After her mother’s unexpected death, Savannah “Ava” Smythe inherits three things: guardianship of her teenage sister, a house with an upside-down mortgage, and an illegal debt to a loan shark. Any thoughts of going to the police are dashed when the seedy loan shark threatens Savannah and her sister.
Karen Renee is the author of the Riot Motorcycle Club, Beta, and O-Town series of books. She once crunched Nielsen ratings data but these days she brings her imagination to life by writing books. She has wanted to be a writer since she was very young, but it’s taken the last twenty plus years for her to amass enough courage and overall life experience to bring that dream to life. Some of those life experiences came from the wonderful world of advertising, banking, and local television media research. She is a proud wife and mother, and a Jacksonville native. When she’s not at the soccer field or cooking, you can find her at her local library, the grocery store, in her car jamming out to some tunes, or hibernating while she writes and/or reads books.

Born in California, she met her now husband at the age of sixteen and married him at the age of twenty in 2004. After all of these years together, he’s still the love of her life.
Hayley’s husband joined the military and they lived in Oregon, where he was stationed with the US Coast Guard. They moved back to California in 2006, where they had two little boys. Recently, the four of them moved out to the Hill Country of Texas, where they adopted a new family member, a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.
Most of Hayley’s days are spent taking care of her two boys, going to the baseball fields for practice, or helping them with homework. Her evenings are spent with her husband and her nights—those are spent creating alpha book boyfriends.

Perfection is an elaborate lie to live. Fake smiles hide family secrets and personal troubles, all while the world looks on and cheers. After years of being the perfect daughter and family success, I’m done playing by society’s rules. A trip home has opened my eyes to what I really want in my life. Fate has other plans for me, though. No matter how I try, my father’s shadow is too far and wide to get out from under. Now the only place I’ve ever been able to be myself is in jeopardy, and I need to find a way to save it. Because if the MorningStar MC falls due to my actions, I’ll have nothing left.

“If you like your MC brothers with a dirty mind, a dirty mouth, and anything-goes attitude, then Hangman Untamed is just the book for you because believe me there is nothing tame about Hagman…” ~World of Books 65

If you are looking for a “safe” book, this is not for you. It’s dark and gritty and not your sweet MC romance.
Justine has moved into a neighborhood with her safe boyfriend, who is nothing like her. She’s pierced and tattooed, her boyfriend is a school teacher and the embodiment of what that means. When Justine sees Hangman, she’s very attracted to him, even though she doesn’t want to be. She doesn’t want the lifestyle.
Normally I am not someone who can handle cheating, but I was able to tolerate it in this story because once the couple gets together, there isn’t cheating – at least by Hangman and Justine.
This was a very different read than I am normally into. Not that it’s bad, it’s just different. If you’re expecting hearts and flowers, that’s not really what you’re getting here. You are getting dark and deep and full of MC aspects, from parties, cut bunnies, etc. Know that going in, and it shouldn’t surprise you.
5 stars!
