Review Tour ~ Mr Big ~ by ~ Delancey Stewart

About MR. BIG

Once upon a time, I had everything: money, power, a multimillion-dollar company, a loving family. Well, at least I thought I had everything. Then my parents died, and I found out my whole life was based on a lie. That’s pretty much the moment when I went numb. Told the world to f*** off and went on a bender of epic proportion, just to see how far I could fall before I hit rock-bottom.

Now I’m back and all I want in this world is my morning—okay, afternoon—coffee. Then one of my employees has the nerve to call me out for cutting the line at the coffeehouse at the company I own. Sure, I’m a little scruffier than usual, but come on, bitching out the CEO? Not a smart career move. Just who does this smart-mouthed ball-buster think she is? And more important, what do I have to do to get her number?

Holland O’Dell may be uptight, but I wouldn’t mind taking her back to my place and ripping off that business-casual blouse/skirt combo and burying myself in her curves. She pushes my buttons, but at least I’m feeling something. And whatever it is, I won’t stop until I get more.

Advance praise for Mr. Big

Mr. Big is the kind of smart, sexy delight that every woman deserves to read! [Delancey] Stewart will make you believe in true love in this steamy, heart-wrenching tale.”USA Today bestselling author Sierra Simone

“With a smart, feisty heroine and hot, tortured hero, Mr. Big has everything I look for in a contemporary romance. Witty, sexy, and full of heart!”—Melanie Harlow, USA Today bestselling author

It took me a bit to get into this one but then I was hooked. So don’t give up if you think it’s going slow. You truly learn why Oliver is the way he is. And his thoughts and ways of processing everything that happens in his life. He’s in a dark place and is very self-pitying.

Holland is working for a tech company in sales, much as she doesn’t want to. She is a statistician but knew her dream was to work at Cody Technology, in whatever capacity she could. So she’s working on a “secret” project that might be able to move her into a position/department she’d rather work in. Along comes this annoying surfer boy who helps her with her secret project.

There were so many different topics touched on in this story but I loved it. Each was thought out and presented in full and not just glossed over. The feelings were real and raw.

5 stars!

Review Tour ~ Wish You Were Here ~ by ~ Renee Carlino

You know when you’re looking at someone and you can’t help but smile at how oblivious they are to their own charm? That’s what was happening to me, and it was making me feel…happy. Euphoric. Something indescribable. It was like we already knew each other, like we had met in a previous life. Memories that didn’t exist began exploding in my mind like fireworks.

Charlotte has spent her twenties adrift, searching for a spark to jump-start her life and give her a sense of purpose. She’s had as many jobs as she’s had bad relationships, and now she’s feeling especially lost in her less-than-glamorous gig at a pie-and-fry joint in Los Angeles, where the uniforms are bad and the tips are even worse.

Then she collides—literally—with Adam, an intriguing, handsome, and mysterious painter. Their serendipitous meeting on the street turns into a whirlwind one-night stand that has Charlotte feeling enchanted by Adam’s spontaneity and joy for life. There’s promise in both his words and actions, but in the harsh light of morning, Adam’s tune changes, leaving Charlotte to wonder if her notorious bad luck with men is really just her own bad judgment.

Months later, a new relationship with Seth, a charming baseball player, is turning into something more meaningful, but Charlotte’s still having trouble moving past her one enthralling night with Adam. Why? When she searches for answers, she finds the situation with Adam is far more complicated than she ever imagined. Faced with the decision to write a new story with Seth or finish the one started with Adam, Charlotte embarks on a life-altering journey, one that takes her across the world and back again, bringing a lifetime’s worth of pain, joy, and wisdom.

“You’re making love sound tragic,” I said.

“No”—he shook his head—“I wouldn’t want it any other way. Tell me about us. What do we like to do?”

“Paint and sail and eat and drink. Just simple things.” “Don’t forget about sex,” he said.
“Yeah, lots of sex. Before the children were born we

“We were practically naked every second of the day.”

“I like that.”

