You must read the other books in the series!  They’re both quick reads, so it shouldn’t take long. If you haven’t read them, go back and do that otherwise this review means nothing to you.  And if you have, I’m not giving away anything so you have to read the 3rd book 😉

Caleb and Emma are finally living their lives as newlyweds, soon to be parents and still very much in love with each other.  Caleb is very busy with the Brazil building and trying to keep Emma from doing too much and Emma is still super busy with all she’s doing, plus being pregnant.

One heck of a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for book 4!  I NEED to know what happens.  And if you’ve read the book, you know what I’m talking about!

5 stars!

Veteran running back Jude Owens is one of the best and most respected players in the league. A brutal concussion nearly ended his career, but Jude refuses to retire without earning the ultimate honor—a championship.

But first, he needs me to clear him to play. As the Ironfield Rivets’ neurologist, I usually treat bad boy quarterbacks and beastly linebackers. I can’t be impartial when my lifelong crush hops onto the exam table. Not only is Jude gorgeous and a gentleman, he’s my brother’s best friend…and the father of my unborn baby.

Or so everyone thinks.

Jude offers to pose as my boyfriend and the baby’s father to save my reputation. In return, he needs my help to stay on the field. The pretend romance keeps me close enough to take care of him, but I can’t protect my heart. Our stolen kisses and nightly indiscretions have transformed this fakerelationship into something so very real.

I can’t complicate our arrangement by falling in love, especially as Jude’s obsession with football blinds him to everything but the game. When his symptoms worsen, the only way I can protect him may be to sit him on the sidelines. But ending his career will ruin our Once Upon A Time.

It’s up to me to save my prince charming…

Even if it means I lose my happily-ever-after.

Haunted by the King of Death (Eternal Mates Romance Series Book 11)

Felicity Heaton

A ruthless vampire warrior, Grave Van der Garde rules the mercenary Preux Chevaliers with an iron fist, determined to retain his hard-won position as one of the most powerful men in Hell and his reputation as the heartless King of Death. But beneath the cold façade beats the heart of a vampire torn between love and hate, ripped in two directions by a single ethereally beautiful female—his fated phantom mate.

Driven by her phantom instincts, Isla used a spell to make her solid in order to deceive the vampire who killed her sister’s demon mate and have revenge on him, condemning him with a single kiss to become a phantom too. But her plan took an unexpected turn when she fell in love with him, and with her new life, and the night she betrayed him shattered both of their hearts. Now, he lives to make her suffer through their connection, one that is fading with them as they begin to slip into the phantom world, and she must face the monster she created if she is to save herself and the vampire she still loves.

With a demon from Grave’s past determined to destroy him and everything he holds dear, and the clock ticking down to their inevitable doom, can he and Isla overcome their past and their pride to work together to claim the future they both desire deep in their hearts? Or will death finally catch up with the vampire king and his phantom mate?

Haunted by the King of Death – Excerpt

Grave stood at a window in the huge library on the top floor of the palace, staring down into the courtyard, watching the slender female as she appeared from the building and stormed across the sandstone flags.

Her steps slowed as she neared the fountain and she looked back at the palace, an expression on her face that called to him.

There had been hope in her stunning blue eyes when she had spoken with him, but now there was nothing but despair and pain, and he enjoyed it, but gods, he hated it at the same time.

He cursed her in his mind and tried to tear his eyes away from her, tried to force himself to turn his back on the window and stop watching her, but he couldn’t stop looking at her and couldn’t walk away.

He had barely kept his cool and refrained from standing as she had swept into his grand hall, had barely leashed the hot bolt of lust that had burned through him on seeing her again.

She was as beautiful as he remembered.

Even with their apparently joint problem diminishing her slightly, she was still radiant. Ethereal. Breathtaking.

Dangerous to him because of it.

He had thought he was over her, that during their time apart the things she had done had destroyed any and all feelings he’d had for her, leaving his heart free of her. Leaving him cold and immune to her.

He had thought wrong.

One single glimpse of her. One single breath of her sweet scent. One single word falling from her lips.

It was all it had taken to pull him back under her spell.

He despised her for that, and hated himself too.

He turned on a snarl as she disappeared from view beyond the main gate of the fortress and began pacing along the bank of windows. Fury rolled through him with each hard step, anger at her for daring to walk back into his life and at himself for turning her away, and being foolish enough to hope she might fight harder, might have come back when she had stopped at the fountain rather than walking away.

