He waved over his head and kept moving, looking down to make sure his leg didn’t get caught on anything in the crowded space. While the trajectory of his leg could be controlled well because he had an intact knee joint, he couldn’t feel if anything below his knee got knocked or caught when he was in close quarters. It made the navigating somewhat more difficult, and since he preferred not to fall on his ass in front of half the town, he kept his gaze down.

Which was why he knocked right into something, eliciting a squeak that jolted him out of his hyperfocused state. His hands shot out in reflex, and he caught whatever—whoever—it was as they stumbled. The other person’s weight pulled him off-balance, and he was forced to take another step, planting his good leg to keep upright. The extra step meant that his victim was now virtually under him, bent back in a slight dip as he held what was definitely a her.

His gaze moved up from a set of perfect breasts snug in stretchy azure fabric with a deep V in the front, and on to a neck that was smooth and slim. And then he reached the face, that face, the face that haunted him day in and day out, even when he wanted nothing more than to be free of it.

“Sorry,” he murmured as they stayed frozen in their embrace, T.J.’s big brown eyes blinking at him. But then his gaze dropped, against his will, to her breasts again, and he jerked both him and T.J. upright, setting her away as much as he could in the middle of the tables, stools, and people.

T.J. cleared her throat and smoothed her tight, short dress. Vaughn was caught speechless at the vision of his wholesome, lifelong best friend wearing something that looked like it belonged in a Los Angeles nightclub. The brilliant shade of blue contrasted with her black hair and golden skin, making her glow like some sort of goddess.

Fuck, she was beautiful.

I want her to feel my words. “When it’s done right, Tennie Girl, you will see what all the hype is,” I joke but the laughter dies when thoughts of touching her fill my mind. “There is nothing quick about it. It’s bodies slapping, pulse-pounding glory right up until the explosion at the end. Touching, tasting, feeling someone’s body is the most exquisite action there is and that release at the end is as close to heaven as we ever get while were still alive. Someday, someone will show you the way it should be.” Thinking that someone had better be me and I wouldn’t let her out of my bed until every inch of her body had been pleased beyond her wildest dreams. Pleasured better than any words she has ever read. Hell, when I’m done she will be waxing poetic with her own words.

Donny Times threw up before he went onstage, spattering the lighting technician’s new Converse. There was only one way to handle this sort of lapse in indestructibility with grace. He grinned at the techie and said, “Twelve thousand people would kill to be in your shoes right now.” The grin did little to staunch the sudden flow of misery, his sense of being something small and ugly. It was as though the scrambled eggs and Captain Morgan in his stomach were all that had been keeping him inflated tonight, and now he shriveled like a burnt tick. He gagged again, but nothing else came up. He put out an arm to ward off assistance, if assistance was forthcoming. His eyes clouded and he staggered forward, muttering, “Not tonight. I’m not going out there tonight. I’m not.”

CJ Crespo caught him by the arm and pulled him aside. Put her forehead to Donny’s and said, “Pull it together, shithead.” Her short blonde hair fell over her eyes—a little greasy looking, the way she liked it. She smelled like chicken wings and cigarettes. Her grip on his arm was rough, fingertips digging into his biceps with a rhythm that reminded him of a creature throbbing inside an egg, pressing against membrane and shell until that first delirious split. Everything CJ did had a pulse, felt like something ancient being born. His hand fumbled to find her arm, to return the odd embrace, but CJ pushed him away. Shook her hair from her eyes and rounded her broad shoulders. Almost grinned. “Get your ass out there.”

Here’s the first kiss between my lovers, Brian and Angel.

My San Francisco Highlander – First Kiss 

“Brian. Brian, can you hear me? Please answer.” Panic assailed her at the thought of not finding him. “Dammit, Angus Brian Cameron, answer me right now!” Squawking seagulls offered the only reply. 

Exhausted, she slumped against a tree and slid to the ground. “Where are you, Brian? Please answer me.” No one could possibly hear that whispered plea. 

Eyes closed, she leaned against the tree and listened as the wind ruffled through branches overhead. Then she rolled over on her belly and scanned underneath the thick brush. There! A weird clump of greenish-blue and brown cloth peeked out between a wide tree trunk and a cluster of wild rhododendron bushes. She crawled under the prickly branches and found Brian rolled into a fetal position, unconscious, with streaks of blood staining the dirt. She touched his shoulder gently, afraid he’d wake thrashing and ready to fight. He didn’t move. 

“Brian,” she shook his shoulder. “Angus Brian Cameron, wake up.” When he didn’t move, she lay down behind him, wrapped her arms around his muscled body, and carefully moved his hand from his ear. 

“Brian, you have to wake up now.” He moaned and tucked tighter into a fetal position. 

“That’s it. Wake up. It’s me, Angel. I need to take you back home. You are too big to carry, and I didn’t bring my car.” He moaned again but didn’t move. 

She leaned up on one elbow and wiped sweat and dirt from his brow. She bent to his ear, “Brian, it’s Angel.” 

She didn’t know what possessed her to kiss him, but she began to feather light kisses over his temple, down along his jaw and back up. When she reached his ear, she sucked his earlobe between her teeth and bit down. Lightly at first, and then she nipped his neck at the juncture of his shoulder, this time with more force. 

He rolled over until she found herself partially pinned beneath his hard body, staring up into eyes as green as the overhead canopy. His burnt chestnut hair fell over his forehead in disarrayed clumps. Her breath stopped, but she didn’t flinch or turn away. She held his gaze, his beautiful, startled gaze. The hard body pressed against her chest and hips did strange things to her insides. He dipped his head and pressed a light brush of lips over her mouth, then glazed her lips with his tongue until she opened her mouth and welcomed his intrusion. 

When he lifted his head for breath, she attempted a bit of levity, always her awkward first response to passion. “You’re not supposed to make a girl run all over creation trying to catch you.” She looked down at his leg pressed between her thighs where his erection hardened against her hip.

Aleigha Siron is an Amazon best selling author of Time-Travel romance. Amber’s Review

This was a book that was more of a self-exploration story than anything else. Samantha aka Sam is having a life crisis – she’s not 40 so it’s not midlife.  

Sam has married Sheldon to get away from her toxic parents. Sheldon knows all about Sam’s family life and offers her a way out. Except Sheldon isn’t the man she thought he was and after a year of marriage, Sam and Sheldon separate.  

I wish this story went into things a little more but it was an enjoyable read overall.
