SYNOPSIS

A broken heart and shattered dreams…

Austin Connelly had it all: loving family, a growing and profitable
business, the perfect woman warming his bed at night…

When she completely disappears from his life, well kept secrets begin to
emerge. He finds out his best friend’s girlfriend is also his half-sister,
and he believes someone is sabotaging his company.

Austin thought he and Nikki had something special, but when she returns
suddenly announcing her pregnancy, he can’t control his hurt and anger, but
the pull and attraction become too much for him to ignore and he finds
himself in her arms once again. He’s thrust back into the emotions he’s
held onto since Nikki left him.

Nikki Deveraux never had it easy growing up. As a part of a wealthy family,
her parents cared more about their bank account and affairs than they did
about their only daughter.

Watching their marriage crumble before her very eyes she swore that she’ll
do whatever she can to protect herself from succumbing to that kind of
pain. With no desire to find “the one”, Nikki finds herself torn between
love and fear when she discovers herself pregnant.

Taking a chance on her heart, Nikki works to rebuild her relationship with
Austin after running away scared and when she uncovers someone stealing
money from his company she fears he’ll give up on his dream of happiness
yet again.

Will he take a chance on her? Will he let her back into his heart? Or will
the ghosts of his past shred him further?

EXCERPT

Their dinner ends not long after, and having won the argument, Austin pays
the bill. With his hand on the small of her back, he ushers her out of the
diner and onto the busy sidewalk. Carson townspeople move back and forth
across the walkway, still busy hanging stars and twinkling lights in
preparation for their New Year’s bash; a party that brings people into town
from forty counties over.

Nikki stares in quiet amazement as the Fitzgerald sisters work to hang the
twelve foot star in the middle of Main Street, dangling a line between the
town’s parallel buildings. Luckily for them, Austin and a few of the other
local workers rush over to help the aging fabric store owners.

Once the star is placed to their liking, Austin returns to where Nikki is
waiting against the wall of Angie’s diner. As he approaches, Nikki feels
the first trickle of wetness falling on her cheek. Only then does she
notice that the light snowfall seems to be increasing in heaviness as it
continues.

Coming to stand beside her, Austin turns his attention in her direction.

“Are you ready to go? I’m afraid that the snow is forecasted to be a bit
heavy tonight.”

“Yes, sure.”

Taking her by her elbow, the heat of his hand filtering through the
thickness of her coat, Austin guides her to his large work truck. Parked
parallel alongside the street, as she steps off the sidewalk to enter the
vehicle, her foot slips on the slick precipitation. Instead of falling face
first into the side of the truck as she was anticipating with a wince,
Nikki finds herself twisted around and resting in Austin’s overly muscled
arms.

“Are you ok?” he asks, cradling her close to his body, but in the moment,
Nikki is speechless.

Unable to form any words, she simply nods her head. Trapped in a heated
exchange with this man she’s missed for so very long now, Nikki feels
herself leaning closer into his body, bringing her lips an inch from his,
but as if struck by terror, Austin straightens abruptly and steps away from
their embrace. Instead of kissing her as she had hoped, he opens the truck
door and lifts her by her hips, placing her into his truck. He angrily
slams the door closed, shaking the truck and Nikki as she sits inside,
stunned.

His eyes spew hatred as he climbs into the driver’s seat and Nikki turns to
gaze out the window, shrinking into herself. Her hands rest protectively on
her stomach as she rests against the door, as far from Austin as she can
possibly be. The warmth of her breath caresses the cold glass, causing the
window to fog with each exhalation of air.

“Nikki…” Austin pleads, attempting to garner her attention.

She turns to study him.

Running his fingers through his hair exasperatedly, he simply says, “I
can’t do it again.”

“Do what?” she whispers in return.

“Fall in love with you. I just can’t do it, Nikki. It would kill me this
time.”