“When they got older, we’d sneak away for weekends and leave them at my mom’s.”

“What are they like? Our children.”

“Happy. That’s all we wished for. We put our love first and it just spilled over into them and now they’re happy.”

Tears sprang from my eyes and ran down my cheeks. Isn’t that what we all hope for when it comes to our children?

His tone suddenly changed. “That’s beautiful, Char- lotte.” It was like he was waking up from the dream. I didn’t want to go back to reality yet, but I knew these fantasies were just to help Adam get his mind off things.

“I can imagine a long life with you,” he said. “I can imagine what a great wife you’d be.”

I pulled my hand out of his. “The story is about you and me.” He didn’t say anything; he just nodded and then continued to stare out the window. I bent and kissed the top of his head again, and whispered, “It’s about us. Don’t take that away from me.”

This book brings forth ALL the emotions!! This book will wreck you. But then it soothes you. It’s just a testament to the power of love.

Charlotte is over her life. She’s a waitress in her 20s at a place she doesn’t like, rooming with her BFF in LA and just looking for her life. She meets Adam who challenges her to do things outside of her comfort zone, expand her mind and horizons. At least for the evening they talked and lived.

Six months later, Charlotte meets up with Adam and he’s challenging her and her ideals again.

This book will definitely pull you through the wringer. But it has such a relevant underlying message that you just have to read it!

Review Tour ~ The Wright Mistake ~ by ~ K.A. Linde

A new stand alone enemies-to-lovers romance by USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I spent six weeks screwing Austin Wright’s brains out and all I got was this broken heart.

He can’t be trusted. Not with my body or my heart. Yet, two years have passed and I still crave him like an addict needing a fix.

The last time we tried this, it nearly ruined me. I know I should run and never look back. But his dark haunted eyes and razor blade smile speak to my soul. His touch sets my body on fire. And we all know what happens when you light gasoline. Someone is bound to get burned.

A second chance might destroy us both.

Because everyone knows two wrongs don’t make a Wright.

This book was kind of amazing. Austin and Julia’s story was not simple or easy by any means. It was harsh and emotional and just so very real. I can’t get into it too much or ruin the story (and I refuse to be THAT guy).

Julia and Austin have a past. They hooked up for a while years ago but ended horrifically. Jules was tired of Austin’s behaviors and wanted to do the best thing for herself; which was get away from the bad boy.

This story is about love, growth, struggle and is just simply amazing. I love the Wright Family and all their partners.

From the first day I met Racer McKay, I knew our interaction was going to be incredibly brief. First impressions really do matter and unfortunately, I didn’t make a very good one.
At the time, I didn’t think much of it. I was never going to see this man again, right?
Wrong! When I’m met with the opportunity of a lifetime, there is only one man in the state of New York who can assist me. And can you guess who it is?
But what I don’t realize is he needs me just as much as I need him. I have money he’s desperate for, and he holds the key to making my dreams come true.
So, we reluctantly join forces.
Our pranks turn from sarcastic banter, to sexual tension and lust-filled glances. Bickering matches quickly morph into slow burn moments. We’re hot, we’re cold. We push and pull. I need him, I don’t want him. We’re on the verge of combusting with an agreement dangling dangerously between us. Neither one of us can afford to lose one another and yet, we’re finding it quite hard to decipher the line that rests between love and hate.

Excerpt:

“Thanks for lunch, I haven’t had a fine peanut butter and jelly sandwich in quite some time.” Racer takes a giant bite from one of three sandwiches I made him. The man can eat; I just want to know where he puts it all. “What is this, crunchy peanut butter?” He looks over the sandwich, studying it intently.
“Yes, it’s crunchy with mixed berry jam.”
He nods and takes another bite. He talks with his mouth full, which for some weird reason makes him oddly adorable. “Nice touch, George. The peanuts add a nice texture.”
“Are you going all food critic on my PB and J skills right now?”
Lifting his shirt, he dabs away some of the sweat that’s collecting on his forehead, beneath his backward hat. His abs flex with the movement, drawing my attention. Each divot calling out to me to touch, to examine . . . to lick.
“I think every human should be judged on their PB and J skills.”
I pull my eyes away from his stomach just in time not to get caught staring. “Why do you think that?”
“Because,” he takes another bite, “I think building a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is in everyone’s repertoire, but only the truly skilled know how to make a proper one. And I want to be friends with the truly skilled.”
“Is that so?” I take a drink of my green tea and study him for a second, watching the way the muscles in his jaw move with each bite and swallow. It’s sexy.
His neck is sexy? Is that possible?
“So where do I land on your scale of sandwich artists?”
He smiles from my term, and I realize how much I adore his boyish charm. Pulling his eyes away from me, he examines one of the sandwiches I made him and starts assessing it. “Good ratio of peanut butter to jelly. Nice choice in bread. The crunch you added has been a pleasant surprise, and the mixed berry jam is fucking delightful.” I giggle from his girly term. “But . . .”
I perk up; there’s a but? “But what?”
He quirks his mouth to the side, almost to say, “Sorry, but you’re not quite perfect.” “The bread, it should have been toasted. Toasting it would have taken you to boss level when it comes to the PB and J.”
“Toasting it?”
He nods and takes another bite. “When you don’t toast a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the peanut butter and bread form a paste on the roof of your mouth. Even though it tastes good, it can get quite irritating.”
“But I didn’t have a toaster.”
“Rookie mistake.”
“Well, If I knew I was going to be critiqued, I would have sprung for bacon.”
He pauses mid bite and stares at me over his sandwich. “You’re a beast for bringing up the option.”
I polish off the rest of my sandwich and wipe my fingers. “Well, maybe next time you’ll communicate expectations better. I’m not a mind reader, Racer. Frankly, the fact I didn’t make boss level is on you, not me.”
I stand and gather my trash as he stares me down. “Don’t you turn this on me. You didn’t have a toaster. The toaster is what’s key. This is on you, Georgie. This is on you!” he calls out as I make my way to the back, laughing to myself the entire time.

Review Tour ~ Holly Freakin’ Hughes ~ by ~ Kelsey Kingsley

We’re celebrating the release of Holly Freakin’ Hughes by Kelsey Kingsley!!!
Holly Freakin’ Hughes
Adult Contemporary Romance

“People like you don’t fall in love with people like me.”

Meet Holly Hughes, a moderately successful teen advice columnist living in a studio apartment on the Upper East Side with her boyfriend Stephen. She has it all, but at the ripe age of thirty-one, she wants more. She wants to be married, she wants a family, and she’s going to have it all with Stephen.
At least, that’s what she thought, until Stephen announces he’s gay, and the domino effect of unfortunate events begins. She soon finds herself unemployed, single, and living in her sister’s house on Long Island, working as her niece’s babysitter for less than minimum wage. She’s pretty certain she’s destined to live in the Land of Mediocrity forever.
And then, her niece runs face-first into a tall, handsome man at the bookstore.
Excerpt:
Standing outside the door, I inhaled and exhaled slowly before knocking, making a conscious effort to clear my brain of anything but excitement for the night ahead. I told myself that Brandon didn’t want me, Brandon was only a friend, and with a final deep breath, I knocked.

