turnedbyatiger-excerpt

He lifted his head and Sherry sucked in a breath as bright amber eyes met hers and heat curled through her, a fire that only grew in intensity as a low growl curled from his bloodstained lips.

The club whooshed past her and she gasped as she flew backwards. She stumbled and grunted as the hand suddenly clamped around her right wrist hauled her upwards again, jerking her forwards and slamming her into a broad masculine back.

Kyter.

He held her behind him, shielding her with his body.

Why?

She hadn’t been in danger.

Not physical danger anyway.

She was no cat shifter but she had the undeniable sensation that growl hadn’t been a show of aggression.

It had been a show of possession.

A sign that even in his weakened state, knocking on Death’s door, this mysterious tiger shifter wanted her.

Sherry eased out of Kyter’s shadow, curiosity seizing control of her, filling her with a need to see the tiger. “What do you want?”

Those stunning amber eyes locked on her again, startling in their intensity. They seemed to brighten, glowing gold in their centres as he studied her. He wanted her. It was right there in his eyes for her to read, unmistakeable and undeniable.

Kyter snagged his attention again by moving a step forwards.

Tiger bristled, growling and snapping huge fangs, and then a flash of regret crossed his handsome rough face when Kyter huffed and folded his arms across his chest. The man shrank back, eased onto his butt on the floor and slumped wearily against the black bar.

When his chin dropped and his shoulders trembled, she lowered her eyes to his chest and the wounds that littered it, and then continued downwards to his stomach. The gash that darted across it was deep, still dripping blood.

“Who did this to you?” she whispered.

His lips moved soundlessly at first, repeating a single word, but then he managed to put his voice behind it.

“Archangel.”

Sherry found that hard to believe. The look on Kyter’s face when she glanced at him said he did too.

“Archangel aren’t in the habit of taking innocents, so what did you do to get on the wrong side of them?” Kyter curled a lip at the tiger and fire flared in his golden eyes.

Tiger struggled, managed to get a few syllables out but nothing that resembled a word. His head drooped again and he fought to lift it, but failed and his chin almost hit his chest. The need to know what had brought him to them and who had done such terrible things to him washed away, replaced with a more powerful need to take care of him.

If they didn’t help him soon, it would be too late.

“He needs medical attention.” Sherry ignored the gruff look that Kyter shot her, one that said he didn’t want to help the tiger until he knew everything. She glared at her boss, giving him her best withering stare, the one she had worked hard to perfect since entering employment at Underworld over a decade ago. “We can ask him questions when he can actually talk without passing out… and maybe we’ll get answers then.”

“I want answers now.” Kyter’s deep voice had that hard edge to it, the one he always used when laying down the law with his staff. It wasn’t going to work on her. “I won’t allow a dangerous shifter in my club. If Archangel comes, I’ll hand the son of a bitch over.”

“No!” There was such desperation, so much fear in that single word as the tiger jolted forwards, that she couldn’t stop herself from reacting, even when she knew it might cost her job.

Or more.

She stepped between him and Kyter again, heart racing against her ribs and a tiny part of her screaming not to do this, that it was dangerous and foolish, and blurted, “I’ll take him to my place and that way the club will be safe.”

Kyter’s golden eyes narrowed on her, but it was the feel of the tiger’s eyes drilling into the back of her head that held her awareness, making her want to look over her shoulder at him and answer his silent question.

Yes, she was crazy and she was offering to take him home with her.

She had lost her fucking mind.

“I won’t put you in danger, Sherry. I’m not going to let you take him,” Kyter snapped and shook his head, his golden eyes daring her to go against what sounded a lot like an order to her.

He had hated it when she had decided to move out two years ago, finding her own place so she could have a little space away from the club, a home to call her own, but in the end he had supported her.

Mostly because she had cited his and Cavanaugh’s tendency to snore so loudly she barely got any sleep in her small apartment in the club, and had then made him squirm by making up stuff about how her sex life had taken a huge nosedive because she couldn’t take a man up to her apartment without Kyter prowling around like some terrifying big brother and scaring them away.

Her sex life had been dead on arrival for a long time, but Kyter didn’t need to know that.

She knew he wanted to protect her, loved that about him, but sometimes she had to stand on her own two feet.