Release Day Blitz ~ Damaged Locke ~ by ~ Victoria Ashley & Jenika Snow

Aston Locke
Whispers of the Locke brothers fill the town, facts and reality twisted to fit what these motherfuckers believe they know about us.
That we’re sadistic bastards, incapable of any real emotions or fear.
Maybe they’re not wrong about that.
That is, until I set my sights on Kadence King, getting just as drawn to her as I am the darkness. It’s the first time I’ve felt anything in a long time.
But would she really be scared knowing the depth, the lengths I go with my brothers to make any fucker who crosses us pay?
I need a woman who can accept me for who I am.
For what I am.
I’m hoping like hell it’s her, because I want nothing more than to claim her as mine…

Kadence King
I know Aston’s dangerous, know people fear him. But I want him. I’m drawn to him, just as he’s drawn to the darkness.
I should be afraid of him, should turn the other way, but I can’t. I’ve gone mad and let him in my room, in my life, allowing him to consume me.
He possesses me, dominates me. Aston Locke shows me what it means to want to be claimed by him and only him.
And when he tells me I’M HIS, I have no doubt that’s the truth.
Because in the end it’s what I want too.
No matter how dangerous he is…

I’m crowding her. She’s nervous because of it, maybe even second-guessing letting me into her room.

I inhale. Fuck, she smells good, really damn good.

“I’m Aston Locke, a mean motherfucker that you just let all up in your space.” I lower my gaze to her throat, see her swallow, watch the slight curve move up and down. “Tell me your name,” I demand with a growl.

I could have said it a little nicer, tried to pretend and be sweet, gentle. But to hell with it; I’m not going to pretend to be someone I’m not.

“Kadence.” Her voice is soft and so damn innocent. “Kadence King.”

Kadence King.

God, how I want to defile her, make her see what all the hype is about concerning my brothers and me. I can imagine her naked, spread out for me, willing to do whatever the fuck I say. And she would submit to me, let me leave my marks on her, pretty purple and blue fingerprints that showed my ownership.

“What have you heard about the Lockes?” I want to hear her speak, want to know what she knows. Hell, I want to be pressed right up against her, her small body so soft where mine is hard.

I want to breathe the same air as her.

I want to fucking own her.

What the hell?

She swallows again, her breathing hard, fast.

She’s nervous.

I lower my gaze to her chest, see the way her tits press against the stretchy material of her shirt. Her nipples are hard, and my fingers itch to touch them.

I might be a dangerous bastard, a violent fucker, but I don’t touch a girl without her wanting me to. I’ll wait until Kadence begs me, asks me to push my dick deep inside her, making her mine.

“I heard you guys aren’t to be messed with.” Her voice is low, really damn low. “I heard you keep to yourself, aren’t social, and if someone crosses you guys…” She trails off, and I lift my brow, wanting more. “That you take care of it in the only way you know how.”

“The only way we know how?”

She nods and licks her lips. “With guns and bats, hammers, or whatever else you can find to make it bloody.”

I chuckle low. That’s about right.

“And you thought it was a good idea to let one of us in your room, this close to you?”

She shrugs, and I see something shift over her face. She’s trying to be strong.

Cute.

“Maybe not, but too late now.”

Hearts & Arrows

Title: Paper Fools

Author: Staci Hart

Release Day: April 17th

About Paper Fools:

Aphrodite knows love — just don’t ask her to figure out her own mess.

Rather than deal with her sticky love life, she toys with the hearts of unwitting humans. It’s a little game she plays, and the stakes are high. Lucky for her, she’s just found the perfect match.

Lex is everything Dean needs, but he can’t have her.

It doesn’t matter that her eyes speak to a long forgotten part of him, or that her art and poetry touch his shredded heart. She’s off limits — crossing that line would implode his band and everything he’s ever cared about. There’s only one option: stay away from her, no matter the cost. Even if the price is his heart.

Dean is everything Lex wants, but she can’t take the risk.

The second she meets him, she knows her heart is in danger. She’s convinced it’s only attraction that has her hung up on the dark, quiet lead singer, but with every day that passes, she knows it’s more. It’s just that she can’t put her heart on the line. She won’t — love has never been worth the sacrifice.

