The honorable Judge Cameron Sinclair is presiding.” I look up and every molecule in my body rises. Fuck!  Mr., I have an important job, is my judge? This has to be bad juju. There’s no other way to explain the coincidence. I cursed this man all the way out and then ruined his clothes. Now he’s going to decide whether my children and I get what we deserve? This can’t be good. Keisha gives me a sidelong glance, but my attention is fully on the man standing behind the bench. Lately, desire is a foreign feeling. Since Jason, I largely ignore my vagina and any pleasure it may bring. But this man carries an energy that makes me want to wake my girl out of hibernation and do all the things another woman won’t do. But I won’t. That’s partly why I snapped on him in the coffee shop. The man is seriously fuckable. He is easily over six feet tall and the color of a cinnamon stick. His dreadlocks are pulled back into a fishtail, accented by a beard and goatee so perfect, the lines look painted on. He’s in his robes, but I can tell he is in incredible shape. His shoulders are broad, and his hands are huge-I see them from here. When he opens his mouth to speak, his deep timbre commands the room but calms my anxiety at the same time. I didn’t get those vibes at the coffee shop. There, his voice made me want to fight. “I’ve reviewed the evidence presented in discovery, and I don’t know why we are here. Dr. Kent, since you have forgone council, I will be direct. You have the means to pay your child support but have refused to do so. However, in the spirit of fairness and the law this courtroom observes, I will allow you to speak and provide me with a reason I should grant this reduction in support.” Jason stands and moves to the dais to speak. He’s representing himself today because he actually thinks he can-idiot. He didn’t know Keisha was in town. He looks back at his silly fiancée and winks at me before clearing his voice to speak. I hate him. But God, how I used to love him. His very presence used to make me weak in the knees, and it poised me to do anything for a ray of his sunshine to fall my way. I thought the family we were building together was all I’d ever need in life. He was my first lover, the first man I ever called friend, and the person who made me feel needed the most. And I wanted to be needed. That all changed once he became Dr. Jason Kent. “Your honor. This is not about my ability to pay. It is about the fairness of the judgement. Mrs. Kent has received a promotion to Vice Principal of her school. Her raise calls for a reduction in my contribution.” This motherfucker. The judge stares right through him before speaking. “Do I look like a fool to you, Dr. Kent? Because I assure you, the only fool here is you.” I snort under my breath and quickly cover my mouth. Jason holds on to the dais so tightly his knuckles bulge. He hates being talked down to. Hopefully, he knows better than to talk crazy to a judge. “No, your honor, you are not a fool… and neither am I.” Mr. Hot as fuck Judge crosses his arms and leans back a bit, looming over Jason. He’s making him wait. His extra theatrics are not lost upon me, and I smile to myself. The big dick energy is powerful with this one. “Then don’t talk to me like one. We both know your ex-wife did not receive a promotion but is rather covering for her vice-principal during summer school. Her boost in pay is temporary. To be regarded as a bonus, not an increase in salary.” Jason scoffs. “I don’t see why that matters, a raise is a raise and money is money. I am tired of Tara draining my household dry while she spends her money on whatever she wants.” That’s it. I won’t sit here and let him talk about me like I’m not here. Keisha tries to hold me down, but I snap to my feet and speak. “Objection your honor.” Jason rolls his eyes, and Judge Sinclair looks into mine like he just realized who I am…and he’s pleased. I didn’t expect that. His eyes sparkle. What color are they…blue? How can a black man have such blue-green eyes? They are mesmerizing. I’m shaken out of my thoughts when his firm tone addresses me. “Mrs. Kent, what exactly is the nature of your objection?” Jason snickers. “Yeah, maybe you should leave the talking to your lawyer. Someone who knows what she is doing.” “Fuck You!” The words fly from my mouth before my mind registers where we are. Judge Sinclair bangs his gavel three times and points it at Jason. “You, sir, are on thin ice. One more outburst from you and I’ll hold you in contempt. Is that clear?” Judge Sinclair cuts his eyes at me. A warning. Before turning back to Jason, expecting an answer. Jason bites his tongue. “Yes, your honor.” Judge Sexy… I mean Sinclair turns back to me. “Now Ms. Kent. You would like to address the court?” I want to approach your bench. Buy Now! Gavin “Stone” Hendrix didn’t do commitment, and love was completely out of the question. After spending the first half of his life taking care of everyone else, he was done being the responsible one. Then he met a shy, nervous brunette who knocked him off his feet and made him question everything he thought he believed.