“I’m taking him.” She crossed her arms over her chest, mimicking him.

He huffed. “No. What if he hurts you?”

The tiger growled at that, as if the fact Kyter had dared to even think him capable of such a thing had pissed him off.

She looked back over her shoulder at him and realised she had no reason to believe he wouldn’t hurt her. It was a gut feeling, and her gut hadn’t failed her yet. It had brought her to this place at the lowest point in her life when she had run away from home, and told her to stick around when Kyter had offered to take her in like some stray, and again when she had discovered she wasn’t working for humans.

Now it was telling her that this man was innocent, and if she didn’t help him, he would die.

“What if he did something terrible to make Archangel capture him?” Kyter’s words were low spoken, cautious and deadly serious.

Sherry stared at the tiger, right into his amber eyes. “What if he didn’t?”

She looked back at Kyter when he huffed again.

“It wouldn’t be the first time Archangel had taken someone innocent. Cavanaugh’s brother Harbin was captured by them… and what about Loke?” She had known of Archangel’s existence from the night she had discovered Kyter was in fact a jaguar shifter and he had sat her down and told her everything he could about his world, and the truth about the one that surrounded her.

Back then, Archangel had been righteous, had reinvented itself as a champion for the fae and other immortal species after a bloody history with them. It had hunted only the immortals who were a danger to their own kind. Things had been changing though, and she knew even Kyter had his doubts about the hunter organisation now.

Kyter looked as if he wanted to argue with her, but then his face softened on a sigh and he shook his head. She was winning.

“I’m starting to get the feeling that Archangel aren’t all they appear to be… that they do bad as well as good… and you know you are too.” She pressed her advantage, seeing victory within her reach and unwilling to back down now.

Kyter would relent, and the tiger would be spared.

Saved.

That desire, that deep instinct and need that had sparked to life inside her when she had seen him close to falling, would be satisfied at last.

She would have protected him.

Her boss huffed again and glared at the tiger, who didn’t bite. He remained still behind her, so still in fact that she had to glance over her shoulder at him again to check he was still with them. He stared up at her, those amber eyes bright but dull with pain at the same time. His left hand shook against his bare stomach. Blood trickled from between his strong fingers.

“It’s my choice,” she whispered and then added with more conviction as she turned to face Kyter again, “I’m going to help him no matter what you have to say about it.”

He frowned at her. “There’s no way you’re walking out of here with three hundred pounds of half-dead tiger and making it home, not if Archangel are hunting him.”

He had a point, and she didn’t exactly have a solution to offer him. She wracked her brain, trying to think of something that would satisfy him enough that he wouldn’t revert back to refusing to let her go with the tiger in tow.

Kyter tunnelled his fingers through his sandy hair, tousling the already worry-ruffled locks further, and heaved a long sigh that spoke volumes—tomes—about how he felt about what he was about to suggest and what she was doing.

“I’ll ask Io for help.”

The hope that had been fading inside her burst back to life like a phoenix from the ashes, but she didn’t have a chance to thank Kyter for deciding to help her.

He pivoted on his heel and strode towards the door in the right wall of the nightclub beyond the bar, muttering, “Wait here while I ask Io.”

She was going to have to thank Iolanthe a thousand times over if she agreed to help out, and Kyter too for thinking of a way to get her home with the tiger without Archangel seeing her. She really hadn’t thought things through when she had rushed to his aid, acting like some white knight to his damsel in distress.

At least this way, the tiger could heal and Kyter could get the answers he wanted about Archangel.

Answers she wanted too.

She wanted to know why they had done such horrible things to him.

Kyter paused at the black metal door and looked back at her, concern lighting his eyes and echoing in his deep voice.

“Will you be alright?”

Sherry nodded.

He lingered a moment and then punched in the security code, twisted the silver knob and opened the door. It closed with a bang that echoed through the club and jangled her nerves, making her deeply aware of the fact she was now alone with the tiger.

She looked down at him.

He lifted his head, those piercing amber eyes rising to meet hers again.

Sherry stared down into them, drowning in their liquid gold depths.

Heat travelled through her limbs and warmed the space behind her breast that had been cold for so long.

At least she thought she would be alright.