If only they knew they were just pawns in a much bigger game. And in the game of love, Aphrodite never loses.

Londa, who I’m sure used to wipe my nuts clean, sends me a wink while balancing a tray of drinks. Then Liza, who I’m also sure cleaned my crack, hugs me, but I do my best to follow the queen to the bar. I saddle up to a stool while she rounds behind the bar. She goes straight into bartending mode while checking on the rest of the bar. Her entertainment is up on the stage singing away, the crowd is legit, and she’s slinging out drinks.

Peaches slides me a whiskey neat then another. Before I know it, the tip of my black work boot is tapping to the country music blaring throughout the small, crowded bar. Being perched at the end of the bar where the waitresses put in orders has its own perks.

Hello, cowboy boots and shorty shorts while slinging drinks. My mind eases, wiping away all the worries and real life stress as each drink goes down. Peaches leans in every once in awhile letting me know my drink tab, but I just wave her on like I’m going to pay. Her pussy jokes are about to backfire and I smirk as I down the fourth drink.

“Excuse me.” A shoulder nudges mine.

When I look up to the movement, I come eye to eye with a raven-haired beauty. I’m clearly in her space, but the foggy cloud in my judgment is overpowering. She’s pretty, like a shiny nickel pretty.

I stare like a stark ass fool. Her emerald eyes hypnotize me something fierce. I should speak, but it seems all I can do is stare. I know what Tristan, the well-hung hero in the romance books, would do and I know what that badass biker, Trace, would do, yet, I just stare at her, getting drunker on her looks.

“Sit up.” She bites down on her bottom lip to stifle the rest of her message.

I guess dickhead, asshole, or fuckface would follow, but she refrains from using any of these terms all the while plastering on her poker face while trying to get more drinks from the bar.

“Help me.” I can Goddamn right sit up on my own, but her touch would be nice.

“Okay.” She shakes her head, apparently not amused by me.

That’s when I see her tits and my God are they a perfect set of tits. Motherfucking titties. I need my palms, lips, and mouth on those arts of perfection. It’s all about admiration for the perfect work of art. I’m all about being a professor of art and respecting the subject.

My clear admiration of the beauty before me is abruptly interrupted when the stool my ass is perched on is kicked out from underneath me. My ass lands hard on the wood floor. Peering back up at her I finally catch a smile gracing her lips.

“Did that help?” she asks, picking up her tray filled with drinks.

“Got the job done. I guess.” I stand slowly, cupping my nuts and hoping her next move isn’t to jab me there.

Peaches’ cackles join the conversation. “See you met Vannie, Hart.”

I narrow my eyes at the dark-haired goddess. “Vannie. Nice.”

She rolls her eyes with no desire to entertain me any longer. Her ass is entertaining enough as she sways out onto the floor. I’m a tall man, easily over six feet, and this woman in front of me is tiny in stature, but her attitude more than makes up for it.

“Leave her alone.” Peaches places another whiskey neat in front of me.

“She’s the one that knocked me on my ass.” I pound the entire drink in one long gulp since Little Miss Hot Ass killed my buzz.

“I’m serious, Hart. She’s a roamer. Don’t know her story, but if I had to guess it’s as dark as her black hair.”

“What? Did you hit on her and she turned you down?” I smirk over the glass.

Peaches shakes her head, but she has a glimpse of a smile dancing on her face. “No, too young for me. She’s my best worker so don’t scare her off, asshole.”

“Whatever, Cougar Cakes.”

The band up on the stage isn’t half bad even though country music tends to make my ears bleed. They’re upbeat with an original sound and music. I notice three or four big suits enjoying a drink and listening while tapping their fingers on the table.

I slow down on the drinks knowing my limit. Drinking was my one vice to get me through life after returning home from my deployment. Our band of brothers was hit hard. We had lost a handful before we returned. I saw shit I can never forget. Booze numbed that ache until Izzy came screaming into our world. Then it was all her and keeping up the bed and breakfast I’d bought.

