Release Blitz ~ Sin ~ by ~ Emma Hart

Damien fox lived up to his name. Cunning, sly, and dangerous, fifty percent of Vegas’ strip clubs were his.

Whatever he wanted, money, attention, women, he got.

And now he wanted to buy my bar, no matter the cost.

I wanted him to go to hell on a first-class ticket.

He played a dirty game, and I followed his rules. I let him think he would win.

Despite our differences, it was clear to see that we were no more than two broken hearts colliding in the darkness.

Closed off, sexy, and holding a pain that would crush a lesser man, he was the ultimate sin.

One I couldn’t deny myself, even though I knew better than to trust a fox…

(SIN is book one of the Vegas Nights series. Each book in this series is a standalone novel.)

“Why wouldn’t you talk about your work in the restaurant?” I set my purse on the floor by my feet and shifted to face him. “I’ve never seen anyone get out of a dinner so fast.”

A small smile tugged the edge of his lips up. “Just like I said in there, some things shouldn’t be discussed in public.”

“Like politics and religion.”

“You have a very smart mouth.” He glanced down at said smart mouth. “Do you ever turn it off?”

“Never,” I reassured him. “Now, we’re no longer in public, so tell me about what you do.”

He rested an arm along the back of the seats. His fingertips landed just inches from my hair, and I gave a cursory glance at their closeness.

Shivers tickled their way down my spine as he stared at me. He was entirely still except for the way his eyes flicked left and right repeatedly. It felt an awful lot like he was taking me in, committing me to memory for some strange reason.

“A lot of people don’t like me. Pissing people off is part of business, and I’ve done that a lot, so I try to keep my work private. It’s that simple, sweetheart.”

“I get it. But now, it is private.” I wasn’t going to let this drop. I’d quit reading before I did that. “I’ve told you a lot about my bar tonight, so now tell me something.”

“You have the innate ability to make me feel like I’m back in high school and writing an essay about being reasonable.”

“If you’d done that, you might know how to be reasonable.” I paused when he laughed. It was low blow time again. “Look, Mr. Fox—”

“Damien.”

“You don’t have to tell me anything about your business and what you do, but given that you’re failing embarrassingly in your attempt to buy my business, it’s probably in your best interests to start talking.”

He leaned forward and took my hair between his finger and thumb. Slowly, he twirled the strands around his finger, each twist lightly tugging against my scalp. “You should have been a cop. You’re very persuasive.”

“In that case, you could probably learn a thing or two from me. Your own skills are lacking.”

“I don’t know.” He dropped his voice to a low murmur. “I think, if I tried hard enough, I could persuade you into a few things.”

I raised my eyebrows. We’d moved on from talking about business. Once again, the Master of Deflection was doing what he’d been doing for most of our evening together.

“I still haven’t forgiven you for your antics yesterday, so I wouldn’t even try it.” I tapped his hand so he released his hold on my hair. It tumbled away from his finger so I could smooth the strands back down and gave him a pointed look.

“Forgiven me, or yourself?” His eyes glinted knowingly. Almost self-assuredly.

Hell, there was no almost about it. He knew exactly how I’d felt when he’d left me. He knew exactly what he’d done to me, and I did, too. Denying that I was annoyed at myself because I could still remember how it’d felt when he’d taken my chin in his hand was pointless.

“Both,” I answered, sitting up a little straighter. “That doesn’t invite you to exercise poor judgment and make another attempt to mix business with pleasure?”

“Attempt? Sweetheart, if I’d attempted to do that, there would have been a lot less business and a lot more pleasure before I’d left you.”

“You think I’d give in to you so easily?”

At those words, Damien slid smoothly across the leather seats. His arm, still resting along the back of them, hung down behind me, his thumb just brushing against my back. The rest of his body was mere inches from mine, and I bit the inside of my lip as he trailed his fingertips up my bare arm. My eyes followed his feather-light touch while his stayed fixated on my face.

He coasted his fingers over my shoulder where he touched them to my jaw. Lightly, he tilted my face around and up until I had no choice but to look him in the eyes again—to look right there where I could see exactly how much he wanted me.

Dark.

Hot.

Full of temptation.

Heavy and intense, his eyes screamed of raw lust and selfish need.

“I don’t think you’d give in at all,” he whispered. “I think your body would do that for you, and you’d be helpless to it.”