Gods, had he really wanted her to come back?

He squeezed his eyes shut, growled through his clenched teeth and shook his head. No. He hadn’t. He really hadn’t.

A quiet voice whispered that he had.

Grave crushed it out of existence.

He paced harder, trying to work off some steam and purge her from his life again.

But her scent lingered in his lungs, her beauty still branded on his mind.

He grabbed the nearest wooden chair and roared as he sent it flying across the library. It smashed into the bookcase lining the far wall, shattering into pieces and knocking several books to the floor with it.

Grave grabbed another, and then another, and when chairs weren’t enough to satisfy the need to destroy everything because he couldn’t destroy what he really wanted—his feelings for Isla—he tipped one of the ebony desks over and unleashed his fury on it, attacking it with claws, fists and booted feet until it was little more than a scattered pile of tinder on the wooden floor.

His chest heaved as he breathed hard, head bent and heart pounding, anger still thundering in his blood.

He stilled when someone halted outside the double doors of the library.

Waited.

Asher wisely moved on, and Grave waited for him to pass beyond the sphere of his acute senses before he staggered backwards to the window and slumped onto the seat there, the back of his head smacking against the glass panes. He grimaced as his healing right shoulder ached under the pressure of his weight and shifted into a more comfortable position.

He stared at the destruction he had wrought, feeling nothing, not a single care about what he had done.

Not when his heart still beat for Isla.

He had thought he was free of her. He had thought he was stronger and able to see her without her affecting him, without feeling anything for her. He had thought that whatever he had once held in his heart had died when she had shattered that organ, but the sight of her had robbed him of his breath and her scent had made him hard as steel in his trousers, aching for her.

He was never going to be free of her, not so long as they were bound.

She would always affect him, no matter how much he hated it.

Grave tipped his head back, pressing it into the glass, and closed his eyes, breathing out a deep sigh as resignation filled him.

“Damn her,” he muttered, raised both hands and ran them over his dark hair, clawing it back.

He couldn’t think about her right now, not when he had more important things on his mind, things he had almost foolishly revealed to her with his careless words. He had caught the look in her eyes, the intense curiosity.

He lowered his right hand to his chest and rubbed his thumb across the pendant around his neck.

Just as he had witnessed the spark of hope she had felt on seeing he still owned the trinket she had given him.

And he had done all in his power to crush that hope.

Grave looked down at the intricate knot, recalling what he had said to her—he wore it as a reminder of what she had done to him in case he was ever foolish enough to forget it and relinquish his mission to make her suffer.

The reality was so much worse than that.

He couldn’t bring himself to part with it.

Gods, he had tried.

He had cast it into a valley in the Sixth Realm once and turned his back on it, only to end up scouring the black lands for it, desperate to find it again and have it back in his possession. It had taken him five days of searching, five days without sleep or blood.

When he had finally found it, he had experienced such a powerful surge of relief that his knees had given out and he had sat in the middle of the valley, clutching it tightly in his fist, close to tears.

He curled his lip.

There might have been one or two tears.

The metal warmed as he traced the knot, following the lines of it, the weight of it soothing in his fingers.

He hadn’t taken it off since that day.

He should have known from that alone that seeing Isla again had been a bad idea, that he wasn’t over her at all. If he didn’t have the strength to part with a stupid trinket, how the hell had he expected to have the strength to see her and feel nothing?

Imbecile.

He huffed and released the pendant.

Was it possible she had spoken the truth though? She was fading too, and rather than becoming phantoms, they were dancing with death?

A few days ago, he would have leaped at the chance to hear what she had to say, to bleed her for any information she had that might help him or even use her just to save himself, but now all he could think about was the pressing need he felt to save someone else.

The mark between his shoulder blades warmed and this time he didn’t close the connection to her, but he did hold things back from her, only allowing her to feel his negative emotions, the anger and frustration he felt.

Not anger and frustration born of her and her visit.

These emotions were born of the demon prince and his threat.

Grave turned his head to his left, looked into the courtyard below and then beyond it to the wall and the grand gate, and the dark stone buildings of the town outside. Was she still out there or had she already moved on, using one of the portals to teleport somewhere else in Hell?

The part of him that refused to give up and die, the piece that clung to his feelings for her, hoped she found the solution she was looking for and managed to save herself.

He ignored it, pretending it hadn’t said a damn thing, but it was impossible when the same voice whispered poisonous words in his heart, words that rekindled fear in his veins and had him coming to his feet.

