“You know, it’s okay to not be okay, Daria.” Nico startles me. “Sometimes, life is like an intersection.” I look at him with a raised eyebrow. Is he really comparing my life to an intersection? He rolls his eyes. “Life can be full-on, especially this life. It may feel like we’re going round in circles, making us dizzy and confused, but we have to remember that sometimes we need to pull over and ask for directions.”

I can’t find the words to form a response, so I turn back to stare at the water; it’s so calm and peaceful. I find myself wishing my life was as still and tranquil, but then I remember water can also be turbulent and dangerous. It’s full of contradictions and so much mystery.

I link my arm in his and lay my head on his shoulder. The moon reflects on the glittering water. He kisses my head and sighs. “Don’t ever be afraid to ask for help. I’m here for you. You don’t need to deal with anything on your own anymore.”

“I used to look out into this water when I was younger.” I blink the tears away. “I often thought about what my life would have been like if my real mom was around and if I had any siblings out there.” I glance at Nico, who’s looking out to the water too. “I thought about running away, leaving everything and everyone behind. I remember packing a bag ready to run away, then my dad caught me trying to sneak out. He got so upset with me. My heart broke when he said he would die before he let me leave the house for him never to see me again.” A humorless laugh escapes my lips. “He let me go for ten years. No contact. Nothing. Ever since then, my life has been on a continuous spin. I need to get off, Nico. I need off of this rollercoaster. I need a break from everything.” He turns his head to face me, and I look up into his hazel eyes that match mine. “I’m going to New York in two weeks. Jake offered me to stay at his apartment for a few days. He won’t be there. I just need some breathing space. Just to chill and relax.”

“Do what you have to, cupcake.” Kissing my temple, he looks back at the water. “Please, just try to talk to Striker before you go.”

Closing my eyes, I take in the crisp autumn air.

“I can’t. I’m sorry, it won’t happen. I need to clear my head before I talk to him.” I let out a long sigh. He nods his head, understanding. I need to put some space between us for a few days.

“How do I know that?”

A low, frustrated sound escapes his lips and he drops the medication bag, and spikes fingers into my hair, a low curse escaping his lips. His eyes meet mine, and the depth of the emotion he then spikes in me steals my breath. Before I can catch it again, he’s breathing for me. I read this book immediately after book 1 and I still need to re-read them before book 3 because I know I need the immediate gratification. And I have to follow the story of Kace and Aria from start to finish in 1 fell swoop.

This book picks up where book 1 left off. Aria is still trying to find her past and trust Kace again. But because of who he is and who she is, she isn’t sure that Kace wants her or her lineage. But Kace and Aria’s off the charts relationship just leaps off the page.

As with every Lisa Renee Jones book I’ve ever read, the characters and storyline SUCK ME IN! I’m immediately captivated and must read from start to finish what happened. As with every multiple book series, this one ends on a cliffhanger that will leave you BEGGING for more! And that’s definitely what I am doing. September 22 cannot come soon enough!!

This book was so not what I was expecting! I was interested because Makayla (love her name) is working for a pharmaceutical company that she is in the dark pharma world – which is fascinating to me, because I work for a drug monitoring program. So I was in when reading the blurb.

The dark pharma world is just the tip of the iceberg! Although it’s how Makayla ends up getting swept up into this whole thing – which is a little terrifying to be honest because it wouldn’t surprise me if this was something that could happen. Plus it brings Kellan into her life and he was exactly what she needed at the time that Makayla needed him.

This story had highs and lows and everything in between. This was a wild ride from beginning to end and I was sucked in from the beginning!

I had not heard about this series before but yes, you do need to read book 1, #MNGirl first. This book picks up where that book left off. Saylor, Ciaran, Kai and Silas have definitely changed since we met them in book 1. And I’ve tried for both books to figure out how to say Ciaran and I’ve got nothing. I’m thinking Ci is like “Cee” or “Sy”? I could go either way. You tell me what you think.

This book, well this series, totally took me for a ride. I was not expecting what I read, but that isn’t a bad thing. There is romance, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and so much more. I will be re-reading this book again because I’m sure there are things I’ve missed that I will pick up the next time I read it.

I can’t wait to read more of this series. I need Silas and Kai’s stories STAT! Silas definitely intrigues me and I cannot wait to see his future.

“I owe you an explanation,” he started and the bird of hope started flapping its wings rapidly. “And yet, testing your responses is fun. So, maybe I’ll make you wait a little more for it.” I wasn’t particularly pleased hearing that. I was enticing enough for him to put me through his ‘tests,’ but I was unsure of whether my heart could take it. And yet, I met his challenge head-on.

“What do these tests entail?” I asked unsurely. Without saying another word, he took a step closer. In such proximity, his magnificent aura diminished my presence. Despite being just an inch away, he felt out of my grasp. He was at a level that would probably take me years to reach. He would have surely left by then. Why would he wait?

“Pursuit of answers is what spoils the fun,” he whispered. “The secret of enjoying life is simple.
