Quinn
Just six years old when my brother was snatched off the street, I grew up in the aftermath of tragedy. While other kids were happily playing in the sandbox, I was hiding under press conference podiums listening to my parents beg for Jake’s safe return.
People ask if I’m screwed up after what happened, and I never know how to respond. Life after the kidnapping is all I’ve ever known. Well, that and being the youngest brother to a rock star. Jake was the ultimate survivor. The prodigal son. My king.
But I’m not that worshipful kid anymore, and I’m tired of walking a step behind. I’ve got the talent. I’ve got the drive. And now I’m coming for Jake’s throne.
Jess
What to do with a runaway rock star in my passenger seat?
Jess of yore would’ve jumped at the chance. Hell, she’d already be in his lap by now. She was fearless and fun and sexy. She lived like there was no tomorrow… until tomorrow came calling and delivered her an ultimatum: repent or risk losing it all.
And so responsible Jess was born, the good girl who paid her rent and watered her plants and put others before herself. The new, improved version of myself represented stability and a roof overhead. Yet sometimes… sometimes I missed that reckless girl. Wild Jess. God, she’d been so fun.
And now Quinn was here, built like a god and asking me to play. One mindless afternoon of fun.
Surely I could spare that for a future rock legend. I could bring old Jess back for just one day.
What could possibly go wrong?

I have not read any of the other books in the Cake series, but I didn’t need to. I was still able to greatly enjoy the story of Jess and Quinn without reading the other 5 books in the series. It did take me a little bit to get into Jess and Quinn’s POVs but then quickly I was taken in and invested in their story. And had to find out the story of Jesserella. **You’ll only understand that if you read the story.
Jess was not looking for a rockstar at this point in her life, maybe when she was younger but not now. And she definitely isn’t looking for the publicity that a rockstar would bring.
Quinn has a lot going on in his life and just really doesn’t know what he wants. At least until he meets the awesome RYde driver who helps him out and entrances him.

Leslie Wilder grew up in a small town in West Tennessee. A country girl at heart, she’s always thought that life is too short, but she had no idea how short it really was until her brother passed away in 2014. She’s always been an avid reader, loving the escape only a great book can give, and wondered if she had what it took to write one of the wild romances she’d come to adore. With the support of her family and friends, she published Inferno: A Devil Chaser’s MC, one year after her brother’s death. With him in mind, she fulfilled her lifetime dream of writing. Since then, she’s completed the Devil Chaser’s Series and continued on with the Satan’s Fury MC Series. She has so many stories in her head, and can’t wait to share each and every one.

My daughter is my entire world, but my father views her birth as a blemish on my record. He loves Gabrielle and treats her like spun silk. But whenever I talk of taking over the family business, he mentions the circumstances of her birth and accuses me of poor judgement. And because I still wet my wick more often than my father likes, he thinks I haven’t changed. I need to prove to him I am more than a pretty face for the cameras and women to love. I can run the business. Closing this deal in America will show him that. However, coming to SAX Lounge before I head home and being loudly called an asshole by one of the most beautifully ballsy women I’ve ever seen will not. She is breathtaking… whoever she is. She’s taller than most women, but still at least a full foot shorter than me. Her legs went on forever in that dress and her skin is the color of browned butter. It looked smooth and touchable. She wore little make-up and when she spoke to me, her full lips begged me for a kiss. I almost obliged them. But I can’t take chances like that. I’m in America, but that kiss could end up all over the French tabloids before I landed back home. Plus, I don’t know her angle. She could be just as predatory and traitorous as Gabrielle’s mother, Eve. I need to feel her out; to get her close and away from the crowd… on the dance floor. I didn’t notice her at first, which is probably a good thing. If I had, I would have charmed her until I talked her right out of what I imagine being very sexy panties. Instead, I was accosted by one of the many groupies I tried to shake off when I entered the bar. I can’t believe women over here even know who I am, but I should have known better. Gold diggers do their research. But the feisty woman at the bar doesn’t strike me as a groupie. Everything about her screamed refinement and respect. She looked moved like she commands any room she enters. Her eyes were an intense chocolate brown with specks of gold that demanded my attention. Her ebony hair swung confidently down her back as she walked away. And that ass… C’est manifique! Meeting her made my decision to get my own drinks for the night a worthy one. When our drinks got mixed up, I wanted to play with her. I knew she was there first; I should have given her the drinks, but I wanted a reason to talk to her. Plus, I didn’t like her answer when I asked a favor. I really needed to go. Leaving my cousin Kwame alone too long in a place like this is not a good idea. He’s a magnet for mischief and trouble. Her defiance made my dick throb, but it also made me want to discipline her. I can’t be told what to do and when she begs me to fuck her, because she will, she will learn she can’t boss me around. Which is what I’m sure she does to everyone else in her life. So instead of getting on my plane, I am planning how to get her into my bed. Another night in D.C. won’t be bad at all if I have her shapely legs wrapped around my waist. Gabrielle is at Disneyland Paris with her maternal grandmother for the week, so I can spend an extra day here to have some fun with the mystery woman. When she called me a fucking asshole, I wanted to take her pretty mouth and cleanse it of those filthy words. But I held myself, which is a feat. I usually take what I want. No one speaks to me with such disrespectful words. But if I have my way, she will apologize through multiple orgasms. When I reach the booth Kwame secured for us, I slide his drink to him, but he barely registers my presence. He’s wrangled three women, and they are all practically naked and chomping at his rich bit. I do not have time for this. One woman licks her lips and gives me a look that says I can do anything I want to her… for the right price. But that’s not what I’m looking for. Tonight, I want the woman who I’m pretty sure won’t do whatever I want without being perfectly persuaded. I want the woman who had the gall to call me an asshole. “You all look cozy.” I shoot Kwame a look, and he squirms. My plan was to keep a low profile, and this is the exact opposite. “If I knew we were having company, I would have ordered more drinks.” The women smile, and Kwame laughs nervously. “No worries, cousin, this is VIP. Bottle service will start soon. Why don’t you sit down and join us? The ladies were just telling me about their favorite places to visit in D.C.” “Yes.” The lip-licker purrs while patting a space beside her. “Why don’t you come and take a seat next to me.” I conjure up the best smile I can. “No, I don’t think so. I’m actually looking for a friend.” Her face drops, and I can see the flash of annoyance in her eyes. She’s used to men just falling face-first into her fake cleavage. But I am not most men. “Kwame, I will check on you later.” He doesn’t protest, but I know he’s annoyed. I doubt he will keep those ladies interested without the major cash cow in the booth. But that’s his problem. And so is drinking. Kwame drinks and gambles way too much. He boasts about power and money that he does not have. And he’s always dragging me into foolishness. I’m practically his babysitter, but tonight I have other plans. I have a woman to find. I stop by the bar to grab another drink. Hennessey neat. I scan the lounge, and it doesn’t take me long to find her. She is sitting in a booth on the opposite side of the bar, holding court with two women. She looks even more beautiful, relaxed and with her girls. The two women with her are also beautiful but can’t hold a candle next to her. She reminds me of a young Diahann Carroll. Her deep golden skin shimmers under the lights, making her beauty stand front and center. They are celebrating something. I hear her table scream congratulations as they toast their glasses. Now is as good a time as any to introduce myself.About Louise Lennox

