Maxon Maxon Maxon! I spent about half the book hating him and half of it loving him. Maxon is determined that he’s going to beat his backstabbing brother at being able to sell this amazing property on Maui. Which seriously, it’s Maui, is there a “bad” property?? Moving on, he’s discussing the plan with his employees at a bar when he is struck. He sees the most gorgeous woman who he knows will be the perfect distraction for his brother from bidding on the property.
I love Keeley. There was never a point where I didn’t. And she made me think about my own life and philosophies about things. She agrees to Maxon’s insulting proposal because she knows she needs business knowledge that Maxon can provide to achieve her goals.
This was a sweet story that made me laugh at times and almost cry. Which isn’t the best at work. This ends in an HEA but you HAVE to know what happens with Griff. And you will, in the next story. Oy!!

Exclusive Excerpt:

With my job and with Beth. I’m not exactly sure how I got to be this lucky. I was making some poor choices and someone somewhere should have made me suffer a little longer while I learned from my mistakes. And who knows, maybe risking my job to be with Beth is what’s going to bite me in the ass, but it’s worth it. She’s worth it.

The early morning sun is just peeking through the blinds. The small ray falls across Beth’s bare back where I find myself tracing her skin with my free hand until she stirs awake.

“Somehow, you’re the only person who can wake me before seven thirty and I don’t want to bite your head off,” she mumbles, her face in the pillow.

“That’s because I have a much better peace offering in the morning than everyone else,” I say. “Plus I have another idea for those handcuffs we used last night.” My heart about stopped when we got back to my place after the barbeque and she pulled them out of her purse. This wonderful woman is just full of surprises and she’s all mine.

“And what’s that?” she asks.

With the same hand that was caressing her skin, I tickle my fingers down her back and over her ass. She moans, her body stretching into mine as she inches closer to me. She’s still naked from last night, which is working out to my advantage right now.

When my hand is splaying over her right cheek, I move in one swift motion to position myself on top of her. She gasps with excitement, a wide smile peering up at me.

I nudge her legs apart with my knee and settle myself between them. Her back bows and her hands grip the sheets as I kiss my way down the front of her body.

Her taste will never get old. Each time is like the first time. I can’t get enough. I want more. I need more.

I take my time, reveling in the way her delicate and soft skin feels under my touch. I heard somewhere that redheads are supposed to have freckles almost everywhere, but Beth is different. Her freckles appear in small groups. Like the three under her left ear, the four that fall into the shape of diamond right between her breasts and the many that scatter just over her right hipbone. She has more, but they are light and hardly noticeable. The everyday person wouldn’t notice, but to me, each one is like a piece of art I want to memorize on her body.

“It’s not called a peace offering if you’re just going to tease me, Maverick,” she says with a raspy voice. Her hands trail up my arms to my chest and then around my neck as she slides her fingers into my hair, pulling me down to her. Her lips are soft when she kisses me, but once she slips her tongue into my mouth, my body responds immediately.

Eleven years ago, Trixie graduated Harvard Law, turned down a job offer from one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston, and headed home to Whynot to open her own firm. Not only did she leave behind the big city, but she also left her boyfriend of three years. And just so we’re clear… that would be me.

So what am I doing in Whynot at this very moment? It seems Trixie needs help with a legal case and for some insane reason, she called on me for assistance. I’ve been in town for five minutes, and I’m every bit as out of place as I feel. Trixie is all sweet, southern curves to my tailored suits and high-priced haircuts. It’s a culture clash of north versus south and about the only thing we have in common is our physical attraction to each other.

But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.

Suddenly, my pole jerks in my hands, and I instinctively snap the tip upward into the air. I feel something catch as the pole bends in an extreme arc.

“Holy shit,” I exclaim as I sit up straighter in the boat.

“That’s a big one,” Pap says, and Trixie laughs with delight. “Now… keep the rod up and reel it in.”

I plant my feet hard on the bottom of the boat and crank my catch in. My heart is racing because I don’t know what’s on the other end of the line, but it feels massive. I reel and reel and reel, watching as the end of the line in the water comes closer to the boat. I see a flash of grayish-brown thrash at the top of the water before the fish dives back down deep, but I keep cranking that spinner.

Pap sets his pole aside, grabs a net, and leans forward, balancing himself with a hand on the edge of the boat. I give another mighty heave on the spinner’s handle, and the fish comes to the surface.

“Oh, my God,” Trixie practically shrieks with excitement as her feet come off the edge of the boat. She leans closer to me. “He caught Ol’ Mud. I was knee high to a grasshopper the last time someone managed that.”

Pap grunts in acknowledgment, scooping the net into the water under my catch. He proceeds to pull it up, and in it is the biggest, ugliest fish I’ve ever seen in my life. Not that I’ve seen many up close and personal. I mean, I went snorkeling in the Cayman’s once, but those were all brightly colored fish with long, flowing tails. This thing is indeed the color of mud, with enormous eyes that seem to be rolling and long whiskers sticking out from around its mouth.

