Masen and Booth have quite the history. They’ve loved each other for years – even after they’ve been apart and involved with other people. Masen has loved Booth since she was 16, but events happen and she pushes Booth away when she needs him the most.

I will admit in reading the book’s synopsis, I wasn’t too excited because I thought there would be cheating since Booth and Masen were both involved with other people. But I’m so glad I read it anyway! There’s no cheating and the book was just fantastic!

Every ounce of composure I gathered inside the bathroom left me as soon as I stepped foot into his office again. Mason stood, leaning against the wall adjacent to the bathroom door. He’d removed his black suit jacket, and was wearing a crisp white button down. His tie had been removed. I could see the definition of his biceps and his hardened abs through his shirt.

He stared down at me hungrily as he prowled toward me. My eyes widened for a split second as he came closer, and in response, I took a few steps backwards until I felt my back against the wall. My breathing quickened as his body now pressed against mine, pinning me to the wall. I couldn’t escape- not that I wanted to.

His gaze alone entranced me, and left my insides smoldering. The scent of him clouded my senses as the heat of his body overtook me. The lace underneath my pencil skirt was officially wet. For those few seconds, as anticipation increased, I gazed up into his light brown eyes. There was a darkness in those eyes. Lust. If words weren’t going to convince me to accept his terms, then he was going to show me. I knew this, but I didn’t care. His arms wrapped around me, the strength of his body overpowering me. His lips crashed down on mine, and I savored his taste.

His lips enveloped mine while both of his hands flattened against the wall, not allowing me to move. His kiss was heated and passionate, yet tender. I felt a force stronger than any magnetic pull as he consumed me. Words can’t begin to describe how he’d captivated me, and I wondered if he felt the same pulse between us.

He nibbled on my lower lip gently as his hands slid down my body. His tongue tenderly slipped between my lips, silently demanding I part for him. I opened my mouth for him and welcomed his tongue as it caressed the inside of my mouth. I ran my hands up and down his back and it only encouraged him to ravish me even more.

I’d kissed two guys in my life before Mason, and I’d never felt such sensations from a kiss before. This was more than a kiss. This was indescribable. My body careened with desire against his. With his mouth still possessing mine, he took my hand and placed it on the bulge of his pants.

“Feel what you do to me,” his voice was raw in my ear. My heart was rampant as I felt the large, tented bulge in my hand. Solid and rock hard, for me. I stopped breathing for a second.

Before I knew what was happening, he’d bunched my skirt around my waist and pressed his knee between my legs to hold me in place. His hands reached around my backside, gripped me, and he lifted me up as though I weighed no more than a feather.

Here’s a taste of Luke & Callie…

I stand and move to him. His back muscles tense when I place my hand on his shoulder. “I want to get to know everything about you, Luke Hardy,” I say and he spins around to face me.

His eyes search mine. “You already know the important bits.”

“No, I don’t.” I rest my hand against his chest. “I don’t know the secrets you keep locked in here. They’re the important bits.”

His intake of breath is sharp and he wraps his hand around mine. His other hand slides around my waist and he pulls me close.

I’m pretty sure my eyes almost pop out of my head. I knew Luke was bossy—oh, boy did I know—but this is a whole new level of bossy. His deep voice vibrates along my skin, scattering goose bumps, while his eyes penetrate my soul. Those intense, green eyes of his will do it to me every time. They’ll cause me to forget everything I’ve ever said or thought and just cling to him for the ride.

He dips his face again and his mouth finds mine. The moment our lips connect sparks of desire burn through me. I’m so damn hot for him and I can’t control myself. I push my body hard against his and open my mouth to him.

He tastes like whiskey and I make a note to buy some just so I can remember this moment forever. I’ve never loved whiskey before, but it may just be my new favourite drink.

After seeing how Luke would act about Callie’s dates, I just knew he wasn’t being overbearing and was actually jealous. I mentally high fived me when I was right!

Luke is just wow. The things he says and the growly voice – even though I can’t hear it – I can imagine it and LOVE it! Although after reading his history, I just want to give the guy the biggest bear hug!

Callie is a trip. I could see how she just thinks that Luke likes to bicker and pick on her rather than him liking her. But once she sees it, there’s no stopping Luke & Callie.

I love their love. They genuinely care about each other but have no problem letting the other know when they need to back off. Definitely more book boyfriend material!

I can’t wait to see whose story is next!!

C.C. Wood is one of the few paranormal writers I will read. And Don’t Wake the Dead and The Wraith Files is proving to be no exception.

In reading this book, it reminded me of the Charley Davidson series but then went so much further! I love Teri, Zoe and Malachi (I’ve always loved that name). Teri is the ghost I want to have if I ever become someone who sees dead people. She’s the devil on your shoulder ALL THE TIME! Although I talk enough to myself now so I don’t think it would be any different with a Teri – except I might be more entertained.

I can’t wait to see how the rest of the crew and Zoe and Malachi evolve as the series progresses. Definitely add this one to the TBR!!

I have been on a true crime/wrongful conviction kick lately so this book totally hit my button.

Foster is being released from prison after serving 5 years for a crime he didn’t commit. Addison makes sure to make Foster pay for what he had done to her family. Which on face value, I can see exactly why she thinks that Foster was involved with the crime – especially since he was convicted and sentenced to prison.

Foster has spent the last 5 years paying for something he didn’t do. He plans on paying back the person who caused him to get convicted and give any and all monetary proceeds to the victims of the crime. Which is admirable.

Another great series I will be keeping up on!

Darsh pushed through the crowd of spectators who lingered despite the lateness of the hour and the sub-zero temps. He hoped someone here had the smarts to photograph the onlookers in addition to the crime scene. Killers often came back to observe the chaos they wrought. It was all part of the thrill. Unlike most fictional killers and rapists, the real life versions were generally as smart as a thumbtack. He flashed his creds at the police officer manning the outer perimeter and ducked under the tape. “Agent Singh. FBI. I need to speak to whoever’s in charge.”

“You’re FBI?”

He ignored the skepticism. “That’s what they told me when I graduated the academy.” He pocketed his gold shield as the officer shouted to one of her colleagues before leading him to the two-story clapboard house surroundded by yellow crime scene tape.

“Sorry.” The rookie was flustered. A dark blush worked its way into her cheeks and matched her cold-looking nose. “I wasn’t expecting a fed to show up.”

Darsh signed his name on the log, put paper covers over his boots, latex gloves on his hands, and walked into the house. It was just as cold inside—front and back doors were wide open. At least it would slow decomposition.

The rookie button-hooked a right and walked up to a blonde who wore a gray pantsuit beneath a black parka with a fur-lined hood. The blonde had her head down but seemed vaguely familiar.

She looked up, and a pair of smoky blue eyes collided with his. Every neuron in his body sparked to life as recognition slammed into his gut. Her pupils dilated, but apart from that, she betrayed no visible reaction.

Fuck.

There was no smile. No “Hey, how’re ya doin’?” But then their last encounter had been conducted under very different circumstances. Horizontal. Naked. Panting.”
