Release Blitz ~ Pretty Reckless ~ by ~ Jane Anthony

Title: Pretty Reckless
Author: Jane Anthony
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 22, 2017
Special Price: $0.99

Addiction: the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity.

Love: feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to (someone)

Amazing how two words with vastly different definitions can have the same adverse effect on the spirit. I may be an addict, but I’m no longer foolhardy enough to be addicted to one man. No, this girl finds her comfort in thirst quenching liquid — it dulls the pain caused by tainted love.

True love may exist, but not for me.

Reckless: without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action

The guy I used to be is a distant memory. I left him in the past, vowing never to be that man again. But never say never, right? This time, I became him out of need. Need for her. She only let me in assuming I enjoyed being on the outside, at arm’s length. But the more I fight the desire brewing in my veins, the harder she is to resist.

Wrong for each other, but carved from the same stone.

He is my rock.

She is my air.

But rocks shatter, and if you get high enough, air becomes unbreathable.

No matter how good it might seem, getting wrapped up in each other is pretty reckless…

Without looking up, she lifts her feet, allows me to sit, and then places them over my lap. I watch her scan the small screen, the lighted background shining against her dark brown irises. Every few seconds, she swipes to the left. “What are you doing?”

“Just messing around online.”

I lean in just in time to see her swipe again. “Are you on a dating site?” The contempt in my voice is hard to hide. Kat and I have spent every moment together, pretty much, since the day we met. The idea that she’ll eventually end up dating someone never crossed my mind.

“It’s just Tinder.”

“You really feel like you’re ready to start dating again?” Panic sits on my heart, stabbing at the meshy membrane with a dull fork. The thought of her even looking at another man makes me wants to go on a jealous rampage. She’s been living in my house for the past five weeks, crawling into my bed when she can’t fall asleep. Kat’s mine. Whether she knows it or not.

“Dating?” She pulls her hair down, and all of mine stand up. The faintest hint of juicy, ripened fruit wafts into my nostrils. Why couldn’t she smell like powder or flowers? Anything other than apples. Because of Kat, the mere thought of a Granny Smith stiffens my cock to an agonizing mass. If I don’t do something about this soon, I’m going to spend the rest of my life in analysis. “No. I’m just looking for a little release.”

I raise an eyebrow, watching her feverish swiping continue. “You’re looking for a booty call.”

Her gaze leaves her phone and locks on mine. “Not everyone’s a sex camel like you are, Chase. I can’t just store it in my lady humps and feed off it in tiny increments.”

“I’m not a sex camel.”

“You’re right. You’re more a like sexual terrorist. My coochie has been on the no-fly list since the day I met you, and right now, it just needs a little extra mileage. I’m not looking for anything more than that. So,” —she lifts her phone and waggles it back and forth— “Tinder.”

The corners of my mouth turn down. I focus on the television, pretending to watch the Kardashians fight when really, I’m imagining what it would be like to drag Kat into my room caveman-style and lock her away. I’m a selfish prick. I can’t have her, but I don’t want anyone else to have her either.

“Should I get my lips done?” From the corner of my eye, I see her pressing her fingertips against her puckered mouth as she watches the TV alongside me. “I want Khloe Kardashian lips.”

“Your lips are fine.”

“Word to the wise, Chase. Never tell a woman she’s fine. Fine is the kiss of death.”

I turn to look at her. Your lips are perfect. Two plump little pillows that would feel incredible sliding over my erection. “There’s not a thing about you I’d change.”

“You’re biased because you’re my friend.”

I just know what I like. “Scout’s honor.”

She rolls her eyes and looks back down at her phone. Swipe . . . swipe . . . swipe . . . all to the left. Then one to the right. My heart sinks.

“You right swiped.”

“Ew, are you watching me? Creeper alert!”

I hold out my hand. “Let me see.”

“No.”

“Come on! Show me!” I reach out to grab the phone, but she jerks her arm back.

“No way, Jose!” That innocent giggle wraps itself around my heart and travels to my dick in an instant. My laugh. My girl. Fuck Tinder.

Gobs of hysteric cackling erupt from her chest when I squeeze her knee with my fingers. She squirms and writhes, attempting to tear my grip from her leg. My free hand moves to her stomach. The phone falls to the floor and bounces across the carpet, long forgotten.