“What the hell is that thing?” I ask in horror.

“That’s a flathead catfish,” Pap says as he hauls him in and carefully maneuvers him out of the net with practiced efficiency. He pulls the hook out of the corner of the fish’s mouth and then holds him up for me to see.

The fish is massive and thrashes in Pap’s hands, but he grips him firmly before pushing him my way. “Want to hold him?”

I recoil slightly. “Um… no, but thank you.”

Trixie snickers behind me. “Oh, God… ain’t he precious?”

Pap snorts but doesn’t give me too much shit. “Suit yourself. Take a picture, Trixie.”

I turn in my seat and watch Trixie pull her phone from her pocket. Pap scoots closer to me and holds the damn fish up over my shoulder—which, in addition to fish, smells like mud too—and chuckles, “Smile for the camera, city boy.”

Trixie holds the phone out, grinning as she takes a picture of Pap and me as he holds that slimy, nasty-looking catfish. I know my manhood took a bit of a ding with my refusal to hold it, and I can’t say I’m thrilled that Trixie thinks I’m precious, but screw it… not going to apologize for my failure to bond with that smelly thing.

To my amazement, Pap leans over the side of the boat and slides it gently into the water while murmuring, “Until we meet again, Ol’ Mud.”

“You let it go?” I ask incredulously. While the thing was scary looking as all get out, I’ve eaten catfish before and it’s delicious. I have also witnessed Catherine’s cooking firsthand, and I bet she’d do heavenly things to that fish. Besides… I thought that’s what you did in the south. You hunted shit and you ate it.

“Ol’ Mud’s been in this lake for years,” Trixie says by way of explanation. “He’s rarely been caught, but we always release him. He’s like an icon around here. The fact that you caught him, and in the morning, is amazing.”

“Really?” I ask, a small pattering of pride thumping in my chest.

“Flathead’s normally sleep during the day, usually down under lake debris,” Pap explains. “They’re easiest to catch at night, but I don’t think Ol’ Mud’s ever been caught in daylight hours, right, Trix?”

“Right, Pap,” she says and then winks at me. “We might turn you into a southern boy yet, Ry.”

They once loved each other back when life was simple and being an adult wasn’t an issue. What was once a beautiful love turned into a devastating heartbreak. Are they brave enough to give it another try now that life is complicated and ugly? Because while their circumstances once tore them apart, love was never their problem.
KYLE
Eighteen years old when she broke my heart. Eighteen years old when I left to join the Marine Corps, knowing when I got back, she would not be there waiting for me. I never expected to see her ten years later, all heartbroken and humbled. I just don’t know if I can go there again with Adria Green. She’s short, sassy, and even more stubborn than she was when we were kids – and painfully more beautiful. So why do I find myself completely and inexplicably drawn to her? Because what drew me to her back then has been reignited without my permission, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to douse the old flame. I’ve already lost half a leg. I can’t lose my heart, too.

ADRIA
Am I to blame for my actions when I was just a kid and starting out at life? I was stupid back then, but I’m not stupid anymore. I’m educated, confident, and after my ex-fiancé cheated on me and left, I’m even more careful with who’s going to get my heart. Seeing Kyle Adams after all these years made my heart stop and then almost drop out of my chest. He’s even more gorgeous and considerably more built than he was when we were in high school – despite the injury. I’m just not sure I can go forward now, either.
Beyond Love is book 4 in the Imperfect Heroes Series, and is for readers 18+. Contains adult situations, language, and minor scenes of war.

I parked in my designated spot in my apartment complex’s lot and unbuckled Luke, pulling him out and setting him down. I handed him his backpack and held his hand as we made our way to our first-floor apartment. Lucy followed faithfully at my side.

“Can we go swimming, Dad?” he asked, eyeing the pool.

“You calling me Dad again?” I asked, smiling. He could always make me smile even when I didn’t want to.

“Okay, Daddy. Can we?”

I ruffled his hair and said, “No, let’s get something to eat. I’m starving. Aren’t you?”

“What’s for dinner?” he asked as I looked down at him, and then my keyring to get my house key ready.

We rounded the corner to my unit and I heard, “Chinese takeout.”

I looked up to see Adria sitting on my front step’s mat, sitting cross-legged, wearing shorts and a tank top. Beside her sat two white bags with takeout containers in them.

I froze for a minute, and then a huge grin spread across my face.

Luke froze. “Who’s that, Daddy?” he whispered.

Adria stood and walked to meet us. Crouching down, she said, “Hi, Luke. I’m Adria. We met at Duke’s house at the barbeque a few weeks ago. Do you remember that?”

He shook his head and looked up at me.