It had been a good day.

Actually, that was an understatement. It had been a great day. At least until I got to my dad’s house to go through his kitchen and see what all he needed, only to discover that Elaina had seriously downplayed the need for food in his house.

I’d played it off that I was totally fine for my father’s benefit as I stewed in my anger while making a grocery list that took up the front and back of the page.

By the time I got to the store, I was in serious need of an outlet, so I cued up the Pissed Chick playlist on my phone, stuffed earbuds in my ears, and got to work. I was halfway through shopping, Alanis Morissette wailing about how you oughta know in my ears when I rounded the corner and my cart crashed into someone else’s.

“Sorry, I—” The rest of the words died in my throat when I looked up and saw the cart I’d plowed into belonged to none other than Stone himself, the very man I’d been thinking about nonstop since my talk with Lark earlier that morning. “Stone,” I said on a gasp, sucking back the air that my lungs had expelled at the mere sight of him. “Hi.”

He said something I couldn’t hear over the music ringing in my ears.

I gave him an apologetic smile and yanked the buds out of my ears. “Sorry, I didn’t hear you. What was that?”

The song had just reached the chorus, the volume so loud it carried several feet, and I could tell from the grin on his face that he definitely heard it. “Wow. Didn’t take you for an Alanis fan,” he said in that gravelly rasp that always made my skin tingle and pressure build between my thighs. What could I say? The man gave great voice. I didn’t know if male phone sex operators were a thing or not, but if they were, he could make a freaking fortune.

“Oh, uh, yeah. Sometimes. I have a playlist I like to listen to it when someone’s made me ragey.”

On cue, the song ended, and the next queued up; this time, it was Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name.”

His eyes went big at the sound of it. “You’re just full of surprises, mouse.”

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

BLURB: Welcome to the Atlanta Rising Football Club, where the temperature isn’t the only thing turning up the heat…

Felicity Sutherland knows what people think of her. She just doesn’t care. Her attitude is her armor, and it hasn’t failed her yet. Thick skin and working hard in the male-dominated sports industry placed her dream job within reach. And as she vies to become president of the Atlanta Rising Football Club, there isn’t a competitor, or a distractingly handsome co-worker, that can get in her way.

The only games Gunnar Gracin has time for are the ones he coaches on the pitch. But life just keeps bending the ball, especially where the women in his life are concerned. The death of his wife over a decade ago was a devastating loss. Discovering an adult daughter from an encounter he doesn’t remember changed all the rules. And working for the frosty, sharp-tongued Felicity is downright infuriating.

But as Gunnar and Felicity spend more time together, the tension between them sizzles like a hot summer night. And the moment Gunnar gets a taste of Felicity’s smart mouth, he decides to throw the playbook out the window. If no one knows what they’re up to, giving in to temptation doesn’t feel so out of bounds. That is, until life gets in the way and the whistle is blown. Will it be a red card for Gunnar and Felicity’s secret romance?

Out of Bounds is a standalone enemies-to-lovers, age gap contemporary romance. Enjoy it on its own, or as part of the series, with no cheating and a guaranteed HEA!

