**Write something worth reading**I’m Margaret and I’m a self-published author.
Recently I was fortunate in obtaining New York Times best selling status on my YA/NA book – Ugly, and my YA book – Mistrust.
My last three books have been YA and I’m completely in love with the genre. I love being able to communicate with people through my words and stories.
My writing genres all differ, but the one thing I keep consistent is my heroines. All my female lead characters are strong, gutsy and not the ‘perfect’ woman. While my books all have romantic elements in them, they aren’t just about the romance. They’re about finding strength, acceptance and making life long connections.
I hope you enjoy my stories as much as I have while writing them.

When a marriage of convenience turns into the passion of a
lifetime…
Holden “Havoc” Thompson
My job as the leader of the Moonshine Task Force is my life. I eat, breathe,
and sleep it. The men under my command mean the world to me. Knowing they count
on my guidance has kept my demons at bay for longer than I care to admit.
The control I have over myself is an iron fist that sometimes threatens to
squeeze the life out of me. What I want more than anything is to live again –
let go of the hurt smothering every bit of light I have in this darkness.
I don’t expect it to come in the form of a Moonshiner’s daughter needing my
protection.
Leighton Strather
My whole life has been defined by who my family is. In the state of Alabama,
we’re number one with a target on our backs. The danger and prestige isn’t for
me. I don’t care about the money, and I care too much about the families we’ve
ruined.
My brother and my dad are proud of it. They wear their arrest records like a
badge of honor. Me? I want as far away from the lifestyle as I can get.
It’s the only reason I ask Holden to marry me. At least that’s
what I tell myself.
I never expect his whispered yes to cause such upheaval in my life. Even though
I resist, I learn some havoc is good – and this one? It’s a whirlwind of lust,
hope, and love and all I can do is let it sweep me away.
Every Laramie Brisco book I’ve read, I’ve loved! And the Moonshine Task Force series is no different. Each story I’ve read, I love the main character and say he’s my favorite until I read the next team member’s story. Suffice it to say, I love these books!
Leighton is the daughter and granddaughter of the local moonshiners which should make her naturally Holden aka Havoc’s enemy right? No. Leighton has no desire to get swept up into her family’s business and wants away from them. Holden offered a way out.
Fast forward 6 months and they are still married in name only but they seem to be more interested in each other. Leighton has always been interested in Holden, from the very first time she saw him. But Holden feels that he can’t and won’t do relationships, he’s just protecting Leighton.
I can’t wait for Ace’s story! Each of these MTF-ers, I just wholeheartedly LOVE!!

As owner of the local fishing lodge, Roar is content with his everyday life. And the older he gets, the less he appreciates change. So when a blue-haired, tattooed ‘city girl’ moves into the old motel, shaking up his daily routine, he’s none too pleased.
Still, something about the woman’s easy smile and almost reckless grit has him step up as her keeper.
I slap my thigh where a mosquito just bit me. I wipe at another one that lands on my arm, and pretty soon the buzzing is loud around my head, and I’m frantically waving my hand around my face. A blood-sucking army is out tonight, and I scramble to my feet, snatch up the now empty bottle, and hustle toward the sanctuary of my house. My heart lodges in my throat when I see a figure detach itself from the shadows of the porch. “Was wondering how long it would fucking take before you came running.” I bend over, gasping to get air in my lungs, when I hear the voice. “I swear, Riordan Doyle…one day you’ll be the death of me.” “Not what I had in mind,” he chuckles easily, as he grabs my arm, drags me inside, and out of the way of the charging mosquitoes. “What are you doing here?” I ask, as he takes the bottle from my hand, sets it on the counter, and pulls me into my living room. There he drops down on the threadbare couch and tugs me down beside him. “I thought you went home?” “I did,” he confirms, throwing his arm over my shoulder and tugging me to his chest. “And I was just putting my feet up on the coffee table when I realized I didn’t want to be there.” “No?” “No,” he repeats. “Couldn’t relax. Started thinking about this…thing…between us. And you know what? Waiting for the right time is for the fucking birds.” “It is?” “It absolutely fucking is,” he says with conviction, curving his free hand along my jaw and turning my face toward him. His hazel eyes are almost black in the scarce light of my living room, his heavy-lidded gaze roaming my features before settling on my lips. “I’m thinking right now sounds like the right time.” I can feel the deep rumble of his voice down to my toes, and my own drops a few octaves lower as well. “You do?” I mutter breathlessly as his head bends down. It’s clear from my distinctly unimaginative responses that my brain cells have signed off for the day. I’m starting to sound like a goddamn parrot, but Roar doesn’t give me time to linger on that thought. His mouth is already on mine and his tongue is demanding entry. One moment I’m tucked beside him on the couch, and the next I’m on my back, Roar’s heavy frame covering me, his lips still firmly fused to mine. Good God the man can kiss.