“Say hello, son.”

“Hi,” he said, a small smile on his face.

She put her hand out. “It’s very nice to meet you. Your dad has so many nice things to say about you.”

Luke’s eyes got big and he looked up at me, then back at her. “Really?”

She tapped his little nose and stood up, laughing quietly. “Yep.”

I couldn’t stop staring at Adria with my son. It was beautiful. She was beautiful, and he wasn’t being his usual shy self around her.

She picked up the bags and said, “Do you like Chinese food?”

He looked up at me. “What’s that?”

“You will love it,” I told him. I’d never given him any since we rarely ate out.

He smiled.

I opened the door to the apartment and prayed it was clean. Well, clean enough. I kept it picked up most of the time, but today had been such a blur I couldn’t remember.

Adria wasted no time finding the kitchen and opening up the bags. I sort of felt like it was weird that she was here without any notice or explanation, but knowing what I knew about her, I knew she would tell me. I was touched by her generosity nonetheless.

“Luke, go put your backpack in your room, then go wash your hands, please.”

“Okay, Daddy.”

As he disappeared around the corner, I went behind Adria and purposely pressed my body against her backside as she attempted to open the high cabinets to find plates. Easily opening one and pulling out two plates for us, I placed them in front of her on the counter.

With a smirk on her face, she turned around and looked up at me. “I had that.”

“No, you didn’t,” I replied.

“Okay, I didn’t,” she whispered as she stared up at me with curious brown eyes.

I pointed to the food. “Are you always this spontaneous?”

She shook her head. “Harper told me where you went today. I didn’t want you to be alone tonight. Whether you are celebrating or sad, I wanted to be here. It just felt right.”

Damn, did she know me or what? “I’m kinda speechless,” I said, not breaking eye contact, but pulling back from her even though I didn’t want to. I grabbed three forks from the drawer, and Luke’s favorite plastic Batman plate from another cabinet, and set them on the small table I kept in the kitchen.

“I’m hungry,” my son said, coming into the kitchen.

“Have a seat and I’ll get you some food.”

He went over to the chair he always sat in and waited for us. I poured him a glass of milk first and set it in front of him.

“I don’t have much to drink here,” I said to her, “but you can take a look.”

She sat down next to Luke and said, “Water is fine.”

I nodded and poured two glasses of ice water and went to join them at the table.

As we feasted on lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and dumplings, I looked at the way Adria was interacting with my son and all thoughts of Marissa, the lawyer, and the five hundred bucks I’d had to drop today melted into a happiness that spread across my face.
After dinner, I gave Luke a quick bath and put him to bed. It was a little early, but I’d been at the lawyer’s office longer than I’d thought and had gotten home a little later than usual.

I closed my son’s door, leaving it cracked, and went into the kitchen to find Adria putting the leftovers into my small fridge and throwing away excess trash. She set the dishes near the sink and I gently grabbed her wrist to keep her from turning on the faucet. “Leave the dishes.”

She gave me a half-smile. “If you say so.”

After watching her nice legs and luscious plump ass walking around my small kitchen, I really could not form an intelligible word, so I decided words were not necessary. I wrapped my long arm around her waist and pulled her into my body. Without a word, I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers. I was rewarded with her snaking her arms around my neck, and when I licked the seam of her lips, she opened them for me like a good girl. I groaned and pushed myself into her harder, backing her up onto the kitchen counter until she had nowhere else to go. Reaching around, I firmly gripped both ass cheeks and hoisted her up so she had no choice but to put both legs around my waist.

Her breaths were heady and fast when she came up for air between kisses, and I couldn’t get enough. I bit down on her bottom lip, and I moaned when she sucked my tongue into her mouth and played with it.

My dick was so hard it was almost painful. The heat from between her legs and the way she grinded on it was going to make me lose it, and that was the last thing I wanted. I needed to take things slow, explore her naked body with a deliberate appreciation that would make it unforgettable for the both of us. Breaking the kiss, I reached up to cup my hand along her small jaw, and with the pad of my thumb, I ran it across her chin and said, “I’ve missed you so much.”

Her once-hooded eyes got big and she smiled. “You have no idea how much I’ve thought about you over the past ten years.”

I grinned. “And that is why I want to thank you for the Chinese food, and also let you know that you need to leave.”

TBRreview.pngOk confession time, one of my secret loves is the injured male/female nurse/PT or whatever genre. So this was a given. Plus I just love the name Adria.

Kyle and Adria aka Ky and Little Flower, are an amazing couple of teenagers. Kyle wants to enlist in the Marines and Adria can’t handle that, so they break up.

Fast forward 10 years where Kyle and Adria are back in each other’s lives and might have a second chance.

I haven’t read this series but I definitely will be. I loved the characters and how flawed but real they were.