“The book gets wildly intense and had me biting my nails! The suspense was killing me. They way this book ends is absolutely perfect. This author never fails to amaze me. Another bestseller!” (Nora Houston ~ Amazon Reviewer)

“The things he’s done, the things he’s seen, who wouldn’t have a dark heart. Betrayed by someone you loved will make you darker. Can Heath find the light or will the dark just get darker? A read that will keep you on the edge.” (Vickie Komarek, Amazon Reviewer)

“A few laugh out loud moments, more than a few suspenseful times and a lot of hot times. What more could you ask for?.” (Sue Hancock~ Goodreads Reviewer)

She headed to her en suite bathroom, tossing a look at him over her shoulder. A look that made him wish his phone was within reach because he’d make that image his wallpaper. “You coming?” she asked.

“Hate to see you leave, but love to watch you go,” he said standing up and following her into the bathroom.

She turned on the water for the shower and let it heat up, then she went about wrapping up her bandaged finger with cellophane. Once she was done, she looped her arms over his shoulders and lifted up onto her tiptoes so they were more at eye level.

He thought she was going to say something. A tease or a joke about the sex they’d just had, but she didn’t.

She stood there, breathing in his breath and staring into his eyes.

What was she looking for?

Did she want more from him?

More of him?

She couldn’t have it.

Nobody could.

He had nothing more to give her.

Christina had stripped him of everything else he could possibly give a woman. Taken his trust, his love, his belief in happily ever after.

He gave Pasha everything he had left. Everything he could, and if she asked for more, then he’d have to say no and watch the disappointment fill her eyes.

And the thought of doing that gutted him.

After a moment of uncertainly, waiting for her to say something, he growled and cupped the back of her head, taking her mouth in a need-driven kiss. He needed to get things back to where they’d been, not to where he feared they were headed, which was her asking him for more.

A Canadian West Coast baby born and raised, Whitley is married to her high school sweetheart, and together they have two beautiful daughters and a fluffy dog. She spends her days making food that gets thrown on the floor, vacuuming Cheerios out from under the couch and making sure that the dog food doesn’t end up in the air conditioner. But when nap time comes, and it’s not quite wine o’clock, Whitley sits down, avoids the pile of laundry on the couch, and writes.

A lover of all things decadent; wine, cheese, chocolate and spicy erotic romance, Whitley brings the humorous side of sex, the ridiculous side of relationships and the suspense of everyday life into her stories. With single dads, firefighters, Navy SEALs, mommy wars, body issues, threesomes, bondage and role-playing, Whitley’s books have all the funny and fabulously filthy words you could hope for.

New Release ~ You’re Still the One ~ by ~ Erika Kelly

Title: You’re Still the One

Series: A Calamity Falls Small Town Romance
Author: Erika Kelly
Genre: Steamy, Small Town, Contemporary Romance (stand alone)
Release Date: July 8, 2021

✔️ Hot, inked, motorcycle-riding hero
✔️ Sexy wedding planner with a whole lot of explaining to do
✔️Steamy, small town romance
✔️Second chance romance
✔️And lots and lots of make-up sex

When Stella Cavanaugh gets the chance to come home after a seven-year, self-imposed exile, she takes it. She was born to be a wedding planner, and she hopes creating her sister’s wedding might just earn her redemption with her family.

The only thing holding her back is the fear of running into Griffin James, the love of her life. Because she not only hurt her family, she destroyed their relationship. Burned it right to the ground. And she just doesn’t know if she can bear to find out he’s moved on. She sure hasn’t.

Griffin James has a roommate. The fourteen-year-old’s staying with him while his dad’s on deployment. Sounds simple, but the boy’s grandparents are looking for any excuse to pull him out of the clutches of the big, tattooed owner of a bike shop. If Griffin can just stay under their radar, everything should be fine.

But that’s just not possible when Stella bursts into their lives. Her sparkly spirit, her big, splashy ideas, and her impulsiveness always lead to disaster. He knew that…but he couldn’t resist her.

And now she’s on the run again, because…

The very things they love about each other are also what tear them apart.

Cat’s Guilty Pleasure – “Man this book kept me on a emotional roller coaster the whole time.”

