Music was was part of my DNA, pumping hard through my veins, resonating deep within my bones. Not surprising, considering my dad was a global rock star and my mom had the voice of a fallen angel.
With my twin sister by my side in our indie-rock duo, Singed Wings, we were ready to finally see our name in lights when we opened for the hottest act to sell out stadiums – Jobu’s Rum Summer Reunion Tour.
The life I’d always wanted was finally within my reach. All I had left to do was finish out my last semester of high school.
But there was one problem: Ms. Sloan, the new art history teacher.
The same Ms. Sloan I’d met as Belle, the sexy little pixie who’d captivated me at a New Year’s Eve concert last year.
The same Ms. Sloan who’d owned nearly every one of my thoughts since that night.
The same Ms. Sloan whose class I was in danger of failing.
With my dream gig dangling just on the other side of that cap and gown, all of my focus should’ve been on my school work and improving my music as I prepared for my big shot to rock the world…
But I never expected her to rock mine first… and to change everything.
Everything is a standalone novel. It is a spin-off from the Book Boyfriend Series.

GO BIG OR GO HOME. That’s how I live and how I play. With baseball, with women… I’m always the biggest player on the field.
I grew up poor. Dirt poor. The oldest of six kids, I learned early that a fist or a smile could get me out of almost any sticky situation. My swing is what got me out of the sticks for good.
Now I’m in the spotlight, playing in the big leagues, and the club’s owner wants me to be the club’s spokesperson. I just need to deal with the bossy woman who runs the show.
His daughter.
Camille Rivers is the heir to the richest man in America. She’s the most stubborn woman I’ve met in my life. With all her wealth and manners, you would think she’d be a little nicer to her daddy’s star player.
Spoiled and prissy, daddy’s little princess is everything I should stay away from. The problem is, I just can’t keep my hands off her.
I think she’s playing hard to get because she likes me. She thinks it’s because I’m a horse’s rear end. Either way, she doesn’t complain too much when I’m kissing her.
She’s used to getting what she wants. Then again, so am I. And I want her.

I bounced on the balls of my feet, waiting for the next lob. I had the tennis machine set on random so I wouldn’t always know when to expect the next ball. Otherwise it was too easy.
I didn’t like easy. I liked to be challenged. And I liked to win.
I swung hard, hitting the ball to just inside the baseline of our private court. I grinned, waiting for the next ball. Then I did it again, with expert precision. I still took lessons from the club’s tennis pro now and then, but now it was just to keep my edge.
Besides, he said I could give him lessons at this point.
“Need some help with that?”
I turned sharply at the sound of his voice. Cade Dupree. The damn man had been haunting my dreams all week and now he was here. I glared at him, ready to tell him to go to hell.
“Look out!”
I jumped out of the way just as the ball came careening towards me. I watched as Cade walked to the other side of the court and turned the machine off, rubbing my neck with a clean towel. He came back over and leaned against the fence, looking supremely relaxed.
“Mr. Dupree.”
“Ms. Rivers.”
He was staring at me with unconcealed lust.
“Damn girl you look good in that short skirt.”
“It’s a tennis dress.”
He grinned at me stupidly.
“I like it.”
Something about the way he was looking at me annoyed me, but didn’t offend me the way that it normally would have. He wasn’t looking at me like a piece of meat exactly. It was more like I was a ten course meal and he was a starving man.
I did want to smack him though.
“May I help you with something? Or do you always sneak around, interrupting hapless women who are trying to play tennis?”
He gave me a hurt look. I snorted. I didn’t buy it for a second.
“Your father invited me to dinner. ”
I smiled sweetly.
“He has a thing for strays.”
I wiped down my racket and slid it into its case.
“But I don’t.”
“I’m real sorry to hear that ma’am.”
I rolled my eyes, scooping up my bag.
“Since you are obviously lost, I will show you the way.”
“I’m not lost.”
He wiggled his eyebrows at me. He was so ridiculous I almost laughed, but I didn’t want to encourage him.
“Darlin’ I have been found.”
Now that did make me laugh. I couldn’t help it. I smothered it quickly, forcing myself to give him a dirty look. He just chuckled and followed me to the house.
Just when I thought he couldn’t get any more annoying he managed to do just that.
Cade Dupree was whistling.