When I shift to my knee in an attempt to avoid a karate kick to the face, her arms shoot up and grasp my shirt, pulling me down against her. Frantic breath beats against my lips, her eyes wild with passion and fire.

Face to face, her body trembles. Raven strands of hair stick to her mouth. I run my fingers down her cheek and slip them behind her ear. Those lips. Those fucking amazing lips are so close to mine I can almost taste them.

So close . . .

The first taste is everything.

Release Blitz ~ Two Bit ~ by ~ L. Wilder

Title: Two Bit
Series: Satan’s Fury MC #7
Author: L. Wilder
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: August 22, 2017

Where I was his weakness, he became my strength.
Two Bit:
I’ve never been one to hold back. I’ve always said what was on my mind – right or wrong – and earned my name because of it. Giving my two cents hasn’t always been a good thing, but on one fateful night, it led me to her. She was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of girl. Undeniably beautiful. Fearless. Unforgettable.
I wanted her, but getting mixed up with her nearly cost me my life.
I tried to fight it. I tried to save myself from the flame… but after one touch, I knew there was no turning back.
Zoe would be mine.
Zoe:
Sometimes, you’ve got to hit rock bottom before you can find a way to move forward. Well, it’s time for me to find a way to move forward, because I’ve sure as hell hit rock bottom.
My father, the president of the Chosen Knights, died and left me a legacy I didn’t want. The club was supposed to be my family, but with my father gone, they’d gotten tangled up in things I wanted no part of. I wanted out, free from the torment, but I was stuck with no money and no place to go. I’d thought all hope was gone.
Until he walked into the bar.
As if he’d stepped out of my dreams, he was everything I’d ever wanted. Handsome. Courageous. Passionate.
Being with him came at a price – a price I wasn’t sure either of us could pay.
When sparks fly and ignite a war, who will be left standing in the ashes?

In my mind, I knew I shouldn’t be there with him, that it was too much of a risk, but my heart just wasn’t listening. Even though I’d tried to keep my guard up, spending more time with him had only made me more attracted to him. His sense of humor, his sexy smile, and that body that made my pulse race were just too hard to resist. He shifted his stance as he looked at me, his eyes glistening in the darkness. I knew what was coming and glanced away. Then, unable to resist the temptation, I looked back at him. He hovered over me as his eyes roamed seductively across my lips, and I could only sit there frozen with excitement and anticipation. I couldn’t remember ever wanting anything more than feeling his lips against mine, and the waiting was pure agony. I should’ve been patient, but I couldn’t help myself. I inched closer, leaning towards him, but he never made his move. Instead, he just stood there staring at me with lust-filled eyes. Without thinking, I mumbled, “Um… I thought you were going to kiss me?”

His eyes sparkled with mischief as he asked, “What made you think I was going to kiss you?”

Embarrassment washed over me. “I guess I was just hoping you would.”

His voice was low and raspy as he asked, “You want me to kiss you, Zoe?”

I nodded as I answered, “Yes.”

“Well, I’m not so sure that’s a good idea.”

“Why not?”

His dark eyes flickered with hunger as they dropped to my breasts. “I’m not sure I’ll be able to stop once I get started.”

I hesitated for only a moment before I replied, “Maybe I don’t want you to stop.”

“Zoe,” he whispered slowly, prolonging each letter of my name as if to savor them. His eyes locked on mine as he leaned forward, but just as his lips were about to touch mine, he stopped. My lips parted, and our breaths mingled. The electricity crackled between us, making my entire body hum. I eased forward, trying to close the distance between us, but he quickly leaned out of my reach. I look up at him with disappointment. “Seriously?”

He paused, not to refuse, but to appreciate the moment before slipping his hand behind my neck and pulling me forward, crashing his mouth against mine. His lips were soft and full as they covered mine. It was like they were made just for me. His warm, wet tongue ran across my bottom lip as his hands snaked down my back. They were strong and sure as he pulled me closer to him. His touch. His scent. His taste. Everything about him made entire body tingle with desire. I had longed for that moment. It had been all I could think about, but I could’ve never imagined it could feel so good, so right. My fingers raked through his hair as I moaned against his mouth.

