It was like a game of cat and mouse.
I was hunting her.
She was all I could focus on. All I could see.

Releasing me, Max walks over and unlocks the handle, the door opening before he can step back.
If I thought Max towering over me was scary, this guy has him beat. Max has at least five inches on me, maybe twenty pounds of muscle. This guy is huge compared to him. At least an inch taller, with broader shoulders, and bigger muscles.
And now I’m trapped in this tiny ass bathroom that smells like piss with both of them.
All because I looked at a girl. The wrong girl.
“You really want to bring that up right now?” Max asks, staring down our visitor.
I know he’s Max’s friend, but I honestly can’t tell right now. Max looks like he wants to hit him. His fists are clenched at his sides, and he’s glaring at him the same way he was glaring at me. He definitely wanted to hit me a minute ago.
I know for sure he’s not my friend. Though, he did just save my ass from Max’s wrath. And it doesn’t appear he’s scared of the death glare.
“Why not? You gave me your blessing.” So casual. As if it’s not a big deal that this guy is sleeping with his sister.
Wait!
Please tell me Max has more than one sister because if this guy is sleeping with Evie, there’s no way I stand a chance with her.
I’ve seen him before. He was in the kitchen earlier with Max. There were a bunch of guys, but I remember him being pulled away by a girl. She wasn’t Evie.
“That doesn’t mean I want to hear about it. Jesus, Finn!”
“But you heard it happening last night.” His first mistake. “I know you did. You left the ear plugs Lo bought you on the counter. And let’s face it, your sister is not quiet.” Throwing his head back and laughing is his second mistake because Max clocks him in the jaw.

After the shock wore off and the electricity in her limbs started to settle, along with her rapidly beating heart, she lifted her head to find the rock star of her dreams standing there behind the counter with a very cocky grin on his face.

She rolled her eyes, but her heart rate only picked up again. “You’re on my playlist.”

She eased her foot on the pedal, and the wheel slowed down and eventually stopped.

“There is.” She jerked her head toward the bathroom. “Ghost with Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg.” Her brows pinched. “How do you not—” But she stopped herself when his expression turned coy. “You knew. You were just teasing me.”

His smile made her insides get all tingly. “I might be Oblivious Evan, but I’m not an idiot.”

Her cheeks grew warm, but that didn’t keep her from grinning at him. He was right behind her now. She had to tilt her head up to look at him. His gentle, sexy brown eyes bored right into her, turning her into a puddle.

“My mom came over to watch Hope for a bit,” he said, grabbing a stool and setting it right behind her, sitting down and leaning against her back. The heat of him and the way his legs bracketed hers was enough to make every one of her synapses fire at the same time.

She’d centered the piece. Now it was time to start shaping it.

“What are you making?” he asked, kissing her neck.

“I didn’t have a plan,” she said. “Sometimes I just sit down at the wheel and let the muse find me.”

“Mmmm,” he hummed. “I’m the same way with the guitar.”

“You were working on something when I left …” She guided their hands up a little, then together they stuck two fingers each, his on top of hers, into the center of the clay and began to press out.

The eroticism, the symbolism of what they were doing with their fingers and how it all looked and felt was not lost on her in the least.

I am a storyteller first and foremost. My writing journey began after my 50th birthday and the lock-down provided me the opportunity to get my stories down. Some stories have been haunting my dreams for over forty years. But when the characters began shouting at me at all hours of the day and night I had to write them down, never having written before. My previous lives have been in advertising, fashion and as a small business owner.

I am clinically dyslexic (diagnosed in college) and have made it my life’s ambition to consume novels, poetry and article to push past those challenges and tell my stories.

A proud native-Californian, I live in Hermosa Beach, CA, a tiny beach-town in South Los Angeles County with my husband of sixteen years, two beautiful kids and two spunky-rescue kitties.
