Release Blitz & Review ~ Dr OB ~ by ~ Max Monroe

Dr Will Cummings is #LIVE!!!

DrOBfinal cover

Blurb:

It’s just a docuseries about your career as an OB/GYN, they said.

It won’t interrupt your life during or after filming, they said.

It is a great opportunity for the hospital and your practice, they said.

Well, they—the television executives who seem intent on ruining my career and personal life with a fair number of creative liberties—lied.

Now I’m stuck dealing with the consequences of believing them.

Instead of being known as Dr. Will Cummings, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke’s Hospital, I’m now being called Dr. Obscene.

What I’d hoped to earn in respect, I’ve instead received in patients flashing me seductive smiles and flirtatious winks during their exams.

How’s a guy supposed to convince the most perfect woman he’s ever met that he’s not as much of an idiot in real life as he appears to be on camera?

With all of the show’s shenanigans following me around like a parasite, it’s going to take a lot to persuade Melody Marco to be anything more than my new nurse, but I can’t get her out of my head.

I want her.

Good thing I’ve never been one to back away from a challenge…

Get ready, Melody.

The Doctor is in.

TBRreview

Do not read this when you’re about to go to sleep or at work. It’s too hysterical for either instance! And probably why I slept only 3 hours last night.

Dr Will Cummings is Georgia’s brother from the Billionaire Bad Boys series. Will is an OB/GYN who truly loves his job. So when there’s an opportunity to have a docuseries about him and the hospital, he thinks it will be the perfect way to raise money for the hospital. Oh he does NOT know what is coming.

Melody has moved back to NY and is living with her parents. She had a relationship go sour and she went home. She ends up at St Luke’s hospital as Will’s nurse who knows nothing about the docuseries Will is in.

Add in crazy friends, family, creative curses and you’ve got the next AMAZE-BALLS Max Monroe series! I can’t wait for more from this crazy hilarious duo.

Before That Night
Before that night, Addison Milan had been just a college dropout secretly raising her two young siblings in a beat-up minivan she’d bought with her first semester’s tuition
refund–the only money her addict mother hadn’t taken off with when she’d
abandoned them nearly two years ago.
Before that night, Caine Spencer had been just a rough, gruff cop sent to check

he’d met just months prior when she’d first served him the city’s worst diner
coffee…which he’d been drinking daily ever since.
Before that night, Addison would never have thought the man she’d been fighting hard not to fall for–her only friend in her new shadow of a life–would be in

Violet Duke is one of my #mustread authors! And Caine and Addison’s story just cements why she is!

Caine is so alpha-y goodness and growly and has a crazy group of brothers/friends and I just love them! Oops and sister. Can’t forget Lia. And Alec. Even though he’s Addison’s friend first, he fits right in and I love it. Can’t wait for his story!

Addison and her siblings have had a crap hand delivered to them. But Addison is NOT going to let that happen any more. She’s going to make sure Kylie and Tanner want for nothing and she does an AMAZING job with them. I wish there were more kids like they are.

Caine and Addison’s story spans years but it’s well worth it. And in this box set, you get them all in one!

Release Blitz & Review ~ Beauty in Winter ~ by ~ Alexa Riley

goodreads-badge.png

Fiona Lamb has lost everything, and her only option is to work for a reclusive billionaire to get back the one thing that’s most important to her.

Reid Gold has been cursed. He’s the alpha shifter, but he’s unable to change into his wolf and lead his pack. But one scent of his mate and everything changes.

Warning: This beauty and the beast-inspired story is quick, filthy, and over-the-top alpha. Hold on to your Kindles because Reid’s inner beast finally gets to come out and play.

*Fiona*

“Miss Lamb, Mr. Blackden is ready for you.”
I look up at the woman who has been watching me from the corner of her eye since I walked into Blackden Law Firm thirty minutes ago. I don’t blame her. I’m a mess and out of place against the elegant interior of the law firm. I know this, but I just can’t find the will to care. All I want is for this to be finished. I need to take the next step in my life and try to move on, if not for myself then for my grandma.

