New Release & Review ~ Off Track ~ by ~ Chelle Sloan

Title: Off Track Series: Nashville Fury, Book 2 Author: Chelle Sloan

Contemporary Romance; Sports/football romance; Surprise Baby

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby carriage. I have wished for that saying to come true every day of my life. But that’s not my reality. Here is my version: First comes the blind date with an incredibly sexy football coach. Then comes the friends with benefits that you know is so wrong but you don’t care because it feels so right. Then comes the unexpected baby carriage. At least we got one in order. Except Davis doesn’t want the same things I do. I want to fall in love. He says love isn’t for him. I want a family. He has made it clear that a family is not on his agenda. But babies don’t care about your plans. They come when they are ready. Even if you aren’t. The same can be said about falling in love.

**The Nashville Fury series is a series of interconnected, standalone, sports romances.**

“What is the opposite of a gentleman?” I ask. Davis doesn’t answer as the bartender takes that opportunity to take our order. Vodka soda for me. Beer for him. As he’s trying to convince the bartender to put the drinks on Hunter’s tab, I take the opportunity to give him a better look. His dress shirt is rolled at the sleeves in the way that makes most women, including me, go ga-ga over. His eyes are a fascinating shade of blue that almost looks gray. Then there is his cologne. It’s a combination of a woodsy and manly scent that makes me glad I have to cross my legs in this dress. “The opposite of a gentleman,” he says, suddenly pulling me away from my unladylike thoughts. “is a man who just meets a woman and can’t stop looking at her legs, or wondering what they would feel like wrapped around him. The opposite of a gentleman is knowing we are here with our friends, but not being able to wait for the time we can leave. The opposite of a gentleman is wondering how I could know you from just a photo and a few words of conversation, but I already know I’m about to kick my friend’s ass for not introducing us sooner.” I reach for my drink that was just put down in front of me, needing the liquid to cool me down. What man talks like that? Definitely none I have ever been with. In my quest to find Mr. Right, I have dated douchebags and fuck boys. They tried to talk like Davis just did, but failed epically. Just sending a text saying, “U up?” isn’t the way to lure a woman to bed. Then there were the responsible guys. The ones with 401ks, savings accounts, and square footage with their name on the deed. They definitely never talked like that. But Davis? Davis knows what he wants. And apparently, right now, he wants me. Sadie might have said he doesn’t take things too seriously, but I’m guessing that doesn’t mean inside the bedroom. Unless he’s a big talker. But judging by the way he’s looking at me right now—with nothing but fire in his eyes—I would bet all the money I have in my bank account that this man can not only talk the talk, but can also walk the walk. This guy isn’t Mr. Forever. This guy has Mr. One Night written all over him. My dreams of this being my last first date are once again crushed. “Cat got your tongue, princess?” I ignore the pet name, not having any clue where he came up with it, and take another healthy sip of my drink as I gather courage for what I’m about to say. Because I’ve never said it before. One night. Maybe one night wouldn’t be so bad? At least this time I know what I’m getting into. There wouldn’t be any surprise when I wake up tomorrow morning and he’s already gone, quicker than the afterglow of what I expect would be a phenomenal orgasm—or three. And let’s be real, it has been a really long time since anyone has been anywhere near my bed. And definitely not a guy as attractive as Davis. Or with a man who can make my toes curl just with his words. Yes! This is perfect. I can’t get hurt if I know what I’m getting myself into. This time, I’m in control. Right? Well, at least going into it. If the way he’s looking at me right now says anything, I have a feeling he’s going to be in control for most of the night. And I don’t hate that. Not one bit. “Not at all,” I say as I lean a little closer to him. “I was just thinking I like the fact you’re not a gentleman. Being a gentleman doesn’t sound nearly as fun.” He lets out a small laugh. “I’m all about fun.” “I like the sound of that.” One night. No one gets hurt knowing the expectations. What could be the harm in that?

This story! HOLY CRAP!!! I definitely had to put this down because there were some events that happen that have happened to me recently and I just needed time to process what I was feeling and what the story was evoking in me. And then I had to just process the story of Davis and Bethany. But mark my words, the true mark of a great story is how it can make you feel and OH did this story make me feel!

Bethany is looking for her HEA and approaches every date that way. And then she meets Davis, who she is WILDLY attracted to, even though he is not a relationship guy. Davis has his reasons for avoiding relationships, and I get it, but Bethany is definitely his reason for breaking his rules.

I absolutely loved reading this story! It was so well thought out, outlined and jam-packed with all the feels! I do hope that Bryce’s story is next. I need to know what’s going on with him…

Synopsis

The last thing I expect is to wake up in bed next to my brother’s best friend. It’s a mistake I hope to forget when I go back to my life in Madrid.