It was a fixer upper at best and super cheap, but it was more therapy to restore and turned out to be a profitable business even though at one point I could only afford air to eat. It was all worth it. Cub and his family now run it for me. They own it. I left the papers behind because I knew he’d never accept.

I’m a roamer like that. My heart grows wild and the desire inside me flairs up with the need to move on. I’ve quit wondering when I’ll strike gold in life and find the one person or place that can keep me rooted. Instead, I float with the breeze and enjoy life as it comes.

“Thank you, everyone. Up next for your entertainment is the very talented Miss Savannah Ray.”

The voice booming over the microphone catches my attention. I look up to see the girl Peaches calls Vannie take the stage with a guitar strapped to her front. I have no idea how much time has floated since our first encounter. She’s changed into a white sundress with dainty straps. Her feet are covered with worn, brown cowboy boots.

She’s pulled her hair up into a ponytail. Her defensive, badass aura has disappeared leaving behind a timid woman up in the spotlight. No band members surround her. It’s just her up there.

“Watch this.” Peaches nudges me in the shoulder.

The moment Vannie opens her mouth, magic happens. Her voice is haunting, delicate, soothing, and beautiful. I’m in awe of the way she sings into the microphone, blocking out the rest of the bar. It’s by far the best voice that’s ever graced my ears.

It’s my new favorite song even though I have no idea what it is. The bar grows eerily silent with everyone hypnotized by her honey-laced voice. The blush that creeps on the apples of her cheeks is adorable. She ducks her head once the song is finished and the bar goes wild with cheers. Some even stand on their feet cheering away.

She removes her guitar for the next song. I recognize it since it’s been played on the radio several times. “Let Her Go” by Passenger has never sounded so seductive. Her voice controls the entire song with her hips swaying softly from side to side. She never makes eye contact while deep in the lyrics. It’s as if she’s pouring all of her soul into the words.

Song after song streams from her and never once does the bar go back to socializing. She keeps their attention the whole time. You could hear a pin drop between songs.

“Thank you.” She drops her head and moves off stage.

Peaches hollers out last call and then sits next to me with a drink in her hand. “So, what do you think now?”

Too stunned to talk, I remain still and quiet.

“Well, that’s a first, somebody finally shut you up.”

“She’s so different up there.” I point to the empty stage.

“Yeah.” Peaches nods sipping from her drink. “Like I said, I don’t know her story, but could guess she’s street smart, but shy when it comes to being on the stage.”

“She’s fucking talented. Why hasn’t she been scooped up yet?” I ask.

“She doesn’t want it.”

“Why?”

Peaches doesn’t get the chance to reply before we’re interrupted by Vannie herself.

“Hey, need help closing up?” She tucks her hands into the front of her shorts pockets.

She’s changed again. Odd.

“You can head home, Vannie, got it covered here.” Peaches hops from the stool and hugs her. “See you tomorrow night.”

“Okay, thanks.”

I don’t miss the fact that she doesn’t make eye contact with me this time. You’d think I had on an invisibility cloak, but it doesn’t stop me from studying that sweet little ass as she waltzes off. She stops near a table, sets down her guitar, and proceeds to put a hoodie over her head. Her dark hair blends into the material of the pitch black hoodie making her allure all the more powerful.

“Vannie,” Peaches hollers out.

She pivots slowly, grabbing her guitar once again and giving Peaches her attention.

“You get your car fixed?”

Shyly she shakes her head.

“Girl, I’m going to beat your ass.”

“I’m only five blocks away.”

“It’s dark. You’re young and gorgeous. I don’t care how close you live.”

Without thinking, I hop up from the stool. “I’ll walk her home.”

“No.” Vannie’s defensive attitude flairs right back up with no hesitation.

“Hey, I’m a good guy.” I hold up both of my hands. “You can even frisk me to make sure I don’t have any weapons.”

