Skye wants to believe that all men aren’t carbon copies her father, but when Ben’s past resurfaces she’s torn between running to protect her heart, or fighting for the only relationship she has ever invested in.
A great first read for this author for me! I loved the premise and I loved the story. Another book I’ve read that was a great story that didn’t feel novella length.
Skye doesn’t want anything to do with any cheating man after her father was a horrible cheater. She meets former manwhore Ben and is taken with her. Ben almost seems too good to be true. But then their pasts get into their currently relationship.
And that’s all I’m saying because I don’t want to ruin or spoil the story for anyone! But just read this sweet and quick read!

BLURB:
She only wanted one night
Being on the road all the time because of the family business makes for a lot of lonely nights. So when handsome, charming AJ Phelps finds me in the hotel bar, I’m ready for more than casual conversation. After an amazing night, my hope to continue a brief affair with the town charmer is derailed when I come face to face with him the following day. This time, he’s not just handsome, charming AJ. He’s all business…and the owner of the brewery my brother is dead set on ruining. All may be fair in love and war, but there’s nothing as cut throat as beer and business.
He wants it all
As an ex-pro baseball player turned business owner, I have it all. Or I thought I did until Kennedy Rochester crossed my path. A one night stand with a woman as hot, intelligent, and feisty as that? No brainer. At least not until the following morning when she steps into my brewery and tells me in no uncertain terms her family business is there to put me out of mine. I should loathe her for threatening my livelihood, but I don’t. I can’t. Not when all I think about when I look at her is our single, toe-curling night together. Not when I’d give nearly anything for just one more.

Another hot, sweet, quick read from these ladies! Even though it’s novella length, it felt like a whole novel with all the things that happen. Not that it’s overloaded, but just a lot happens between Kennedy and AJ from when they meet to the end of the story.
Kennedy is a busy career woman and isn’t looking for a relationship, just a hot one night stand. And she finds that with AJ. Too bad when she decides she wants to make that one night last for while she’s in town, she finds out that AJ is the reason she’s there: to help her brother put him out of business.
A quick read that felt novel-length as I said because so much happens throughout the story.

Why? Why does he have to magically appear in my life? Moving back to Binghamton, I thought about the possibility of maybe running into him, but I thought it unlikely, something that would never really happen.
Boy, was I wrong.
What a sick joke life is playing on me.
Aaron Walters, the boy who broke me into pieces is my neighbor.
I can’t fathom the impact I feel already.
Seeing him in hip-hugging jeans and a tight, plain shirt did a number on me. It kept me up all night as memories of what we used to have flooded my mind.
His voice.
His stature.
The way he used to kiss my neck.
The way I felt so protected in his arms.
Too bad his arms couldn’t protect me from his devastating, heart-breaking self.
And hell, he looked good. Too good.
He’s always been tall with handsome features and a chiseled jaw, but now he’s bulked up to the point that I could see his abs flexing under his shirt, the same shirt that stretched over his biceps.
But it wasn’t his muscles or handsome features that once again made my heart ache, it was those eyes. So bright, so blue, so kind, but still so sad. It reminded me of the first day I met him, of the day he stole my heart from every other man on the market.
Broken, unsure, yet yearning for love. It was all there, and like experiencing a moment of déjà vu, I was transported back into a time when I felt invisible, like I could conquer anything with him at my side.
Once again, I was wrong.

