New Release ~ The Man Next Door ~ by ~ Roya Carmen

Title: The Man Next Door
Author: Roya Carmen
Genre: Romance Suspense
Release Date: May 21, 2020
I was just a girl, a young neglected girl with issues. I was a mess. A mess he wanted nothing to do with. He knew better. But I certainly didn’t. All I knew was that I liked what I saw.

I grew up in small town Michigan, raised by a single alcoholic father and two older brothers who never gave me the time of day. All I had were my best friends, Izzie and Gavin, a reclusive broken man, ten years my senior. My father forbade me to see him, but I didn’t listen. I was crazy about him and he adored me. Even when our small community was rocked by a heinous crime and Gavin was the main suspect, I still loved him.

When tragedy struck, I finally escaped. As far away as I could.

I’ve been in Chicago ever since, trying to forget all about my past. Yet, I find myself still thinking about my past, about Gavin and Izzie, about my other life. I’m not truly living anymore, just going through the motions. Until…

Noah Reed. My new neighbor. Beautiful, sweet and intoxicating. There’s something about him I just can’t put my finger on. He’s the first man since Gavin I truly let myself fall for. I think he might be the one. Until…

… the day I discover his secret.

His sky blue eyes are fixed on me, and I freeze. We’re both without words. No, it’s not just my imagination. The boy definitely wants to get into my pants, or my sweats, as it were.
“I’ve been busy,” he says, not taking his eyes off me, “but not that busy. I just think you should stay away from me, Abby. I’d be nothing but trouble for you.”
My breath hitches. What does he mean? “Why?”
“I’m a mess. I’m bad news, Abby. You’re probably better off to stay away.”
“Why? What did you do? Are you in the mob? Did you kill someone?”
He laughs. “No. And no.”
“Then what is it?” I ask, breathless. “Do you have a girlfriend? A secret wife? Are you a grieving widower?”
He smiles. “No… single at the moment. And not a grieving widower… never married.”
I stare down at my fuzzy socks. “It’s because I’m too old, right? You don’t get mixed up with women my age. You probably want some hot young thing.”
He shakes his head and catches me by surprise when he takes my face in his soft hands. “You’re not too old. You’re beautiful, Abby.”
My silly heart skips at his words.
“Then why?” I ask softly.
His pupils grow, his eyes darken, and his beautiful lips slightly part open. I stretch my neck up, and tentatively press my eager mouth against his, just a soft kiss.
He doesn’t move, doesn’t react, and it breaks my heart. I can see desire in his eyes, as clear as day. I can feel the attraction between us, in every cell of my being. He’s as tempted as I am, yet he won’t—
He grabs my face again, but this time, he’s not gentle. He presses his mouth against mine and licks my bottom lip. My whole core is on fire. I reach for his jaw, and rub my palms against his five o’clock shadow. When his tongue invites mine to dance and play, it eagerly accepts. His hands travel to my hair and his long fingers get tangled in my locks as his mouth is busy exploring me, undoing me. My whole body is lost to him. I haven’t been kissed like this since…
Since Gavin.
I want more. I lean in, and press myself harder against him, my desire possessing me unapologetically, making me numb to the world outside. I run my hands down his torso, and he groans when I reach the band of his pants. Is this wrong? Is this too early? We barely know each other. He’s too young for me.
My heart jerks when he suddenly pulls back and pushes me off him. My stomach falls. I’m an idiot. He clearly doesn’t want to get involved with me. Why am I acting so aggressive, so desperate? “I’m sorry… I got carried away.”
He’s breathless when he tells me, “No… it was me. I just think this is a bad idea, Abby. That’s all.”
Why is it such a bad idea? I want to scream. Tell me why?
“You should probably go.”
“Yes… sorry.” I rise and turn on my heel. I’m not staying there another second. I get it. You don’t want me. You don’t have to tell me twice.
He nips at my heels as I practically sprint out of his loft. “I’m sorry,” are the last words I hear before I slam the door into his face. I run to my apartment in tears.
My movie is still on. Richard’s character climbs the fire escape to reach Julia’s, despite the fact that he’s terrified of heights. He’s wielding a bouquet of roses, and his heart is hers. Forever.
Stupid movie.
Bleeding hearts bared, total abandonment and grand declarations of love… that’s not how real life works.
It’s all a bunch of crap.