Georgia

I have GOT to stop reading such great stories right before I go to bed because instead of sleeping, I am staying awake WAY too late to read the rest of the story. And holy moly was MKoP one of these stories! I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series but DANG, if they’re all like this, I’m definitely going to!
I felt for Georgia and her anxiety in bigger groups, especially as of late with social distancing. But how sweet was Chase for taking care of her and being sensitive to her anxiety? He definitely was a sweetie at times and TOTALLY book boyfriend worthy!
So much happened in this book, but it wasn’t overpowering. I wanted to keep reading and reading and find out what happened. But I definitely want to read more in this series, 100%! And if you haven’t yet, you will too!

Is this the beginning of our epic love story?
Alexandra Wilde’s life is beyond her wildest dreams. After a tumultuous year, she has returned to Botswana as a full-fledged pediatric ICU doctor and reignites a consuming romance with Ian Devall, the privileged philanthropist who has captured her heart. Her new position at the hospital is fraught with challenges as saving lives pushes her resourcefulness to the brink. Meanwhile, her connection with Ian deepens, and she realizes that forging a commitment with him will require a sacrifice she isn’t ready to make. As she teeters on the precipice of decision, tragedy strikes and sends her into a spiral of grief where she must find hope in adversity…or risk losing everything she has become.

“I went to see my dad to talk to him about the Mongolia project, and he suggested we go for a drive. That’s when he told me you had come all the way to his house to find me, and I asked him a…question.”
Ian focused harder into the remnants of his breakfast.
“What question was that?”
“What was it like to love someone so much and not be loved like that in return?”
Alex blinked as the words settled into her skin. Ian was referring to his parents—how his dad had let his mom pursue her dreams at the expense of his happiness and how she had slipped away from him after Ryan’s death, ultimately abandoning Ian. Alex tried to contain the singular tear spilling over the outer corner of her eye—a tear concentrated with empathic grief.
“What did he say?”
Ian pushed his plate to the side and turned to face her, his long legs barely able to fit in the narrow space between the barstools. “He said that it was terrible…and wonderful.” Ian reached down to wind his fingers through Alex’s. “He said he had no regrets.” Ian closed his eyes, plucking the conversation out of his memory. “Because epic love is rare and requires a man to let go of his fear. But once he does, he is free to love recklessly.”
His lids parted to reveal a depth in his irises that Alex had only seen once before, and their flames scorched her very soul.
“I am terrified of losing you again, but I am more terrified of a life without you.”
His lips were moving again, but the words were scattered by Alex’s quick exhale right before she pressed her mouth to his. In her kiss, she infused all the warm, tender sweetness that bloomed in her heart. Their meeting of lips was a sacred vow made amidst the leftover scent of maple syrup and the gentle whine of a concerned canine. Alex pulled away, opening the drawbridge to a fortress filled with emotion that rushed to the surface, leaving a warmth to her skin and a brightness in her eyes.
She placed her palms on either side of Ian’s face. “You will never have to imagine a life without me.”
Although he remained speechless, his expression, one of adoration and spectacular love, provided Alex the answer to her heart’s final question—an answer written in the glowing embers of his flame blue eyes.