As if he had been waiting right on the other side, the door flew open. There to greet me was Ben and three large tail-wagging Labrador Retrievers, two black and one yellow. The three beasts pushed past Ben, tripping up his legs as they rushed toward me; pushing against me with their huffing black noses and slobbering mouths.
One of them, the biggest of the black dogs, jumped up to rest his heavy paws against my chest. A thick tongue lapped out of his wide mouth to slurp over my face. My eyes squeezed shut through the sloppy assault, hovering somewhere between amusement and panic. After regaining his balance, Ben grabbed the dog by the collar and gently pulled him back to the ground.
“Jesus, Rocky, that’s not how we make friends,” Ben told the dog, crouching next to the excited animal, mushing his snout affectionately with his hands before standing to flash me a genuine grin.
“Hey, I’m sorry about that. We don’t get too many strangers around here. I hope you’re not afraid of dogs,” he said, apparently noticing the way I clutched my hands to my chest in an attempt to guard myself from the watering mouths of his hellhounds.
“O-oh, no, I, uh, I-I …” I closed my eyes, taking a deep controlled breath. I opened them again to Ben scratching the ears of the dog named Rocky, and I smiled then. “Let me try that again. No, I’m not afraid of dogs. I just wasn’t really expecting that to be the first kiss I got tonight, but you know, here we are.”
“Rocky just has a thing for the ladies, but here, let me make it up to you.” And before I knew what was happening, he was standing and snaking an arm around my waist. He pulled me into him to press his lips firmly against mine for all of a couple seconds before backing away with a dimpled grin. “Better?”
“Much,” I said with a relaxed smile.
Brandon who?
Amber’s Review

Holly Freakin’ Hughes is freakin’ perfect!! Brand new author for me and I absolutely loved the writing! The story flowed, the characters were relatable and the situations were real.

Holly is ready for her boyfriend of 5 years to propose- except he ends it because he’s gay. So Holly moves out, ends up living with her sister, watching her niece and becoming friends with the crazy funny elderly lady next door. Holly Freakin’ Hughes (as she refers to herself) feels like a big old loser for being a babysitter at 31, living in her sister’s house.

B. Davis is the hottest thing in fantasy fiction. He’s back home in his town, getting back to his everyday life and writing his book. When he meets Holly Freakin’ Hughes and is struck.

This reminded me a little of You’ve Got Mail with a dash of When Harry Met Sally and is 100% perfect!

5 stars!

I love this town of Whynot and all the crazy characters that live there! The Mancinkus family just cracks me up with their phrases and personalities. And boy do they have personalities!!

After reading Ain't He Precious? I knew that I had to learn Lowe's story. And why he was so adamant about his family home, even when they had agreed to sell it.

Melinda, the poor thing, has bought the Mancinkus house and incurred the wrath of Lowe ever since.

Opposites attract right? And Melinda and Lowe are definitely opposites.

Review Tour ~ Sin ~ by ~ Emma Hart

Damien fox lived up to his name. Cunning, sly, and dangerous, fifty percent of Vegas’ strip clubs were his.

Whatever he wanted, money, attention, women, he got.

And now he wanted to buy my bar, no matter the cost.

I wanted him to go to hell on a first-class ticket.

He played a dirty game, and I followed his rules. I let him think he would win.

Despite our differences, it was clear to see that we were no more than two broken hearts colliding in the darkness.

Closed off, sexy, and holding a pain that would crush a lesser man, he was the ultimate sin.

One I couldn’t deny myself, even though I knew better than to trust a fox…

I didn’t like Damien at first, but I think that was the point. He was too confident, too rude, too pushy and he was just too-too! But that was why Dahlia balanced him out SO well. She was the Yin to his Yang. She didn’t put up with his pushing, even when she found it attractive. She would fight until the very end.

And then, Damien won my heart. It took time, but he got me. I wanted to reach through the pages (well ok my phone) and shake him! And then I wanted to hug him and comfort him.

And there are WAY too many funny quotes! I can’t quote any because I don’t want to spoil them for you. But you’ll know what they are when you read them.

TRUST by Kylie Scott (Official Book Trailer) from FILM 14 on Vimeo.

“You were going to give it up to Duncan Dickerson?” he sneered. “Are you serious?”

I halted, staring at him. This was not good. “How do you know about that?”

“Anders overheard you and Hang talking.”

“Bastard.”

“Well?” he demanded, acting all authoritarian. Idiot.

“To be fair, I didn’t know his last name was Dickerson,” I said. “That’s unfortunate. Though, I wasn’t actually planning on marrying him, so . . .”

“Not funny.”

I shrugged.

“You barely know the guy.”