But Camden is determined to pursue me despite the distance. I was wrong to think an ocean apart would be far enough to clear him from my mind and move on.

Especially when a positive pregnancy test shatters every plan, every dream.

Now I’m forced to tell a man who hasn’t had a serious relationship in all the years I’ve known him that he’s about to be a dad.

As soon as he learns the news, he’s on my doorstep, winning my heart and proving that he’s set on being a father to this child.

I begin to see a different version of the man I thought I knew, but life has other plans for us. And right when I think I’ve found a way to be with him, the unexpected throws our lives into chaos, threatening to rip it all apart.

Have I mentioned that I love the Everton series? I’m sure I have but if not, I LOVE THE EVERTON SERIES!!! Yes, these books are in the same series but each couple is its own story and not dependant upon the other books.

Allyson and Camden are aware of each other because Camden’s bestie is Ally’s older brother and has been for years. Oopsie when they somehow get drunk and spend the evening of Ally’s brother’s wedding together. Allyson is living in Spain for her job and only came home to attend Easton’s wedding. And Camden lives in the US, thousands of miles from Ally.

It’s amazing that they hadn’t thought of each other that way until the alcohol. But then they fit together so seamlessly. Even though everything was against them, they somehow made it work. And I’m so glad to have read their story!!!

New Release & Review ~ Dramatic, Mushy, Complicated Love ~ by ~ Leah Sharelle

💕NEW RELEASE💕
💕DRAMATIC, MUSHY, COMPLICATED LOVE💕

Meadow Lavender Tessler. Yep, that’s my name, believe it or not. My parents may be strange, but they raised my sister, younger brother and me to be independent, strong and to be our own people. Add to those qualities, I was also a tad dramatic, slightly complicated and a whole lot mushy. Whatever. I like who I am.
Love has not been mean to me, but neither has it been kind. Until one day, when a hot sexy spunk with a smirk that lit me up from the inside caught my attention. Luca quickly became my everything. Yes, we had issues here and there, and yeah, his family hated me, but love always won out in the end. Right?

Luca Massimo Donatella. I was named for my father and my grandfather, raised to be as great as them. Family always came first, my mother the most important being in my life. Until a blonde stunner came sashaying into my life and flipped it on its head.
Meadow broadened my way of seeing life, she showed me fun was just as important as being responsible . She gave me the chance to be the man I always wanted to before life got complicated by the death of my father. She taught me how to love from the deepest part of my heart. She was my game changer. Then the game dramatically changed in a way neither of us saw coming.

I loved meeting Luca and Meadow! And they were not like my preconceived notions thought they would be based on the synopsis. In my head, I figured Luca was a playboy, a different girl every night of the week, and Meadow was just as unserious. Which before things happen, Luca had been that way, at least somewhat. And then everything changed. Fast-forward years later, when Luca is the businessman and just focused on that until Meadow.

Meadow isn’t looking for anything long term but all bets are off with Luca. I love that kind of love. They were both so consumed with each other and just knew they met their “one”. And they have to fight for it and each other even though they knew they were meant to be.

This was a great story and while there was some slang I’ve never heard of, I was able to pick up the gist of what the intent was. Definitely a re-read book for me! An insta-love (almost) but a full-length story!

#EFRD-4 (1)

I read through the series this week after a busy work week. And this series and all the characters and Burns of course, were the perfect attention grabber for me. I could sink into the world of Peak Valley and not worry about work. Which was HUGE.

I’m so glad to finally know about Sarah and Eric. I was so intrigued by the little snippets here and there in Clint and Luke’s books so it was nice to get their whole story. Both have been involved in the other stories but this was the chance to finally get to hear their history and get to know them. Both as a couple and individually.

I’m so glad that I read the other stories first but it’s definitely not needed, so don’t feel you have to. I’m curious to know who Jax ends up with. I have thoughts but I’ll just leave them unsaid.

I cannot believe this series is Amanda Lee Dixon’s first because this is definitely the writing of someone truly talented and a seasoned-author.

