Title: All Geek To Me
Author: Allie York
Release Date: February 13, 2020
Publisher: self-published
Series: Words for Nerds #1
Genres: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy
I, Noralee Reynolds, lead the ultimate nerd life. I own a comic shop, have a great group of geeky friends to work with and wear a different cosplay every day. Since inheriting the family business I’ve had no time for a personal life of my own. Even if hosting a speed dating event makes me wish otherwise.
I, Wyatt Collins, lead a hectic life. As a single dad, I’ve only got time for two things – raising my son and being a cop. I wasn’t looking to cuff myself to anyone. Then I crossed paths with a nerdy comic shop owner who made me think twice.
Things are great until a little self-doubt has Noralee wanting to run away.
Can Wyatt convince her that he can be her real-life superhero?

“I’ll speed date if you need me, but I’d rather not. You three are the ones who need to find men. Aren’t you lonely?” Greer hasn’t heard from Neal in four days and we all know it, but none of us have the heart to be mean to her about it. It’s not worth her heartbreak.
“Me? Lonely?” I look at all three of them. “I can’t get rid of any of you long enough to be lonely.”
“Oh whatever. I saw you fall all over that cop. Literally.” Tuesday tosses her hair over her shoulder.
“She isn’t wrong.” Greer gives me a look that says she’s on to me.
“No lies detected.” Rae pushes her glasses up on her nose with her forearm so her fingers can be used for whatever she’s playing on her phone.
“Oh! What if he comes to speed dating?” Tuesday straightens and grins like the Cheshire Cat.
“I can guarantee that he isn’t coming to speed dating at a comic shop.” I roll my eyes and lean to shut off the computer for the night. It’s almost closing time and everyone has cleared out except for a few lingering kids in the comic club. “There is no way he’s single,” I add stupidly. I should have just denied the fact that I think he is the hottest man I’ve seen outside a Marvel movie… or Aquaman.
“So, you admit that you want to check out what’s under that uniform?” Rae stops looking at her phone and blows another bubble.
“He’s been here three times now. What if he did come? Would you do it?” Greer crosses her arms over her chest and stares me down.
I am so sure of myself that I hold up my Mocking Jay salute. “If Officer Collins shows up, I’ll not only participate, but I’ll also buy you all drinks when we go out Saturday night.” There is no way in hell that man would ever show up for speed dating, much less at Words for Nerds.
I love a good nerd book! Although Noralee was a bit more nerdy than I understood. I know of Dr Who, and Marvel but I couldn’t quote them as she does in her inner and outer monologue. But I like that Nora knew and embraced her nerdiness. And Wyatt did too. Even though he wasn’t quite as nerdy as Nora but still interested in her and the store and just all of Nora.
I love Nora’s friends too who embrace their nerdiness as well but also want the best for Nora so they help make Nora and Wyatt get together. Since it seems like Nora wouldn’t fall in line with Wyatt but I think Wyatt liked Nora so much that he was going to chase Nora into a consensual relationship.
Can’t wait to read more of this woman-run comic series!
5 stars!

Death By Baguette: A Valentine’s Day Murder in Paris (Travel Can Be Murder Cozy Mystery Series)

Paris—the city of love, lights … and murder? Join tour guide Lana Hansen as she escorts five couples on an unforgettable Valentine-themed vacation to France! Unfortunately it will be the last trip for one passenger…
Lana Hansen’s future is looking bright. She has money in her bank account, a babysitter for her cat, and even a boyfriend. Regrettably she won’t get to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her new beau, Chad. Instead, she will be leading a lovers-only tour in France. Luckily for Lana, her best friend, Willow, and her partner, Jane, will be joining her.
Things go downhill when Lana’s new boyfriend shows up in Paris for her tour—with his wife. Chad is not the website developer he claimed to be, but a famous restaurant critic whose love of women rivals his passion for food.
After Chad drops dead during a picnic under the Eiffel Tower, a persistent French detective becomes convinced that he was poisoned. And the inspector’s sights are set on several members of the tour—including Lana!
While escorting her group through the cobblestone streets of Montmartre, the grand gardens of Versailles, and the historic Marché des Enfants Rouges market, Lana must figure out who really killed Chad before she has to say bonjour to prison and adieu to her freedom.
Introducing Lana Hansen, tour guide, reluctant amateur sleuth, and star of the Travel Can Be Murder Cozy Mystery Series. Join Lana as she leads tourists and readers to fascinating cities around the globe on intriguing adventures that, unfortunately for Lana, often turn deadly.
The Travel Can Be Murder Cozy Mysteries are heartwarming stories about making friends, traveling, and celebrating new experiences. Book One—Death on the Danube—is available now. Coming soon: Books Three (Death by Windmill) and Book Four!
Another great story in Lana’s life as a destination tour guide – which funny, I’ve been seeing ads on different apps for a destination tour guide service for Italy. Just ironic, or my phone knows what I’m reading :). Anywho, Lana is headed to France this time with a group of married couples to take them around France. Which I love reading about these destination places because I can’t fly over large bodies of water and this takes me there.
There is all sorts of mystery and intrigue afoot along the trip, although I think Lana just has an inquisitive mind that searches for these things. But maybe when you’re a destination tour guide, you have a more mysterious life. And a tentative boyfriend that she met through a dating site who ends up as one half of a married couple on Lana’s tour. Oh the drama.
This was such a great read and one I can see becoming cozy mystery movies.