“Um, yeah. None of your concern. We’re not talking about this.” How mortifying! My face burned bright. People should just gather around and cook s’mores. “I appreciate that we’re friends. You mean a lot to me. But this is going to have to fall under definitely none of your damn business, so go away please.”

“We’re talking about it.” He advanced a step.

“No we are not.” And I retreated.

“You were going to let a complete stranger touch you.” Advance.

Retreat. “People do it all the time. You do it all the time.”

“But you don’t,” he said, taking the final step, backing me up against the side of his car and getting all in my face. “Edie, this is your first time we’re talking about. Isn’t it?”

“Yes, and it’s going to be messy and painful and probably horribly embarrassing and I just want it over and done with.” I tried to meet his eyes but failed, settling for a spot on his right shoulder. “You’re not a girl; you wouldn’t understand. Also, last time I checked, you’re not the gatekeeper of my hymen, John Cole. So back the fuck off.”

He said nothing.

Deep, calming breaths. “Look, someday I’ll meet someone I really like and we’ll have a deep and meaningful relationship and go at it like bunnies. But I don’t want to be the dumb virgin in that scenario.”

He slowly shook his head.

“Also, I do not want to die a virgin.”

“What? What the hell are you talking about?”

“Hey, you and I both know death can occur at any time.”

“This is crazy.”

“I’m seeing a therapist!” I told his shoulder. “I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m a little bit messed up these days. It’s hard for me to trust people. That’s not going to change anytime soon.”

He screwed up his face at me. “Wha—”

“I’m just trying to be practical.”

“Well, you’re being ridiculous. None of this makes sense.”

“It does to me.”

Again, he said nothing.

In fact, he said nothing for so long that I finally looked him in the eye. The anger had left him, replaced by an emotion I didn’t recognize. Worst of all, he still smelled like summer. A little sweat and the open night air, everything I loved. Liked. I meant liked.

“What?” I said, finally.

He let loose a breath. “I’ll do it.”

TBRreview

I’m not a huge YA reader – NA yes but these characters were 17/18 so I figure they could qualify as NA.

Edie is living her young life as normal. She and her friend are at a Harry Potter movie-thon and need some snacks. Edie runs into the convenience store and there her life changes. She ends up being part of an armed holdup and having a gun pointed at her more than once. This is also where she meets John who saved her life. As I was reading this event, I could feel my anxiety rising because I was in the story watching this armed robbery.

This crime changes Edie drastically. She is suddenly acting out, quick to lose her temper and just wanting to not be “the girl who had a gun pointed at her”. Thankfully, her savior John, forms a friendship with Edie and is just what she needs to get through the nightmares. And John needs her because he’s leaving his life of being the high school dealer and needs a friend.

I loved this story so much! Ever since I was introduced to Kylie Scott’s writing, I haven’t read a book of hers that I haven’t loved. Plus this one was set near my hometown, so that added an extra love.

Review Tour ~ Kiss My Boots ~ by ~ Harper Sloan

image001

In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?

Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.

The only place Tate Montgomery ever truly felt at home growing up was during the long, sweltering summer months he spent at his Gram and Paw’s farm in Pine Oak, Texas. Now, Tate has returned to his childhood sanctuary seeking a fresh start—but if he’s being entirely honest, he’s not just back for the wranglers and Stetsons. During those summers, Quinn was a friend-turned-young-love who Tate lost when life threw him a curveball and he cut all ties to his past; but all it takes is one glance at the raven-haired beauty he did his best to forget for him to realize just how much he’s been missing….

 TBRreview

I love Quinn! I hadn’t read Lost Rider first but that’s where we meet Quinn since she’s Leigh’s BFF.

Quinn is a sassy tomboy, raised by her older brothers who are constantly hovering. She’s not interested in romance – especially not with her ex who comes back to town to stay. And seems determined to win her back forever.

Tate made some dumb choices when he was younger, including leaving the only woman he’s ever loved. He’s back in town, he’s staying and he wants Quinn back. He’s got a lot of work ahead of him to win her back though.