I told her I’d be okay and that I wouldn’t let my grief drag me down.
My grandma was buried yesterday, but final decisions on her estate had to be made. I’m here for one thing, and one thing alone. I pray there’s enough money from the sale of our home and antiques my grandma left me to cover the bill from the hospital. There is only one thing I want from all of this, and that’s the rose ring.

I want it more than anything. My grandma never took the ring off her finger since my grandpa put it there when he asked her to marry him. When I was little she’d tell me about their love as a bedtime story. Then when she got sick it was my turn to tell her the story as she lay in bed fighting for her life.

Even then I knew she was only fighting to stay with me. She didn’t want to leave me all alone in the world. I don’t remember my parents. The only family I had ever known were my grandma and grandpa, but in my eyes, they were my parents. They raised me, kept me safe, and made me feel loved. She and my grandpa were the only people I had and we’d lost him five years ago. Then it was just the two of us. But now she’s gone and I’m all alone.

I swallow the lump in my throat and stand. Reaching down, I grab my oversized bag that I’ve been carrying around since the auction. It’s all I have left. Everything else is gone.
The woman turns, heading down the long hallway, with her heels clicking on the marble with each step. She leads me to a set of double doors, the dark, carved wood gleaming. She grabs the handle and pulls one open for me. She motions for me to go in and nods as I pass.
“Thank you,” I mumble as I step through.

I hear the click of the door closing behind me as a man behind the desk on the other side of the room stands. I can see a small smile pull at his lips, but I can’t find it in me to smile back.

“Miss Lamb,” he says.

“Was there enough?” The words fall from my lips before I have a chance to think about it. And I’m not sure I care. That’s the only thing I need to know.

“Why don’t you have a seat?” He motions to one of the chairs in front of his desk, not answering my question.

I step forward, getting a better look at him. He doesn’t look like I thought he would. We talked on the phone a few times over the past weeks. His deep voice made me think he’d be a heavy-set man, but he isn’t. He’s thin and tall with brown hair and brown eyes. He gives me a bright smile, this time flashing his teeth. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Against my better judgment I do as he asks, even though I still want my answer more than anything. Something is wrong though. I can feel it.

I drop my bag next to the chair beside me, drawing Mr. Blackden’s eyes. I swear he smiles even more at the sight, and I want to shout at how unfair this all is. It’s nothing to smile at.
“We had to sell all of it, Miss Lamb.”

I close my eyes at his words and try to fight the tears. I nod, then begin to stand. What else is there to say? I don’t want to go over all the odds and ends of how everything was auctioned off. I want out of here. I want to find a cheap hotel for the night and let myself have a good cry.
Tomorrow I’ll pick myself up and see if I can get my old job back. I had to quit to be at my grandma’s side for the last few months, but I have to find something quick.

“But I can get it for you.” His deep voice penetrates my fog of sadness.
I freeze, my eyes snapping to his. He leans back in his chair, seemingly without a care in the world. He doesn’t go on. I feel as if he wants me to beg him, and to be honest, I will. I’m not above anything right now.

“How?” I ask, and he motions for me to sit back down. I drop down into the seat, but scoot to the edge.

“The ring was valued at $200,000,” he informs me. I gasp. “It had to be sold to cover the rest of the debts. Your grandmother had taken out a second mortgage on her home, and she also stated in her will to clear up any debt you had as well.”

I hang my head, my dark brown hair falling forward and shielding my face. I didn’t know she knew. I had run up some credit cards trying to make ends meet for us. I didn’t want her to know about them. I was going to take care of them later. It wasn’t something she needed to worry about.
“You said—”

“That I can get you the ring,” he finishes, sitting up in his chair. He grabs a folder and opens it. A large stack of papers sits inside it, clipped together.

“I have a job proposal for you. It’s a live-in job. You’d stay on the estate and assist the owner in anything he needs.”

“I’ll do it.” I stand up, grabbing a pen off the table. He turns the folder toward me, and I flip through the contract quickly to get to the last page. I see a place I need to sign, so I scratch my name on it quickly and toss the pen down.
When I look back up at Mr. Blackden, I watch as he grabs the papers from me, sliding them back into the folder.

“You smell fertile. Mr. Gold is going to be very pleased.”