I wink at her. I’m beginning to think she has no personality at all. But her voice just a few minutes ago convinced me otherwise.

Peaches convinces Vannie that I will be walking her home. “I’ll apologize in advance, Vannie, but Hart is a good guy. You shouldn’t be out there walking alone.”

“I’ve seen scar…”

Peaches lays her hand on Vannie’s forearm. “I’m sure you have, doll, but not a hair on your head is getting hurt on my watch. Now get going, you two.”

Release Blitz ~ Sever ~ by ~ Alexis Noelle

Title: Sever
Series: Deathstalkers MC Novel
Author: Alexis Noelle
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: April 17, 2017

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, and I’m a damn idiot.
That’s what he does to me.
Ryker. Smith.

The first heartbreak is always the hardest to heal
And those wounds get ripped right back open,
When he walks back into my life.

Seven years,
It took seven long and grueling years,
To get that cocky, leather-wearing bastard out of my mind.
I thought I’d never get over him, never fix what he broke,
And now he’s back,
Every sexy inch of him,
The difference is now I’m taking charge.
This time he’ll be the fool.

Walking up, I see a few guys hanging around and talking so I make my way over to them. Their eyes follow me the whole way and I momentarily regret wearing heels because everyone knows heels and gravel just do not mix.

“You the chick from the accounting place?”
My first reaction is to correct him but I hold my tongue. These don’t look like the kind of guys I really want to mouth off to and, really, in their world “chick” might be considered a compliment. I use my hand to shield my eyes from the sun because squinting is never a good look. “I’m looking for Ryder.”
The name doesn’t seem to register on any of their faces and for a minute I wonder if I have walked into the wrong place. That would be just my luck.
“Megan.” I hear his voice and it still sends chills through me. “In here.”
There’s a click and a side door opens. I walk toward it, feeling the eyes of the bikers on my back like daggers. When I get there, I peek inside. Its’s pretty basic, with only a desk with a computer and a few different piles of papers to fill the space. I step inside, smelling the faintest hint of mildew. It’s unpleasant, to say the least, and I scrunch up my nose.
“Why didn’t any of those guys know who you are?”
He doesn’t look at me. His gaze is on the papers in front of him as he sifts through them, putting some in one pile and others in another. “Because people don’t call me that here, and neither can you.”
“Really?” I laugh. “So what exactly am I supposed to call you?”
He sits down on the corner of the desk. “Tracker.”
I shake my head putting my purse down on the desk.
“Something wrong with my name?” His eyes narrow and my gut twists, reminding me of the nerves I felt in the car.
“Apart from the fact that you aren’t a bloodhound and it isn’t your name?” I cross my arms and jut out a hip. A lot has changed since high school. I’m no longer the pushover I was, and part of that is because of him, and though I might have been hesitant to stand up to the apes outside, the man in front of me is a whole different story.
“It is my name—at least, it’s my road name. It’s what everyone uses here.” He shakes his head and starts turning on the lights before moving to the computer. The screen springs to life, the display showing the same symbol that was on the back of his vest the other day.
“And if everyone jumped off a bridge, would you?” I arch an eyebrow at him. My body might be completely on edge being this close to him, and my mind might be freaking out thinking about all the memories of us, but my mouth has no problem poking the bear.
Ryder takes a few steps toward me, closing the distance between us until we are only a few inches apart. Having him this close makes my heart feel like a jackhammer. “Listen, as much as I like your smart mouth, you need to watch it around here. Respect is important, so while people are around you need to rein that shit in. When it’s just us, run that sexy mouth all you want.” He winks at me before walking past, his arm brushing mine and sending a heat through me.
“You can’t say shit like that to me, Ryder. We aren’t kids anymore. I’m here to do a job and that’s it.” I force my face to harden and wipe all emotion from it before turning toward him.
“Whatever you need to help you sleep at night, princess. Thing is, we might not be kids anymore, but I still know you better than you know yourself. I saw the way you looked at me the other day.” He steps close to me, his head bending down until his lips are close to my ear, the heat of his breath making my legs weak. “I know you feel this as much as I do. I just have to wait until it consumes you and you come begging.”
“Screw you.”
“All in good time.” He winks before walking out the door.

