhead on their way to LaGuardia and rattle the crystal chandelier. Soon she’s planning a bachelor party for a less-than-gentlemanly groom. But it goes awry when the gigantic cake is wheeled in and a deadly surprise is revealed . . .

Since some of her family’s associates are on the shady side, the NYPD wastes no time in casting suspicion on Mia’s father. Now, Mia’s going to have to use all her street smarts to keep him out of Rikers Island . . .

Italian recipes included!

Excerpt

She shook off the moment and returned to the vow renewal reception, passing Felicity Stewart Forbes, who was handing out business cards to a nonplussed knot of senior citizen guests. “Like the saying goes, the future is now,” she fluted. “Especially when you reach a certain age, if you know what I mean.”

“We know what you mean. We’re old.” A man holding tight to the walker in front of him responded with asperity to Forbes, earning a chuckle from Mia.

She found the anniversary couple posing for photos in the outdoor gazebo where they’d renewed their vows. Flushing Bay lay in the distance, as did LaGuardia Airport’s air traffic control tower. Mia was helping their photographer find a camera angle that blocked out the tower when she heard a loud whoop coming from the Bay Ballroom upstairs. They must have wheeled in the pop-out cake, she thought. The photographer finished taking pictures of the anniversary couple and Mia was herding everyone back to the Marina Ballroom when her headset buzzed. It

was Cody.

“We have a situation, ma’am.”

The tone of his voice alarmed her. “What’s going on? And feel free to call me Mia.”

“No one jumped out of the cake.”

“Did you look inside to make sure someone was in there?”

“Affirmative. I had one of the waiters double-check before we wheeled the cake out. Something must be wrong with the lady inside it.”

“I’m on my way.”

She hurried out of the Marina Ballroom into the foyer and was about to start up the stairs when an attractive woman in a trench coat burst through the Belle View front doors. “Sorry I’m late,” she gasped, out of breath. “They switched the N and R trains and I wound up in Forest Hills.”

Mia stared at her. “Who are you?”

The woman opened her coat, revealing a sequined bikini. “Park Lexington. I’m working the bachelor party.”

“You’re the stripper? Then who’s in the—”

Mia’s stomach clenched. She raced up the stairs and burst into the Bay Ballroom. John’s guests whooped and cat-called. “Yeah, baby, finally!” one yelled.

“I’m not the stripper!” Mia yelled back.

Cody helped her climb to the top of the cake. She threw open the lid and peered inside. A woman lay crumpled on the bottom. It was Angie, the call girl who’d paid Ravello Carina a visit only days before.

Mia prayed she was unconscious, but the blood pooling under the knife sticking out of the woman’s chest told a different story.

She’d been murdered.

Welcome to Adlebury where village life can be downright deadly.

Veterinarian Petronella Knight seems to have it all. A job she loves, good friends, and patients who adore her. But when she gets into an argument with dog breeder Gladys Harrington, and she finds the woman dead, she also finds herself accused of murder.

Ella will need all her friends, including the new and very handsome American policeman, and all her sharpest sleuthing skills to figure out who murdered the dog breeder before another dead body pops up.

Paws for Murder contains one enthusiastic amateur detective with a penchant for rescuing animals, a guard duck called George, a large amount of homemade gooseberry wine, and a very confused American who has never met an English village quite like this one.

You’d be Barking Mad to pass this one by.