Burns shifts to face me and points a finger at me. “I know you don’t like coming home. Peak Valley reminds you of all the losses you endured, but there were a lot of good memories, too. Don’t forget the good, Eric. We miss you.” Burns searches my face with a look of worry. The old man is more preceptive than I care to admit. After leaving Peak Valley, I rarely returned until recently. It was a reminder of the shitty childhood my brothers and I had, but he isn’t wrong that there were a lot of good memories, too. Wreaking havoc on Burns in particular.   “See.” He jabs a crooked finger into my shoulder with that goofy grin of his. “Remember that time we tried to convince Jax he was a sleepwalker, and we moved his sleeping butt around the house?” “Yeah, I remember.” I chuckle, unable to stop the smile from spreading across my face. Jax was baffled for weeks. “Remember when you and Sarah made a fake birth certificate for Clint on his sixteenth  birthday? He thought he had to wait another four months to get his driver’s license.” “I forgot about that one,” I murmur, remembering Sarah and I working on creating a near perfect fake birth certificate. We had just started dating but even then, I knew she was the one.  Thinking about Sarah only reminds me of her and McKnight. How very soon they will be prancing around Peak Valley as a happy family. Burns was right; I do have some good memories of Peak Valley, but all the really good ones were with Sarah.

Holy wow was I not expecting this! While it was a little slow-going (for me) in the beginning, it definitely had me sucked in very quickly!

Poppy is such a great character who you can tell has lived through some tragedies. Her story just breaks your heart. And Beau was the perfect person to be her hero. He has been a protector for years and something in Poppy brings out the protector in him.

Beau and Poppy both have had some sad times in their lives and horrific events. They both bring some baggage to this relationship. Much as they both start to fight off a relationship.

Jane Blythe is a new author to me so this was a great introduction that I will add to my rotation.

#MLTRD-17

I loved this story and Andie so much!! I felt her struggles on such a deep level. From being so work-driven and being so focused on doing a good job and getting a promotion, only to be passed up by someone who doesn’t have the same knowledge and skill set that Andie did. And working so hard and needing a MASSIVE break. Although I don’t have friends in Hawaii that I can take care of their business and chill in paradise.

This storyline and characters were just great! So often stories leave bits and pieces out but this new series is fantastic. I didn’t have any questions or anything that was unclear and confused me.

I cannot wait for more of this series and will definitely be on the look out! And I will be definitely reading this when I feel like Andie did.

#MLTRD-14 The dolphins splashed and squealed and played, spinning around close enough to rock our board. Warren paddled backward, ensuring we kept a safe distance. We sat in silence for about ten minutes more until one by one, they swam away.  Don’t go. I thought. Make him hold me for a little while longer.   “I found them the other day and thought of you. Wanted you to see this.”  “Will they stay? How long will they be here?”  “Each pod is different. Some migrate, some just stay in one territory. It’s hard to tell whether these are the ones that I saw the other day. The reef makes for an abundance of food around here.” “What an experience. I’ve never been this close to anything  like that. Thank you for bringing me here.”  “This is what I want, Andie. I don’t know much about you. I know you’re probably just passing through. But while you’re here, I’m going to make sure that moments like this make it hard for you to forget me.”  I smiled from ear to ear, excited about what I’d just witnessed and amazed at the comfort I felt with someone I hardly knew.  “In fact,” he said, holding out his arms to make sure I didn’t fall while I turned around to face him, legs crossed in applesauce. “I’d like to give you a moment like this every week, no questions asked. We don’t have to explain anything to anyone, you don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to about who you are or what you’ve done or didn’t do. No past, just the present. We can offer each other a fresh start.” His head moved closer, until my nose almost touched his. There was an undulating rhythm in the water. I rose up, he went down; he rose up, I went down. It only served to heighten the voltage that ran between his touch and my skin. His eyes turned dark and ominous. “And every weekend, until you leave, you’re mine.”  “Um, so weekends are really busy at the coffee shop,” I said with a flirtatious grin, trying to resist his charm. That smile was getting to me. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from his mouth.  “Not so fast, pretty lady. Fridays then. We go on a Moments Tour every Friday. Deal?” He offered me his hand. What did I have to lose?   “Deal.”

New Release & Review ~ Her Royal Fling ~ by ~ Jodie Larson

Her Royal Fling by Jodie Larson is now live!

It was only supposed to be for a few days.

When Mr. Tall, Dark, and Sexy asks me to play tour guide to him and his friends for their bachelor getaway weekend, I’m helpless to resist. Then again, I’ve always been a sucker for an accent, piercing blue eyes, and a panty-melting grin.

Luke and I shared an immediate attraction. From the moment our eyes met, I was a goner. I would have done practically anything for a little more time with him.

Even wanting to be his three-day vacation fling.

Reckless? Maybe. Do I regret it? Not a chance – even if I can’t get him out of my head.

When a wedding invitation shows up at my door, it takes all of half a second to make up my mind to see the man I can’t stop thinking about.

Only I may be in over my head.

Royally.