Release Date: July 12, 2017
Blurb
I’m Dahlia Rossi, dating coach extraordinaire. I know how to land you
the man of your dreams. Follow my rules, you’ll meet the love of your life and
have a gorgeous destination wedding in French Polynesia. Okay, that last one
happened just the one time. But my rules work every time. I
guarantee it.

1. The man makes the first move. Seems unfair? Life’s unfair.

2. Never have sex on the first date. No, not even oral. And hands above the
table, please.

3. Play hard to get, but don’t make it too hard.

Solid rules, right? I thought they were. But then I met Jack Carraway,
an impossibly sexy, frustratingly unpredictable billionaire, and broke them
all. Everywhere. In an elevator. On a balcony. Beneath a
gazebo, of all places.

Whether I like it or not (spoiler alert: I like it!), Jack is taking me on wild
adventure and we’re writing a whole new set of rules. Like, always reserve your
matching Harry Potter costumes a week in advance; wrestling swans is not as
easy as it looks; and sometimes, the man of your dreams pops up in the most
unlikely of places and has a really big…boat.

After years of watching couples find love, it may be my turn. But is
this spontaneous playboy the real thing, or just a fun detour around my
predictable life? All this time I’ve been following my own rules and going to
sleep alone, with nothing but my second slice of princess cake to keep me
company.
But the more time I spend with Jack, the more I learn that
rules…they’re meant to be broken.
In love there’s only one rule: there are no rules.

Love comes easy to some. It came easy to me. Loving him was never an issue. Appreciating him was as easy as breathing. Years of living a life of what others viewed as perfection gave me the security I thought was most valuable.

My marriage to Drake is symbolic of what others fight for, yet living in the glass house of perfection is the biggest challenge of my life. Life isn’t always what it seems. People change. Everyone has demons they fight and fighting them in secret to avoid letting others down takes its toll.

Love came easy, but maintaining it is a whole different game. I thought the happily ever after would be the end of the story. That wasn’t the case. There’s so much more. It’s only so long before the glass house of perfection is clouded with buried secrets.

Can we overcome this and get back to a place of true happiness, or will I always feel like I’m perfecting my acting skills to save face? Can I ever find the ending to this fairy tale life I wanted so desperately?

Blurb:

I thought my life would forever be defined by tragedy.

The happily ever after I thought I had, ended prematurely and painfully.

My daughter and I were stuck in a fog of self-preservation, afraid to believe that there wasn’t more pain waiting for us in the ‘real world’.

Just the thought of allowing myself to embrace happiness and take a risk in order to feel that all-consuming love again is terrifying.

And I’m not sure I would be able to survive if it all went away again.

But… what choice do I have when I’m tied up in these heartstrings?

I could cut the ties and run.

Or I could take a chance on someone that my heart once yearned for and hope that he knows how to untangle the fear that holds my heart hostage.

Mending Heartstrings (Heartstrings, #2)

Blurb:

Just when my life seemed manageable, I’m thrown radically off course by “the one”.

“The one” I wasn’t expecting.

“The one” I never knew I wanted.

“The one” who single handedly holds the key to the tattered lock safeguarding my heart.

Letting someone into my protected sanctuary will only serve one purpose – intentional infliction of pain and heartache… and I’m positive I’m not capable of handling that.

New Rules:
1. Avoid LOVE at all costs.
2. No complications.
3. I will not become ‘dick’matized by the hotshot guitarist. It was only a no-strings attached weekend.
4. The lyrics he writes may seem magical, but it’s a façade. Lyrics can’t mend broken heartstrings – no matter how strong my heart swells with his words.

TBRreview

I loved reading this series! You get to grow and evolve with these ladies and their men. Each book focuses on a different couple but you still “see” all the couples.

Cami and Drake have the perfect marriage/relationship. They have the white picket house, the kids, love each other, everything is right in their world. Right? Until you learn that not everything is as it seems and you cry and feel along with them both and triumph when obstacles are overcome.

This book deals with a very tough topic (I’m not saying what) but it is done beautifully and with real, raw emotion and feeling. A great, emotive read!

4 stars!

I’m not one for paranormal books, if you’ve read enough of my reviews, you know that. Anyway, when I read the synopsis of this one, I had to give it a try. This is the exact type of PRN I like.