About P.S. I Love You:
First love is always better the second time around.
Basil Manning is happy with his life now that he’s given up on love. He has everything he needs…the houses he’s building, the mansion he’s renovating, and his Bernese Mountain Dog, Crash. In spite of his mother’s insistent attempts to see him married, Basil plans on staying a bachelor. That is, until he finds himself face-to-face with the woman who once broke his heart.
Healing from a long-term relationship that turned abusive, Meg Cooper has flung herself into running her eclectic shop, The Pink Moose. She can’t afford complications, and the too-hot-for-his-own-good Basil Manning, her one time almost fiancé, is definitely a complication. But that irresistible pull between them isn’t over…not by a long shot. If she’s not careful, she’ll break both their hearts…again.
I stood, touching my lips as I watched from the back door of my apartment as Basil’s truck pulled out of the parking lot. He kissed me! He told me he was going to, and my God, he kissed me with enough passion for ten men.
But I spooked or something. It didn’t feel like it was the right thing to do and I asked him to stop, knowing where things would have ended up. The feelings were still there, but somehow different. We were both adults now. We’d both experienced sex on our own and were no longer the two naïve teenagers we once were. Something from that kiss told me once I let him in, he’d be there for me always. Was this what I wanted?
The familiar ping of my phone beckoned me back to reality. I pulled it out of my purse and stared at the screen.
Dinner tomorrow? It’s Saturday. You can meet Crash, and I have something of interest to show you at the old house.
R U texting and driving, young man? I grinned at my comeback as I hit Send.
Not to worry. I pulled over.
You have me curious, and I would love to meet Crash.
I’ll call you after I pick up dog and get him settled at home.
I tapped my nail against the phone, pondering my reply. I’ll be waiting.
Hearts and happy-face images followed.
I wandered deeper into my apartment, setting my purse down on the kitchen table. I still had the bottle of water he’d given me at his place. I took it along with my phone into the living room and sank into the comfy couch.
It suddenly dawned on me—someone had been in the apartment. The lid to my laptop was open, something I never did. But who? Worst yet, were they still here? I grabbed the baseball bat I kept by the back door and tiptoed through the apartment. I opened every closet, peered under the bed and behind doors until I was satisfied I was alone.
My nerves were rattled by the idea of someone being brazen enough to trespass into my private domain. But who? Time to get the locks changed. Better still, time to perhaps consider installing a security system both in the apartment and the shop.
This was a good story but I wanted it to go more in-depth. It almost glossed over thoughts and feelings and I just didn’t get dragged in to the story.
Meg has moved back home after breaking up with her fiance. Moved back home to stay with her sister and brothers and regroup. Her childhood ex-boyfriend, Basil, is a contractor and volunteers to help Meg’s store get off the ground.
Basil and Meg almost fall immediately back into a relationship. They’re adults now and they’ve lived some and know what they want.
I really loved Crash – but I’m a dog lover.