I glance at the folder he has in his hand and wrinkle my brow in confusion. I have no idea what he’s talking about, but his words and the look on his face make me think that maybe I should have read that contract…

TBRreview

A quick, sexy, hot read from those favorites of mine, Alexa Riley. There are some funny phrases but overall, I liked it. It wasn’t too out there like some paranormals which I don’t like.

Fiona needs to make some money and goes to her grandmother’s lawyer to discuss what is left of her estate. There’s nothing – including her rose ring but he has a job lead for her to make money to purchase her rose ring back.

Reid is a shifter who was cursed not to be able to shift to his wolf form. So he’s the alpha of the pack who isn’t actually a full shifter. He has wolf-like features but isn’t a full wolf until he smells his mate.

Release Blitz & Review ~ Forging Forever ~ by ~ Dani Wyatt

Standing on her tiptoes at a Renaissance Fair, Lela Marshall catches a glimpse of just how hot a forge can get. Even from fifty feet away, she’s never felt this sort of heat. And it’s coming from between her legs.

Miller Rhodes has a gigantic problem. He’s met the woman he knows is destined to be his. Only, she’s disappeared into a crowd and took his heart and his future with her. For once, even work can’t distract him from thoughts of the way her lips tasted for one brief moment under the July sun.

Can a sock-chewing puppy and a meddling mother be the solution to Miller’s problem? Will this knife forging hard-ass find his soft spot in the girl that stole his heart after just one kiss?

Author’s note: Lose yourself in the heat radiating from this filthy talking alpha. He’s a man of few words, but he definitely isn’t lacking on how to use his mouth in other ways. Suspend reality for a bit with this love at first kiss, happily ever after, scorching hot read. Safe, indulgent and *touches finger to butt and listens for the sizzle*.
My dick is forged steel. Sure, it’s been fucking hard ever since I laid my eyes on her, but nothing like this.
This kind of hard-on exists only for her. Well, in three months they’ve all been for her, but right now even my dick knows the universe is speaking and it’s saying that’s all mine.

My mom used to tell me stories about the men in her family. Back then, I didn’t believe that shit. She told me the Rhodes men knew when they found their mate that it’s like a sixth sense and that’s it — there can never be anyone else.  Since my father was missing in action, I took my mom’s name.  And now the Rhodes legend which I’d formerly dismissed, I now know to be gospel.

This acute awareness of her consumes me—that there is one woman for me, only one, and she’s right here. Right now. And there is no question left. I’m taking what’s mine.

I’m ready to gnaw her clothes off and fill her with so much cum she’ll be giving birth to a litter nine months from today.

My tongue pushes between her lips, and the taste of her has me seeing red, planning our fucking wedding. I swear to Christ.

Visions of her wearing white and saying “I do” fill my head like a long-lost dream.

Her tongue meets mine, and my hands fly to the back of her head. My fingers tighten in her hair, gripping and holding on for dear life. She tastes like sweet tea and fresh honey. The lust of summer mixed with the freshness of spring.

My erection nearly tears through the top of my pants trying to get at her. I wonder if she’s wet. The thought of it has me ready to nut in my pants.

The little moaning, gasping sounds she’s making as our tongues do a few laps with each other, back and forth, are music. My gut is tight. I’m already desperate to keep her here. To be sure she can never leave.

I pull back from our kiss, needing to see her face. To know she wants me like I want her.

Her cheeks have turned a deep, rose red, more than a blush, and her shimmering blue eyes are half lidded as I devour the beauty of her face. I loosen my grip in her hair even as my mind is filled with the image of me pressing her to her knees, her plump lips opening to take in every inch of my thick cock.

Fuck, I need this girl.

This is beyond wanting. Need. No doubt in my mind I need her in order to draw my next breath.

The tension in my muscles feels as though I’m holding a pose for the judges at Mr. Universe.

I can’t relax. I won’t relax. Not until I’m inside her, showing her just what it’s going to mean to belong to me.

Because she does.

She belongs to me.

“Wow.” She brings the back of her hand to her lips.

For a moment, I’m pissed because I think she’s going to swipe it across her mouth and wipe away the wetness of our kiss.

Instead, she presses her knuckles there, her eyes close for a moment, and she breathes long and slow. Her hand flips over, and she sets her fingertips to her lips, as though she’s holding our kiss in place.