Vee is the daughter of the head of the North American vampires. She’s a Veterinarian in town who was told by her father not to help treat any more werewolves. Unfortunately for Vee, Lexan – King of the Werewolves – comes to get treated.

Lexan was sent to Vee for a reason, one that Vee isn’t even aware of yet. But Lexan will be there to guide her. The only hitch? Apparently Vee is his mate and he can’t keep denying it.

I hope this is the start of a new series!

4.5 stars!

Series: Safe Haven #2
Author: Parker Williams
Genre: M/M Dark Romantic Elements
Release Date: June 26, 2017
Buy Now: Universal Link

With Haven on an extended honeymoon with Sammy, bad guys around the world are breathing a lot easier. No one is better at permanently removing these lowlifes who target children—and the brutal murder of two teenage girls makes clear it’s past time to return to work. Haven’s first assignment back results in a new family member and a renewed sense of urgency to protect and avenge the innocent.

There is nothing ‘usual’ about the business of hunting predators, but when several of Haven’s fellow agents are killed, a pattern emerges. The hunters have become the prey, tools in a bitter vendetta for a perceived wrong.

Despite years of working alone, when the target shifts to someone unexpected, Haven calls in reinforcements—a friend to stand between the family he loves and a ruthless killer. Teamwork may be the only way to win this fight—unless it’s already too little, too late.

Haven tries to approach this as he would any other assignment. Find your enemy and make sure they suffer before you eliminate them. But when a member of his team goes off-book and ends up dead, everything changes. It’s no longer a battle.

Now it’s war.

PROLOGUE

He glanced up at the evening sky. A haze enveloped the quarter moon, giving everything an ethereal glow. Though the night would be considered sultry, it lent itself to romance, walking hand in hand with someone you cared for, sharing whispered words, promises that might last an evening or be the foundation for a lifetime commitment. These people had no idea how quickly something like love could be ripped away, how those things said to one another would be worth less than the air you spent on saying them.

He shook his head. Now he needed to focus, not lose himself in memories of what might have been if things had been different. God, how he wished things could have been different.

The street could only be described as quaint. Small houses, each nearly identical to the next, but with a few tweaks that marked them as individual. The place he focused on had a small flowerbed, bursting with a variety of a flower he knew, but couldn’t recall the name. Tulips, maybe?

The slate gray siding, the maroon shutters on the windows, and the solar-powered pathway to the door that lit up in beautiful colors at night. The overall effect could only be described as charming. A lot of love went into making the house something special. It reminded him of what he’d lost.

He’d taken refuge in a house across from the home for six days, getting the lay of the land, taking note of the occupants’ arrival and departure schedule. Then every night, he drifted off, thinking about the place. It had been a dream of theirs, to own a little farm of their own, where no one would send them off to the corners of the world to handle problems. And for one very brief instant, they’d achieved it. But that dream had died in more ways than one. One day it was there, the next it was gone, as ephemeral as if it had never existed.

He tugged the collar of his black jacket and wished for a cool breeze. The earlier rain had sent the humidity soaring, and sweat was building up under his bulletproof vest, matting the sparse hairs. What he wouldn’t give for a tall glass of iced tea about now. He tried again, lifting the bottom of the vest up, hoping to let a little air in to cool him down, but nothing helped. He glanced at his watch. He’d need to make his move tonight. No way could he stand to be in this place any longer. The memories and wistful dreams alone threatened to drown him, but this heat had him sweating to the point where even he could smell himself. When he grabbed a coffee at the convenience store down the street while his target was out, the man behind the counter had a hand on the phone. Probably thought he was a vagrant. He sure as hell looked like one. He hadn’t showered in days, and his dark blond hair felt greasy to the touch. The beard he’d grown over the last year hadn’t seen a razor either. He looked like shit.

When he heard the hum of an engine on the quiet street, he crouched down. Though his patience had long ago come to an end, he needed to see this through. He would wait as he’d been trained, even if every fiber of his being rebelled against the idea. Still, he was an assassin, and he had a job to do.