The demon prince wanted her as his prize.

And wanted his entire family dead.

A family that wished the same thing for him, but one he was bound to in blood, obliged to warn despite their feelings for him.

He turned towards the window and studied the darkening horizon with a growing sense of dread. He had given himself a day to recuperate, a day in which he had locked himself in this library with three of his men and uncovered the record of the attack on the demon castle in the archives, arming himself with all the information he could muster because he knew he would need it if he was going to convince some members of his family to listen to him.

Now, he couldn’t delay any longer.

He focused on the mark on his back, felt it warm against his skin and start to tingle, and pictured Isla standing before him as she had in his grand hall.

Beautiful, enchanting Isla.

She had spoken about him getting what he deserved, and he wasn’t sure what she had meant by that, but there was a chance it was about to happen, and he couldn’t dispute that he probably did deserve it after what he had done to this person.

The one he intended to warn first.

Would she feel it when his eldest cousin, Snow, killed him in a fit of bloodlust?

Excerpt

Chapter 1

Georgia Burke slipped a hand down her hip, smoothing her favorite skirt in place as the summer breeze whipped across the lake. The last thing she needed was to flash the Drunken Duck patrons on the patio a look at her girly bits. Granted, they were covered in her sexiest pair of cream lace panties, and she was here to pick up a hot man to do the dirty with, but her newfound brazen spirit only went so far.

If she was lucky it would actually survive until she ordered a drink at the bar.

Georgia’s confidence crumbled as she made her way to the front entrance of the pub and a group of guys on the patio started laughing. Two pointed at her and the third whipped his head around to see her. They all had classically good looks, short hair and lean muscles behind fitted t-shirts. Young. They snickered at her expense again, but she squared her shoulders and moved into the interior of the pub.

Fuck them and their frat boy mentality.

Women came in all shapes and sizes, and if they expected every female to fit their version of sexy, they were going to be sorely mistaken when they got out in the real world.

Georgia put a little extra swing into her walk as she gathered her confidence again. She had great tits and a curvy build with no shame in showing off. It might’ve taken years to find that confidence, only to have it knocked back by her last boyfriend, but she wasn’t letting any man dictate how she felt about herself ever again.

Fuck that and fuck them.

And with that final thought, she took her size sixteen ass straight to the mahogany bar and ordered a very nice local craft beer on tap. The little pixie behind the bar served it up without fuss and started Georgia a tab.

While she was sipping at her beer and scoping out the crowd, a body bumped into her right arm. The beer splashed down the front of her fitted, white shirt, highlighting the lace bra underneath for anyone to see. After setting her half empty beer down, Georgia turned to face the guy who had yet to apologize or acknowledge he was most definitely in her personal space. It might be a Friday night on the lake, but it was still relatively early and the place wasn’t busting at the seams yet.

It was one of the college boys from the patio. He had a self-satisfied smirk on his face, staring down Georgia’s top but never really looking at her face.

“Nice rack for a fat chick.”

Before she could speak up, the petite bartender scooped up her glass and handed over a stack of bar napkins. “Apologize to the lady.”

“It was an accident.”

The bartender, all five feet nothing of her, leveled the kid across from her with a glare that could melt the skin off his face and said, “Acting like a dick in my bar will get your ass kicked out. Now apologize.”

“Babe, this isn’t even your bar. And I’m a paying customer. No one’s kicking me out.”

Georgia raised a lone eyebrow at the kid’s audacity, but the bartender across from her just threw her head back and laughed. And laughed some more.

When she dropped her head back down there wasn’t any lingering humor on her face. She was all business and looked a little bit deadly.

“That mountain standing behind you,” she lifted a finger to point at a very severe, and very large, man that appeared behind the frat boy, “is my husband.”

“Molly?”

Georgia did a double take when the massive man slapped a hand down on the kid’s shoulder. He was tall, well over six feet, built like a brick house, and completely bald. Dead sexy as well. But that was all secondary to how quickly the frat boy paled when he turned to face Molly’s husband.

“Cal, be a doll and show this dick and his friends off the property.”

The kid sputtered as Cal led him away with a firm grip without another word.

Georgia turned around and faced Molly behind the bar. “Thanks, but you didn’t have to kick anyone out because of me.”

Molly frowned. “Honey, those fucking clowns needed to go. They’re predators and it was just a matter of time before Cal throat punched them. It was my pleasure.”