Savoring us. I nearly come undone at the beauty of the moment.

“I have a single question for you,” I rumble, standing as close as I can to her without touching. Staring down as she gives me a wary look upward, waiting for what I’m going to say next. “Since that first day we met…”

I trail off, suddenly terrified I won’t get the answer I need. My chest constricts. I swallow hard and throw it out there because I have to know.

“Have you ever touched yourself thinking about me? Imagined me inside you?” I’m fixed on her face, watching for the truth there.

My bold question has her mouth dropping open, her lips quivering in an uneasy smile, but her eyes answer me with a twinkle, staying pinned on mine. The relief floods my body, even as blood fills every remaining micro vessel of my cock. It’s bent at a painful angle inside my pants. The length I know will fill her. The thickness will hurt her, but she needs to be mine in every way. I will be as gentle as I can, but even now I know it may not be possible to make it easy.

I want her like an animal. I want to keep her tied to my bed and fuck her until her belly swells and the only word she knows is my name.

“Yes,” she whispers, tugging her lips to the side.

So fucking cute. Damn, she’s perfect.

Her single-word answer confirms what I already know, and her hand leaves her lips, reaching out to touch the side of my face.

TBRreview

Lela sees this gorgeous hunk of man and is fascinated by watching him create iron works AND watching his body and muscles move. Which in the description of Miller, I don’t blame her ONE BIT! I would be too.

Miller sees this vision watching him forge and he has to stop what he’s doing and meet her. And claim her. She’s his. No question. But then she gets swept away. Until fate steps in.

This was a sweet, uber alpha instalove which if you’ve read any of my reviews, you know I love those! This is definitely one I will be re-reading!!

Release Blitz & Review ~ Game Ender ~ by ~ BJ Harvey

Title: Game Ender

Series: Game Series #4 – The series finale
Author: BJ Harvey
Genre: Romantic Comedy with Heat
Release Date: April 17, 2017
Cover Designer: Najla Qamber Designs

From USA Today bestselling author BJ Harvey comes the fourth and final book in the Game series and this time it’s the reformed playboy and the single mom.

***

“You have chlamydia.”

Three words no man wants to hear.

I’ve always been liberal with my appreciation of the female form, a firm believer in the ‘try before you buy’ principle, but living life to the fullest obviously didn’t end well for me considering the unexpected—and very unwelcome—consequence of my free and easy past.

After living through the horrendous experience that was informing my recent sexual partners of my acquired ‘condition,’ I made a vow to myself – and a bet with my best friend—that the next woman I sleep with will be the ‘one.’

What I will learn is that even when something happens and the games come to an end, there’s always the chance of something—or someone—crashing in and changing everything.
So this is my story. It may start with a venereal disease, but I promise you, I’m determined to get my happy ending.

“I’ve narrowed it down to five reasons why a woman would throw a drink at a man.”

He leans back and crosses his perfectly toned arms over his chest.

“Impart your wisdom, oh wise bartender.” He takes another drink of his beer and—yet again—watching me like a hawk. I wish he’d stop watching me.

My confidence wavers under his intense stare but when I catch a knowing glint in his eye, it riles me up. There’s nothing worse than a guy who hides his unease behind a cocky façade, especially when I know there’s something genuine hiding there.

It’s one of the worst qualities a guy can have. It’s disingenuous and fake and if there’s two things I hate—in anyone—it’s that.

I square my shoulders and stand up straight, deciding to let him have it, putting my hands out in front of me to count on my fingers.

“One, you cheated on her.” He shakes his head, an amused smile playing on his lips.

“Nope. Next.”

“Two, connected to the first, you hooked up with her sister, best friend or mother . . .” He snorts at that one, chuckling under his breath as he shakes his head again.

“Right, then, the last three,” I continue. “Three through five are offending her family/job/friends or outfit, asking her to pay for your date and lastly, giving her an STD.”

His eyes grow wide and he sits bolt upright.

Bingo.

review
Thomas is a manwhore until he hears he has the big C. No, not cancer, chlamydia. Then after going on a tell-all tour to his previous partners, he makes a bet to abstain until he meets “the one”. He’s on his last confession to a partner at the bar where Amy works.