EXCERPT:
“Hey, Cora,” he said, his gravelly morning voice so damn sexy.
“Hey,” she said, tilting her head back to look him in the eye. She wondered if she should get off him, but didn’t really want to.
Not making any move to get up, Slider just looked down at her. “How you feeling?”
“A lot better,” she said, hyperaware that her hand was lying on his chest. His heartbeat faintly registered against her palm. “Still achy and a little off, but better.”
“Good. You should probably take it easy today, though. Whatever that was isn’t likely out of your system yet.”
She nodded. “I will.”
Talking like this, their faces so close, felt so damn intimate that Cora could almost imagine that nothing existed outside of Slider’s bed. She almost didn’t want it to. Especially when his arm squeezed a little tighter around her shoulders and brought them just a little closer. Cora shifted into his embrace, pressing her chest totally flush against his die, and sliding her thigh up until—
Oh, hell. Until she felt the part of him she’d accidentally seen. And it was hard.
He sucked in a breath, and his hand clamped around his thigh. “Shit, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—”
She placed her fingers loosely over his mouth. She didn’t want him to apologize. Or explain it away. Or push her away.
Cora knew she shouldn’t wan the things she did, but that didn’t make her desires go away. It felt good to want Slider, it made her feel normal, even if she was a little nervous. After what her father had done, that seemed like a victory she didn’t want to relinquish.
And, oh, now that she was touching his face, she really didn’t want to stop. His lips were full and soft under her fingers, his stubble was more ticklish than prickly, and his cheekbone was prominent under his skin.
He licked his lips, and her gaze latched on to the movement.
“Cora,” he rasped, his cock getting even harder against her thigh.
His arousal fueled her own, her hips tilting with the need for friction. The movement had her grinding herself against the firm muscle of his thigh and made both of them suck in a breath. His grip tightened on her everywhere. His arm holding her tighter yet to him, his hand pulling her thigh wider across him.
Her fingers returned to his mouth again, and traced across his lower lip. His tongue flicked out and swiped at her pointer finger, and Cora was instantly wet. Trembling with need and adrenaline and the fear that at any second, he would cut this off, Cora shifted ever so slowly, ever so slightly, bringing her face closer to his. He watched her like she was a tigress about to strike, but just as her mouth almost reached his, he flipped them and pinned her to the bed.
And Cora realized she had it all wrong. He’d been the feral animal about to attack all along.

One handywoman.

“I swear, messing with me is your new favorite hobby.”
“It is,” he admitted, eyes sparkling. “You’re so easy to mess with, I don’t even have to try.”
I rolled my eyes. “And to think—I let myself be guilt-tripped into this.”
“More fool you. I warned you about her, and you obviously didn’t listen.”
“That’s so not fair. I did listen, I just don’t have freaky skills to avoid the guilt like you do.”
“I don’t avoid the guilt. I pretend.”
“Would you have pretended if you were me, knowing you’d leave a poor guy to be lonely?”
He raised his eyebrows. “I wouldn’t have been lonely. I’d have watched TV with my pants off.”
“You don’t get to use my plans as an excuse,” I scoffed. “And unless your daughter is a master manipulator, you would have been lonely.”
“She’s four. All four-year-olds are master manipulators. If kids came with manuals, that would be the title of the chapter that talks about age four,” he said.
“There are technically manuals. They’re these wonderful, futuristic things called books.”
“None of which are geared toward a single dad,” he pointed out. “The last time I Googled something, I diagnosed Eli with a rare, deadly disease, learned that there are way too many styles of braid for any human being to master, and also found out how to get the kids out of the door by eight and have time to do my make-up.”
I paused. “I can see how that last one would be of use to you. Your mascara looks wonderful today.”

I’ve never met an Emma Hart main character I didn’t like! Kali is awesome with her tool belt and loving to mess with people who assume her father is the K in the business. Which is exactly what happens when Brantley Cooper (who more than once I called Bradley Cooper as I read) calls the company for someone to remodel his 4-year old twins bedrooms.
Which, CUTEST twins EVER!! Ellie and Eli are total show stealers. I almost looked forward more to their appearances in the story rather than Kali and Brant interacting. Because they’re so stinking cute! And their lisps are ADORABLE!!! I could totally picture a little kid saying the pearls of wisdom that came out of their mouths.
But Brantley is uber hot in his own right. He’s got the hot dad, smartass, thing going on. And he LOVES to tease Kali. Which makes this even more of a fun read!

By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies—usually wine—and writes books.
Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.
She likes to be busy—unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.
