This book makes all the feels happen!  This book is just amazing.  It’s the good girl falling for the bad boy but it’s so much more than that.
Alexis had lost her sister in a car accident so rightfully so, she’s scared of cars and driving. But she takes a Driver’s Education class anyway.  She’s still heavily into grieving and just trying to make it through the day.  And then she meets Liam.
Liam is the “bad boy” but who brings the light back into Alexis’ life and helps her get through a very tough and trying time. He wants to stay away from Alexis but he just can’t do that.
This was such an amazing, heart-wrenching and joyful story.  It’s so easy to get wrapped up in Alexis’ grief, their relationship and just truly enjoying the story.
5 stars!

Taren needs a do-over. She’s decided the best way to put the high school bullies behind her is to pledge a Taylor-Swift-lip-syncing, beer-guzzling, sorority. Sisterhood helps Taren find the acceptance she’s always craved, but not the love she needs.

Alec and Taren have nothing in common, but fate is bound and determined to bring them together. They know falling in love is a risk, and yet it’s too hard to ignore. When their worlds clash and they both end up suffering, will they fight to stay together? Or are some pledges too hard to keep?

Series: Not Yet #2
Author: Laura Ward
Release Date: May 23, 2016
Focus.
Dean Goldsmith is Indiana University’s star quarterback, and his dreams are about to come true. His undefeated season means he has a legitimate shot at the NFL. If he stays focused. Football comes first.
College senior, Grace Yeates, is determined to defy the odds. She is months away from graduating with a business degree, something no one thought she would be able to pull off. All she has to do is focus on her number one priority. Family comes first.
Distraction.
Dean has no time for distractions, but when a gorgeous, snarky, redheaded waitress refuses to tell him her name, he can’t seem to focus on anything else.
Grace knows she can’t let herself get caught up in a guy, particularly a man-whore like Dean, no matter how charming or sexy. She has two hearts to look out for now and no room for a Dean-sized distraction.
Complications.
Everyone in Dean’s life agrees that Grace is the kind of complication his career doesn’t need.

Grace knows that Dean is the kind of risk her heart shouldn’t want.
But what if the last person you think you need, the one you shouldn’t want, becomes the one you can’t live without? Can their biggest distraction actually be the focus they were missing all along?
My heart hammered in my chest. “Why do you ask me my favorites all the time?”
Dean grinned and then bent to kiss my lips. “I’ve never wanted to get to know a girl. I want to know every part of you and every favorite you have. Everything that makes you happy so that I can be the person who never lets you down and always brings you your favorites.”
Oh my.
“Well, I want to know your favorites too. Let me think…” I tapped my finger on my chin. “Where’s your favorite place for me to kiss you?” As soon as the question escaped from my mouth, the meaning hit my brain. Dean had a wicked gleam in his eyes, and I hid my face in his chest. “Oh, Lord. Did I just ask that?”
His chuckle rumbled beneath me. “You did. And I love your dirty little mind, Red. If I’m being honest, I can’t answer that. Cause you haven’t kissed me everywhere… yet.”
Mortified. I was absolutely mortified. I had a choice. I could be shy and feel awkward, or I could own it.
Two seconds later I decided. I was owning it.
I raised my head and pressed a kiss on his chest. Then I lifted onto my elbows and shimmied a bit down his body.
“Let’s rectify that, shall we?”

I gently pressed her head back against my chest and ran my hands down her hair. “Grace, I’m not sure how to say this right, but I’m gonna try.” I kissed the top of her head, and her body relaxed against me. “I listened tonight to your pain, and your struggle, and your love. And what I needed to do was to take care of you and you alone. Nothing for me. Just for you. ’Cause, Red? Nobody’s done that for you in your whole life.”
She looked up at me, tears filling up those beautiful green eyes. She’d shed enough tears for a lifetime. The time had come for someone to have her back and to take care of her.
“Until now. Until me. I’m going to keep on taking care of you because nobody has ever deserved it more than you.”

Liam O’Connell is trouble. He isn’t proud of his dark past, and he

him, but this time, it just might be impossible.

The perfect girl and troubled boy are all wrong for each other, but as Liam helps

Alexis cope with her grief, they realize nothing has ever felt more right.

That is, until Alexis uncovers a secret about Liam that breaks her

heart.

Liam knows he can’t allow the one good thing in his life to walk away

without a fight, and he’s determined to convince Alexis they can find their way out of the

darkness together.

Can he prove he’s worthy of her, or is some love too tainted to be

saved?

He took a deep breath. “Our lives are completely different, Lex.” He

raised his hand in a loose fist, running the backs of his fingers along my jaw. My breath caught in my

chest as his thumb stroked over my skin in slow, gentle circles. “So different.” He stared

into my eyes, and I leaned forward, mirroring his posture. I placed my hand on his jaw. His chin was

rough with stubble and tight with worry.

“Help me understand.” My voice was needy, begging, but

that’s only because I was desperate to figure him out, to unlock the secrets he kept close. I

wanted to know how he could be the sweet, patient boy who taught me to drive and then beat the

living hell out of his friend a few days later. It didn’t add up for

me.

He reached up to grab my fingers that were still touching his cheek, and he

adjusted them so that he was holding my hand. “I didn’t grow up the way you did. The

only thing I could ever depend on were my fists. That’s how I protect myself and those I care

about. Yeah, Adam’s my boy, but he crossed a line. Said something he shouldn’t. And in

my world, when that happens, you teach a lesson. That lesson usually means

blood.”