Title: The Lucky Heart
Author: Devney Perry
Genre: Contemporary Romance
About The Lucky Heart:
Life on his ranch could be their future. If they can overcome their past.
Felicity’s life story reads like the script to a bad soap opera. Girl’s high-school boyfriend becomes a drug addict. Girl falls for boyfriend’s best friend. Girl leaves them both behind only to return home years later for murdered ex-boyfriend’s funeral. Now she’s back home in Montana, ready to start fresh. She’s got a long list of amends to make and relationships to rebuild, including one with the man who has owned her heart for sixteen years.
Silas doesn’t need much. He’s got a great horse, close friends and the Lucky Heart ranch, but something has always been missing. He’s not an idiot. He knows the missing piece is Felicity. And now that she’s returned to Prescott, he’s got a second chance to win her heart. This time, the only thing standing in his way is history. Drudging up the past is going to be about as painful as playing tug of war with barbed wire. But if they can heal old wounds, he’ll get the girl he should have had all along.
What a fucking horrible day.
Wes’s funeral had been about as much fun as shoveling horse shit. I’d gone home to the ranch afterward and gotten straight to work, hoping it would distract me, but after three hours, I knew nothing was going to take my mind off Felicity.
Fourteen years. I hadn’t seen her in fourteen years, and today was the day she’d come back to Prescott. For Wes. She’d stayed away from her family, from me, for fourteen years, but she’d come back for Wes?
That stung.
Then on top of it all, she’d acted like an ice queen. It made the fact that she was still the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen even harder to stomach. I just couldn’t believe the harsh and rude woman at Wes’s funeral had been my Felicity.
So here I was, standing outside her hotel room door in the freezing cold, needing to see for myself if she had really changed that much. Because if she had, then maybe I could finally let her go.
I raised my fist and banged on the door, taking out some of my frustration on its wooden face.
“Coming,” Felicity called. She must not have checked the peephole because when she opened the door, she sucked in a sharp breath.
Fuck. Why did she have to be so beautifully sad? All I wanted was to pull her into my arms. Her eyes had been covered at the funeral, hidden behind huge black sunglasses, but now I saw they were red and puffy. She’d cried for losing Wes. Had she ever cried that much over me?
Without a word, she stepped back and swung an arm out for me to come in. I stepped inside and crossed the room but didn’t sit.
“How are you?” she asked after closing the door.
“Fine. You?”
She shrugged. “I’ve had better days.”
“So since you’re in a bad place, it gives you the right to treat people like shit?” The words flew out of my mouth without thought and I regretted them the second she winced.
She took a calming breath. “I know I didn’t handle myself the right way at the funeral. I’m sorry for being rude to you and I’ll be apologizing to my family on Christmas.”
I scoffed. “Did you apologize to your mom and brother for not visiting for fourteen fucking years?”
She winced again.
Fuck. What was wrong with me? I had always tried to keep a hold on my temper where Felicity was concerned but again I was blurting out attacks.
This time, she didn’t keep that calm composure. Her spine stiffened and her lip curled. “That’s none of your business,” she snapped. “I apologize for being rude to you at the funeral, but if all you’re here to do is yell at me, get out.”
I closed the gap between us, standing right in her space and glaring down at her. Most people, men and women, would have cowered. I usually intimidated people with this glare, but not Felicity. Time hadn’t dulled her feisty spirit in the slightest. She didn’t move an inch, just glared right back.
“You’d like that,” I sneered, “wouldn’t you?”
“Like what?” she asked through gritted teeth.
“For me to leave so you can go back to pretending that avoiding this place and the people here wasn’t totally fucking selfish.” I was being a complete and total asshole. I knew it, I just couldn’t stop. All the pain I’d buried for years had bubbled up to the surface and was spewing out of my mouth.
Felicity’s eyes welled but she didn’t lose her edge. “What else? Obviously, you came here to pick a fight. To hurt me back. So, keep going. If that’s what it will take to make you feel better, then please, keep going.”
Another thing that hadn’t changed: she called me on my shit. My anger deflated and I shook my head. “It’s not making me feel better.”
“Then what will?”
Not fighting with her would make me feel better. Having her explain what had happened all those years ago would make me feel better. Hearing why she’d stayed away for so long would make me feel better.
But I didn’t tell her any of that. Instead, I crushed my mouth to hers and hugged her tight so she couldn’t push me away. Not that she tried. Her arms wrapped around my waist and she fisted my shirt in her hands.
I poured all of the pain and anger she had caused me into our kiss. She gave me all of her grief and heartache. Neither of us stopped until we were both exhausted from hot and angry sex.
While she slept on my side, I stared at the ceiling, wishing tonight had gone a whole lot differently. I wished I weren’t still drawn to her. I wished that she had come back for me, not Wes. I wished that I weren’t such a damned fool, always waiting on the sidelines, ready to pick her up when he broke her heart.
All tonight did was prove one thing.
History really does repeat itself.

