Genre: Contemporary Romance
***TRIGGER WARNING*** If you are sensitive to the devastation drug use/addiction can bring to innocent family members such as children, this book may not be suitable for you. Proceed with caution.

“I’m what you’d call a good girl.”

Though “boring girl” might be more accurate, as far as Serena Daniels is concerned. Working as a pediatric nurse, she’s not exactly knee-deep in eligible bachelors, and the most exciting thing she’s done lately is mix her colors with her whites. The last time she asked a man out, he stood her up, then didn’t bother to contact her for weeks. Clearly, she isn’t the only one who thinks she’s boring.

“Just how bad could this good girl get?”

Life is a string of crazy messes and brilliant moments for real estate mogul Lorenzo Salvatore, and he never knows which one he’s going to get next. On the one hand, he’s got a traumatized son who is his whole world. On the other, he’s got the smart-mouthed nurse he stood up. Getting back into Serena’s good graces will be tough, but with those bedroom eyes and killer legs becoming the center of his fantasies, he won’t stop until he gets her right where he wants her—in bed.

The bad and the good

Getting together with Lorenzo would definitely liven up Serena’s life, but Lorenzo’s made it clear that he and his son are a package deal. When it seems that all Lorenzo wants is a new mother for his boy, will Serena be willing to settle for that, when her heart wants so much more?

***This novel is a standalone romance featuring characters first introduced in HOUSE OF PAYNE: SAGE. While an ex-wife is mentioned, there are no love triangles (because I frigging hate them and they make me stabby), no cheating, and no cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed. Due to adult language and sexual content, this novel is not intended for people under the age of eighteen.***

“Now’s probably a good time for you to learn something about men like me.”

“Men like you? You mean there are more of you?”

So she thought of him in terms of being unique. Interesting. “No matter what era we’re living in, men who are worthy of that label take one helluva lot of pride in taking care of their own—their women, and their babies. That’s just the nature of the beast.”

“Yeah, well, I take pride in taking care of myself. That’s my nature. Which,” she added on a sigh while moving up to the coffee stand’s counter, “probably explains why I’m still single.”

“You’re still single because eligible men don’t usually show up in the pediatric wing to find you, a crazy-hot woman with willowy long legs, an ass a porn star would envy, and ice that can burn like fire in her eyes. But I did,” he added, digging out his wallet before she could reach for hers. “The way I see it, that’s an opportunity right there. And if there’s anything I’m well-known for, it’s seizing an opportunity whenever I find it.”

The wary look she sent his way before she ordered a couple hot chocolates with extra marshmallows was fucking hilarious. “An opportunity?”

“Yep.”

“And seizing it.”

“Yep again.”

“So… wait. You’re saying I’m the opportunity you’re wanting to seize?”

“Your grasp of the obvious is amazing. It’s nothing to freak out about,” he added when she continued to stare at him like she suspected he might slice her up for sushi. “When I say seizing, I’m not talking about bashing you over the head and dragging you by your hair to my cave like some Neanderthal. I’ve got more finesse than that.”

“I’m thrilled to hear it.”

“All I’m saying is that almost from the first moment our paths crossed, I decided banging you would be one of the best decisions of my life.”

“Speaking of portable,” she added, turning to hand him his promised cookies, “lemon bars and red velvet crinkles. You’re going to have to hit the gym hard to work these off.”

“You think I have something to worry about?” A smile played around his lips as he set the cookies aside and grabbed her hands. Then he pressed them, palms flat, against his stomach and slowly moved them over the taut, clearly ridged muscles of what had to be a mouth-watering six-pack. “See? I wasn’t lying. I do work out to make sure my sweet tooth doesn’t get the better of me.”

She had to take a second to make sure she wouldn’t drool when she spoke. “So it would seem.”

“So? Think I should worry about getting… soft?”

“Perish the thought.” There went her heart again, tripping over itself. Who knew that another human being could cause a freaking heart condition? “I doubt I’ve ever felt anything more perfect than you. I think I’m impressed.”

His hands left hers to pull her by the hips up against him. “You think? You mean you’re not convinced?”

“It takes a lot to impress me.” Her skin lit on fire wherever they touched, and all at once the only thing she could think about was getting more of that fire and burning herself alive with it. “You’re going to have to show me more than this. A lot more.”

“And to think I believed you were skittish,” he marveled, lowering his head. “Guess I’ve still got a lot to learn about you.”

“I’m sure you’ll find I’m a very good teacher.”

“What I’m finding is that you like to talk when you should be kissing the hell out of me.”

“Ah.” She rolled up on her tiptoes, reveling in the friction between their bodies. “I should probably get on that.”

“Woman, I won’t be happy until you get on me.” He was still smiling when his mouth claimed hers and made her world explode.

“Here. Hold the lower stick like this.” Dropping his own sticks, Sage reached over and helped her cradle one of the chopsticks in the curve of her thumb, then steadied it by her last two fingers. “That pretty much stays there, so don’t mess with it, okay? Now, take the other stick and hold it kind of like a pencil, making sure that the ends meet up so that they can grip the food. Got it?”

“Oh, wow. I think I do get it.” Experimentally she clicked the chopsticks together, and was amazed when they didn’t fly out of her hand and put her eye out. Emboldened, she went to pluck a mushroom out to swirl it in the yellow heart of the egg topping her ramen. Instead, she flipped the mushroom completely out of her bowl, only to watch in horror at it landed in the middle of the table between them.

Great.

“At this rate, it’s going to take the entire dinner break just to get a couple bites,” she muttered while heat crawled up her neck. “Why don’t you just get this meeting started so we can get out of here.”