“You think a lot of yourself, don’t you?” I said quietly. I touched my finger to his belt, then ran it up the length of his torso, ghosting it over the solid packs of muscle that made up his body until I flicked the starchy collar of his shirt. “You think you can do this and I’ll give in to what is essentially a biological reaction? I’m stronger than you take me for, you know.”

He curled his fingers around my chin and dipped his face to mine. “She says with a racing heart.”

I pressed one finger against his mouth and ran another along his strong thigh…right up to where his hard cock was straining against the soft material of his pants. “Don’t you hate it when your attraction to someone is so obvious?”

His jaw clenched. “If you have any sense at all inside that gorgeous head of yours, you’ll move your hand.”

Mackenzie Walker is attempting to enjoy the last of her siblings’ weddings when her long-lost first love, Alexander “Zan” Elliott, crashes the reception. During the last ten years she’s cultivated her reputation as tough and unsentimental, but one glimpse of Zan softens her heart and sets her pulse racing. But he claims to be a short-timer in the area and she’ll never admit—not even to herself—she’s been carrying a torch for him all this time.

Zan Elliott has business at Blue Arrow Lake and then he’ll go right back to his wandering-the-world life as a documentary filmmaker. But seeing the Walkers again, seeing Mac again, brings back the best of childhood memories. There are lessons he learned then too, however. Love means loss and starting things up once more with Mac might ultimately hurt them both. Yet battling his feelings is getting more difficult by the day…

Winter is anything but cold in the snowy mountains surrounding beautiful Blue Arrow Lake as a reunion between two former lovers sparks a brand new fire.

This is an enhanced version of a book previously published as CAN’T FIGHT THIS FEELING and includes extras.

Another one of my favorite type of books. The girl gets her heartbroken, turns into super tough woman. Mac had hardened her heart and her resolve after her boyfriend Zan broke her heart. She’s tried and failed to have other relationships and so she’s done with it. Zan comes back into town, excited to see Mac and eager to pick up where their romance ended. But Zan still doesn’t plan on staying in town and Mac doesn’t want to be a fling.

I love Christie Ridgway’s writing and it’s been one I’ve read for years. This whole series, while standalones, will be more I re-read.

Adonis_TEASER1

Paige Carter’s fling with the dark-haired, green-eyed Greek was short, but it rocked her world. Her only regret was not finding out whether she’d ever see him again before he returned to Greece.

Apollo Lakkas earned his degree and was thrilled to return to Greece to begin work with his family’s shipping business. His only regret is the way he left the sweet blonde he met in Vegas—who may or may not be his wife.

When an unexpected proposal throws Paige into a panic, she packs a bag for Athens and does the one thing she knows she must do before she can face any kind of future…reconcile her past.

The moment their eyes meet once again, Paige and Apollo feel the same spark that ignited them down the aisle. Will they be able to plan a future together or is their love destined to be nothing but a bittersweet memory?

Adonis_PROMO2

TBRreview.png

It looks like Paige is going to get proposed to (again) by her boyfriend. Paige just isn’t in the mindset to be with him, at least at this point, for the rest of her life. She wants adventures and he just can’t give her that. Plus, there’s the fact of her spring break fling that she may or may not be married to. She kinda needs to wrap that up first.

So she flies to Greece to connect with Apollo and resolve her possible marriage and have her a little vacation as well. Except she is still as attracted to Apollo as she was 3 years ago and all her feelings come rushing back. Apollo feels the same way. His maybe wife is back and he’s not letting her go without a fight.

This is another one of my guilty pleasures – a secret or forgotten possible marriage. I love when either the woman or man are planning on getting engaged but have a past to deal with. And that partner won’t let them go – not in a creepy way (sorry I’m listening to true crime podcasts).

5 stars!

Best friends since we were five years old. She was there for me when I lost my mom. There for me when my dad used me as a punching bag. She was my rock and I needed her more than she ever knew.

It’s been so long since I’ve seen her. So long since I’ve held her hand and felt her heartbeat nearly in sync with my own. She came back for me; my rock, to help me bury the man who shaped who I’ve become.

But she didn’t come alone.

I was used to losing parents, but losing Jenny? To him? No. She’s MY Jenny.

Anastasia:

Here’s the first thing you should know: this is not a fairytale.
Happily-ever-afters are fables, and Prince Charming is a sweet little lie.

