I heard footsteps behind me and realized I’d failed to elude him.
“What are you doing?” Chase asked, his hands gripping the straps on his backpack.
“You know what I’m doing.”
He released one of his straps and slipped his hand into mine.
My eyes shot down to where his big hand was linked with mine. I clenched
my teeth. “Let go.”
He shook his head as I tried releasing my hand.
“So, it’s been you all along?” I said.
“What?”
“The one I need to be careful of.”
He scoffed, before leading me away from the elevator.
“What the hell are you doing?” I asked, trying to resist him but he was
too strong.
He said nothing.
My eyes shot around. There was no one around to help me if I screamed.
I’d seen enough movies to know you never go to a second location with your
kidnapper.
He moved us through the high shelves filled with old books until we were
in a deserted corner of the library.
My heartbeat thrashed as he backed me into a wall, my backpack softening
the hard wall behind me. His hands landed on the wall above me and he kept me
still with the weight of his body.
“You are the most infuriating girl I’ve ever met,” he said, his blue eyes
staring into mine.
As nervous as I felt, I wouldn’t let him see my fear. “Then let me go and
you never have to see me again.”
“Oh, I wish it were that simple.”
I swallowed around the lump that had shot to my throat.
“I can’t stop thinking about you, Soph.”
My eyes widened.
“And it’s driving me fucking crazy.”

I stumbled my way over to the curb and sat down. My head throbbed and my
stomach roiled, though I couldn’t imagine anything was left inside me. I pulled
a pack of wintergreen gum from my pocket and stuffed three pieces into my
mouth, contemplating my next move.
I could go back in and let Chantel know I was leaving, if she even
noticed I disappeared. I could try to
walk back to the dorm without face-planting somewhere along the way—if I could remember the way back. Or, I could call
an Uber in hopes that they knew where my dorm was.
“What the fuck are you doing?” a deep voice called, cutting through the
silent darkness.
My body stiffened.
Footsteps approached, and a tall guy with dark hair and light blue eyes
stood there, glaring down at me. “I said what are you doing?”
“No, you said what the fuck are
you doing.”
His eyes absorbed the details of my face with disdain. “You didn’t answer
my question.”
“What’s your problem? You scared your little party’s gonna get broken up
if someone sees me out here?” I gasped mockingly. “All that wasted beer and
unused condoms. The horror.”
His eyes narrowed. “Is that supposed to be funny?”
“Not any funnier than you out
here reprimanding me, frat boy.”
He dragged his hands through his hair as his head dropped back. “What the
fuck?”
I unsteadily pushed myself to my feet, praying to God I didn’t fall face
first in front of him. “No worries, frat boy. I was leaving anyway.”
He grabbed my arm, his grip tight as he stopped me from going anywhere.
“Don’t come back here.”
A wave of nausea washed over me. “Excuse me?”
He clenched his teeth. “You’re not an Alpha Phi which makes you unwelcome
here.”
A cold chill rushed up my spine, but I maintained my composure. “No
problem. Your party sucked anyway.” I turned and walked in the direction I
hoped my dorm was in, putting one foot in front of the other and trying to
appear steady. Because despite his harsh tone and rudeness, the bastard stood
on the curb, watching me until I disappeared into the darkness.

Trace I’m Alabama’s star wide receiver. I’ve got mad skills on and
off the field, and it’s no secret I’m heading into the draft after the upcoming
season. But I’m home for the summer to make some cash before my senior year.
Being back under my parents’ roof isn’t the ideal situation, but the moment I
see Marin, the star of my adolescent fantasies, I know it’s about to get
interesting. She may not have noticed me back then, but I’ve got a feeling it’s
just a matter of time before she lets me turn those fantasies into reality.

Marin

The last time I saw Trace Forester he was just a kid tearing
up the neighborhood on his skateboard. That was when I was foolish enough to
think I had the perfect husband and the perfect life. But now my life is in
shambles and Trace is back, all grown up, hot as hell, and exuding major
confidence. It would be so easy to fall for his good looks and undeniable
charm. So easy to let him into my life. Too bad I learned the hard way that
nothing worth having ever comes easy.