Goodreads Review – “The magic of Stella and Griffin brings all of the emotions to your heart…tears, anger, hurt, laughter, chemistry and the love of a lifetime. Loved it!!❤❤❤❤❤”

Goodreads Review – “You’re Still The One is my favorite of the Cavanaugh sisters’ books. Griffin and Stella exude passion, love, and so much angst. I couldn’t get enough of them.”

I have not read the other stories in the series, but I love a biker, a small-town romance, and I loved this story! Stella was real! She had such emotions and feelings about returning home after 7 years away from talking with her family, and she is unsure how she will be received. And how she will feel running into her one true love after he broke her heart. Stella seems to have a lot of growing up to do and to address the wrongs she’s done while she grows.

Griffin is not ready for Stella to be back in town but of course, she immediately is where he least expects it and definitely not when he wants it. Although Griffin badly needs the influence Stella has onto his young charge, Austin. And Stella is really what he needed. Stella is truly the fun, feisty, caring, headstrong person that he remembers and how he still loves her and her impetuousness. But that is what Griffin and Austin need.

This story was just so consuming. I couldn’t put it down and now I want to go back and read more of this series!

5 stars!

Award-winning author Erika Kelly writes sexy and emotional small town romance. Married to the love of her life and raising four children, she lives in the southwest, drinks a lot of tea, and is always waiting for her cats to get off her keyboard. #PERD-7 Finally, Kane broke the tension with a murmured confession rife with turmoil. “Maybe it’s best if you hate me.” The words were barely loud enough for me to hear, but their impact rocketed through me, crumbling the resolute foundation I’d stood upon. “Best for who?” I breathed. My emotions were so tangled that I wasn’t sure how I’d feel even if I could understand what Kane was trying to tell me. Something dark—a ravenous hunger—flashed behind his eyes just before his lips collided with mine. I breathed him in, instantly clutching his shirt to keep him close as my tongue tangled with his. He kept his hands anchored to the wall on either side of me but pressed his chorded body against me so that I could feel just how affected he was. The taste of his whiskey mouth and the press of his marbleized hardness molded to my soft curves made my head spin beyond the effects of alcohol, but it was the knowledge that I caused him to lose all self-control that liquified my insides. Kane, the unflappable man who shrugged his way through life was off balance because of me. I did this. Something about me drove him absolutely wild. While his lips were devouring mine, I ignored the part about how he hated that loss of control. When he pulled away, chest heaving with ragged breaths, his eyes widened with shock and horror. The disgust on his face doused my veins in buckets of ice. At that point, the truth couldn’t be ignored. He hated what he felt for me. His reaction made me feel dirty and wrong, and I hated him for that. He took a single step back, spun and put his fist through the sheetrock with a string of cursed expletives. White dust and particulates scattered across the wood floor opposite me. My hand flew to my mouth, but Kane paid me no mind. He shook out his hand then stormed down the hall without a backward glance.

46960627_267233973988960_1230914889476734976_n Within a year of self-publishing her first book, Jill Ramsower quit her job as an attorney and dedicated her days to churning out romantic adventures. She likes to think of her books as contemporary romance with a touch of fantasy—at its core, her writing is about the connection between two people. Sometimes that connection involves a little magic… With Jill’s books, you can count on confident heroines, plenty of steamy tension, and deliciously assertive leading men. There are no guarantees in life, but with her books, you know everything will work out in the end. However, a perfect ending would not be nearly as satisfying without a seemingly insurmountable challenge. Jill loves to add plenty of adversity in her stories, creating unforgettably dynamic characters and sneaky plot twists you will never see coming. Jill is a Texan, born and raised. She manages the hectic social calendars for her three active children and occasionally spends an evening with her dashing husband. Aside from being an author and a mom, she’s a travel junkie and loves to read when she is not lost in her own stories. #PERD-3