Author Bio

“Tired?” Simon asks with a knowing smile.
“A bit,” I reply with a nod. “And the view is incredible.”
“No kidding,” Shelly says with an annoying giggle, and I realize she thinks I’m talking about Simon.
For fuck sake.
“Actually, I was talking about the mountains,” I add, stifling a laugh when Heidi knocks her knee against mine. “The views here are unreal. When I saw that the conference was to be held in Montana, I just figured we’d be in the boonies, on a dude ranch or something with no wifi and hunting and gathering our food ourselves. I had no idea that this existed.”
“It’s one of my favorite places in the world,” Simon replies with one of his insane smiles. Seriously, he smiles and the room lights up. He’s changed into a casual blue T-shirt that hugs his shoulders and reveals the sleeve of tattoos down his left arm. In all of his public appearances, he wears long sleeves, covering the ink. It’s sexy as hell, not to mention the lean muscle there. His dark hair is disheveled from pushing his fingers through it all day, and his eyes look a bit tired, too. “Where are you from, Charly? Is that the South I hear in your voice?”
I grin. “Louisiana,” I confirm. “I’m from New Orleans.”
“Another of my favorite places,” he replies with a wink.
“Oh, I love it there too,” Shelly says. “What do you do there?”
“I own a shoe store.” I grin at the waitress as she fills my water glass.
“Well, that wouldn’t suck,” Heidi says and glances down at my feet. “I admired your shoes all day.”
“Thank you.”
“How long have you done that?” Simon asks, listening intently.
“Six years,” I reply. “But I’ve lived there all my life.”
He nods, and I can see in his eyes that he has more questions, but he shifts the focus to someone else, to my relief.
“And where are you from, Heidi?”
“Arizona,” she replies and begins telling us about her business raising assistance dogs. She pulls her phone out to show us photos, and I melt.
“Aww, what a sweet baby,” I croon when she shows me the yellow lab puppy she’s working with now. “Puppies are the best.”
“I think so too,” Heidi agrees. Dinner is surprisingly fun. We spend the next hour chatting about our homes, what we do, and things that interest us. Simon is funny and charming, easily deflecting Shelly’s blatant flirtations.
He’s professional. I assume he comes down and has dinner with a different group of women from the retreat each night. It’s a nice touch.
I wonder how many he sleeps with.

