The patio door opens behind me, alerting me to Bree’s presence. “Bree’s here. I gotta go,” I tell him. “Watch your back,” he warns, not hiding the worry in his voice. “You, too.” I hang up and turn around to find Bree rubbing the back of her neck with a resigned look on her face. “She’s on her way, isn’t she?” I ask. She winces and nods. “Please tell me Colt’s with her.” I like Colt, and it’s obvious he cares for both women. Plus, he can handle himself and is one hell of a shot. “No. Colt’s not with her. But she’s not alone.” “You need to call her back and tell her to turn around.