Amy has always thought Thomas was attractive but she knows he’s just out for a good time. She bears witness to his confession and is just able to lend an ear.

Fast forward a few months, and some BIG changes happen in both Thomas’ and Amy’s lives. But through it all, these 2 unlikely friends have each others backs.

This was a hilarious conclusion to the Game Series! And definitely in reading it, makes me want to re-read each of the 4 couples’ stories because I love them so much!

I think this is a close 2nd for me out of the whole series. I like Liam and Abby’s story best but this is definitely a close second.

Corbin is trying to get back his musical mojo and drive and enthusiasm. He ends up picking up a gig with a zydeco band. Which sidenote, I LOVE zydeco! It’s so fun and the beats are just great! Anyway, Corbin picks up a gig with Bayou Beaux. He decides he will come help out for their bass player in Louisiana.

Aimee is running her uncle Daniel’s bar/restaurant while his band has a gig in Texas. Suddenly there’s a new bass player in the band and whoa is he hot! Aimee has sworn never to be a rockstar groupie like her mom and Corbin is part of one of the biggest bands around.

This was a great story with a total dash of Louisiana flavor! I could hear the accents and words these people were saying. It just makes me wonder what Wes’ story will be and how will he get his HEA.

Blog Tour & Review ~ Ain’t He Precious? ~ by ~ Juliette Poe

FanPageBannerNowAvailable

Ain't-He-Precious-FOR WEB-newWelcome to Whynot, North Carolina, population 3,872. It has one stoplight, one bar, and the one-and-only Trixie Mancinkus.

Eleven years ago, Trixie graduated Harvard Law, turned down a job offer from one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston, and headed home to Whynot to open her own firm. Not only did she leave behind the big city, but she also left her boyfriend of three years. And just so we’re clear… that would be me.

So what am I doing in Whynot at this very moment? It seems Trixie needs help with a legal case and for some insane reason, she called on me for assistance. I’ve been in town for five minutes, and I’m every bit as out of place as I feel. Trixie is all sweet, southern curves to my tailored suits and high-priced haircuts. It’s a culture clash of north versus south and about the only thing we have in common is our physical attraction to each other.

But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.

Over lettuce wraps, I let her vent more about her brother but I only let this go on during the appetizer. Once our entrees arrive, I insist we change the subject. She’s not calming down, only getting more worked up, and diversion has always worked best with Trixie.

“Raleigh seems to be a nice town,” I say conversationally in an effort to get her relaxed.

She rolls her eyes at me because as much as I know how to “handle” her when her temper is spiked, she recognizes the fact that I am indeed handling her. Apparently, she finds it adorable. She cuts a piece of her orange chicken and gives in to my attempt to switch the conversation. “It really is. It’s spread out so you don’t have that overwhelming big-city feel, but you have all the luxuries a big city affords like museums, professional sports, fine dining, etcetera.”

“Overwhelming is an interesting choice of words,” I observe. “You didn’t feel that way in Boston, did you?”

I’m surprised when her cheeks turn a bit red. Her voice is reluctant when she admits, “Yeah… it was a bit too much for me.”

My mouth hangs open as I stare at her. How could I not know that? We had made plans to live in Boston, and there was a time when she was completely on board.

“I’m sorry,” she blurts out. “I know what you’re thinking… Why would I have even considered all those plans we’d made if I felt that way?”

“Got to admit… this is a bit surprising to hear.”

Trixie puts her fork down and levels her gaze on me. “Ry… I loved you. And I loved Cambridge. It was small and well… comfortable. It wasn’t small like Whynot, but it reminded me of home a bit. But honestly, I was only considering staying there in Boston because of you. I didn’t like it at all. Too many people. Too much concrete and glass. Too much noise. It’s just not me.”

“You should have said something a lot earlier than you did,” I reprimand her quietly. I can’t help feeling a bit angry over this revelation, because who knows what would have happened had we had some honest discussions about where we wanted to go that could suit both of us.

“Would it have changed anything?” she asks me bluntly. “You were set on Boston. You wanted that job at Hayes Lockamy. You worked your ass off at Harvard and the clerkships to get that job offer. It was everything to you.”