“You should have come and got me when that prick made you uncomfortable.”
I turned to face him. “Are you seriously telling me off?”
We paused as the traffic stopped, and he cut his gaze to me. “I couldn’t see you. I told you it wasn’t safe for you to go alone.”
I rolled my eyes. “He was only there for two minutes. I would have stabbed him with my stiletto before he could do anything.”
“And I believe you, but it doesn’t change the fact that he made you uncomfortable.”
We turned a corner.
“I don’t want anything to happen to you just because you’re determined to do market research.”
“Nothing happened to me.”
“Mia, it doesn’t change the fact that it couldn’t. He only left because I showed up. I watched the entire fucking thing.”
“And you only came in at the end? Gee, thanks, West. Knight in fucking shining armor right there, aren’t you?” I ran my fingers through my hair and looked away. The light curls were still in place, although they were more of a lazy wave, and I stared at my reflection in the side mirror. “We should probably not do this again.”
“On the contrary, I was having fun until the end. I don’t have fun much.”
“Looking out for me was fun? Yeah, okay.”
“I told you,” he said, pulling up outside my apartment block, which was really more of a converted three-story house. “I don’t want anything to happen to you. I’d feel bad.”
“Well, thanks. I’m gonna look over these notes in the morning and I’ll e-mail you. Okay?” I paused with my hand on the door and glanced back at him.
He was out of the fucking car.
Why was he out of the fucking car?
“Why are you out of the car?”
He smirked. Damn that smirk. “I’m taking you up.”
“Like hell you are.” I slammed the door and walked around the sleek Audi to stand right in front of him. I looked up at him and caught his gaze. “I can make it in and out of an elevator.”
“I’m sure you can. But I’m still taking you up.”
“No. You’re not!”
“All right, then.” He grabbed my waist and lifted me.
A shriek escaped between my lips as he swung me upward and over his shoulder. I scrambled to keep hold of my purse, but he ignored me as he carried me inside and pushed the elevator button.
“West! Put me down right now!”
He ignored me again and tightened his grip around my thighs when I tried to wriggle down. His strength was crazy. I was stuck there.
“Put me down! Now!”
He shook his head, this time acknowledging my words. But that was it. A fucking head shake.
“This is hardly professional!” I yelled, my voice echoing off walls of the metal box that was the elevator. I couldn’t believe he’d slung me over his shoulder like some kind of caveman.
Yo, Wilma, Betty? Fred and Barney escaped. I found one of them.
“West Rykman, I swear to a god I don’t believe in that, if you don’t put me down right this goddamn second, I’m going to tear your balls off with my bare hands and shove them up your ass!”
The elevators doors opened, and he took the few steps toward my door before finally, slowly, lowering me back down to the ground.
“Ugh!” As soon as my feet hit the floor, I stepped back and glared at him. “How dare you manhandle me?”
He fixed his bright, Caribbean-blue eyes on mine and curved his lips. “I told you I was taking you upstairs. I didn’t tell you I was walking you up.”
“You’re an animal.”
“You weren’t coming up alone. I was raised a gentleman.”
That made me stop rummaging for my keys and raise my eyebrows in disbelief. “You take off your clothes for a living, and the first time we met, you flexed your cock against my face.”
He grabbed my waist for a second time tonight and spun me against my door. I dropped my purse in my shock, but I couldn’t reach for it because he’d cupped my chin and forced me to look at him.
“And the second time we met,” he said in a low voice, “you flexed my cock against the back of your throat. What point are you trying to make, angel?”
“That you’re no more a gentleman than I am a lady,” I shot back. “Now, let me go so I can go inside and consider how we continue this professional relationship.”
West searched my eyes for a long moment before dropping his hand. He took half a step back, and I went to reach for my purse, but he changed his mind.
He smoothly spun back to me, and no sooner had I met the flash of his blue eyes than he had his mouth on mine. I let out a quiet moan when he swept his tongue across the seam of my lips and wrapped one arm around my waist. He pulled our bodies together, my shoulders pressing into the door, and kissed me deeply.
My head swam. I couldn’t make head or tails of this, and although it was wrong, so wrong, I couldn’t stop.
The kiss was hot—oh god, so hot—and my whole body felt like it was on fire as I wound my fingers in the collar of his shirt and held him closer to me. His fingers twitched against my back as one of his hands slid down and cupped my ass. He squeezed, pulling my hips to his. His erection was obvious, pushing into me, and I whimpered into his mouth.
God, I wanted him.
He pulled away from me as abruptly as he’d kissed me, but he didn’t move. His mouth eased its way across my jaw to my ear, and his hot breath skittered across my skin when he paused there.
“I might call you angel, but I have a feeling you’re going to be my own personal sin, Mia O’Halloran.”
He kissed the tender spot just beneath my ear, making me shiver, and released me. I struggled to control my breathing as I watched him walk away toward the stairwell. He paused at the top, and I sank my teeth into my bottom lip.
He turned.
Dropped his gaze to my mouth.
Met my eyes.
Disappeared.
I sank back against my door. I could still feel his touch. His taste lingered on my lips, and although it wasn’t anything incredibly specific, he was there, teasing me without being near me. I brushed hair from my face, picked my purse up, and dug for my key. I found it and let myself into the dark apartment.
I locked the door behind me and walked to my bed. I’d barely undressed and retrieved my phone with its alarm before I buried myself beneath the sheets.
Shit.
