Gian is a capo in the Trassato crime family. He’s a cold, calculating man who takes care of business. For the most part, until he meets Evie.

Evie is a friend of his sister’s who is down on her luck and really needs a job. So Gian’s sister pleads for him to give her a job. Evie ends up seeing something she shouldn’t have in Gian’s office and rather than “offing” her, Gian claims her. As long as she’s claimed, she’s safe from repercussions of what she saw.

So many twists and turns and it’s such a great read.

This story sets a great tone to the family and how they are. I can’t wait for Carmela’s story!

“Don’t do this,” she whispers, shaking her head.

“Do what?” I ask, my voice just as soft.

“This.”

Her hands are braced against my chest, and I’m acutely aware of every single one of her fingers. I want to tighten my arms around her. And you’re here to oversee my work, which makes you practically my boss—which makes this inappropriate.” She takes another deep breath and rushes on. “You’re also my patient—and you’ve had a head injury, which means you should be lying down.”

“Well, if you’d prefer to go back to the gurney—”

“You need to refrain from all activity. Anything that increases your heart rate is absolutely out of the question.”

I smile, though she can’t see it. “I’m afraid it’s too late for that.”

This book makes all the feels happen! This book is just amazing. It’s the good girl falling for the bad boy but it’s so much more than that.

Alexis had lost her sister in a car accident so rightfully so, she’s scared of cars and driving. But she takes a Driver’s Education class anyway. She’s still heavily into grieving and just trying to make it through the day. And then she meets Liam.

Liam is the “bad boy” but who brings the light back into Alexis’ life and helps her get through a very tough and trying time. He wants to stay away from Alexis but he just can’t do that.

This was such an amazing, heart-wrenching and joyful story. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in Alexis’ grief, their relationship and just truly enjoying the story.

I have not read a Tessa Bailey book before so this was an AMAZING first read.

Henrik is a cop who has been moved to a less than ideal undercover unit – for something he did but I won’t tell you what – you have to read and find out. He ends up being assigned to get Chicago’s notorious mob boss’ daughter as an informant. Ailish wants Henrik but she also wants to protect him too.

I love their names, I love these scenes and scenarios! I will definitely be adding the remainder of this series to the TBR.