“An empty stomach means shaky hands, and that’s the one thing a tattooist can never have.” Plucking a mushroom out of his own bowl, he held it up to her mouth. “Eat. Then we’ll talk.”

Surprise locked her brain into dumbfounded silence even as she found herself taking the morsel into her mouth. Only when her lips closed over his chopsticks and the blatant intimacy of putting her mouth where his belonged snapped her out of it.

What in the world was she doing, allowing a virtual stranger to feed her? And how weird was it that she hadn’t even given it a thought. She was just letting him feed her like it was the most natural thing in the world. It wasn’t, of course. But…

Somehow it felt right.

Like this closeness between them was meant to be.

Though she knew all too well there was no such thing as meant to be.

That was just a fairy tale.

But still.

Putting her mouth where his had been, while he watched her with an intensity that stopped her heart, felt right. Perfect, even.

Meant to be.

New Release ~ Broken ~ by ~ Stacy Gail

Title: Broken
Series: Brody Brothers Series
Author: Stacy Gail
Genre: Contemporary, New Adult, Cowboy/Rancher Romance
Release Date: June 17, 2020
“The Hatfields and McCoys have nothing on the Brodys and Smileys.”
The feud was all Winnie Smiley heard about while growing up next door to those arrogant cowboys, the Brodys. Smiley homestead might be a dilapidated eyesore that she’d run away from as a teen, but it did possess something the Brodys had schemed in vain to get—Smiley Lake. Now, with the region crippled with drought and her monstrous father burning in hell, Winnie stands to inherit the lake. She knows that’s why Des is suddenly everywhere she turns, but that doesn’t matter. She’d never had a chance to grab at happiness before, so even if it’s just the lake Des wants, she’s going to make damn sure she’s part of the deal.

“The Smileys live to screw with the Brodys.”
After nearly dying on the horns of a murder-happy bull, former rodeo star Des Brody now has to figure out his place on Green Rock Ranch. All his brothers are settled with their new families, and they know exactly what to do to make Green Rock run. But Des? All he can do is try to make sure the empire they’ve built doesn’t shrivel up and blow away in the drought. Landing Smiley Lake is key to stabilizing Green Rock’s water supply, but there’s an obstacle—Winsome Smiley. Only she’s not really an obstacle. More like a meal begging to be eaten.
And he’s hungry as hell.

“I’m a Brody, and a Brody always gets what he wants.”
When Winnie doesn’t inherit Smiley Lake, she assumes she and Des are finished before they even began. To her shock, Des has other ideas and shows her an undiscovered world of pleasure. But just as she starts to believe Des wants her solely for herself, she discovers he hasn’t been totally upfront with her. Now she had a choice to make—trust her heart, or believe her ancestors had it right in saying that a Brody can never be trusted.
***This contemporary romance is the fourth and final book in the Brody Brothers series. While it may be read as a standalone, I suggest reading the first three books, BRANDED, BRACED and BRUISED for a more enjoyable read. This book contains multiple sex scenes and lots of swearing. It also contains a bossy Alpha who may compel you to throw your Kindle at the nearest wall (please don’t). No cheating, no love triangles, no cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed. Due to adult language and sexual content, this book is not intended for people under the age of eighteen***

***TRIGGER WARNING*** This book contains a heroine who suffered sexual abuse as a child, and a hero who suffered physical and emotional abuse. If you have issues with these elements, this book is not for you.

“What do you want in life, Winsome Smiley?” Automatically he turned in the direction of his old room, the one and only place that had been somewhat of a safe haven in this nightmare place. “What hopes and dreams does the girl next door have?”
“Probably not the kind that would set the Brody world on fire.”
“All that matters is if those dreams set your world on fire. Do they?”
She nodded in a shy little way that made him want to tug her to him and never let go. “I’ll admit, I do have a few dreams that are near and dear to my heart. What about you?” she added, glancing up at him with those heart-stopping pale eyes of hers. “What is it that you want out of life? Name the first thing that comes to mind.”
“You.”
Her gasp probably wasn’t the most encouraging response he could have hoped for. At least he had her attention.
“What?” she whispered, her free hand fluttering up to her chest. “Sorry, I misheard you. What?”
“You heard me just fine.” He didn’t bother to hide how closely he watched her, gauging her reactions to see just how far he could push things. “Though I think I need to make sure you understand me.”
“Um…”
“I’m attracted to you, Winsome—the look of you, the sound of you, the scent of you. I want you, more than I’ve ever wanted anyone in my life, and I want you to want me the same way.”
“Des.” As he watched, her eyes darkened with both an arousal that thrilled him and an alarm that made his teeth grind. “You can’t just pop off and say things like that.”
“Yeah I can, and I’m not done yet. I’m not done, because I want you to know the thoughts that go through my head whenever I look at you are so X-rated they’d make a porn star blush, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.”
“Holy crap,” she whispered.

“That’s why I want you to hunger for me like you haven’t eaten in a week and I’m your favorite dish. That’s how I hunger for you, so I won’t be happy until you feel the same way. I want you naked, and I want to be naked with you. In fact, I’ve wanted that from the moment I found you skinny-dipping. That’s a night I’ll never forget. I got so hard for you I couldn’t sleep that night. Not even jerking off with your name on my lips when I came was enough to satisfy me, and the cold shower I took afterwards didn’t cool me down either. So I’m not going to lie to you. When you ask what I want out of life, you are the first thing riding the top of my wish list. It’s best you know that.”