“It wasn’t everything,” I tell her sharply.

“Maybe not,” she retorts. “But it clearly meant more than me. As I recall, I asked you to come to Whynot to practice, and I got a resounding ‘no’ to that offer.”

“You sprung that on me at literally the last minute, Trixie,” I say angrily. “After I’d accepted the job offer at Hayes Lockamy. You didn’t give me any time to process any of it.”

“And you didn’t bother to try to talk me into staying,” she snaps.

“Seriously, Trix,” I say in exasperation. “I’ve been here two days, and I’ve watched you in your element. You were born to live here. This is where you’re supposed to be. Being a small-town lawyer in Whynot surrounded by your close-knit, if not nutty, family is what brings you joy. Are you seriously trying to infer that you would have left all of this to stay in Boston with me if I’d just tried to talk you into staying?”

“No, what I’m saying,” she sneers at me as she leans across the table but I don’t miss the light sheen of tears in her eyes, “is that you and I clearly weren’t meant to be, and we’re both better off for making the choices we did.”

Now that hits me hard, right in the middle of my chest, and I have to resist the urge to rub my knuckles over my breastbone to ease the pain.

Trixie merely pushes up from her chair, grabs her purse, and practically runs out of the restaurant.

“Shit,” I mutter as I stand up. I grab my wallet, take out enough money to cover the meal and tip, and toss it down on the table.

I jet out of the restaurant, scan the area, and see Trixie walking quickly toward her car. I wouldn’t put it past her to jump in it and drive off without me, so I break into a fast trot to catch up with her. My hand latches onto her elbow just as she reaches her car, and I spin her to face me.

“What the hell, Trix?” I ask her with frustration, anger, and a little bit of self-loathing that I let the conversation get so out of hand. I’ve always been the mild-mannered one between the two of us, knowing how to deftly control and sidestep her temper so it doesn’t get the better of her.

Or me.

I brace, expect her to rail and rant some more. Instead, she launches herself right at me, making a tiny hop to throw her arms around my neck. Her mouth comes to mine hard as one of her hands grips into my hair, fisting it tight.

Jesus Christ… stars wink in my vision at the feel of her mouth on mine, so long forgotten and yet completely familiar all at once. I don’t think—just act. My arms band around her tight, hauling her body to mine. I push her back into the side of her car, tilt my head, and I kiss her back with every bit of longing and regret that she seems to be mutually feeling in this moment.

Maxon Maxon Maxon! I spent about half the book hating him and half of it loving him. Maxon is determined that he’s going to beat his backstabbing brother at being able to sell this amazing property on Maui. Which seriously, it’s Maui, is there a “bad” property?? Moving on, he’s discussing the plan with his employees at a bar when he is struck. He sees the most gorgeous woman who he knows will be the perfect distraction for his brother from bidding on the property.
I love Keeley. There was never a point where I didn’t. And she made me think about my own life and philosophies about things. She agrees to Maxon’s insulting proposal because she knows she needs business knowledge that Maxon can provide to achieve her goals.
This was a sweet story that made me laugh at times and almost cry. Which isn’t the best at work. This ends in an HEA but you HAVE to know what happens with Griff. And you will, in the next story. Oy!!

Ok so for my second Kylie Scott read of today, and I love it just as much as the first. Like I said with Dirty, I haven’t read Kylie Scott before and dear god will I be fixing that STAT!

Alex Parks is headed to Dive Bar to meet Eric, the guy she’s been conversing with online for months. What a shock when it’s not pretty boy Eric but his hot Bigfoot brother Joe. Who I would climb like a tree. But moving on.

Alex can’t believe that the person she’s opened up to over months isn’t who she thought he was. Although considering the real Eric, I think Joe was a better option. No offense Eric. But Alex is more of a homebody so this was a BIG step for her.

Joe knew he should have just stopped talking to Alex online as his brother but he was just liked having an outlet that didn’t know his family, his friends and just someone to talk to.

Another confession, yes I have talked to men online. And I have met some. Thankfully, they have been exactly who they portrayed themselves to be. And one is even a really good friend. But I totally understand how hurt Alex was by Joe being Eric online.