She’s written over a dozen books and short stories that contain both contemporary/new adult and paranormal romance that are a little bit badass, a little heart-wrenching, and sort of funny (to her, anyway). “It’s got twists and turns, it’s steamy and sweet. It’s a fast read and can standalone.” – OMG Reads

Chapter 1

Marcie lifted the long-necked bottle to her lips and drank a sip of the warm, stale beer she’d been nursing for the past forty-five minutes. As the tepid liquid filled her mouth, she cringed and forced herself to swallow. The desire to finish the beverage had long fled, but she needed something to keep her hands and mind occupied. With a small grunt of disgust, she set it down on the table and let her gaze wander around the smoke-filled bar.

She couldn’t imagine any place she would rather be less than she wanted to be in this bar, back in her hometown of Crystal Rock, Arizona, sitting next to the boyfriend she desired about as much as the lukewarm beer. It wasn’t his fault. Timing sucked. They’d only been dating for two weeks when her mother passed. Really, she hadn’t been all that interested in him, but it was nice to have something to do a few nights a week. Ugh, that sure sounded shallow. Poor Tanner had tried to coax her onto his lap, but that would have made her look dependent on him for comfort. And she wasn’t. She barely knew the guy.
For the first time in ten years, Marcie had made the trip back to Arizona. She’d returned to bury her mother, a miserable woman who spent the majority of Marcie’s childhood stoned and in bed with one random man or another. They hadn’t spoken in almost five years, and while she wasn’t surprised to learn of her mother’s passing, Marcie was truly shocked to discover what little the woman possessed was left to her only child.
A second shock came when her new boyfriend—if she could even give him the strong label—Tanner, offered to accompany her from Seattle to the unassuming town of Crystal Rock, claiming he wanted to assist in settling her mother’s affairs. The show of support touched her, and in a weak moment she caved to his request. Had she been in her right mind, she’d have turned him down. His help wasn’t necessary. She could handle the trip and her mother’s meager affairs on her own, as she handled everything else life threw at her. Independently. Alone. Lonely.

But Tanner insisted, and for the first time in years, she relented and allowed someone the possibility to take care of her. And she’d been secretly relieved by the knowledge that she wouldn’t have to make the journey alone. That was until he invited two of his friends, and turned the trip into a bro’s trip complete with a two-night stop in Vegas.

From the moment Tanner hit the gas and left Seattle in the dust, aspects of his personality she hadn’t yet been introduced to began to emerge. Unfortunately, he transformed into an overgrown frat boy would couldn’t see past his next drink. Even his buddies Cameron and Billy seemed surprised by his slide back to his college days. What did she expect? This is what she got for giving a man she just met some control over her life.

His party mentality wasn’t impressive and she wasn’t they type to overlook poor behavior on the off chance it would improve with time. Nope, she was done with him.
The kind thing would probably be to just inform him tonight that they were through, but her brain was fried and she’d much rather do it back in Seattle, and not in a town where more bad than good memories lurked around every corner.
So, she’d end it as soon as they returned, and she’d be on her own once again. And wasn’t that just how she liked it? It wasn’t the eighteen hundreds. She could and would take care of herself. Too much of her childhood was spent afraid and cowering behind the protection and care of two very special friends. Now, she lived how she wanted without depending on anyone for anything.

Fatigue weighed heavy on Marcie’s shoulders. She’d spent eight hours, today, sifting through a run-down trailer full of tragic childhood memories, and that was after a very simple and unattended burial service. Spending another night with three men who were happiest when in whichever bar was closest was about as appealing as a trip to the gynecologist.
Glancing down at her lap, she smoothed the front of the simple, yet elegant, black skirt she’d worn with a black blouse to the lonely burial. Marcie had been the only person in attendance, unable to wake a hung-over Tanner before she had to leave. Her prostitute mother hadn’t had true friends, and alienated her family, so Marcie was it.

Tanner downed his own drink then grabbed her abandoned beer to polish that off as well. He clanked her beer bottle on the table and she jolted, lost in her own melancholy thoughts. “Damnit, Marcie, this is piss warm. Go grab me a new one from the bar.” As he spoke he gave an unaffectionate tug on her short blonde hair. “I gotta take a piss. Where the hell’s the john?” He glanced around the crowded bar. “Jesus, there’s so many people here it’s gonna take me a year to get to the damn can.”
Marcie shot him a death look, but refused to allow him the satisfaction of seeing her rub the sore spot on her head. Tanner had been in a rotten mood all day, complaining about being stuck in Crystal Rock with nothing to do while Marie dealt with her mother’s personal effects. God forbid he offered to help. Not that she need it. She handled it without him. If she had enough energy to deal with the fallout, she’d just walk away tonight, but she couldn’t handle a confrontation right now.
Relief was almost immediate as she left the three men at the table. The one and only reason she followed his command to grab a beer was to get away from them a few minutes. Tanner was right about one thing. The bar was jam packed. It took quite a bit of fancy maneuvering to work her way to the bar without rubbing up on every body in the place.
With a heavy sigh, she took a seat at the bar in no rush to grab the attention of the cute bartender.
A commotion from the opposite side of the dimly lit bar caught her attention, and she turned in time to see a group of large, gruff bikers enter the establishment. Growing up in Crystal Rock, there was no way to escape knowledge of the No Prisoners motorcycle club. They ran the town, and had always patronized Black’s as their bar of choice.