Even though she smiled, Georgia didn’t know what to say in response to that, so she just started to mop up her wet shirt.

“You vacationing here? Haven’t seen you around before.”

“My brother lives here and I’m house sitting while he’s road tripping with my nephew. I just got in this afternoon.”

“You’re Dane Burke’s kid sister? Georgia, right?”

Georgia’s head snapped up. “You know Dane?”

Molly shrugged. “Small town. He’s neighbors with a good friend of mine. Nice guy. Great kid.”

“Yeah, they’re both pretty great.”

“Welcome to Fox Lake.” She paused, placing a fresh beer down. “Your neighbor in the bungalow is Emma Rae, and her man is Gabe. You let any of us know if you need something while you’re here.”

Georgia nodded, then sat back and took in the petite woman. Small town hospitality at its finest. She might actually like it here. “I appreciate that. I’m a little out of my element right now.”

Molly leaned forward and rested her arms on the bar before speaking. “Stop back in through the week sometime. It’s typically quieter, and I’ll buy you a drink. We’re going to be friends, chick.”

Georgia let a slow smile spread across her face. “I’d like that, Molly.”

“Good. I’ll be back to check on you in a bit. Crowds going to be picking up soon.” She slapped a hand down on the bar before walking away.

Georgia scanned the area again. It looked like everyone was paired off or in groups. So much for her grand plan to score a hot guy for some dirty sex. It was probably a dumb idea anyway. Just because you found your jerk boyfriend sticking it in your friend, in your bed, and in your apartment, doesn’t mean snapping up a random dude at a bar was a good idea.

But it definitely sounded like fun.

TBRreview
This was a quick, sweet read. I just love Georgia! Here she is trying to get her groove back and get her a 1-night stand and the guy she picks us the forever guy who is enamored with her as soon as he sees her. A great start to a new series I’ll be keeping an eye on!

No take-backs.

That was the motto that Drew lived by in all things, including his love life.

He’s a player, pure and simple.

He’s learned the hard way that women aren’t all hearts and flowers. Sometimes their sexy bodies and beautiful faces are just a pretty shield to hide the crazy, and he’s so freakin’ over crazy.

Been there, done that. He has the divorce papers to prove it.

Karma hits like a bitch.

Aspen needs a break. A long one that doesn’t include anything with a Y chromosome. Not even one as tempting as her new neighbor who just moved in across the street. Men are trouble with a capital freakin’ T, and she has the ankle monitor to prove it.

The last man she gave her heart to was a police officer. A man whose life was dedicated to protection, and he was supposed to protect her heart—not break it.

She decides right then and there that she’s done with being the better person.

Everything happens for a reason.

A rash decision—undoubtedly regrettable, undeniably unforgettable. In the heat of the moment, Aspen’s actions with a tire iron and her ex-boyfriend’s brand new SUV land him in the ER getting stitches and have her seeing the inside of a jail cell for the first time.

It’s just her luck that the whole town is there to witness the result of her poor decision, including her police officer brother and the neighbor that already made it more than clear she was more trouble than she was worth.

House arrest never looked so good.

Hide your crazy.

Drew enjoyed the show, though. For the first time in a year, he’s thinking about his life, and how it would be a lot more enjoyable with a woman like Aspen at his side.

Maybe crazy isn’t so bad after all.

I slammed my fingers down on the keyboard, insanely annoyed that I now had to tell how fun the product was, despite the fact that the person I’d had the fun with was a douche bag.

A knock sounded at my door and I turned to glare at it.

“Who is it?” I yelled.

“You know damn well who it is. It’s the same person that’s been knocking at your door for the last twelve hours,” Drew growled.

I shrugged.

“Go away,” I ordered him.

I could hear him sigh through the door.

“In my eyes, the marriage Constance and I had was over,” he started.

I picked up the nearest thing to me, which happened to be a half finished water bottle, and then launched it at the door.

“Go away!”

He left, but not without one last parting comment.

“I still have a few things left in that box that I want to try on you. When you’re ready, let me know.”

I glared at the box he’d just spoken about, and went back to my review.
If you’re looking for a fun, awesome thing to do with your significant other, this is the thing for you. It offers many benefits; but most importantly, it gives you time with your significant other. And, might I add, it’s totally fucking worth it. I’ve used it three times in the last two days. It’s like he’s here.

On a side note, the vibrator is not very proficient. It offers about two hours of battery life before they need replaced.

Not that I used it for two hours or anything.

Oh, who am I kidding?