I click off the TV, and cry in my pillow.

“There was a truth once. Truth we shared in the dark and scribed scars upon our hearts.

There was a lie once. A lie that shattered our hard-earned truth apart.”

Eleanor Grace did the unbelievable. She fell for a man who trades in women, dabbles in myth, and has the morals of a cold-hearted beast. However, love isn’t enough where past sins are concerned and only pain can follow.

Sully Sinclair did the impossible. He gave his trust to a goddess who has the ultimate power to break him. Unfortunately, paradise is just an illusion, his islands aren’t impenetrable, and now he has to pay the price.

A fledgling connection.

A war they can’t stop.

A future that doesn’t bow to fate.

I WAS A SCIENTIST—not because I’d been born into the lineage—but because I had an obsessive need to chase the impossible. I didn’t accept that a human body was at its full capacity in its current pathetic state.

I believed we were a battery—a machine working at thirty percent—and all we needed was a compound or chemical…something to trigger a new state of being. A stronger state, an invincible state.

Medical advances had gotten me closer to that goal.

Trials and failures had inched me closer to achieving what no one else had before.

But it was fury that shattered the threshold of evolution.

Book Tour ~ His Small-Town Girl ~ by ~ Lacy Williams

Title: His Small-Town Girl
Series: Sutter’s Hollow #1
Author: Lacy Williams
Genre: Sweet Romance
Release Date: May 12, 2020
Cover Design: Covers & Cupcakes

“This book touched me so much, especially with what is happening in the world right now. We NEED a book like this to restore our faith in humanity!” -Valri via Goodreads

“And ooh boy, The Moment. That was epic. Every girl needs a Cord (and a Moment) in her life.” -Meagan via Goodreads

She’s sweet and wholesome. And hiding something.
He’s back home, resurrecting old ghosts.
One of them is going to get hurt.

Molly arrives in Sutter’s Hollow out of gas and out of options. The rundown ranch seems like a perfect place to hide. Except the man who owns it seems just as dangerous as what’s chasing her.