Series: Imperfect Heroes, Book 4
Author: C.J. Pinard
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Military Romance
Release Date: April 11, 2017

He’s been broken, repaired, and has finally risen above his devastating injury.
She’s a cute, foul-mouthed nurse with an attitude as big as the ocean, but has a caring heart even bigger.
They once loved each other back when life was simple and being an adult wasn’t an issue. What was once a beautiful love turned into a devastating heartbreak. Are they brave enough to give it another try now that life is complicated and ugly? Because while their circumstances once tore them apart, love was never their problem.
KYLE
Eighteen years old when she broke my heart. Eighteen years old when I left to join the Marine Corps, knowing when I got back, she would not be there waiting for me. I never expected to see her ten years later, all heartbroken and humbled. I just don’t know if I can go there again with Adria Green. She’s short, sassy, and even more stubborn than she was when we were kids – and painfully more beautiful. So why do I find myself completely and inexplicably drawn to her? Because what drew me to her back then has been reignited without my permission, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to douse the old flame. I’ve already lost half a leg. I can’t lose my heart, too.

ADRIA
Am I to blame for my actions when I was just a kid and starting out at life? I was stupid back then, but I’m not stupid anymore. I’m educated, confident, and after my ex-fiancé cheated on me and left, I’m even more careful with who’s going to get my heart. Seeing Kyle Adams after all these years made my heart stop and then almost drop out of my chest. He’s even more gorgeous and considerably more built than he was when we were in high school – despite the injury. I feel myself being pulled toward him like nothing I’ve ever felt, not even back then. But can we go there again? Can you really and truly go back? No, I don’t believe you can. I’m just not sure I can go forward now, either.
Beyond Love is book 4 in the Imperfect Heroes Series, and is for readers 18+. Contains adult situations, language, and minor scenes of war.

I parked in my designated spot in my apartment complex’s lot and unbuckled Luke, pulling him out and setting him down. I handed him his backpack and held his hand as we made our way to our first-floor apartment. Lucy followed faithfully at my side.

“Can we go swimming, Dad?” he asked, eyeing the pool.

“You calling me Dad again?” I asked, smiling. He could always make me smile even when I didn’t want to.

“Okay, Daddy. Can we?”

I ruffled his hair and said, “No, let’s get something to eat. I’m starving. Aren’t you?”

“What’s for dinner?” he asked as I looked down at him, and then my keyring to get my house key ready.

We rounded the corner to my unit and I heard, “Chinese takeout.”

I looked up to see Adria sitting on my front step’s mat, sitting cross-legged, wearing shorts and a tank top. Beside her sat two white bags with takeout containers in them.

I froze for a minute, and then a huge grin spread across my face.

Luke froze. “Who’s that, Daddy?” he whispered.

Adria stood and walked to meet us. Crouching down, she said, “Hi, Luke. I’m Adria. We met at Duke’s house at the barbeque a few weeks ago. Do you remember that?”

He shook his head and looked up at me.

“Say hello, son.”

“Hi,” he said, a small smile on his face.

She put her hand out. “It’s very nice to meet you. Your dad has so many nice things to say about you.”

Luke’s eyes got big and he looked up at me, then back at her. “Really?”

She tapped his little nose and stood up, laughing quietly. “Yep.”

I couldn’t stop staring at Adria with my son. It was beautiful. She was beautiful, and he wasn’t being his usual shy self around her.

She picked up the bags and said, “Do you like Chinese food?”

He looked up at me. “What’s that?”

“You will love it,” I told him. I’d never given him any since we rarely ate out.

He smiled.

I opened the door to the apartment and prayed it was clean. Well, clean enough. I kept it picked up most of the time, but today had been such a blur I couldn’t remember.

Adria wasted no time finding the kitchen and opening up the bags. I sort of felt like it was weird that she was here without any notice or explanation, but knowing what I knew about her, I knew she would tell me. I was touched by her generosity nonetheless.

“Luke, go put your backpack in your room, then go wash your hands, please.”

“Okay, Daddy.”

As he disappeared around the corner, I went behind Adria and purposely pressed my body against her backside as she attempted to open the high cabinets to find plates. Easily opening one and pulling out two plates for us, I placed them in front of her on the counter.