I would’ve used it longer if I hadn’t run out of batteries.

review
I love the guys and dolls of Kilgore Fire! They’re so fun and a great extended family. And Aspen is so funny. Her situation stinks but she tries to make the best of it and try to entertain herself while under house arrest.

Drew was just so into Aspen, almost from the beginning. He was helping her with the things she couldn’t do because of her limitations and Drew took it upon himself to help her or guilt her brother into helping her when Drew couldn’t.

I’m wondering whose stories is next. And if PD will ever see Naomi or if he’ll be blind only to whomever broke his heart.

5 stars!

I’m a married mother of three. My kids are all under 5, so I can assure you that they are a handful. I’ve been with my paramedic husband now for ten years, and we’ve produced three offspring that are nothing like us. I live in the greatest state in the world, Texas.

By the time I reached the front door of the cottage, I could already smell dinner. Onions, garlic, bacon. “Ben?” “Kitchen,” he called. “My afternoon splenectomy got canceled.” I frowned. The patient, a nine-year-old schnauzer mix named Gordon Lightfoot, had been diagnosed with cancer of the spleen just a few days before. “Why?” “They decided they wanted to put him down instead,” Ben said as I joined him in our kitchen. He handed me a glass of merlot. “They took him home and are spending the weekend with him. He’ll come back on Monday.” My throat got tight at the news, but Ben looked unruffled. He’d had longer to process the decision. “You could have saved him.” He nodded. “But it would have been expensive. They said they couldn’t afford it.” “Couldn’t you have . . .” I took a quick sip of my wine. I’d been about to suggest he offer to do it for free, or for a much lower fee, something he used to do all the time. But we were still repaying the debt he’d racked up with his addiction to Ekstazo pleasure magic . . . and to other types of magic as well. He used Knedas juice on you, didn’t he? Asa whispered in my memories. I squeezed my eyes shut. “That’s too bad. Are you okay?” “Just part of the job.” His fingers caressed my cheek. “You look tired, babe.” I let out a weary chuckle and set my wine glass on the counter. “Isn’t that a socially acceptable way of telling someone she looks terrible?” He took my face in his large, warm hands. “You look as beautiful to me as you ever have, Mattie.” Liar, I thought. But I stayed quiet. He kissed my forehead. “I came home early to cook dinner for you. Bucatini with bacon, tomato, and onions. Something hearty to put some meat back on your bones.” I pulled away from him. “My mom called you, didn’t she?” “Am I not allowed to talk to my future mother-in-law? She wanted to make sure you had a nice, relaxing evening. Said you’d had a busy day filled with hair and dresses and tricky flower arrangements.” That would be what my mom told him. No matter how bad things were, she’d embroider the edges of the truth with a pretty silver lining. It was like she believed that naming a bad thing gave it power, but if we just talked around it, maybe it would simply go away. “Yeah. Who knew wedding planning was so exhausting?” Hey, I’d learned from the best. Ben ushered me onto the screened porch, where we could see the emerald buds dotting the branches of the trees that lined our yard, the daffodils poking their little green heads through the soil in the flower beds. We ate our dinner in near silence, him gobbling down pasta while I picked at my food. It smelled good, but I already felt full, like my stomach had been stuffed with something huge and brittle and too much weight would cause it to splinter. After we were finished, we did the dishes together. Ben’s hands snaked around my waist as I dried my hands with a towel. He bowed his face into my hair. “You didn’t believe me when I told you that you were beautiful to me.” I folded the towel over the edge of the dish rack. “I never said that.” “You don’t think I know you well enough to tell? Come on, Mattie.” His fingers spread, stroking across my ribs. I fought the urge to pull away, knowing he could probably feel each one. “I never said that, either.” A breath of laughter warmed the top of my head. “Because you don’t say much of anything these days.” “I’m stressed out. It’s no big deal, just a lot of details to manage.” “Then let me help. I’ll take time off—” “You can’t, and you know that.” He sighed. “I know.” He was determined to pay off the debt to the contractor who’d renovated the vet clinic, and he wanted to get it done before the wedding. “But I want to do something for you.” He tilted his head and kissed the side of my neck. “I love you so much, and I just want to make you happy.” His hand slid around to my stomach and began to dip into my pants. I grabbed his wrist. “Not tonight, okay? I’ve had a really long day.” His hand stilled, but he continued to nuzzle the side of my throat. “I’d be happy to relax you.” I closed my eyes and tried to summon my desire, but all I could find was a wary exhaustion. “You’re so sweet, Ben, but I’m just not up to it.” “I’ll do all the work—I promise.” While I lay like a rag doll beneath him? The idea—just another reminder of how much I’d changed—made my stomach turn. “No.” His tongue slipped along my skin. “Come on. It’s been months . . .” I leaned away from him. “It hasn’t been that long.” He pulled me against