Cord’s mantra growing up? Get out of Sutter’s Hollow. Now he’s back in town, but only long enough to get rid of his grandma’s ball and chain—the ranch. He doesn’t need a complication like Molly, who reminds him of an injured baby bird. He’s no protector. So why can’t he tell her to get lost?
What was she going to do?
Molly caught her knuckle as she twisted the wrench on a nut that just wouldn’t give. She gritted her teeth as the skin scraped away. She sucked on the skin, the iron tang of blood settling on her tongue.
Questions bounced through her mind as a cold wind blew straight down the collar of her jacket.
Once she got the nut loosened, the dead alternator would lift out. Another hour, and she’d have the new one installed in its place.
And then what?
She’d promised Cord she’d get off his property. He’d been kind, letting her stay the past two nights. She’d repaid him by cooking some of Mama’s favorite meals, though she’d left him to eat in peace, staying in her room and strumming her guitar.
She hadn’t slept other than in snatches. She needed to get the fear under control. She couldn’t keep going like this.
She’d seen a random stranger walking down the street and panicked. A full blown attack, with the shakes and trouble breathing. In front of Cord, who obviously pitied her.
Pitied her, but wasn’t going to invite her to stay.
I’ll never let you go.
I’ll kill anybody you get close to.
Toby’s cutting voice had been bouncing through her brain ever since.
You’re mine.
She wasn’t his. Never had been.
But no matter how many times she repeated it to herself, his voice followed her.
She’d found a measure of safety on Cord’s land. It was quiet, peaceful. Maybe she could find someplace like it.
She tried to tell herself she would be fine.
But she didn’t believe it.
Footsteps crunched in the dried grasses, and she startled so badly that she dropped her wrench into the engine with a clang.
She might’ve uttered a cuss word under her breath as she retrieved it.
She shot a glance at Cord, approaching from the house, but he pretended he hadn’t seen her jump like a lunatic.
“Need some help?” He shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans. His flannel shirt was unbuttoned above a T-shirt that clung to his abs.
“No thanks.” She’d fight with this bolt a little more, and then she’d win. She’d do the next step and the next until the engine was rebuilt.
Too bad she didn’t have a manual for how to rebuild her life.
He shifted his feet. Opened his mouth. Shut it again. Then blurted, “Can you come inside for a minute? I wanna talk.”
“What’s there to talk about? I told you I’m getting ready to leave. You’ll have your solitude back.”
He mumbled something under his breath. When she shot him a look, he awarded her a tight smile. It was some improvement over his fierce frowns. What would it take to drag a real smile from him? “Please, will you come inside?”
The nut finally loosened, the tension giving away under the strain in her arm.  “Fine,” she said.
It was the work of a few seconds to remove the nut and bolt, and then she lifted out the alternator and set it on the ground beside the truck. An empty spot was left behind in the truck’s engine.
That’s how she felt right now. There was a huge piece missing inside of her. She didn’t know how to get it back.
She wiped her grease-stained hands on a rag as she followed Cord to the house. In the kitchen, he motioned her to sit in one of the kitchen chairs. She crossed her arms and leaned against the counter instead.
He leveled a look on her. “You okay?”
She dropped her gaze to the floor. “I’m fine.”
She wasn’t fine. But he’d already seen her at her worst, and she didn’t want to face his pity again.
“Molly.”
She heard the skepticism in the single word. She turned away and started running water at the sink. She scrubbed her hands with the rough green bar of soap left there. And rinsed.
And then he was close behind her, reaching around her to turn off the water. Her body was betraying her again. It was awareness of him at her shoulder—not fear—that made her heart pound.
That and the sickening memory of Toby.
“I want to know what’s going on,” he said. The words emerged heavy, as if they’d cost him.
She squeezed her eyes closed.
He touched her, cupping one hand beneath her elbow.
And when she looked up at him again, something was burning behind his eyes. “I have to know. Did someone hurt you?”

She clutched the edge of the sink. “He tried.”
Lacy Williams wishes her writing career was more like what you see on Hallmark movies: dreamy brainstorming from a French chateau or a few minutes at the computer in a million-dollar New York City penthouse. In reality, she’s up before the sun, putting words on the page before her kids wake up for the day. Those early-morning and late-night writing sessions add up, and Lacy has published fifty books in almost a decade, first with a big five publisher and then as an indie author. When she needs to refill the well, you can find Lacy birdwatching, gardening, biking with the kiddos, or walking the dog. GHOST by DJ Bryce

A Paranormal Romance

Synopsis:

Ghost has been living the life of a nomad. A Lone Wolf. Riding his Harley, picking up odd jobs, and stopping only long enough to lay his head somewhere for the night. But life on the road is no longer as appealing as it used to be and he’s ready to settle down, find a mate, and begin the next chapter of his life.

Dark Moon Falls seems like a great place to do just that.

Mackenzie was born and raised in Dark Moon Falls, but ever since her ex-husband landed in jail based off of her testimony, she’s become a pariah to the shifters in town. Which is fine with Mac, because after being left to raise her son alone, she doesn’t have much faith in them either.

Ghost and Mac are two lonely souls, until fate finally intervenes and puts them in each other’s paths… But will they accept the gift of each other, or are they both two stubborn to see what’s right in front of them?

TBRreview

My guilty pleasure are wolf shifter romances! And Ghost is one of the good ones! Once he meets Mac, he knows she’s it for him. She is his mate. And Mac, even though she’s not a shifter, knows that Ghost is something significant for her.

Ghost and his plans to settle down and getting together with Mac are so swoony. He goes from loner to family man within days. Suddenly he’s willing to put down ties, potentially belong to a pack and just settle down. It’s great to see someone on Mac’s side, which she desperately needed!

5 stars!