Experts credit kissing with a wide range of health benefits such as reducing stress, improving relationship satisfaction, increasing sexual stimulation, and are you ready for this, reducing cholesterol! We all need to engage in a lot more kissing.

Here’s the first kiss between my lovers, Brian and Angel.

My San Francisco Highlander – First Kiss

“Brian. Brian, can you hear me? Please answer.” Panic assailed her at the thought of not finding him. “Dammit, Angus Brian Cameron, answer me right now!” Squawking seagulls offered the only reply.

Exhausted, she slumped against a tree and slid to the ground. “Where are you, Brian? Please answer me.” No one could possibly hear that whispered plea.

Eyes closed, she leaned against the tree and listened as the wind ruffled through branches overhead. Then she rolled over on her belly and scanned underneath the thick brush. There! A weird clump of greenish-blue and brown cloth peeked out between a wide tree trunk and a cluster of wild rhododendron bushes. She crawled under the prickly branches and found Brian rolled into a fetal position, unconscious, with streaks of blood staining the dirt. She touched his shoulder gently, afraid he’d wake thrashing and ready to fight. He didn’t move.

“Brian,” she shook his shoulder. “Angus Brian Cameron, wake up.” When he didn’t move, she lay down behind him, wrapped her arms around his muscled body, and carefully moved his hand from his ear.

“Brian, you have to wake up now.” He moaned and tucked tighter into a fetal position.

“That’s it. Wake up. It’s me, Angel. I need to take you back home. You are too big to carry, and I didn’t bring my car.” He moaned again but didn’t move.

She leaned up on one elbow and wiped sweat and dirt from his brow. She bent to his ear, “Brian, it’s Angel.”

She didn’t know what possessed her to kiss him, but she began to feather light kisses over his temple, down along his jaw and back up. When she reached his ear, she sucked his earlobe between her teeth and bit down. Lightly at first, and then she nipped his neck at the juncture of his shoulder, this time with more force.

He rolled over until she found herself partially pinned beneath his hard body, staring up into eyes as green as the overhead canopy. His burnt chestnut hair fell over his forehead in disarrayed clumps. Her breath stopped, but she didn’t flinch or turn away. She held his gaze, his beautiful, startled gaze. The hard body pressed against her chest and hips did strange things to her insides. He dipped his head and pressed a light brush of lips over her mouth, then glazed her lips with his tongue until she opened her mouth and welcomed his intrusion.

When he lifted his head for breath, she attempted a bit of levity, always her awkward first response to passion. “You’re not supposed to make a girl run all over creation trying to catch you.” She looked down at his leg pressed between her thighs where his erection hardened against her hip.

“And I think you’re bleeding all over my jeans.”

Amber’s Review

This was a book that was more of a self-exploration story than anything else. Samantha aka Sam is having a life crisis – she’s not 40 so it’s not midlife.

Sam has married Sheldon to get away from her toxic parents. Sheldon knows all about Sam’s family life and offers her a way out. Except Sheldon isn’t the man she thought he was and after a year of marriage, Sam and Sheldon separate.

I wish this story went into things a little more but it was an enjoyable read overall.
4 stars!

Advance Praise:

“Robinson concludes her Kavanagh Legends contemporary quartet (after Becoming a Legend) with a perfect blend of smoldering heat and gentle tenderness. After an accident, mixed martial arts fighter Quinn Kavanagh is placed under the care of physical therapist Keira Finley, his first and only love. She has no idea that she broke his heart when she left for college six years earlier. They’d been best friends since they were kids and never experienced life without each other’s unwavering support, but when Quinn didn’t ask her to stay, Keira needed to prove to herself that she could make it on her own. Quinn’s emotional scars run a lot deeper than the physical ones. He’s afraid to open himself up to Keira again, but with the encouragement of his boisterous, fun-loving family, he learns to give to himself as freely as he’s always given to others. This endearing story showcases Keira and Quinn’s easy banter, familiar warmth, and unquenchable heat. Quinn is the last Kavanagh brother to meet his mate, but subtle mentions of potential future love matches among their friends will leave readers eager for spin-offs.” – Publisher’s Weekly

Exclusive Excerpt:

“I’m leaving Legends now. My bags are packed, so be ready to go as soon as I get there,” Quinn said into the phone, his thick arm flexing as he twisted it to look at his watch.
“UK, here we come!” his older brother Kane shouted through the line. Quinn could practically see him fist-pumping the air. “You’re the best manager ever, Q!”
“Better believe it, Killer.” Quinn laughed before disconnecting the call and pushing his phone into a small interior pocket of the leather jacket that fit snugly over his chiseled back and broad shoulders.
Straddling his prized possession, a classic Ducati he’d kept in pristine condition for years, Quinn pulled on his helmet and gloves. His shaggy black hair peeked out from under the edges of the helmet, framing his face. Though covered in leather, glimpses of his love of ink showed on his neck and hands. What could not be seen was how the tattoos continued onto his chest and back as well. He loved the images, and each one had a special meaning to him—a falcon across his chest in midflight to symbolize his yearning for freedom, a dragon wrapping his arm to mark the fire in his blood, the Kavanagh family crest and motto in Gaelic on his back to represent family pride, along with phrases and names of people and moments that had made him who he was.
But the small metal bar through his eyebrow, or the piercings in his ear? Those were just for fun.
The motorcycle roared to life beneath him, easily heard from blocks away, as he pulled out onto the main street and headed for his parents’ house to meet his brother. He might not live there any longer, but he’d grown up in that house, and it would always feel like home. The whole neighborhood was his home; he knew everyone there, and everyone knew the Kavanaghs—for better or worse.
Quinn rode past the quaint houses in the Woodlawn area of the Bronx, going through a mental checklist of everything he needed to do before Kane competed next week. The International MMA Championship, held in London this year, was the biggest mixed martial arts competition in the world. Kane had won that championship the last two years, giving him the title of World’s Greatest MMA Fighter. Kane planned to win a third time next week and Quinn was eager to stand by his side when he did.
It’d been three short years since his brother had been thrust into the public spotlight after winning his first U.S. National Championship in Vegas. Quinn beamed proudly at the memory. Even though he wasn’t the one in the cage, he still felt a part of his brother’s success, having managed his entire career from the beginning. Kane’s win was Quinn’s win. It was a win for all the Kavanaghs—something they each really needed after everything the family had been through.
As he approached his parents’ street, he signaled with both his right hand and turn signal that he was switching lanes. A large truck whistled past, completely ignoring his signal. Quinn yanked the bike to the left, narrowly escaping a collision as his heart leapt into his throat.
Asshole.
Taking a deep breath to calm the adrenaline shooting through his body at the close call, Quinn carefully looked around, and once he’d confirmed that the right lane was clear, he again signaled his intentions. Sliding the bike into the right lane, he accelerated, eager to get to his childhood home.
That was his last thought before it happened.
His family.
How happy he was.
How much he loved his life.
A silver sedan parallel-parked against the curb nosed out into the right lane, directly in front of Quinn’s bike. His eyes widened as the air left his lungs, and he attempted to swerve around the sudden obstacle.
But there was no time. There was no space.
The front wheel of his bike slammed into the front wheel well of the sedan, and Quinn was weightless. He barely had a moment to blink before he was twisting through the air—over the handlebars, over his bike, over the sedan.
He heard the impact before he felt it.
His body skidding over the unforgiving pavement as wind rushed past him—a crunching, tumbling screech. Car horns firing, people screaming—or was he screaming? The echoes inside his helmet both muted and deafened.
But then he felt it, and it was fucking hell.
The crack of bones, a searing pain shooting through him. Every nerve ending in his body set on fire at the force of impact, consuming him till he was certain he couldn’t stand another second of it. Sliding across the pavement, his skin burned against the grating asphalt, his leather gear no match for the unforgiving surface.
And then it was quiet.
So fucking quiet as he stared up at the sun and waited . . . for what, he didn’t know.
He wasn’t connected to his body, but somehow trapped inside it. Quinn tried to call for help, tried to get up, but his lungs and limbs ignored his commands.
Just as his eyes began to flutter closed, the pain overtaking him, pushing him beyond what he could ever handle . . . he saw her. Her strawberry-blond hair falling down past her soft pink cheeks, the sun creating a halo behind her. Her fingertips grazed his face, and she whispered to him so softly he barely made out what she said. Light blue eyes, nearly translucent in their brightness, told him to just hold on . . . don’t let go . . . don’t give up.
And then she was gone.
And so was he.

