Ty stood and watched her as she gazed out at the ocean beyond the railing of the deck. He remembered the first time he’d laid eyes on her almost six years ago. She’d been standing behind the counter of his aunt’s coffee shop, all that pale blonde hair piled in a mess on top of her head. Her cornflower-blue eyes—eyes he knew as well as his own now—sparkled when she smiled at customers, and he’d felt it immediately. As if a bolt of lightning had struck him, he’d wanted that girl. He’d wanted that sparkle and glow to be for him.

            And for a brief time, it was.

            But now, as he quietly watched her, none of the sparkle was there anymore. None of the vibrancy that had been so magnetic when they’d known each other earlier. No, Jodi was different. He could see it in the set of her shoulders, the way she held her arms so tight against her body. Then she turned and looked at him, and it was in her eyes. It was breath stealing, the sorrow he saw there, but he steeled himself against it. Closed himself off and let a layer of armor wind around his heart and his body.             “You came,” she said, giving him a small smile as she turned more fully, the thin embroidered cotton dress she wore blowing around her thighs in the breeze.

            Her hair was still that same shade of platinum it had always been—so rare for an adult to be that blonde naturally, but Jodi looked like the fae out of some Nordic fairy tale, all fair skin, white-blonde hair, and pale blue eyes. She was tall at five ten, he was taller at six two, and she was strong—long legs, wide shoulders, narrow hips—but buxom as well, a Viking warrior princess.

            He gave himself a little shake, remembering that if she wasn’t exactly the enemy now, she sure as hell wasn’t his friend.

            “Surely you didn’t expect me to find out you were in town and just ignore it?”

“What’re you doing?” Teller asks in a low, gravelly voice.

HOLY HOTNESS!!! Do NOT read this one at work like I did! I should have known better, especially after reading the excerpt and synopsis and knowing what hot stuff Laura Kaye writes but I couldn’t hold it off any longer. And normally I’m not a threesome fan but holy wow were Hartley, Cruz and Jonathan HOT!!!

Hartley needs to get her boat repaired FAST and there isn’t anyone who can help her achieve her deadline. Except until she meets Jonathan. There’s immediate sparks and Jonathan wants to help Hartley but he does need to consult the other owner of the company and his partner, Cruz.

What then starts is a lot of flirting and sizzling between these 3, especially once Hartley is told that Cruz and Jonathan are part owners of Blasphemy and are often in scenes together.

Just read this one. It’s HOT and quick and full of Laura Kaye goodness I’ve come to expect!!

At the unexpected sight of Spence, Colbie startled hard. How was it that he was the one who needed glasses and yet she’d not seen him standing against the window? “No, I don’t kill a lot of people,” she said cautiously because she was wearing only a towel in front of a strange man. “But I’m happy to make an exception.”

He laughed, a rough rumble that was more than a little contagious but she controlled herself because, hello, she was once again dripping wet before the man who seemed to make her knees forget to hold her up.

“I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said and pushed off the wall to come close.

She froze, but he held up his hands like, I come in peace, and crouched at her feet to scoop up the clothes she hadn’t realized she’d dropped.

Leggings, a long forgiving tee, and the peach silk bra-and-panty set that hadn’t gotten so much as a blink from the TSA guy.

But it got one out of Spence. He also swallowed hard as she snatched them back from him.

“Hold on,” he said and caught her arm, pulling it toward him to look at her bleeding elbow.

“Sit,” he said and gently pushed her down to a weight bench. He vanished into the bathroom and came back out with a first aid kit.

It took him less than two minutes to clean and bandage the scrape. Then, easily balanced at her side on the balls of his feet, he did the same for both her knees, which she hadn’t noticed were also scraped up.

“You must’ve hit the brick coping as you fell in the fountain,” he said and let his thumb slide over the skin just above one bandaged knee.

She shivered, and not from the cold either. “Not going to kiss it better?” she heard herself ask before biting her tongue for running away with her good sense.

She’d raised her younger twin brothers. Scrappy, roughhouse wild animals, the both of them so there’d been plenty of injuries she’d kissed over the years.

But no one had ever kissed hers. Not surprising, since most of her injuries tended to be on the inside, where they didn’t show. Opening the door, fully expecting to see Lexi, I saw a pissed off Reid instead. He jaw twitched as he looked me over. The sun had wrecked him during the short walk from his apartment, and his face dripped with evidence, but his eyes didn’t waver, even as fresh perspiration dripped from his lashes. He was mad, and it looked damned good on him. He gripped the hand that massaged my dead leg and turned it palm-side up before he shoved in some cash.

“I was just trying to help,” I pleaded.

He leveled me with his livid stare before he turned his back and made his way down the stairs. “I’m not the one sleeping on my sister’s couch. Get your own life.”

“Touché,” I called after him. “And the truce is officially over!”