Pre-Order Blitz ~ Three Strikes ~ by ~ Allana Walker

Title: Three Strikes
Series: Demon Disciples Series Book One
Author: Allana Walker
Genre: MC Romance/Suspense
Release Date: June 1, 2020

From the moment I turned fifteen, my life was planned out right down to the man I was to marry one day.

Until one night changed my life for good.

Welcome to the screwed up world of Daria Denver.

Strike One; She walks into my Clubhouse uninvited.

Strike Two; She steals from me.

Strike Three; She keeps a nine-year-old secret from me.

Daria Denver will learn never to piss off a Demons Disciples.

Especially me, Striker Xanders.

“What the hell have you done?” Dad looks between me and Daria lying on my bed. “Please tell me you haven’t…”

He doesn’t finish the sentence. I sit on my chair in the corner of my room, holding the knife, twisting the pointed end on the tip of my finger until blood drips off the edge. I stare at Daria as Dad walks over to check on her. His hand goes to her neck to check her pulse.

“She’s not dead,” I mutter.

“She barely has a pulse, Striker!” he snarls, popping his head out of the door. “Doc, get your ass in here, NOW!”

I hear a stampede of footsteps. Noisy bastards. Doc pushes through the brothers.

“Help this young girl. I don’t need another dead girl on my hands!” I don’t look away from Daria, the mother of my kid.

The lying bitch, lying there, barely breathing. Her words come back to me; You’ll never be Emily’s father. Bitch thinks she can keep my daughter away from me, she can think again. I’ll finish the job the next time she tries. My hand grips the handle of my knife so hard my knuckles turn white, my breathing becoming ragged. Before I know what I’m doing, I’m on my feet, marching towards my bed, towards Daria’s body, pushing Doc and Dad out of the way. Just as I lean down to whisper in her ear, her eyes open staring into mine, blue to brown. I expected to see fear when she sees me, but I see defiance, anger, and desire. I still have the knife in my hand, and I bring it up towards her neck. She swallows, but still no fear shows in her eyes. Pressing the blade into her neck, I lean down to her ear.

“You try to keep my kid from me again, I will slit your pretty little neck.”

“Do it. I dare you.”

Falling for Her by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Monica Murphy is coming June 2, 2020!

Jake Callahan. Prince of the popular crowd.

My mortal enemy.

Gorgeous. All the girls want him.

Quarterback. All the boys want to be his friend. He’s the most popular boy in the senior class.

And he hates me.

Or so I thought.

What I mistook for hatred turns out to be…interest. There’s that thin line, right? It makes me crazy. I can’t stand it. Attraction, chemistry, whatever it is, I also can’t resist it.

And neither can he.

Together, we make no sense. The odds are against us. His friends definitely don’t approve. I’m not a part of their crowd. Not one of the cool kids. I don’t fit in, or so they say.

But that doesn’t stop him from falling for me.

And it won’t stop me from fighting for him.

New Release ~ Jock Blocked ~ by ~ Pippa Grant

Title: Jock Blocked

Series: Copper Valley Fireballs #1

Author: Pippa Grant
Genre: Romantic Comedy

 Release Date: May 19, 2020

Blurb

She can’t let him score…
Call it superstition, but when a guy bats as hot as Brooks
Elliott, you don’t mess with what’s working. And what’s working is him keeping
his pants zipped and doing all of his scoring on the field.
So when I hear he’s planning to ditch his V-card now that
he’s been traded to baseball’s lovable losers—aka my home team and my reason
for living every March through October—I do what any rational, dedicated,
obsessed fan would do.
I make a plan to stop him.
But the thing about stopping him is that it requires
spending time with him.
Lots. And lots. And lots of time.
And the more time I spend with him, the more I like him. Not
as the guy who’s going to help save my favorite team and finally bring home a
championship ring, but as the guy who’s helping me in my quest to bring back
the team’s old mascot. Who also loves making pancake and bacon sandwiches. And
who would do almost anything for his love of the game.
But after all this time of jock-blocking him…do I even have
a chance?
And if I do, are we both destined to a life
of celibacy in the name of winning?
Jock Blocked is a home run of a romantic comedy
featuring the world’s most superstitious sports fan, baseball’s oldest virgin
hero, a rogue meatball, an adorable puppy with a cussing problem, and the best
lovable losers. It stands alone and comes with a happily ever after more
satisfying than a game-winning grand slam.