I stayed up WAAAAAYYYY to long reading this book! But Gia and Luke and their friends had me so wrapped up in their story!

Never have I been a bartender so I don’t know how real this scenario is, at least the group of hot, foreign guys being so chill. At least enough that she would accept the invite to hang out with them. I’ve only seem to gotten creepers that do that. But that’s neither here nor there.

Luke and Bryce might be my favorites, except for Gia. Gia is awesome! She sorta reminds me of a Rock Chick-type character. Which I love. She’s a beer-drinking, sports-loving, bartender and she makes no apologies for it. Luke is quite the charmer and definitely quietly sweet. Which makes sense since he’s trying to keep a secret, low-key profile while in the States.

I won’t tell you what happens but there is a bit of a cliffhanger which killed me last night but I know the rest of their story is coming soon!

5 stars!!

SNOW

As a young boy, abandoned by my parents and ripped apart from my twin sister, I learned early on that the world was full of evil and hate. I survived by living between the light and darkness, using my shifter abilities to stay alive…until one mistake should have cost me my life. Instead, it became my salvation and gave me a family and band of brothers who had my back no matter what.

The Dark Leopards MC was not a gang to be trifled with, and many gave us a wide birth, and as the Sergeant At Arms, I ensured that’s the way it stayed. But someone was trying to encroach on our territory and begin a war. I suspect the woman I saved, the woman whom I discover is my mate, is tied to it all somehow. I just have to figure out the puzzle before it’s too late.

VERITY

I was only trying to help a friend. The last thing I ever thought is that my friend would try to kidnap me, but thankfully someone or something saved me. Rushing to meet my roommate, Siam, I got another shock when the gang responsible for my brother’s death are her friends. I didn’t care if her brother had mesmerizing eyes or if I had a hard time not thinking about him. He was the enemy!

But even as my enemy, he may be my only chance to stay alive and learn the truth. And if Snow is the one protecting me in and out of bed, I wouldn’t complain too much.

**Previous published in Dark Leopards MC, Michigan Chapter, it has been expanded and contains new content.

I was on the verge of turning sixteen and needed some money. A thick billfold attached to a chain caught my attention. Easy pickings. Some shifters’ gifts could only be used while in their animal counterparts, but not mine. I had the ability to use mine both in animal and human form, and I took full advantage. It meant, if I wanted to, I could sleep with a roof over my head, and no one would be the wiser.

Ducking into an alley, I kept my eye on my target and stripped before activating my gift. I’d learned at ten that suddenly disappearing in front of anyone tended to make people freak out, and it was worse if you disappeared, but your clothes didn’t. In addition, no one wanted to see a kid strip down naked in the middle of the room so they could become invisible.

Stepping out of the alley, I noticed my target leaning against a big blue mailbox, scanning the area. Maybe he was looking for someone. Good. It meant his attention would be on whatever he was doing, and he was less likely to notice the disappearance of his wallet. He was making this too easy for me.

I moved closer and realized the man was a shifter, and my heart thudded. I swallowed hard, and it sounded loud in my ears. I inched my way toward him, slow and steady because I didn’t want him to realize I was there. There was always a higher level of danger when I stole from a shifter. However, it never stopped me.

His leather cut made me pause, but only for a second. This man was giving off a don’t fuck with me vibe, and I had the feeling many didn’t argue with him. I needed his wallet, though. Three more steps. The pounding pulse in my ears drowned out the sounds around me. This man was bad news. One more step. I could do this. I’d done it a million times, and this was no different than anyone else, except this guy could probably kill me. He had that look about him.

Reaching for his wallet, I noticed the back of his cut. FUCK ME! Not probably kill me. Definitely kill me. Dark Leopards MC was spelled out in bold letters along with their logo. I’d picked the wrong person to steal from…or had I? If I managed to get his fat wallet, not only would I have his money, I could have the satisfaction of knowing I’d stolen it from a patched member of the local badass MC.

Slowly and carefully, I detached the wallet from the chain and began to pull it out of his pocket, and then all hell broke loose. His large paw grabbed my wrist, squeezing hard, and I had to bite my lip to stop myself from crying out. It hurt like a motherfucker! How? How had he noticed me? He shouldn’t be able to see or smell me. I was completely invisible.

“Big mistake, boy,” he growled. See? Very naïve little shit.

I have never read a paranormal MC and why haven’t I?? Definitely going to be on the lookout for more in this series – hopefully just more than just Siam’s story because I need more!!

I was a little confused at first that Snow was a male and not a female. That definitely threw me. But once I read more, I was in! Snow and Verity are so interesting to read together. They are so great, each in their own way and I was totally sucked in!