“You sleep with him yet?” Gayle asked.
“Oh my god. What is wrong with you?”
“Me? Have you seen the guy?”
Outside, Trace tossed the football gently so CJ had a slight
chance of actually catching it. He didn’t. It bounced off the grass in front of
him, but he ran after it, laughing as he did. “Yes, I’ve seen the teenager in
my backyard.”
“He’s not a teenager.”
“Yes, he is. I looked it up. He’s nineteen.”
There was a pause on her end, like she just realized I was a
sicko who’d actually looked him up. “Who cares? You’re single and he’s hot.
Have you seen him in his uniform? The guy could be a freakin’ underwear model.”
I laughed as I turned from the window and moved into the
living room. “No. At least not in person.” I’d seen pictures on the internet.
“Girl. When are you ever gonna have a hot piece of ass under
your roof again?” Gayle asked.
I scoffed. “You’re acting like he sees me as anything other
than a soon-to-be-divorced woman with a kid who needs a guy around.”
“Marin, you’re beautiful and fun. You deserve to get some
action.”
“You do realize you’re encouraging me to jump his bones,
right?”
“I never said jump his bones. Just wear something tight.
Bend over and let him see your hot ass. You’d barely have to do anything.”
“You’re insane.” I laughed. “And I could go to jail.”
“Why could you go to jail?” Trace asked from behind me.
I spun around, my eyes bugging out of my head and my heart
drumming in my chest. Trace stood in the doorway smirking at me, like he’d
heard my conversation.
Had he?

 TBRreview

Poor Finlay has lost her twin brother. She’s guilt-ridden over how she treated him prior to his unexpected death. She is lost in grief for 2 years until she picks herself up and tries to live her brother’s dream.
Caden is the all-American quarterback for the Alabama team. He’s good-looking, cocky and a gifted athlete. Finlay hates him on principle, or at least tries to. Caden is interested in Finlay and her sassy nature. And can’t walk away.
This was a great read and quite emotional. I was glued to the book from beginning to end. Definitely worth a re-read!

5 stars!

Excerpt

Caynan and I stepped outside into the unseasonably cool night, walking through the parking lot in silence. I pressed my key to disarm the alarm. My car beeped, its lights flashing and briefly lighting up the dark lot. I stepped up to my door and turned to face him. “Thanks again.”

“Stop thanking me.” His tone was cold and clipped as he handed me my backpack.

“Sorry. I just meant—”

He stepped into me, forcing my back against the door. He grabbed my cheeks between his hands and stared down at me. “I want to kiss you so fucking bad right now.”

My heart slammed against my chest as my voice came out a mere whisper. “Then do it.”

His eyes didn’t waver from mine. “This isn’t a date. I said I wouldn’t kiss you if it wasn’t a date.”

I dropped my backpack to my feet, the thud carrying through the silent lot. “I don’t care.”

He closed his eyes and dropped his forehead to mine. “Part of me wants to prolong this. Make you crazy for me.” His eyes opened and he looked me dead in the eyes. “But the other part wants to taste what I’ve been thinking about doing since the moment I met you.”

I couldn’t stop my hands from drifting up the front of his shirt, over the solid muscles in his abs and chest. I’d never felt anything so freaking amazing in my life.

He didn’t seem to mind my exploration because he groaned deep in his throat. His breath, a mixture of soda and mint, floated between us. “Go out with me,” he said.

“I’m out with you right now.”

“A date. Then you better believe I’ll kiss you at the end of the night.”

“Maybe I don’t want to wait until the end of the night,” I challenged. What the hell was I saying? It was as if I was in a trance. A Caynan-induced trance. And my words were not my own. My body was not my own. My thoughts were not my own.

His lips twitched. “Is that a yes?”

I paused, trying to maintain every last shred of dignity I possessed. But I knew with every fiber of my being that Caynan Abbott would ruin me for all others. And when he finally kissed me, not only would it be explosive, but it would be something no one else would ever live up to.I was so screwed.

 TBRreview
I personally love YA stories where the female lead doesn’t immediately fall all over the super hot and popular male lead.  Caynan is definitely the uber popular, super hot, male who has all the girls falling all over him. Except Hadley.  And that grabs Caynan’s attention more than any girl.
Hadley is anything but charmed by Caynan.  At least by his charming act.  She does fall for Caynan’s true persona. They each see each other for what they truly are and love the other because of their true selves.