With a smirk on her face, she turned around and looked up at me. “I had that.”

“No, you didn’t,” I replied.

“Okay, I didn’t,” she whispered as she stared up at me with curious brown eyes.

I pointed to the food. “Are you always this spontaneous?”

She shook her head. “Harper told me where you went today. I didn’t want you to be alone tonight. Whether you are celebrating or sad, I wanted to be here. It just felt right.”

Damn, did she know me or what? “I’m kinda speechless,” I said, not breaking eye contact, but pulling back from her even though I didn’t want to. I grabbed three forks from the drawer, and Luke’s favorite plastic Batman plate from another cabinet, and set them on the small table I kept in the kitchen.

“I’m hungry,” my son said, coming into the kitchen.

“Have a seat and I’ll get you some food.”

He went over to the chair he always sat in and waited for us. I poured him a glass of milk first and set it in front of him.

“I don’t have much to drink here,” I said to her, “but you can take a look.”

She sat down next to Luke and said, “Water is fine.”

I nodded and poured two glasses of ice water and went to join them at the table.

As we feasted on lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and dumplings, I looked at the way Adria was interacting with my son and all thoughts of Marissa, the lawyer, and the five hundred bucks I’d had to drop today melted into a happiness that spread across my face.
After dinner, I gave Luke a quick bath and put him to bed. It was a little early, but I’d been at the lawyer’s office longer than I’d thought and had gotten home a little later than usual.

I closed my son’s door, leaving it cracked, and went into the kitchen to find Adria putting the leftovers into my small fridge and throwing away excess trash. She set the dishes near the sink and I gently grabbed her wrist to keep her from turning on the faucet. “Leave the dishes.”

She gave me a half-smile. “If you say so.”

After watching her nice legs and luscious plump ass walking around my small kitchen, I really could not form an intelligible word, so I decided words were not necessary. I wrapped my long arm around her waist and pulled her into my body. Without a word, I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers. I was rewarded with her snaking her arms around my neck, and when I licked the seam of her lips, she opened them for me like a good girl. I groaned and pushed myself into her harder, backing her up onto the kitchen counter until she had nowhere else to go. Reaching around, I firmly gripped both ass cheeks and hoisted her up so she had no choice but to put both legs around my waist.

Her breaths were heady and fast when she came up for air between kisses, and I couldn’t get enough. I bit down on her bottom lip, and I moaned when she sucked my tongue into her mouth and played with it.

My dick was so hard it was almost painful. The heat from between her legs and the way she grinded on it was going to make me lose it, and that was the last thing I wanted. I needed to take things slow, explore her naked body with a deliberate appreciation that would make it unforgettable for the both of us. Breaking the kiss, I reached up to cup my hand along her small jaw, and with the pad of my thumb, I ran it across her chin and said, “I’ve missed you so much.”

Her once-hooded eyes got big and she smiled. “You have no idea how much I’ve thought about you over the past ten years.”

I grinned. “And that is why I want to thank you for the Chinese food, and also let you know that you need to leave.”

TBRreview.pngOk confession time, one of my secret loves is the injured male/female nurse/PT or whatever genre. So this was a given. Plus I just love the name Adria.

Kyle and Adria aka Ky and Little Flower, are an amazing couple of teenagers. Kyle wants to enlist in the Marines and Adria can’t handle that, so they break up.

Fast forward 10 years where Kyle and Adria are back in each other’s lives and might have a second chance.

I haven’t read this series but I definitely will be. I loved the characters and how flawed but real they were.

C.J. is a USA Today Bestselling author living in Colorado. Lover of red wine, wearer of fabulous shoes, and a die-hard Niner fan, she’s also an editor at heart. She’s written over a dozen books and short stories that contain both contemporary/new adult and paranormal romance that are a little bit badass, a little heart-wrenching, and sort of funny (to her, anyway). Almost all of her books usually contain law enforcement or military undertones, since strong, brave, alpha men and women are her weaknesses. When she’s not writing, she can be found working at a very strange day job, which may or may not have some mild influences on her gripping stories – so strange, in fact, she may just write a book about it one day.