him, letting me feel his arousal. “It’s been twelve weeks and three days.” “You’ve been counting?” I ducked under his arm and took a few steps back, crossing my arms over my chest. He ran his hands through his light-brown hair, shot through with golden strands. “Can you blame me? I’m dying here, Mattie.” “You’re dying? Way to make me feel guilty.” He let out a long breath. “I only meant that I want you. I miss you. I love you, and I want to be close to you. Can you blame me for that?” “No,” I said quietly. “I love you, too. But I haven’t felt like myself lately, okay? Just give me a little time to pull myself together. I’m getting there. And you deserve the best of me.” “I deserve all of you!” He moved toward me, his arms out as if to enfold me, but I put my hands up to keep him back. He stopped and his expression hardened. “Goddammit, Mattie, what the hell is wrong with you? It’s like you want to be sick. Like you’re using it to keep me at a distance. Why don’t you just admit it?” “Because it’s not true! I’m trying to get better.” “Oh, really?” His honey-brown eyes flared, and he walked over and opened the cabinet above the coffeemaker. He reached in and took out a pill bottle. “I counted these. You haven’t taken a single one in the last two weeks.” “Because they don’t help. The attacks still come. And they make my thoughts all fuzzy.” He slammed the bottle onto the counter. “Don’t tell me you’re trying to get better if you’re not even willing to follow your doctor’s advice.” He grimaced. “Especially after what we’ve spent on copays and prescriptions over the last nine months.” When he saw my stunned look, his shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry. That came out all wrong.” “Or maybe you said exactly what you meant.” “I’m just tired. Maybe we can talk about this tomorrow when my head’s on straight.” He turned and trudged toward our room, but paused and looked back before he entered. “I’m going to get make it an early night. Join me?” “I’ll be there soon.” His jaw clenched, but he nodded and disappeared into the room, leaving me standing in the kitchen. I carried the pills into the living room and sank into the couch, cradling the gently rattling bottle to my chest. The eerily familiar noise was like a fuse sparking to life, burning down until it triggered the explosion of memories. Pockets full of magic disguised as the most mundane things—floss, baby oil, Pez. They rattled when he walked, when he ran, when his legs flopped to the bed the one time he was too sick to take care of himself and let me do it for him. Come with me, Mattie. We’re a good team. We can figure this out. Together. I hadn’t asked him just what he wanted to figure out. How to get away from Frank Brindle, the boss of the West Coast? How to get Ben free without giving up our freedom in return? Or how to figure out the tangled, messed-up, inevitably doomed thing the two of us were together? “You know very well what I meant, Mattie,” Asa whispered. My eyes flew open, and there he was, sitting on the rug, a lean arm slung around his bent knee, looking relaxed even though he’d apparently just broken into my house. “I don’t have any idea,” I replied. “And how did you get in here?” “You let me in.” He rolled his eyes. “How is it that you can deal with a shitload of ancient Strikon pain magic inside your chest but not be able to deal with your own heart?” “You helped me with the magic. This is different.” He crawled toward me, predatory and smooth in the darkened room. My heart lurched as he came closer, but I was like prey, paralyzed by the look in his eyes. He stopped only when his face was an inch from mine. “No, Mattie. It’s exactly the same.” His mouth descended on mine, and a flash of relief lit me up. But the moment our lips touched, the pain stabbed straight through my chest, from my breastbone to my spine and everywhere in between. I gasped, jerking up, my eyes flying open, air squeaking from my throat in hitching breaths. I was alone in the room, alone with myself, alone with so much hurtful truth that I couldn’t contain it all. I doubled over, desperate to stay quiet so Ben wouldn’t hear. But it was all I could do not to scream as the agony radiated down my spine and up my neck, threading searing pain across my breasts. I clamped my hand over my mouth and drew my knees to my chest as a dark knowledge shifted and turned inside me, cutting my insides with its jagged edges, forcing me to look, as much as I wanted to go on pretending it didn’t exist. I hadn’t let go of Asa. Somehow, he’d stayed with me, haunting me. Because I’d let him. Because a part of me missed him, wondered where he was and what he was doing, wondered if he ever thought of me, wondered if the life he’d offered was something I should have explored. And it was ruining me, body and soul. I managed to sit up. Fumbling, I unscrewed the cap of the pill bottle and let two pale blue ovals fall onto my palm. I tossed them into my mouth and swallowed, then winced as they slowly slid down my dry throat. “I made my choice,” I whispered. Yes, it had been tempting. And yes, so was Asa himself. Painfully so. But I was never meant for a life like that or for a man like him, both endlessly complicated in ways I’d only just begun to understand. And if I didn’t move on, I was going to lose the life I had. “I’m not going to let that happen.” I pushed myself off of the couch and headed for the bedroom.