I know all this because he taught me.

Once upon a lifetime ago, the rich, arrogant, sinfully gorgeous, and tragically
broken dark prince of the Hamptons was my tormentor. My darkness, my shameful
attraction, my all-consuming, forbidden temptation.

I hate Sebastian Crown because nine years ago, for one night, I was stupid
enough to think I loved him. And I’ve been paying for it ever since.

Except now, he needs me to help him save his empire.

…And he’s not taking no for answer.

Bastian:

She’s my nemesis. My addiction. My weakness.

My obsession.

I used to tell myself I hated Anastasia Bell – for being poor, for not
worshipping the ground I walked on, for looking at me like she pitied me for
being me.

When the rest of my world always told me yes, she was the ever-provoking no.

She thinks I’m a monster – a tragic, fucked-up, broken beast.

She doesn’t know the half of it.

Because she can’t begin to know the crimes of my past, or imagine the things
I’ve done to her behind the scenes since she left this place.

Years ago, I thought breaking her would fix me.

I was wrong.

Now I’ve got her in my sights again, and this time, I won’t be letting her go.
Even if it means we both go down in flames…

Excerpt

“You have no idea what I do, do you?” I asked her point
blank. No point beating around the bush for much longer. And I was curious how
she’d react. Most people would stutter and immediately deny their lack of
knowledge.
I wasn’t surprised when Libby’s reaction was different.
Everything about her was different.
She laughed, the sound a little nervous and a little
sheepish. “I don’t, I’m sorry,” she confessed. “I don’t like to come so
unprepared, but I’m afraid no one was very forthcoming with details about the
job. Just that someone needed a ghostwriter.”
“Only you didn’t know who that someone was,” I leaned back,
watching her.
I couldn’t help it. There was something about her that
captivated me. And I was the kind of man that paid attention when my gut told
me to. I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I had if I hadn’t developed a pretty
damn good set of instincts. And my instincts were saying that Libby Hanson
deserved a closer look.
Two red spots had appeared on her cheeks. “I’m afraid to say
I didn’t know who you were when I walked in. And I still don’t.”
Even my name hadn’t sparked any recognition. Either Libby
had been living under a rock for the past few years or she just didn’t travel
in the kind of circles that discussed the latest tech inventions. Or the latest
millionaire gossip mill. It was incredibly refreshing. Everyone else I had
interviewed for the ghostwriter job had nearly fallen over themselves, quoting
other articles or pieces that had been written about me, trying to impress me.
And that was if they were men. If they were women, they tended to start batting
their eyelashes and making unsubtle attempts to display various body parts.
Even though it had been happening for years – ever since my name and photo were
on the cover of Forbes – I still couldn’t get used to women throwing themselves
at me with such aggression. I’d always been lucky with the ladies, but the fame
and the money made it out of control. I didn’t like fawning, I just found it
annoying. And I really didn’t want to work with someone who was going to try to
flatter and butter me up, even if it was for the sake of the book. A book which
I had been loathed to do in the first place. I hated talking about myself. I
wanted to talk about the work, about what I wanted to accomplish, not which
supermodel I was rumored to be dating or all the money I was making. My
personal life was just that – personal. And I intended to keep that side of me
out of the press and out of this book.
Which is why I found Libby’s lack of information appealing,
and I saw the opportunity to avoid the usual pitfalls I often found when being
interviewed. She didn’t know me, didn’t know my reputation. She would be able
to approach this book without any preconceived notions. Without any agenda. It
could actually be about the work, and not about me.
For the first time the book didn’t seem like the worst idea
ever.
“You’re hired,” I told her.

TBRreview

Libby needs money and she’s written books so she’s a perfect fit to ghost-write Jack Willis’ autobiography, right? Except Libby knows NOTHING about Jack’s world or even who he is. Which Jack decides is perfect. A biographer who doesn’t know about him so he can direct the narrative? She’s perfect!! It doesn’t hurt that he can’t keep his eyes off her too.

I really liked reading this story. Libby seemed so normal and everyday. She likes to craft and writes crafting books. And she is sassy and spunky and curvy and I love that about her.

4.5 stars!

Release Day Blitz ~ Beautiful Mistake ~ by ~ Vi Keeland

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.

He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.

When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.

You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend–smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.

He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he’d done.

Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.

Only it turned out, the man I’d just told off wasn’t the right guy.

Oops. My mistake.

Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.

I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?

That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.

Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.

I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.

Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.

This was going to be interesting…

“You know what Krav Maga is, and you let me spar with my imaginary friend for the last hour?” I let myself go limp, become dead weight, expecting the move to surprise him enough to drop me.

It did not. Instead he rolled with me until his back was against the parched grass, and I was seated astride him. I should have been able to get free since I was on top, but I couldn’t rid myself of his steely grip on my arms, and I knew he’d chosen that position deliberately, to prove his point.

Damn it. This was not the result I wanted—proof that I did, in fact, need him.

“I get it. You’re stronger than me. Now let me up.” Temper-tears stung the back of my throat. Convincing my stepfather that I was going to go to university, convincing my colleagues that I wouldn’t have a nervous breakdown just because some idiot spray painted my door—why did I always have to fight just to live my life the way I wanted?

Instead of gloating and letting me up, my newly vindicated bodyguard tugged me down so that I lay at on top of him. I surprised myself by wanting, suddenly, to bury my face in his T-shirt and just let go for a moment, rather than fight this new reality—that I might actually be in danger.

“I’m not trying to prove that I’m stronger than you. I don’t have to. It’s obvious.” The urge to snuggle passed as I cranked my head around with a glare.

Way to make me feel worse, asshole.

Krav maga is a discipline, and the first rule is to avoid confrontation. You know this. So why the hell are you out here, alone, after dusk?” His words were tinted with frustration, the first hint of emotion he’d shown, and I was surprised enough to stop tugging at his grip. When I did, he let go, and I pushed myself up on his massive chest but didn’t roll off.

“You’re serious.” I waited for the punchline, but it didn’t come. Instead, he fixed me with a stare from those pale eyes, and a shiver skittered down my spine. “You don’t actually think someone is out to get me, do you? It’s a prank, right?”

“Let’s look at it this way.” Propping himself up on an elbow brought that rock-solid stomach of his in contact with my hip. I thought he would push me away, but he didn’t, seeming completely unaffected by the closeness of our bodies.

That stung, because I sure as hell wasn’t. This close, I could feel the warmth of his skin, smell a hint of soap, and it invaded my senses slowly, lazily, like honey melting on a summer day.

“You’re an archaeologist. You search for physical proof of things before you build theories on top of that evidence. Would that be an accurate explanation?”

“Yes.” Narrowing my eyes, I tried to drag my attention from the scent of his skin to what he was saying. My mouth was dry, and the space between my legs that pressed into the cradle between his hip was warm and starting to ache.

He gave no indication that our position was getting him all hot and bothered, too. None. How was I the only one feeling this?

“You have your physical proof. Harassment in the form of vandalism, and the more direct threat with the poster mailed to Margot.” With the sort of ab crunch I couldn’t do even on my best day, he hauled himself into a sitting position, still without pushing me off his lap. “Sure, it could be that

someone just wants to mess with your head. But what if it’s more? Wouldn’t you rather be prepared?”

“I like being prepared.” I ran my tongue over my lips and swallowed. Holy mixed messages. His words, his demeanor—he was still fully in G.I. Joe mode, but still, he hadn’t pushed me away.

“So how is this going to work? You just follow me around all the time?” A thought occurred to me. “You’re not expecting to stay in the same room, are you?”

Looking at him, though, I felt that same strange pull that I had in Margot’s suite. I might not actually mind having him that close.

What was wrong with me?

Margot and the network had been right—I was absolutely in danger. But the threat?

It was him.

About Lauren Hawkeye

Lauren Hawkeye/ Lauren Jameson never imagined that she’d wind up telling stories for a living… though when she looks back, it’s easy to see that she’s the only one who is surprised. Always “the kid who read all the time”, Lauren made up stories about her favorite characters once she’d finished a book… and once spent an entire year narrating her own life internally. No, really. But where she was just plain odd before publication, now she can at least claim to have an artistic temperament.

Lauren lives in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada with her husband, toddler, pit bull and idiot cat, though they do not live in an igloo, nor do they drive a dogsled. In her nonexistent spare time Lauren can be found knitting (her husband claims that her snobby yarn collection is exorbitant), reading anything she can get her hands on, or sweating her way through spin class. She loves to hear from her readers!