I love Harper’s Southern writing. I’ve never lived in the South so her writing makes me feel like what I’m able to live in the South – or at least be privy to how living is there.

A past tragedy has left Lily Holmes burdened with a devastating secret…
Since the death of her twin sister, Lily can’t bear to be touched. Not accidentally, not casually…and certainly not intimately. This makes it impossible for her to confess to her best friend Adam Roberts that she’s in love with him. She can’t give him the sort of relationship he needs, so she watches in silence while he plans his wedding with someone else.
Enter Nikoli Kinkaid, the campus manwhore…
Nikoli is a self-proclaimed connoisseur of women, and he wants to add Lily to his list of conquests, but she wants nothing to do with him—until he makes her an offer she can’t refuse. He’ll teach her to enjoy human contact again, giving her a chance to win over Adam, while Nikoli uses all his considerable charm to seduce her.
But Lily raises the stakes…
Lily loves cars. Her late father was a racer, and she grew up under the hood of a car and on the racetrack. Nikoli has a limited edition 1970 Plymouth Barracuda she covets, so she informs him the terms of their deal also require he not sleep with anyone for six months. If he does, she’ll win the car. If she surrenders and ends up in his bed, his beloved ’Cuda is his to keep.
In an intricate dance of control and surrender, a reluctant friendship becomes something more. Lily begins to crave things she never believed she could, and Nikoli realizes there is more at stake than his reputation.
If Lily overcomes her phobia, will she crave Adam’s touch as she’s starting to crave Nikoli’s? Or will she only find pleasure from the touch of a semi-reformed manwhore?

review

Lily has had a rough life but she makes her way through as best she can. Except for being dealthy afraid of being touched. Her friends have tried to help her but it just doesn’t work. Which also makes her crush on her best friend Adam even harder. She loves him but she couldn’t stand to be touched by him.
Nikoli is the campus manwhore (don’t tell him that, he HATES it). He gets warned off chasing Lily but that just makes him want her more. And when he finds out she’s in love with her best friend, he makes a deal with her; he’ll help her for prurient reasons.
I both loved Nik and hated him. He was the definition of manwhore but he was also the only one willing to put the time and effort in to helping Lily overcome her Haphephobia (fear of being touched – yes I Googled it).

Kade
I fucked up.
She was the best and worst mistake I ever made.
I took the coward’s way out and ran.
Now I have a chance to make it right, but she’s being stubborn. It used to be cute, but this time it can get her killed.
Boston’s latest serial killer has his sights set on the only woman I have ever truly loved, and I will keep her safe even if it pisses her off, even if she hates me for it.
All bets are off this time. I want her. He wants her. Only one of us will win.
And I never fucking lose.
Angelique
He left me broken, shattered. Pain unlike any I’ve ever felt filled me in the wake of his absence.
Six years later, I thought I’d finally gotten over him and moved on.
But Fate is a tricky bitch. She likes to torture us.
She brought Kade back to me, but I won’t ever hurt like that again.
I just have to stay out of his bed until this is over.

Fate is a cruel, cruel bitch.
review
After meeting Kade in Nik’s book, I wanted to hear his story. So I’m glad we got to. And got to see the end of the campus killer.
Angel has been a bartender for years. She makes the mistake of taking a break outside and sees the campus killer dumping his latest victim. And he sees her. So now she’s a target for this serial killer.
Kade has been in Boston helping to track down the campus killer when he gets a call that there is a witness now. Imagine his surprise when it’s someone he loved from his past.
An intense, gripping thriller with Kade and Angel’s love story wrapped in it. I hope we see more from this family. I love these brothers!

So who am I? Well, I’m the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tells me to stop watching them, but who doesn’t love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.

Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values , I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there’s always someone to tell your mama you were seen kissing a particular boy on a particular day just a little too long. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was titled Lord Margrave’s Deception. I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.

Now, I live in a small town in WV where I entertain my niece and nephew and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach.

I love books, I love writing , and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.