No surprise, the tattooed men in leather were accompanied by a gaggle of women with tiny skirts and even smaller tops, leaving less than nothing to the imagination.
“What’ll it be, darlin’?” the young, thin man slinging bar asked with a flirty smile, most likely hoping to garner a larger tip. A bull ring ran through his septum and his hands resting on the surface of the bar had the words game over tattooed across the knuckles.
“Another please,” she said, indicating the bottle she’d returned to the bar.
“Sure thing, sweetness. Be right back.” He winked as he turned to grab her beer. Shaggy dark hair stuck out from under a backwards baseball cap and his tan was nicely on display around his dark grey wife beater. Obviously, this was a casual establishment.
She smiled, charmed by his friendly nature. Crystal Rock boasted an eclectic mix of people from all walks of life. A few seconds later, he returned with the uncapped beer and another flirty wink. Marcie paid and swiveled on the stool. Looks like she’d stalled long enough. Time to rejoin the bromance at her table.
“Holy shit! Marcie? Marcie Barringer?” The voice was familiar, but she couldn’t quite place it.
Her head snapped around, and she came face-to-face, well face to chest—the man was tall as a building—with Dylan Parker.
“Dylan?” she asked, unable to keep the delight from her voice. Without thinking, she launched herself off the stool, landed against his hard chest with a grunt, and wrapped her arms tight around the body that was no longer that of a young boy, but a full-grown man. And a hot one at that.
He seemed just as elated to have run into her, and returned the embrace with gusto. “I can’t believe it, Marce,” he said, gripping her arms and holding her away from his body. He raked her up and down with his eyes. “Damn girl you grew up into something gorgeous. I like that pixie haircut. Fits you.”

Marcie blushed, but couldn’t remove the giant grin from her face. She’d known Dylan for as long as she could remember. Without him, she may not have survived her childhood, at least not in one piece. Neither had any siblings, and, being six years older, Dylan had appointed himself her surrogate older brother and protector.

He was the one person from the childhood that she could remember truly caring about her. It was a sibling kind of love, and she hadn’t seen him since the day she left Crystal Rock almost ten years prior. The boy grew up in to one hell of a sexy man, and apparently was now a member of the motorcycle club, if the leather cut he wore was any indication.

She could barely believe he was here, in front of her. Time melted away at being near her surrogate big brother and she felt like the past ten years had never occurred. He was tall, muscular, and deadly looking, with dark, almost black hair and chiseled features that made him look every bit the dangerous man he probably was now. The thought made her laugh. She knew way too much about him to ever consider him a danger, at least not to her.

Damn it was good to see him.

“I can’t believe I ran into you, Dylan,” she said, giving him another quick squeeze.
“It’s Striker now, babe.” An arrogant smirk played across his lips.
“Striker?”

“Handle given to me by the club, on account of my impressive skills.” A teasing glint lit his eyes and he bounced on the balls of his feet, fists up in a boxer’s stance. He was forever getting into fights as a kid. As he grew into his teens, he put that energy to good use learning to box, and becoming quite proficient in the sport.

“Striker it is then,” Marcie returned.

“What are you doing here, hon? How long are you in town?” he asked, genuine concern filling his voice.

That concern was so familiar, a warmth she hadn’t experienced in far too long bloomed in Marcie’s chest. As long as he’d known her, he’d been concerned about her wellbeing, and at the time she’d been too young to appreciate the rarity of a man who wanted nothing more from her than her happiness. Marcie shrugged. “My mom passed. I’m here for a few days dealing with the details.”

Striker grimaced. He’d had a front row seat to the shit show that was Marcie’s childhood, and knew full well what a deadbeat her mother had been. “Shit, Marce. I wish I’d known. I’d have offered to help you. Is there anything I can do now?”

“No, Striker, there isn’t much left and I can handle it.”

He slung an arm around her shoulders and steered her back to the bar. “Well then, we at least need to have a drink or ten, while you’re here. Wait until Hook sees you here. He’s gonna flip his shit.”
She raked her memory but came up with nothing. “Hook?”
Striker laughed. “My bad, honey. Man, I forget how long you’ve been away. Remind me to yell at you about that later.” He gave her a playful scowl. “TJ.”
Every last drop of saliva dried up until her mouth could rival the arid desert. TJ and Dylan, Striker, had been inseparable as teenagers and if she’d loved Striker as a brother, her tender young heart and innocent body had loved TJ in a very different way.