I can’t wait for more and more of Siam. She intrigues me.

The alley was pitch black, but I could still see through the inkiness thanks to my animal counterpart. Like most other cats, snow leopards had great eyesight and could see in the dark. It also meant we could approach our prey without necessarily being detected. At the other end of the alley, a man was dragging a woman, his arm coiled around her neck, holding her tightly as she slapped and clawed at him, struggling to break free. One of her shoes was missing, her once pristine white dress had been soiled brown and ripped in spots, and her skin was marred with scrapes and cuts. I could already see some bruises forming on her arms and face. In her abductor’s other hand, the man held a large sharp knife under her chin. Holding her head high and away from the blade, she did what she could, but nothing worked. She wanted away from him and whimpered as she attempted to pull away, the tip of the knife poking her every time she did. Along the column of her neck, a red line of blood trailed down, stopping at the top of her pale breasts, which could be seen just above her low-cut sheath dress.

I saw red and fury flooded my system. I couldn’t control myself. My inner beast cried out, and before I knew it, I’d shifted without thought to where I was or who could have seen me. I didn’t care. My only concern was for this woman and taking out the bastard who dared manhandle her.

I was bigger than any normal snow leopard, but then again, I wasn’t fully beast or man. I was a hybrid of the two, and my sister and my brothers at arms were the same. Unlike Siam, though, I was a hunter, and I would catch my quarry.

This woman, the one this man dared to touch, was mine. My leopard had caught her scent, more pronounced in the narrow alley. Her emotions were making her pheromones leak from every pore on her body. Initially, I thought it was a different scent, flowery and crisp, something that beckoned to me, but it hadn’t clicked until I’d shifted. In this form, all of my senses were magnified, allowing me to see better, smell more, hear everything. Her scent wrapped itself around me, enticing me, prodding me to act and save her. The beast within me understood immediately. We were smelling our mate. The one person who would belong to me alone, and no one else was allowed to touch her. The bastard had to die for what he had done to her.

Stalking on the soft pads of my feet toward him, I yowled, warning him I was coming. Of course, being a snow leopard, it wasn’t as menacing as a tiger, lion, or almost any other kind of big cat. It came out more as a growl mixed with a seal bark, which sounded more like a whiney ass cat. It was the only drawback, but what I lacked in roar, my snow leopard made up for in spades with everything else. Besides, if he thought I wasn’t a danger to him, that was his own damn fault. I was large and could leap farther and higher than any other cat on earth. I could also spin on a dime if needed. There was no way my prey would ever be able to get away from me once I was locked onto my target.

I saw him flinch. The bastard heard my call, and thanks to the buildings, it pelted him from all angles, echoing around him, making my yowl sound more menacing than it normally did. I cried out again and watched as he looked from side to side, trying to find me up high, never looking directly in front of him.

I have never read a paranormal MC and why haven’t I?? Definitely going to be on the lookout for more in this series – hopefully just more than just Siam’s story because I need more!!

SYNOPSIS

The only thing tempering their insta-hate is delicious attraction.

Sunny chocolatier Charlotte Beecher is unemployed, in student debt, and on the verge of hawking her beloved copper pots just to make ends meet. So when a gourmet chocolate factory chooses her as one of five candidates to help re-launch the company in their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired competition, Charlotte begins to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Fellow contestant Luke Wells complicates her plans to win by a landslide with his flow charts and marketing projections. Mr. Tall, Dark, and Haughty is all about the bottom line and is as bitter as she is sweet. And when he snubs Charlotte in the first challenge, misunderstanding or not, she transforms from cream puff to jawbreaker. Bring. It. On.

But when these two rivals find themselves distracted by delicious attraction, will they let their passion get in the way of winning the competition?

This was the story I needed!! Work has been so cuckoo bananas busy that reading Charlotte and Luke’s misadventures definitely helped brighten the week. Charlotte, who I’m guessing is named after Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is a chocolatier who is down on her luck. She needs a job like yesterday and cannot get a job in a chocolate factory, for reasons. Not telling, you’ve got to read it.

Enter Charlotte’s chances of becoming Chief of Chocolates through a TV reality show competition. And of course, you can see that Luke will be one of her competitors for the coveted title. Both Charlotte and Luke have their reasons why they want to win the competition and so they are immediately oil and water. At least moreso than Charlotte is with any of the other contestants. But the opposite of hate is love right and so the sparks that Luke and Charlotte ignite off each other turn into a flame.

This book was funny, sweet (in more ways than one!) and a genuine good read. I was swept up in the story of who would win and how and if both Luke and Charlotte will realize their dreams.

5 stars!