The woman—Sarah, according facts he’d assembled—slid from the driver’s seat, her blond hair pulled back into a ponytail. She laughed at something the other occupant shouted, then opened the rear door of the van. It took several minutes for her to get set, then she stepped away as a ramp slid down to allow the man in the back to wheel out and be lowered to the ground. She bent over and kissed him, then walked to the passenger side where she took a baby from the car seat. She held the child up, and then blew a raspberry on his belly, which caused the kid to laugh and wiggle. Regret tore through him. He wished there could be another way, but two months ago he’d approached the man—Daniel Tollifson—there had been angry words exchanged, as well as the threat of police involvement. He couldn’t allow that, because there would be no one else to take down his ultimate target.

He forced himself to focus on the here and now. He needed to remain detached. Better to not let facts like these intrude on his mission—a few weeks ago, he’d gone to Daniel, begging for information. He’d been rebuffed. That wouldn’t be the case today.

If the man wouldn’t help him when he asked, then he’d have to find another way to get his message across. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a photo of a man whose smile had never wavered. Terry had been his whole world, and then had been ripped away from him in a matter of moments. All he wanted had been the name of the person responsible. Why couldn’t Daniel see he wasn’t asking for much? How would he feel if it had been his wife? Or his child?

Daniel disengaged himself from the ramp, and Sarah started to come around to the other side. It had to be now.

He’d run out of tears a lifetime ago, but again he wished he had another alternative. He didn’t. He raised the rifle and peered through the sights. The woman and baby had gotten too near the man, and he refused to hurt the innocent. Not like Terry had been. He lowered his weapon.

He waited while the two were engaged in conversation. She touched her husband’s face, then bent down to blow a raspberry on his cheek, which had them both laughing. She held out the baby to him and gestured to the chair. He frowned, shook his head, and waved her off. She laughed and stuck out her tongue, dodging the swat he attempted to lay on her ass, then strode to the house, singing something loud and only slightly off-key. Her husband yelled something about the neighbors, and she merely laughed. He could see the obvious love the two of them shared, and that made what he had to do even more difficult.

Regret tore through him. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, no longer sure who the sympathy was for.

She opened the front door, and her husband began to roll toward the house. Now would be his chance. Despite his misgivings, he had to take it. He again raised the rifle, closed one eye, and locked in on his target. The wheelchair stopped at the curb, and the man tried unsuccessfully to move it. He called out to Sarah, an edge of frustration in his voice. She laughed and took eight steps toward him when the trigger of the M24 he held in slightly trembling hands depressed, and a loud bang split the quiet suburban street. Less than a second passed before Daniel’s head exploded, blood and other materials spattering his wife and child. For a moment, she stood there, eyes wide. She gripped the baby close to her chest, and then screamed.

Before the echo died away, he had already scurried off into the night.

It wasn’t a perfect shot. He could hear Terry cursing at him, making him do it again and again until he got it right. But Terry had died, and though two years had passed, he would finally be avenged.

Daniel Tollifson had been the first, but there was no doubt he wouldn’t be the last. Though he didn’t want to kill anyone, there had to be a penalty for those who refused to help him get justice for Terry. He needed to track down and eliminate the person who’d been responsible.

No matter who had to die in the process.

She needs to escape.

AMBER

His assistant hired me on a whim, thinking I would be just what he needed. Boy, was she right. I bounced into his dressing room and discovered the famous actor held dual personalities – a nasty player and the naughty gentleman.

I won’t say which one I fell in love with but when I least expected it, the bastard broke my heart. Now, fifteen years later, the last man to break me is the only one who can save me.

His heart takes her captive.

DALE

After an intense twelve-week love affair, I lost the only girl I ever loved—all to save her—to keep her safe. What she doesn’t know is I’ve been watching her every move, guarding her from a dangerous world she knows nothing about.

Keeping secrets for so long with only a promise, the wall I built around her crumbles to the ground. In the ruins, the only question that remains is… Will she still answer to me?
Ride or die in the love affair of Mae East & Cyclone Blonde.