“Oh, there he is.” Striker gestured toward the end of the bar. “Hey, Hook,” he hollered over the music and loud chatter, getting the other man’s attention. “Get your ass over here. Bet you a lap dance you won’t’ believe who’s here!”
Marcie was not in any way prepared for the punch to the gut she experienced when she got her first look at Hook in ten years.
Holy hotness. The man was the sexiest thing she’d ever laid eyes on. The boy had been every teenage girl’s fantasy, but the man, the man was more than she’d dared to fantasize about.

Every feeling she’d ever had for the bad boy she lusted after as a teen came rushing back full force when that sinful mouth lifted in a wide, genuine smile.

Hot Addiction - About the book

HotAddiction_800x1200 First glance into Hot Addiction by Lynn Raye Harris.

Five years ago…

Dexter Davidson checked his watch for the thousandth time that morning. It was nearing noon and his bride-to-be was over an hour late. His father stood in the chancel, his rented tuxedo making him appear distinguished and genteel rather than rough and worn like the farmer he was. But the look on his face was what killed Dex the most. It was one of pity and a growing resignation.

“Fuck this,” Dex growled as he clenched his jaw tight and walked down the aisle, between the rows of pews where the guests waited for the ceremony to start. The chapel doors were open to the outside because it was springtime and warm. But it was also raining. A soft, gentle rain, but rain nonetheless.

Perhaps the rain had caused a delay. Dex stood in the open door and took his phone from his pocket. Annabelle still hadn’t answered his texts. He sent another one, just in case, and felt his heart shrivel just a little bit more when no answer came.

He tried calling but it went to voicemail without even ringing. “Belle,” he said, his throat tight and his eyes stinging, “where are you, baby? I’m worried. Please let me know you’re safe. If you’ve changed your mind, it’s okay. Just let me know.”

It wasn’t okay if she’d changed her mind, but what else could he say? Annabelle Quinn had been his girl for the past four years. He’d fallen madly in love with her in an instant. He’d known her most of his life, had ignored her for much of it because she was his little sister’s best friend, but one day, pow!, she’d smiled at him the way she had a million times before—and he was done for. He’d been hers from that moment forward.

And now they were supposed to be getting married. He’d come home on leave from the Army at Christmas and asked her to marry him. She’d said yes. She and his sister had planned everything while he went back to Afghanistan and did his best to stay alive. He didn’t know how long he stood there before he felt a presence beside him.

“I’m sorry, Dex.” Katie put a hand on his arm. “She’s not coming.”

Release Blitz ~ Mister Moneybags ~ by ~ Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

MMB banner 1

IMG_5273I met Bianca in an elevator.

She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.

The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.

She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.

Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn’t appreciate the simple things in life.

So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn’t want it to end.

I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.

I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.

I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.

I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.

And she was falling for two men.

Only, both men were me.

And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.

Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for what came after.

All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Release Blitz ~ Chasing Treasure ~ by ~ Jody A. Kessler

Title – Chasing Treasure: A Granite Lake Romance
Author: Jody A. Kessler
Genre: Contemporary Romance
ON SALE FOR $0.99 APRIL 6-12
After spending the winter apart, Treasure can’t stop thinking about her former paramedic partner, Bodie Everett. But, with her unfortunate history of dating, and an overwhelming fear of commitment, Treasure doesn’t know how she’ll react when Bodie returns from training at Wilderness School. Or, if the irresistible and sexy, Bodie, wants to continue where they left off back in December. With a flooded apartment and a ridiculous suspension from her job as a paramedic, Treasure heads to Granite Lake and back to her childhood home—a rundown apartment and a garage packed full of motorcycles.
Now that Bodie has new Search and Rescue certifications under his belt, he’s ready to move forward with his life. He hopes that includes a relationship with Treasure. After an unforgettable night together, he can’t seem to shake her from his head or his heart. He’s ready to take their friendship to the next level, but his intruding family members have their own agenda. Opening a brewpub with his brothers, joining the Mountain Division of Search and Rescue, and the surprise return of his ex-fiancé complicate and distract Bodie from chasing and catching Treasure.