ROMANIAN MOB CHRONICLES BOX SET BOOKS 1-3

When a mobster decides he wants you, you’d better be ready…

For his rough demands.

His dark passion.

And possessiveness that accepts no compromise…

KEEP

HER:

I thought the only thing I feared was living another day in the hell my life had become. But when I looked at his hulking, tattooed body, the icy brutality in his eyes, I realized I was wrong.

HIM:

Familie. My clan.

I’d fight for it, kill for it, die for it. It’s all that matters to me. But her innocence, only barely hidden by thick layers of makeup, the curves that her tight dress can’t hide, calls to me.

So I’ve decided to keep her.

No matter how deadly the consequences.

FALL

HER:

When my best friend fell in love with a mobster, I thought she’d lost her mind. Until I met his brother…

HIM:

Love is a lie, a fairy tale.

In my world, all that matters is staying alive, protecting my clan. There’s no room for normal people. No room for people like her. Especially people like her. She’s pushy, nosy, talks way too much, but I can’t make myself stay away.

But I have to. Because if I don’t, it might kill both of us.

AVENGE

HER:

I’ve infiltrated the Romanian mob.

It’s dangerous, insane, but it’s the only way to get the justice I deserve, the vengeance I’ve dedicated my life to. So I’ve wormed my way in, gotten close enough to strike. Everything is going according to plan.

Except him…

HIM:

I don’t trust her.

She puts on a good face, playing the sweet, kindly nurse.

I’m not convinced.

But not trusting her hasn’t stopped me from wanting her.

Because I do want her.

Badly.

Badly enough to ignore the voice in my head that screams at me to stay away.

Badly enough that I’ll put my honor, my clan, and her life at risk.

And my gaze clashed with a brooding blue one, one I recognized instantly as Sorin’s teasing anger.

My fear turned to rage in an instant, and I pushed at him, pushed again when he lifted a corner of his mouth and laughed.

“Did I scare you, Esther?” he said, his rich, deep voice rolling through the room.

I pushed him again, halfway considered slugging him, but I half worried that hitting the solid wall of his chest would just hurt my hand.

He leaned against the door, smirking, his hand against my waist hot and heavy and the other still holding my wrist. “So quiet,” he said.

I exhaled, swallowed and then swallowed again, trying to calm my pounding heart before I finally was able to speak. “Dammit, Sorin! What the hell is wrong with you?”

“Vasile said you’d just left. I thought I’d make sure you got home,” he said, still smiling, something I’d seen more of in these last thirty seconds than I had during the months I’d known him. For a fleeting moment, I wondered if seeing me was the reason why, but I quickly pushed that aside.

I glared at him, tried to pull my hand away, but he didn’t release me.

“Come on, Esther, don’t be a bad sport,” he said, his voice dropping lower.

“Ugh!” I said. I clenched my fists and stomped, unable to form words, which only made him laugh harder.

I stomped again, not quite sure what to say, and not quite sure that I had the ability to say it.

As I did, he watched me, and I was suddenly aware of his hand tightening against my waist, the scant inches that separated our bodies, noticed the way his gaze dropped to my breasts before lifting to my eyes.

That heated look was just the spur I needed.

“Why are you here, Sorin?” I whispered.

Instead of responding he pushed away from the door, moving fast until I was pressed against the wall, Sorin looming over me. I had to crane my neck to see his face, the dark obscuring his features. It was unnerving, Sorin’s hands on me, his body nearly touching mine but his face unseen. I’d been this close to him before, that first day when he had tried to keep me out, but this felt different, more intimate, especially the way he stared down at me, imposing body over mine, face in shadow.

“What are we going to do?” he asked.

I scoffed. “What are you talking about? And why are you here?” I repeated.