IRRESISTIBLE YOU
Chicago Rebels #1
Kate Meader
Releasing Aug 14, 2017
PocketStar
Hot in Chicago series author Kate Meader returns with her all new, scorching Chicago Rebels hockey series, featuring her signature “steamy sex scenes, colorful characters, and riveting dialogue” (Romantic Times).
Three estranged sisters inherit their late father’s failing hockey franchise
and are forced to confront a man’s world, their family’s demons, and the
battle-hardened ice warriors skating into their hearts.
Harper Chase has just become the most powerful woman in the NHL after the death
of her father Clifford Chase, maverick owner of the Chicago Rebels. But the
team is a hot mess—underfunded, overweight, and close to tapping out of the
league. Hell-bent on turning the luckless franchise around, Harper won’t let
anything stand in her way. Not her gender, not her sisters, and especially not
a veteran player with an attitude problem and a smoldering gaze designed to
melt her ice-compacted defenses.
Veteran center Remy “Jinx” DuPre is on the downside of a career that’s seen him
win big sponsorships, fans’ hearts, and more than a few notches on his stick.
Only one goal has eluded him: the Stanley Cup. Sure, he’s been labeled as the
unluckiest guy in the league, but with his recent streak of good play, he knows
this is his year. So why the hell is he being shunted off to a failing hockey
franchise run by a ball-buster in heels? And is she seriously expecting him to
lead her band of misfit losers to a coveted spot in the playoffs?
He’d have a better chance of leading Harper on a merry skate to his bed…

If you’ve read enough of my reviews, I love me a sports romance but I know absolutely nothing about hockey (and football if I’m honest) but this is another sports romance I LOVED!! This story sort of put me in mind of Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Chicago Stars series – if you haven’t read those, READ THEM!
Anyway, there’s a new female CEO/Owner of the sports team – in this case, she knows what she’s doing – but she’s having to put back together a less than stellar team. Her father’s General Manager didn’t do the team any favors and he’s allowed for a lackluster team. Anyway, she needs a great backbone of the team and she thinks she’s found that in Remy.
Remy does not want to be traded to a bad team like Chicago because that seems unlikely to his plans to win the Stanley Cup before he retires. And oh Remy, he’s stinking adorable! Definitely going to have to get this in audiobook just to hear his Cajun accent.
They’re both so super strong-willed and stubborn but they’re like gas and a match when they get together. I can’t wait for more of this series!!

Originally
from Ireland, USA Today bestselling author Kate Meader cut her
romance reader teeth on Maeve Binchy and Jilly Cooper novels, with some
Harlequins thrown in for variety. Give her tales about brooding mill owners,
oversexed equestrians, and men who can rock an apron or a fire hose, and she’s
there. Now based in Chicago, she writes sexy contemporary romance with alpha
heroes and strong heroines who can match their men quip for quip.
Being butler to a widower and single father is a dream job in more ways than one for Charlotte “Charlie” Emerson. She helps keep businessman Ethan Archer’s household running without a hitch and enjoys every minute she has with his six-year-old son, Wells. But as time passes, the situation feels alarmingly intimate and when her heart starts beating faster each time Ethan steps through the door, Charlie must exert rigid control over her feelings.
With her secret, falling in love would be all kinds of bad…
Ethan Archer values the woman who keeps his life in order and cares so much for his motherless boy. He and Charlie act in harmony with each other and it’s not hard to picture them as a little family…in fact, it’s so easy, one reckless night he proposes a marriage of convenience.
What will he do if Charlie says yes? And worse, what if she tells him no?
Whenever I hear/read/see the word Butler, I think of Mr Belvedere. Especially if said butler essentially runs the household. And Charlie definitely does. She watches over Wells, takes care of him and Ethan and their household. She’s insanely organized and such a planner that it makes me a little jealous.
Charlie loves being around for Wells and Ethan although she tells herself not to fall for them. This is a temporary gig and when Ethan finds out her secret, he won’t want her anywhere near them. But it’s so easy to be the mother figure and wife figure to both of them.
Ethan lost his wife to cancer years ago and hired Charlie to help him with Wells. Suddenly, he sees Charlie in a different light as just his butler and caretaker for his son. He proposes an arrangement, they marry so Wells will have a suitable guardian and they can act upon this attraction they have.