Author: Phoenyx Slaughter
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: April 28, 2017

When your whole world becomes unhinged, only love makes sense.

Kadence Rivers

Blaise Savage, is everything I don’t want in a man. Crude, rude, bossy, overbearing. Not to mention that he’s Vice President of the Savage Dragons MC. I’ve got enough bossy bikers up in my business. I don’t need another one, especially now. My newfound sister, Karina, is hooked up with the enforcer for the Iron Bulls MC, so I have all the domineering bikers I can tolerate in my life.

Besides, Blaise and me, we’re bad for each other. Sure, he’s hot and my body craves him like an addict. But we tried being together once before, and our love made us lie to the people we care about. We even lied to each other until one of us ended up getting hurt.

Blaise Savage

A couple months ago, I let Kady slip through my fingers because I didn’t tell her the truth. Not happening again. She’s smart-mouthed and totally frustrating, but she’s the only woman I’ve ever loved. Now I’ve got a second chance to make her mine, and I’m not throwing it away.

First, I have to keep her safe. She’s in trouble and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her, even align my club with the Iron Bulls MC. And if we both make it out alive, I’m not wasting any time getting Kady right back where she belongs—naked and tied to my bed. Because the one thing I’m sure of, when my world goes crazy, loving Kady is the only thing that makes any sense.
Phoenyx “Nyx” Slaughter has many roles, including writer, reader, and roughneck wrangler. She loves taboo stories—the filthier the better.

Maxon Maxon Maxon! I spent about half the book hating him and half of it loving him. Maxon is determined that he’s going to beat his backstabbing brother at being able to sell this amazing property on Maui. Which seriously, it’s Maui, is there a “bad” property?? Moving on, he’s discussing the plan with his employees at a bar when he is struck. He sees the most gorgeous woman who he knows will be the perfect distraction for his brother from bidding on the property.
I love Keeley. There was never a point where I didn’t. And she made me think about my own life and philosophies about things. She agrees to Maxon’s insulting proposal because she knows she needs business knowledge that Maxon can provide to achieve her goals.
This was a sweet story that made me laugh at times and almost cry. Which isn’t the best at work. This ends in an HEA but you HAVE to know what happens with Griff. And you will, in the next story. Oy!!

5 stars!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Just One Spark:

Maverick Mitchell is ready to prove he’s learned from his mistakes and move forward. But before it’s time to buckle down, one last fling won’t hurt. Or so he thought. On the first day of his new start, the feisty redhead he met over the weekend is the first person he sees.

An office romance isn’t the smartest idea. Sneaking around is an even worse one, but neither can deny the fire that has sparked between them. Exclusive Excerpt:

With my job and with Beth. I’m not exactly sure how I got to be this lucky. I was making some poor choices and someone somewhere should have made me suffer a little longer while I learned from my mistakes. And who knows, maybe risking my job to be with Beth is what’s going to bite me in the ass, but it’s worth it. She’s worth it.

The early morning sun is just peeking through the blinds. The small ray falls across Beth’s bare back where I find myself tracing her skin with my free hand until she stirs awake.

“Somehow, you’re the only person who can wake me before seven thirty and I don’t want to bite your head off,” she mumbles, her face in the pillow.

“That’s because I have a much better peace offering in the morning than everyone else,” I say. “Plus I have another idea for those handcuffs we used last night.” My heart about stopped when we got back to my place after the barbeque and she pulled them out of her purse. This wonderful woman is just full of surprises and she’s all mine.

“And what’s that?” she asks.

With the same hand that was caressing her skin, I tickle my fingers down her back and over her ass. She moans, her body stretching into mine as she inches closer to me. She’s still naked from last night, which is working out to my advantage right now.

When my hand is splaying over her right cheek, I move in one swift motion to position myself on top of her. She gasps with excitement, a wide smile peering up at me.

