“Hey, stop!”

She ran after him, thankful she’d put on her badass studded boots instead of the pair of heels she’d been jonesing after. An eight-hour shift on her feet would have her hating herself if she’d gone with the pretty shoes—and they would have made it impossible to catch up with the O’Malley.

She grabbed his arm and froze at the feel of his muscles flexing in her grip. Holy wow.

He finally turned to face her and it struck her that, without the bar between them, he was so much larger than she was. Not large like her ex, Sergei—this man was built lean instead of for brute strength—but he still dwarfed her. And he smelled good, like some kind of spicy men’s cologne that instantly had her thinking thoughts she had no business entertaining.

“Yeah, I got it. You win. I’m an asshole.”

“I didn’t say that.”

“Not in so many words, no.” His gaze raked her body much the same way it had back at the bar, making every alarm in her head go off. Spending any more time in this man’s presence was dangerous, though she couldn’t say for sure what she was most afraid of. She lifted her chin in challenge, demanding…She wasn’t sure what she was demanding. Her gaze dropped to his mouth, and she licked her lips. What am I doing? Walk away. Walk away right now.

Head dropped and chest heaving as rivers of ice-cold water slicked down my shoulders and back.

But it did nothing to lessen the need. Gave me no sanity or pacification.

Because all I could think about was the girl on the other side of the door.

In my bed.

Wearing just her panties and my shirt.

An angel I wanted to dirty.

I always had.

Love was messy like that.

All of my restraint scattered. I gripped my cock. Squeezed the base. My mouth dropped open at the pressure of my hand against my rigid length.

A fool thinking it might be enough.

God, I was a bastard, but there was nothing I could do before I was giving in, leaning forward and bracketing my forearm above my head to hold my weight.

Water pounded down on my head and back while I pounded my fist against my dick.

Trying to keep silent when all I wanted was to moan, teeth digging into my bottom lip as I pictured the girl spread out for me.

My breaths were coming short.

Panted and hard.

I gave into imagining the sounds she would make when I finally got to bury myself in her body.

A soft, soft gasp.

I slowed, trying to convince myself that throaty sound was all in my mind.

Just another part of this fantasy.

Until I heard the small thump against the wall.

I mashed my eyes closed, like it might hide me.

Conceal the depravity of my actions after I’d just been comforting her hours before.

Heart thrashing, I turned and moved far enough to peek out the small section where the fabric shower curtain hadn’t been drawn fully closed.

It was just a little sliver that left me exposed.

But it was enough. When I peered out, I was looking right at my girl pressed up against the wall.

She stared right back at me.

And I wanted to be horrified, my mind scrambling to conjure every weak apology I could summon. Ready to fucking grovel to keep her from turning and running once again.

Because that’s exactly what I expected her to do.

But her expression…her expression clutched me in the center of the chest and sent what little brain function I had left stampeding south.

Red, lush lips were parted, her hand pressed to her hollow of her throat, pupils dilated so big that her hooded, cerulean eyes appeared black. Needy breaths were coming at me from that sweet mouth like a goddamned freight train.

Desire swelled in the confines of the too-tight room.

Alive.

She pressed deeper into the wall as if it might support her weakened knees. Head rocked back. Thighs squeezing together.

Motherfuck.

My hand shot to the shower wall to steady myself. “Warning you, Edie, you need to get out of here. Right now.”

Holy emotional roller coaster Batman! I’m still in emotional hangover from this book so this review might be a little less wordy; for 2 reasons, I can’t form the words to describe it and I want everyone to read and experience this book!

You can read this book as a standalone but reading the whole series is better, in my opinion. Just because you can get the whole situation. And you get to revisit some of the characters from previous books!

Austin and Edie each have had one hell of a life and that just makes their story together that heartwrenching. You are happy at times and find yourself close to tears – at least I did. And you finally get to hear Austin’s story and why he left Edie.

I think Zara might be my favorite out of the 4 ladies. She’s just so extroverted and out there and she just says it like it is, no apologies. I was so interested in how she and Hatcher got together since they are so different. I love how every book in this series seems to focus on one particular couple but includes everyone along the way. And each story picks up where the other ended, not rehashing everything from a different couples perspective.

I can’t wait for more! I can’t decide if I want Frankie and Brody’s story more or Natasha and Diesel’s… They’re both so interesting! Brody and Frankie’s has a little more of a story behind it so I can’t wait!

Cade and Abi’s eyes meet across a crowded bar and instant heat. Cade comes over to Abi and their chemistry and flirting is off the charts! They go back to Abi’s house and have some fun for the night.

Each couples’ story is different but they’re all interconnected. I love box sets like this. You get to learn a bit about each character, enough so that you’re intrigued to know all about them. And we get that in this box set!

I personally love the family dynamic between characters like this where they have an awesome support system and people always willing to call them on their s**t.