“Exciting, steamy, romance that’s heartfelt and entertaining!” – New York Times Bestselling Author Nancy Segovia

Treasure rolled over and admired, not for the first time, Court’s hard, delicious deltoid muscles. They capped broad shoulders and flowed seamlessly down to meet bulging biceps. His muscles elicited a baser need to climb on top of him, squeeze him between her thighs and stroke every inch of his incredible arms—and the rest of him too. His triceps were ripped. His forearms could have belonged to Popeye. She glanced at his chest and almost drooled at the sight of the smooth bronze pecs and rippling abs.
Court caught her attention the moment he entered the bar last night. She’d been chatting with friends and he quickly became the game of the evening. She supposed she’d won. In all honesty, her girlfriends hadn’t been as driven to win the prize as strongly as she had. Treasure knew going to Paradiso would more than likely provide a new boy-toy, or two, and she thought she was in the mood to fool around with someone new.
She hadn’t exactly meant to end up in bed with him, but she hadn’t been opposed to it either. Now, she was in Court’s brand new condo wondering where her clothes were while trying not to berate herself for sleeping with someone she just met. What did she even know about this guy? He told her he was new in town, which explained why she and her friends had never seen him before. He said he moved to Reno for a job and his last name was Prescott. Court Prescott. That should have been a huge flag to their sexual incompatibility. His name sounded ridiculously pretentious to Treasure even though he didn’t come across that way. And who names their kid Court anyway? It reminded her of basketball or tennis. Which brought on the image of balls and that made her snicker as she mentally renamed him Court Tennis Balls Prescott. Yeah, balls had definitely been involved last night, she thought, and knew it was juvenile, but ball jokes never got old. Except for actual old balls and that was unpleasant to think about.
Lying next to him, Treasure slid Court the side eye. This wasn’t the first time she’d done something like this, but it was the first time she regretted it with such whole-hearted distaste. He’d been a sloppy and unrefined lover. The thought of kissing him made her queasy. His lips were beautiful but had no finesse. She should have known after the first kiss sex with this man would be disappointing, but she’d pursued him and kept the foreplay going with the hope that the night would get better with a little coaching. It hadn’t. She cringed remembering the lackluster roll in the sack and his less than stellar performance. For all his good looks, the man had no moves. Was it the tequila shots? Some men couldn’t handle their liquor and their women in the same night. In her own experience, she thought alcohol improved her sex drive, lowered her inhibitions, and generally made naked encounters with men much more exciting. She’d have to rethink this approach. Either way, in her current state of undress, the insufficient stimulation after they left Paradiso clung to her like slime-coated cellophane.
She inched across the mattress and paused, listening for a change in Court’s breathing. If she could sneak away without waking him, it would save her a headache. She never wanted to see him again. Uggg, she groaned to herself when he rolled over and his hand brushed her side.
His eyelids fluttered before opening. The whites of his eyes were bloodshot. Treasure swallowed and wished she had pretended to be asleep. A sly grin crept across his face. His body had originally attracted her, but those damned dimples sealed the deal.
The dimples reminded her of Bodie and sent her mind reeling with vivid memories of her friend and work partner. When you watched Bodie smile, you had to search for the dimples, like they were a secret hiding just below the surface. Bodie’s dimples weren’t as deep as Court’s, but Bodie’s were sexier. She wished she could see them now, damn it. Why was Bodie always on her mind?

“Hi. I won our bet. You owe me a fantasy.”
“Hi to you too,” Bodie said on the other end of the line. “Where are you?”
“Granite Lake. I, umm,” Shivers crept over her skin after mentioning Granite Lake with Bodie’s voice in her ear. She wanted a replay of their night together. She needed him triply bad after her experience with Court.
“Hmm….” he hummed into the phone.
She didn’t know if any sexual innuendo existed in the smooth purr coming out of him, or if it was the sound of curiosity being answered, but her inner thighs shivered. The phone beeped its low battery warning. Tamping down her lust, she said, “It’s not as great as it sounds. I have a mess to clean up at my dad’s old place. And I have a disaster at work to handle when I return to civilization. Cheer me up before my phone dies.”
“No charger?”
“Uh-uh. I rushed to get to the mountains and accidentally left it behind.”
“What’s going on at the ambulance barn?”
“I don’t want to get into it.”
“That bad?” he asked.
“Sort of.” And worse, she thought to herself. “Working with you was a thousand times better.”
“About that…” he said.
Treasure filled the gap. “You’re a total punk. A paramedic demigod compared to what I’ve been dealing with.” She didn’t want to rehash her time spent with Court. Luckily Bodie shifted gears.
“Boosting up my ego again? You better watch yourself Treasure or I’m going to think you’re a nice girl or something.”
“I can be nice. When I want to.” Treasure walked into the apartment and curled up on the couch.
“You may not be so kind when I tell you my news.”
“I’m not sure I can handle any more bad news today. Can’t you just tell me your naughtiest fantasy before my phone dies? I need something tantalizing to get me through the night.”
“You’re so not ready for one of my fantasies.”
“Now you have to tell me. I promise I can handle it.”
“I don’t think so. Besides, I didn’t agree you won,” he said.
“I did. But since you object, I’ll tell you a secret.”
She almost said, ‘I can’t wait to see you again. You’ve totally ruined my chances at ever having a worthwhile orgasm and you need to help me out immediately.’ Instead, she bit her lip. They weren’t a couple and she didn’t know what he thought about jumping into a relationship. “I miss you, Bodie. Work was pure hell this week.”
He stayed silent for a beat too long. Treasure regretted her confession. Speaking her emotions was difficult. She’d rather have a root canal in most cases. The secret she shared wouldn’t be hard for any normal person to say aloud, but it felt a little too real for Treasure. In the next moment, she erased her regret. She wanted to be truer to herself where Bodie was concerned.
“Now it’s my turn. I miss you too. I’m fantasizing about a hot day.” He paused again.
Treasure’s dour outlook perked up a bit. She liked when he said “fantasize,” and “hot.”
“You and me,” he continued. “I want to take the boat out on the lake. You up for it?”
“Definitely,” she said.
“Good.”
He didn’t continue like she hoped.
“That’s it? That’s your fantasy?”
“No. Of course there’s more. It has to be hot enough to swim. We’ll bring beer. Good beer. IPA beer. And chips and donuts. Why you like those awful mini powdered donuts is beyond me.”
She smiled into the phone. “And mini cherry pie.”
“Yeah, those too. And I can’t wait to put my hands on you…” he paused for affect.
Treasure held her breath imagining his hands on her body.
“And push your ass into the water.”
“Nice. Real nice,” she said sarcastically. “Your fantasy is lacking…umm,” she paused, searching for the right words. “Zing. Zest. Color. Sexiness. Give me something to warm me up and keep me company while I sleep.”
“What are you talking about? My fantasy is perfect.” He sounded offended. “I’ll let you wrap your hands around my…fishing pole if you want.”
“Fishing pole better be code for something else, Bodie Everett,” she warned, and laughed when she heard him snickering.