I nudge her legs apart with my knee and settle myself between them. Her back bows and her hands grip the sheets as I kiss my way down the front of her body.

Her taste will never get old. Each time is like the first time. I can’t get enough. I want more. I need more.

I take my time, reveling in the way her delicate and soft skin feels under my touch. I heard somewhere that redheads are supposed to have freckles almost everywhere, but Beth is different. Her freckles appear in small groups. Like the three under her left ear, the four that fall into the shape of diamond right between her breasts and the many that scatter just over her right hipbone. She has more, but they are light and hardly noticeable. The everyday person wouldn’t notice, but to me, each one is like a piece of art I want to memorize on her body.

“It’s not called a peace offering if you’re just going to tease me, Maverick,” she says with a raspy voice. Her hands trail up my arms to my chest and then around my neck as she slides her fingers into my hair, pulling me down to her. Her lips are soft when she kisses me, but once she slips her tongue into my mouth, my body responds immediately.

Excerpt:

The minute he looked up at her, and his eyes landed on hers, she saw in them how she felt. Desire, yearning for something more, but neither of them wanting to say it. Waiting for him to make the move, she scooted back against the wall as she kept her eyes on his. The thoughts… she needed to keep this friends only. She had no intention of doing anything that her thoughts were suggesting.

“You should really be going,” she said, stammering over each word. “I have to be up early and I have so much I have to do before I can even call it a night.”

A smile tugged at his lips as his eyes focused on her lips. “You’re rambling again, Janelle.”

Crossing her legs in front of her, she squirmed at the affect he had on her. His eyes, his lips, everything about him at this exact moment was her undoing. She shook her head in an attempt to stop the overwhelming, ridiculous sexy thoughts she was having.

“Really, you should go,” she said again, a failed attempt on her part to make him leave. Her mind and her heart were playing a fierce game of tug of war. One part wanted him to leave before anything could happen they’d later regret, but the other part, the part of her that longed to be loved and desired, wanted him to stay.

Placing his hands on either side of her on the bench, he pulled himself up. Leaning over her, he whispered into her ear, “I don’t think that’s what you really want me to do.”

His words rasped against her ear, sending chills down her spine, causing her to arch into his chest. She released a heavy breath as she fought back the urge to unleash her inner desires. Feeling a sensation she hadn’t felt in a long time, she shifted against the heated bench. Restless and craving what he had to offer, her brain fought against her desire with logical reasoning. This man had once been her enemy, a man she had not wanted anything to do with, only a few short months ago.

“Tell me what you really want, Janelle,” he whispered breathless against her ear.

For the love of God if he didn’t stop with that whispering, she was going to…

Scooping her up into his arms, he shifted her against his waist, allowing her legs to wrap around him. He allowed her a split second to resist, and when she didn’t, he carried her to the couch and set her gently underneath him as he placed his firm, but soft, lips against hers.

She pressed into the kiss, allowing his tongue to wander into her mouth. Shutting off her thoughts, she wrapped her arms around his neck and gripped her hands in his hair. He had given her plenty of chances to stop what was happening, but she wouldn’t allow him to pull away.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” he asked, breathless as he unbuttoned his checkered shirt.

Did he really want her to think this through? It was a bit too late for that, wasn’t it? She had long ago shut her mind off. She wasn’t allowing any negative thoughts to ruin whatever this was between them. Her friends had always told her she hadn’t taken enough risks in life. If this wasn’t the biggest risk she was about to take, she didn’t know what was.

She needed to tell him something, but debated not to. She didn’t want to ruin whatever this was, whether it was a one night stand or friends with benefits or possibly something more, she didn’t care. The desire and the heat they shared between them tonight was something…

“I’m not staying in Seattle,” she said, barely able to get the words out between his fierce kissing.

“Let’s not talk about that right now,” he said, pulling off his shirt. His eyes fell on hers as he sat up. “Are you sure you want to do this?”