Swallowing lies has never felt so good.
Reed freaking Rivers. I wouldn’t trust a word out of the arrogant music mogul’s mouth if his gold-plated tongue were notarized. The Man with the Midas Touch would say anything to get me into his bed, and I know it. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want him to succeed.
Indeed, the moment I laid eyes on Reed while he was speaking at an on-campus event I’d crashed, my body physically ached to feel his golden fingers—and tongue—all over me. Unfortunately, though, I can’t give into my powerful craving to jump Reed’s cocky bones. Not until I’ve figured out my best strategy with him . . .
The truth is Reed has something I desperately want. Something my heart desires even more than my body craves one night of delicious fun with the yummiest man alive. Reed assumes he’s running this game of seduction. He thinks he’s a thirty-four-year-old big cat on the prowl, and I’m nothing but a blushing twenty-one-year old field mouse with stars in my eyes.
Yeah . . . no.
As Reed is about to find out, he’s not the only cat on the hunt in this game of cat-and-mouse . . . .
BAD LIAR is the first book of the standalone REED RIVERS TRILOGY. The full trilogy is BAD LIAR, BEAUTIFUL LIAR, and BELOVED LIAR, to be read in order.
Excerpt:
As I start wrangling glasses off the bar, my gaze finds Georgina’s on the other end of the bar. Instantly, my blood flash-boils at the way she’s looking at me— like she wants to suck my dick.
I smile, and Georgina looks away, her face blushing crimson. And, just this fast, I know a certain something about Little Miss Georgina Ricci . . .
I’m not sure how much of my exchange with the blonde Georgina overheard, but I’m pretty sure it was enough for her to realize I’m maybe more of an asshole than she’d previously thought . . .
Which is okay. Because, based on the heated look Georgina just flashed me before looking away, she very much likes assholes.

Florist Laney George has a successful business, amazing friends and big, big dreams––oh, and a broken heart. But she’s working through that last one. Then the man she hoped to never see again shows up––and Laney’s carefully ordered plans are experiencing technical difficulties.
Celebrated Author Adam Fitzpatrick planned to be in St. Clair for no more than a day. Sign the books, and get out. Same story, different day. What he didn’t count on was Laney George, who happens to be the star of his somewhat fictional tale. She broke his heart years ago, and he’d gone a bit mad. Okay, maybe a lot mad––and he put everything in his book, never imagining it would be a world-wide best seller.
Now that he’s seen her again, he wants answers. But it isn’t just her that draws him in. It’s the town, something is happening and for the first time in years…he can write again. If only he could convince the woman who hates him most to start a new chapter in their story.
Adam frowned as he studied the green wall in the airport restaurant. The strands of ivy had strange lines of yellow running through them, making them seem dead and lifeless. He reached out a hand and touched a leaf, then recoiled. Plastic. No wonder he didn’t like it. He pulled out some bills to pay for his coffee and got to his feet. A few weeks ago, he didn’t even know what a green wall was, yet now every time he saw one, all he could think of was Laney, her mouth pursed in concentration as she’d woven leaves and branches into the large metal frame.
And she could use a chainsaw.
So hot.
He walked through the busy terminal to catch his flight. He’d ended up having to stay two nights in New York and
spent most of the time wishing he was back in St. Clair. At least they’d raised double the money from last year’s event, and soon he’d be boarding his flight.
Eight hours later, Adam pulled his rental car up to the Belles and climbed out. The St. Clair breeze was fresh and warm and loosened the knots in his shoulders. All he wanted to do was wrap himself around Laney, drinking in her warmth. He’d called her from the airport, but it had gone straight to her messages. He paused and frowned.
They didn’t usually catch up until after six, but it had been two days. Besides, it must be six o’clock somewhere in the world.
The closed sign hung on the door, but she’d given him a key last week. He climbed the stairs two at a time and reached the top as she walked past holding a tray of hot drinks. Her hair was pulled back off her face and hung over one shoulder, leaving her neck exposed. Heat seared through him, and he went to cross the threshold.
Then she turned, and her entire body froze, knuckles turning white as she gripped the tray. Her mouth had taken on a horrified shape, as if he’d just walked across an entire garden bed of flowers. Adam stiffened in response. Not quite the homecoming he’d been expecting.
“Where did you say the other jar of olives was?” a voice called out from somewhere in the apartment. Jessica? Oh, hell. His rising heat faded as Laney’s eyes locked with his, her gaze pleading. Begging him to stay hidden.
“Don’t tell her. She’s already finished one jar today,” Brett’s voice chimed in from somewhere in the room.
Laney’s hands shook as the color drained from her face, and Adam numbly took a step back down the stairs. Some of the tension in her jaw lessened, and she gave him a pained smile before hurrying into the other room, where her guests were obviously waiting. A dismissal.
He rubbed his jaw as steel spikes jabbed at his gut. Had he been imagining that this thing they had was more than just a fling? Had he spent the last two days wanting to be with someone who didn’t want to be with him? A familiar wave of humiliation and anger swept through him. What I want doesn’t seem to matter.
The sound of their laughing voices chased him as he stalked back to his own apartment. Nothing like a reality check to remind him that, despite how well everything seemed to be going, Simon was still there.
I’m competing with a ghost.
That was why she hadn’t told anyone about their previous relationship. Why she didn’t want anyone to know about this one. His legs twitched, and he considered going for a jog, but to do so he’d have to leave the apartment and risk bumping into Laney and her in-laws again. Risk seeing the horror in her eyes at almost having her secret exposed.
Beer was the next best thing. He grabbed a can from the fridge.
Amanda Ashby was born in Australia but now lives in New Zealand where she writes romance, young adult and middle grade books. She also owns far too many vintage tablecloths and likes to delight her family by constantly rearranging the furniture.
She has a degree in English and Journalism from the University of Queensland and is married with two children. Her debut book was nominated for a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice award, and her first young adult book was listed by the New York Public Library’s Stuff for the Teen Age. Because she’s mysterious she also writes middle grade books under the name, Catherine Holt and hopes that all this writing won’t interfere with her Netflix schedule.