DALE
My sister’s cabin is isolated in the woods. Everything is quiet. I insure this with a glance at the cams Sal installed a few years back. Boy wired this place to be a freaking militia bunker. He always goes into overkill mode. He says he’s prepared, and I ask what for, but the only response he ever gives is, “Rain.”
I have no worries if someone gets past the gate, they will be met with his maniacal arsenal of extreme tortures. It’s not pretty. Kid’s got game, I’ll give him that. Even if he is a sick, twisted fuck.
Standing between the kitchen and living space, Amber lowers her head, waiting. I can’t believe she didn’t resist me at all. I am surprised and flattered by her willingness to bend, and I am completely aware that if she didn’t want to, she wouldn’t have. Let it never be said that Amber Rosen cannot be difficult at times. She can. She is just choosing not to be right now.
Grabbing a rope from the storage closet, I weave her wrists together in an elaborate shibari loop. Her breathing is heavy, but she doesn’t dare look up at me. She knows better. I desperately want to know how wet she is, but I restrain my selfish needs a little longer, better to make her hold out.
I escort her naked body over to the table where she sits down. From her bag, I grab a clip and twist her hair, securing it firmly in place. She is a gorgeous woman, and damn near perfect submissive. Her posture is elongated and elegant with her shoulders high and back, exposing her breasts and nipples just right. My dick twitches, but I ignore it as I go grab dinner and the wine.
Careful and slow, I feed her small bites of the steak. I wash it down with copious amounts of the merlot. Her expression is unchanged and hard to read. I won’t know until I tell her to speak how she truly feels. She is rare that way. Never letting anyone have an upper hand with her emotions. It’s a huge turn on and a skill I know she’s honed with Raniero. I can spot his work a mile away. It’s easy to see where I left off fifteen years ago versus the more recently acquired skill set. She embodies a polish and finesse now. It’s a nice touch.
Kicking back in my chair, I light a smoke, assessing her will. I don’t need to break her, which is sweet. I can just take her for a ride anytime I want. A properly trained girl is a special cut, one I will savor. The shit you get at The Holding Room isn’t this. She is opening a fine bottle of wine or going bareback on a mare that trusts you as much as herself. It’s refreshing and endearing, making me want her all that much more.
“So, ask me,” I growl.
Her eyes cast a glance up to me. “I am not sure I have any questions. You flipped on me. If I had known…”
Leaning forward, I place my elbows on my knees as my eyes flicker with intrigue. I won’t take no for an answer. Maybe she already knows this. Arguing with me will get her nowhere fast. “If you had known…”
“If I had known I was coming to be your house pet, I might have never agreed to get on the back of your bike.”
“You think you had a choice?” Chuckling a little too loud, I boast, “That’s funny.”
“I understand you don’t give a shit about my consent. You are going to do to me what you are going to do,” she says as her blue eyes lure me in to her waters. “You are one sick motherfucker that way. Always have been.”
Ouch.
Standing up, I move closer and lower my face to her shoulder. “You know how hard I get when you curse at me.”
Her jaw flinches, and there is the signal I have been waiting on—I’ve got her, regardless of what her pretty mind believes. What I don’t expect is the fight to come flying from her lips. “I am not a fool. Don’t you think I knew exactly what we were doing? For heaven’s sake, you buried your dick in me in that bathroom! Let me tell you something, Dale Archer… I got your message—loud and clear—and fucking hard. And I fully understand, I am your hostage.”
Turning back to her, I say, “Hostage?”
“You won’t let me go,” she sasses off.
“Well, no. I won’t,” I agree, pacing. “But hostage seems a bit severe.”
“I am just calling it like I see it. You trapped me like an animal.”
“Now, now…”
“No, I have one hour. I am taking the rest of my minutes,” she advises. “You brought me here to try and make a play for my heart again.”
“Wrong. I brought you here to keep you safe.”
“Oh, and it’s just convenient to use my fetish to keep me?”
“I don’t see you actually objecting, darlin.”
She presses her lips together with an angry resolve. Her temper is flaring because I played her right. I knew she would never agree to this with me. So, I did the only thing I could—take what I want—by any means necessary.
“You are a monster.”
“Again, not an objection,” I say, clearing away the dishes. “Keep talking dirty to me, I love that shit.”
I hear her sigh loudly. “I fucking hate you.”
Getting in her face, I smile wide, showing her my shiny, white teeth. “Your hate is matched by the wetness between your thighs. Duly noted.”
She pushes forward, trying to attack me physically. Grabbing her tiny frame, I pick her up and lay her across the table as she squirms, kicking and serpentining. I yank her to the end of the table, securing one ankle to the leg and then the other. Lifting her tethered wrists, I secure her arms with an additional piece of rope looped into the web. With her strapped to the table, she is unable to move.
“What the fuck…” she moans.
“Not yet, but soon,” I assure with a slight smirk.
Pulling up against the ropes, she screams straining wail of moans. “You are fucking sick!” She spits as her spray shot of saliva ends up dousing my face.
Tilting my head, I cock a brow at her curiously. “Amber, tell me which one of us is sick—me for doing this or – you – for allowing it?”
“I am not allowing it!” she argues, flailing against her bindings. “I didn’t agree to this. I needed your help in getting away from psychopathic gunmen, I never realized I would end up in the hands of a crazy fucking bastard.”
Walking away, I accuse, “You aren’t fighting, pretty girl.”
I open the door and head outside for a smoke as I hear her voice cry, “Fuck you!”