“Really gripping start to the book had me hooked right away- I had to know what was going to happen!” – Reader Review

From the earliest age I was a born storyteller.

Ask my parents and they will tell you I had a gift for making a simple event seem like an elaborate one. Purposely? No. Innocently? Yes. It was my imaginary world that initially led me to believe I wanted to be an actor. All of that role playing and living in fantasy… it was an obvious direction for me. However, becoming quite uncomfortable with the limelight quickly saw that dream diminish.

Over the years I turned my world of fantasy into stories, and eventually began writing them down. Before I knew it, ‘Cut’ had been completed.

When I am not busy writing my next story, I am a working mum, housewife and sometimes hockey wag 🙂 In other words, probably some kind of circus act who specialises in juggling 😉

I hope you enjoy my blog, where I will be posting thoughts, other books I am currently reading and even sneak peeks of my novels. I encourage any feedback, comments or direct messages via my contact page should anyone wish to get in touch.

I am so thrilled to be sharing my journey and hope you enjoy my stories as much as I enjoy writing them.

Dream often. Believe always.

An assassin . . . that’s what I am.

I’m Wade Chandler by day and a killer at night. I get the job done no matter the cost. Not only do I hunt people for the FBI, but I’m also the owner of Chandler Enterprises, one of the top companies in the southeast.

When Brina Carmichael – daughter of the former president – wants my business advice, it’s hard to resist her long legs and seductive smile. One thing leads to another and now I’m in too deep.

I can’t let her know what I am, but I’ve never wanted a woman the way I want her.

However, harboring secrets comes at a price and I have a feeling she’s keeping some of her own. Especially, when my next mission leads me straight to her. Turns out she’s not who I thought she was.

Standing at the receptionist’s desk, I waited to hear the verdict. Would Wade see me or not? When I heard his answer, I breathed a sigh of relief. I didn’t want my stupidity to ruin my shop’s chances at success.
The receptionist smiled up at me. “You can go back now, Ms. Carmichael. His office is the last one on the right.”
“Thank you,” I replied with a smile of my own.
Pulse pounding in my ears, I walked down the hall to Wade’s office. I had a folder of my designs tucked under my arm. Hopefully, it’d be enough to persuade him. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on his door.
“Come in,” he called out, his voice making me shiver.
I hated how this man made me feel like that. It’d been over a week and I could still feel the way he touched every square inch of my body. I wasn’t a needy woman, but he made me want more. This is business, nothing more.
Head held high, I opened the door. Wade was at his desk, leaning back in his chair, all cool and confident, dressed in his expensive suit with his brown hair perfectly coifed. Definitely not a bundle of nerves, like I was. “Mr. Chandler, it’s good to see you again.”
His brows lifted. “Likewise. Although I’d probably believe it more if you hadn’t run out on me the last time.”
And there it was.
Biting my lip, I shut the door. I couldn’t tell if he was angry, or didn’t care. “Thought I’d save you the trouble,” I confessed. “We both had a little too much to drink that night. And let’s face it, it was either going to be me or you. And I prefer not to be the one left behind.”
“Neither do I,” he said in all seriousness. “So, what brings you here?”