Even though I could hardly see his eyes, I turned away, unable to withstand the intensity that I felt in his gaze.

“Look at me, Esther,” he said as he leaned forward, his voice soft and demanding. Undeniable.

I lifted my gaze to his again, saw the heat in it.

“I asked you a question. What are we going to do?”

“D-do?” I stopped, swallowed hard. “Do about what?”

“That’s disappointing,” he said, narrowing his eyes.

“What?”

“You’re playing coy. You didn’t strike me as the type.”

“Sorin, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I said, impressed when I managed to sound believable because it was a big fat lie. Even before my mind had processed that it was Sorin who’d held me, my body had responded, the gathering dampness between my thighs testament to the fact.

“So you don’t feel it, Esther?”

“Feel what?” I asked, but in reality I knew exactly what he was talking about, and I most certainly felt it.

Felt it in every inch of my body, which practically strained toward him, begging for his touch, felt in it in the butterflies that flitted around my stomach, in the pulse that beat in my chest. But what I didn’t feel was fear. Not anymore.

“You’re a big part of my niece’s life, very important to my sister…”

“She’s not your sister,” I said, voice soft, almost timid.

“Close enough. We’re going to be spending time together, so we need to handle this,” he whispered as he leaned even closer, his breath fanning against my face, his lips centimeters from mine.

“How would you suggest we do that?” I said.

“I think I have an idea.”

Again moving with lightning speed, he turned me so my face was pressed against the wall, his body against mine. Even through the layers of our clothes, I felt the heat of his body, the hardness of his chest, his solid, heavy thighs curved against mine, his hardness against my ass. I almost purred with pleasure, and just barely kept myself from pressing against him harder.

He released his hold on my wrist, and without thought, I lifted my hand to the wall, my fingers curving as I tried to seek purchase. With the hand still on my hip, he pulled me back toward him, his cock grinding against me, his breath on my neck, raising goose bumps across my skin.

“Is this your idea?” I choked out.

“Part of it,” he said.

Then he trailed his fingers across my hip and up to my waistband, the first touch of his rough fingertips against my skin making me exhale sharply. He stayed there for a moment, his thumb teasing my skin, and then he put his other hand on my waist, fingers meeting in the middle of my stomach, hot hands against me making me shiver.

“This will help,” he said as he casually popped open my pants and slid down the zipper.

Who doesn’t love a good mob series??  I know I do!  I was so excited to read this box set that gives you a glimpse into each of these strong males and the women they love.  Each man similar but very different in their personalities and the way they love the women they love.

I couldn’t decide which was my favorite couple but I think Sorin and Esther were my favorite.  They were so antagonistic and elementary school-age ish to each other and their attraction.  It was fun to read their spats and then how they would make up.

This was a great box set with great couples!

4 stars!

Sliding my fingers to the back of his neck, I pressed my lips on his smooth jawline where my hand had been. “I love you, because you love your family and you’re always thinking of them. You want what’s best for them. For all of us. You’re our rock.”
I nibbled toward his ear, kissing and lightly biting him. Caleb shivered and grunted a little.
“Let’s get you out of this chastity contraption,” he said, stroking the two dozen buttons snaking up my back.
“Good idea.” I rose slowly.
Caleb put his hands on my belly, then looked up. “You’re tired.”
“I am, but not too tired to want to celebrate our first night as a married couple.”
Caleb stood and gently spun me around. He lifted my hair and kissed my neck, then paused to work on the top button. Once he got the rhythm of the first few, he was able to kiss my neck and shoulder and unbutton at the same time. His movements turned slow, and he shifted so he was now kissing the back of my neck, then down my back. He lowered to his knees and slowly stripped the dress off my body, kissing every inch of my spine.
“Turn around.”
Carefully, because I was in a pool of chiffon, I did. Since the dress had held my top firmly in place, I hadn’t worn a bra. And I hadn’t bothered to wear a corset because of my belly. So all I had on was a pair of white lace panties and white thigh-high stockings with lacy bands at the top.
His hands went everywhere, and he sighed. Still fully clothed in his tuxedo shirt and pants, Caleb stared up at me. “I’ve never seen you look so beautiful. Everything about you is round and perfect.”
“No, just round.”
He shook his head. “No. Perfect. I can’t wait to see you get bigger. You’re so sensual like this. Like one of those Baroque paintings at the museum.” His hand skimmed up my stomach to cradle one breast.