Shakespeare’s Wench Book Blog – “This book was also tablet-melting hot. Check out this hot and spicy read!”

It was just two simple words. Julian had heard them before from lots of different women. But there was something different about this time. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it. This wasn’t the first time he’d bought a beautiful woman a beautiful dress. Of course, every woman was excited when he took them shopping. Their faces usually lit up when they saw the price tag, and they could barely contain their excitement when Julian took out his credit card. Eva hadn’t even checked how much the dress was. Julian knew it wasn’t the price that mattered, just the gift itself. It was refreshing, and it made him more curious than ever about this amazing woman.

‘Do you like it?’ Eva said, stepping out from behind a curtain. She caught the side of the flowing skirt and swished it from side to side as she spun around. Julian could see a sparkle in her eyes that wasn’t there before. He would buy her every dress in the shop if it kept that sparkle there.

‘Beautiful,’ he said. ‘But your body is way too delicious to hide.’

Eva look worried.

‘Here, try this one.’ Julian had spotted a little violet number early that afternoon. Eva in that dress was the first thought that came into his head. Or ripping that dress off Eva, to be truthful. Either way, he wanted to buy it for her.

‘It’s a little more…’

‘…revealing,’ Eva interrupted, taking the dress from him.

‘I was going to say flattering. Just try it on, please?’

Eva nodded and skipped back to the changing room. This time she emerged silent and obviously nervous.

Julian exhaled sharply. His cock bulged in his trousers. ‘Fuck. You look amazing.’

Eva lowered her head and fixed a strand of stray hair back behind her ear with shaking fingers. Julian knew she had no idea how stunning she was. He was going to change that.

‘I can’t reach…’ Eva spun around to show Julian the open zip that exposed her whole spine.

Julian sighed hard. It took all his self-control not to rip the dress from her body and make love to her right there on the shop floor.

‘Come here, beautiful.’

Steal, the follow-up standalone rockstar romance to the #1 NYT Bestseller Keep…

It’s easy to lose yourself in someone you love.

Easier to lose yourself in someone you hate…

I didn’t think it could get any worse than having to babysit a bunch of spoiled musicians on set — keeping them out of trouble is a cakewalk compared to seeing my ex every day.

Seaside, Oregon isn’t big enough for the both of us.

She hates me.

I loathe her.

The plan was simple — stay the hell away and make sure she gets to set on time.

What I didn’t expect was to be faced with our past in front of an audience — and be forced to face it again.

It’s torture.

The way she looks at me.

The way I try to look through her.

Words left unsaid.

The lingering aftermath still as powerful as ever.

I feed the chasm between us, for fear that she’ll make me feel again — and steal the last shred of heart I have left.

We have everything but each other.

It’s not enough.

Not when you’ve lost love.

And replaced it with the only thing left — hate.

Will and Angelica both can’t stand each other. They have a past and it’s quite painful. And it’s so necessary. Will and Ang needed to both go through everything they have because it makes their story that much better.

Will is Ang’s last chance. He is the only agent willing to work with her. This job is the only one that Ang can get and needs it badly. Even enough to work with her ex that she had a tumultuous relationship with.

And just like every Rachel Van Dyken book I’ve read, it’s left me with one hell of a book hangover.

5 stars!