I cringed at his bluntness and then felt guilty about it. He’d said our lives

were different, but that didn’t mean mine was better than his. I had no right to look down at

him. Too many people already did that. In my world, there were lessons and punishments too. They

were more calculated and less physical, but they were no less vicious. Like Melissa’s threat to get

her father to have Liam fired from the country club. When I thought about it, I wasn’t sure which

lesson was more cruel—fists or social war.

“What did Adam do to make you so mad? Was it because you wanted to

hang out with me instead of going to the levees?” God, I hope not.

That’d be the overreaction of the century.

Liam shook his head and traced patterns on my jaw with his thumb.

“It’s not important, angel. Just know that when you’re with me, you’re

safe. No one hurts you. No one touches you.” He leaned forward, letting his lips hover next to

mine. “If anyone tries to hurt you, I’ll make them pay. I mean

it.”

A chill skittered down my spine. The passion in his words was so strong that the

air around us was charged with unspoken promises. Why would Liam feel such a fierce need to protect

me? It frightened me that I enjoyed it so much. I swallowed. “Why did you call me

angel?”

He tilted his chin up and pressed his lips to my forehead and then trailed kisses

down my face, stopping to press his mouth to the corner of mine. He leaned back to let his eyes scan the

length of me, head to toe, as he grinned. “It’s hard not to think of you as an angel when

you’re dressed all in white and looking so goddamn perfect. You’re so…

good.” He shook his head with a sad smile. “I have no right to want you as much as I

do.”

His eyes darted to my lips, and then his mouth was on mine again, stealing the

words I wanted to say—I’m not perfect… I’m not good… I want

you too. He sucked on my lower lip, pulling it into his mouth with such gentleness I thought I

might melt into a puddle on his floorboards. How could so much rage be wrapped up in this much

tenderness?

My hands snaked around the back of Liam’s neck, and I moved to bring his

mouth back to mine, grazing the tip of my tongue against his. I could faintly taste the smoke of his

cigarette, but I could also taste the sugar of the funnel cake we’d shared. He was a heady mix of

danger and sweetness that was so uniquely Liam it made me crave more. I slid my tongue against his

again, and Liam’s groan was the only warning I got before his mouth was devouring mine,

demanding kisses from me that I was only too happy to return.

“You even taste good,” Liam murmured against my lips before

dropping his face to the curve of my neck where he nibbled along my skin, leaving goose bumps in his

wake. “I want to taste every single inch of you. I think I’m

addicted.”

His lips pressed against my pulse point, and I was sure he could feel the frantic

beating of my heart. My entire body felt like it was vibrating for him. I couldn’t decide what I

wanted more—for him to keep whispering his precious thoughts against my neck, or for him to

go back to worshipping my lips.

As if he knew my inner turmoil, Liam trailed a slow pathway of kisses up my neck

toward my greedy mouth.

“You look like an angel,” he said, whispering a kiss under my ear. His

quiet words trickled down my neck in a delicious shiver. “You act like an angel, too good to be

true.” He left a kiss on the side of my jaw before turning my face to his, his lips hovering over

mine with so much heat I thought he might burn me when he finally kissed me. “You’re

my angel, Lex. And I think you just might save me.”

But what if the last person you think you need, the one you shouldn’t want, becomes the one you can’t live without? Can their biggest distraction actually be the focus they were missing all along?
I stood up and moved behind him. The heat from his body warmed mine, even without touching. His smell was fresh and clean with only a hint of cologne. “Am I?” My voice was whisper soft, and he turned around; one step closer and our bodies would touch. I willed him to take that step. “A game to you? Is that what this is? You said it’s not pity or worry, so what is it?”
He took that step, his hand reaching to cup my jaw. My body tingled, charged with the nearness of him. “Attraction, Red. Not a game. Not pity. I don’t feel bad for you. You’re one of the toughest people I know. I want to know more. I want to be near you.”
I whimpered.
As soon as the noise escaped from my lips, I closed my eyes. Shut up, Grace. So much time had passed since I’d allowed a man to get close enough to truly want me. I nearly forgot the power behind that sentiment.
My knees weakened, and I trembled. His hand remained on my face, and when he felt me tremble, heard my whimper, registered that my eyes were closed— he reacted.
I didn’t see his lips come closer to mine, but I knew it was happening. Every other sense was magnified. I heard the sound of his breathing increase in speed. The smell of his cologne became intoxicating, and I felt the warmth of his chest as it pressed against me when he pulled me closer. Then his lips found mine, and he held them there, almost as if he was asking permission. My eyes fluttered open and I shifted, fisting his shirt in my hands, holding him to me.
I opened my mouth, and our tongues met, sliding together, exploring and tasting. I released his shirt and brought my hands up and around his neck. A moan erupted, and it took a few seconds before I realized it came from me. Dean groaned in answer, running his hands down my sides and along my back.
Neither of us would break the kiss. We moved, Dean pulling on my lower lip, biting gently. I ran my tongue along the edge of his lips, teasing and coaxing them back open. Then our mouths were fused together. The kiss became desperate. We communicated words we had never spoken to the other through that kiss. This was real. This was different. I knew enough from what I was feeling to be scared, but I was still not willing to stop. I held myself back from climbing his body, the ache inside me growing like a wildfire.
“Grace,” Dean pulled back, resting his forehead against mine as he gasped for air. “You feel that, right? It’s not just me?”
I laughed softly, kissing the corner of his mouth. “I feel it.”
He placed his hands on my hips, shifting me so he could look into my eyes. His blue eyes sparkled, and something inside me melted. “Let me get to know you. Let me in.”
He already was in he just didn’t know it. “Yes. I want to know you, too.”
His lips tilted up, and he kissed my lips softly. “Lock up behind me, Red.”
And he was gone. Out the door and into the night, but slowly making his way into my heart.