New Release & Review ~ The Screwball ~ by ~ A.M. Williams

I’m not a one woman man, but Preston makes me want something different. However, a misunderstanding leaves Preston wanting nothing to do with him. Can Alvarez convince Preston to forgive him and take a chance? Fans of the Dallas Longhorns by Tara Wyatt will devour The Screwball by A.M. Williams, an enemies to lovers, workplace romance. Read Now!
Misunderstandings happen all the time, right? Preston I’m used to the looks I get once people realize that I’m a woman with a man’s name. I get them all the time. But when the most attractive man I’ve ever seen makes rude comments about me, I can’t forget how hurtful he is. He reminds me too much of my past, a past I refuse to let rule my future. My shields are up and I’m adamant I want nothing to do with him. But he slowly wheedles his way in as I realize I might have been too judgmental. Alvarez I am not a one woman man. I’ve never had a serious relationship. I don’t want to be that guy. But something is different. She makes me different. I want more. And I want Preston Pierce. The only problem is I put my foot in my mouth before meeting her and she wants nothing to do with me. It takes time, but eventually she forgives me and I realize she’s everything I wanted. The only problem is our pasts might be keeping us from our future and I don’t know how to push us past it. We have to decide if we’ll let our pasts rule our future and keep us from a happily ever after. The Screwball is book three in A.M. Williams’ “Boys of Summer” baseball romance series. It’s a workplace, enemies-to-lovers romance with two people haunted by the things in their past as they work toward a better future together. If you love men in tight pants and the sassy women they fall for, this series is for you. This book was previously published as Playing for Keeps. It has been updated with new content and re-edited. I snagged a seat next to Derek at the table, my back to the door. King claimed the chair on my other side. There was an agenda in front of me, I slid closer to get a better look at it. At the top in big, bold letters was the name Preston Pierce. I snorted. “Wow, think this dude is overcompensating much?” “What do you mean?” Derek asked, his gaze on the agenda as well. “Look at his name. It’s easily the biggest thing on here. Think he’s trying to make a point before we even meet him?” Derek just shook his head and remained silent, and I turned back to the agenda, my eyes snagging again on the name at the top. I shook my head. I had a feeling this guy was definitely trying to prove something to the team before he’d even met us. We really didn’t need some pretentious asshole trying to lord himself over the team. “You know,” I said, “I bet this guy is balding and has a toupee covering his hair.” “He probably has a beer gut, too,” I heard from behind me. My eyes widened and I froze. It wasn’t just the fact that I was being called out on what I was saying, it was that it was a female voice that spoke from behind me. I grimaced and made eye contact with Derek, who was shaking his head. I was sure I’d just put my foot in it, but I couldn’t say why I felt that way. I turned to face the voice and had to clench my jaw to keep it from dropping. She was gorgeous. Shoulder-length brown hair framed her face and bright blue eyes stared at me. And they were currently shooting daggers my way. I smirked. “Hey there, beautiful. What’s your name?” Her lips flattened into a straight line and her eyes narrowed. Even with the glare being sent my way, she was gorgeous. The smirk on my face wavered slightly, but I hoped it didn’t show on my face. This woman unnerved me, but I didn’t want her to know it. “My name is Preston Pierce, the fat, balding guy you were just discussing.” My jaw dropped and it felt like my heart stopped for a few moments as I processed  her words. This was Preston? Preston was a guy’s name, though. There was no way on Earth the Preston Pierce who was our new marketing director was the Preston Pierce who just introduced herself. I stared at her, trying to reconcile this woman—the prettiest one I’d ever seen—being our new marketing director. Fuck.
I absolutely love this series! The guys on this team and the women in their circle are such great matches. Preston and Alvarez are perfect examples. Alvarez is not the type to settle down and he doesn’t want to. He’s happy with the player lifestyle, at least so he thinks. He’s started to get over the whole different girl every night thing, at least since his coach and teammates are starting to get into permanent relationships. So he’s starting to want something more constant. Preston is used to sports stars and she’s not looking to hook up with any. Especially not one who mistook her for a male, based solely on her name. But she is ready to help do PR for the team and be friends with her new coworkers. I love how each book is interwoven and each of the characters appear in the other stories. I like when a series is interconnected like this one is. Plus it’s a sports romance, which I do love. 5 stars!