Excerpt

Mackenzie
Montana, aka a woman on a mission
I never
meant to become a criminal. But in the grand scheme of life, I don’t think I’m
technically engaging in criminal behavior.
At least,
if it is, you could call it a crime of passion.
And I am very
passionate in my belief that while the Fireballs need to make changes to halt
their record-breaking streak of being the worst losing team ever to play
professional baseball, they don’t need to do it with a new mascot. Which is why
I decided to take two weeks off work and fly to Florida for spring training,
where I’m not saying that I’ve snuck into my home team’s ballpark after hours
to steal the worst proposed mascot costume, but I’m not saying I haven’t
either.
Meatballs?
They
actually let a meatball make the final cut.
I needed at
least another full season to get over the fact that the new Fireballs ownership
killed the last mascot, and here they are, letting fans vote on replacing
Fiery the Dragon with flaming meatballs.
I snort to
myself while I creep through the darkened concrete hallways with a flaming
meatball swallowing half of my body.
If you’re
going to steal a giant meatball costume, it’s best to act like you know what
you’re doing. And striding out of here with zero shame means two things—one, no
one’s going to stop me, and two, even if they do, I’
m incognito.
It’s the
perfect crime to counter the crime of killing Fiery.
I’m one
turn away from the door that I left propped open for myself after hiding out in
the family bathroom after today’s game when voices drift toward me.
One male.
One female.
Neither is
familiar, but as I get closer to my final turn, I realize the voices are
between me and my exit.
No biggie.
I got this.
I can
stroll on by, flash a thumbs-up, pretend like I’m heading out to prank the
Fireballs at the team compound they’re all staying at, or to make a fast-food
run for publicity.
Acting like
I know what I’m doing inside this mascot costume is as easy as breathing. When
you’ve seen thousands of baseball games in your lifetime, it’s not hard.
So I turn
the corner.
And then I
suck in a surprised breath, because that’s Brooks Elliott.
Oh. My.
God.
Brooks
Elliott.
The
Fireballs’ newest acquisition. Like, so new he arrived yesterday. A
mid-spring training acquisition, which is practically unheard of.
He plays
third base, and he hits the ball like it’s evil incarnate and he’s an avenging
angel and it’s his job to send that evil into another dimension.
He could be
the reason we legitimately have a shot at making it to the post-season.
And I am not
going to hyperventilate like I did the last time I was face-to-face with a
baseball player.
Pretending
to be a mascot?
I got this.
Talking to
the players?
It’s like
talking to the gods.

She’s appeared on the front page of the New York Times (when her book, Speed Dating launched Harlequin’s NASCAR series), has been a clue in a crossword puzzle (National Post, Canada) and she’s been a finalist for the RITA award three times, honored by Romantic Times Magazine and often shares her love of writing in her popular workshops.

Dante
My life’s a tale of betrayal.
I killed so many because they betrayed our cause, because they betrayed the Outfit.
A hypocrite. A liar. A murderer.
That’s what I am.
Five times I betrayed the Outfit. With my blood I made a vow to our cause, swore my life to it, promised to put the Outfit first. Above all else.
Five times I chose a woman over the good of the Outfit. I betrayed my father. My vow. My men.
You reap what you sow.
Would my betrayals destroy everything I swore to protect?

Valentina
On our wedding day I made a vow to stand by Dante’s side.
In good and in bad times.
To love him through it all.
Growing up in the mafia, I knew the challenges in our life would be numerous. I never expected them to tear at the very base of our family, of our existence.

Cora lives in Germany with a cute but crazy Bearded Collie, as well as the cute but crazy man at her side. When she doesn’t spend her days dreaming up sexy books, she plans her next travel adventure or cooks too spicy dishes from all over the world.