A man born to protect

After a major loss, Brody Carter found a home with the London office of McKay-Taggart. A former soldier, he believes his job is to take the bullets and follow orders. He’s happy to take on the job of protecting Dr. Stephanie Gibson while the team uses her clinic in Sierra Leone to bring down an international criminal. What he never expected was that the young doctor would prove to be the woman of his dreams. She’s beautiful, smart, and reckless. Over and over he watches her risk her life to save others. One night of pure passion leads him to realize that he can’t risk his heart again. When the mission ends, Brody walks away, unwilling to lose another person he loves.

A woman driven to heal

Stephanie’s tragic past taught her to live for today. Everything she’s done in the last fifteen years has been to make up for her mistakes. Offering medical care in war-torn regions gives her the purpose she needs to carry on. When she meets her gorgeous Aussie protector, she knows she’s in too deep, but nothing can stop her from falling head over heels in love. But after one amazing night together, Brody walks away and never looks back. Stephanie is left behind…but not alone.

A secret that will change both their lives

A year later, Stephanie runs afoul of an evil mercenary who vows to kill her for failing to save his son. She runs to the only people she trusts, Liam and Avery O’Donnell. She hasn’t come alone and her secret will bring her former lover across the world to protect her. From Liberia to Dallas to Australia’s outback, Brody will do whatever it takes to protect Stephanie from the man who wants to kill her, but it might be her own personal demons that could destroy them both.

The door slammed and she suddenly found herself with her back against it. Brody crowded in, taking up all the space and staring down at her. His body brushed hers and she found both her wrists captured in one of his. He dragged them over her head, forcing her chest to come out, breasts skimming along his body. “I shouldn’t do this.”

Tough chick was winning. Steph let her take over. It was surely better than the desperate girl who lived inside her. She kept asking for love and affection and getting swatted away. This was the next best thing, possibly the only thing she would ever get. “Then don’t. Let me go and I won’t bother you again.”

“No, you’ll go find Ezra Fain and bother him,” Brody said on a growl.

“Somehow, I don’t think he’ll find me a bother.” She’d barely spoken two words to the man, but she wasn’t going to admit it. It was better to let Brody think she wasn’t a love-starved girl.

“He won’t fucking find you anything at all. If you’re determined to not sleep alone tonight, you can damn well do it with me.” His mouth came down on hers and every inch of her skin came alive. His kiss was overwhelming, hungry. There was no slow meshing of mouths. He took her, his tongue surging inside and dominating her own. He let go of her hands and started to explore her body. His hands were on her hips when he came up for air. “I’m leaving in the morning. I’m going back to London and I can’t come back.”

She’d known that would probably be his answer. She’d known he wouldn’t want to stay and she couldn’t leave.

“One night. That’s all I want.” It was all she could have. It had been foolish to think it could be any different.

His mouth came down on hers again and she let herself get swept away. One night and her life would go back to normal. One night and then she would be alone again. His hands started to roam over her and she tried to forget all the reasons why this was a bad idea.

He stepped back, his entire body set in hard lines. He strode over to the bed and sat down. “Take off the gown. It’s pretty, but I want to see you.”

She hesitated, all her insecurities coming to the forefront. Somehow, she’d thought he would simply take her. “Let me get the lights.”

He was back in her space again, his hand wrapping around her wrist. “I didn’t say turn off the lights. I said take off the gown. How am I going to see you if you turn off the lights?”

“Brody,” she began.

He was having none of it. “You got on your knees in front of me and you said you knew what you were offering me. The first thing you were offering me was obedience. The second was your body. You’re giving me neither right now.”

His voice had gone midnight dark and something about the tone made her soften. He was right. She did know what she’d offered him and now she was trying to have it all her way.

There was nothing wrong with her body. It was feminine and she was healthy. What was she afraid of? “All right.”

He let go of her wrist and sat back down, looking like a damn king waiting on his concubine’s performance. For all his “I’m nothing but a grunt” talk, the man could be incredibly arrogant, and damn if she didn’t find it sexy as hell.

Something about that voice let her know that everything was going to be fine. He was past the point of rejection. He was in and that meant he would play her Dom for the night. He would take care of her. She was as safe with him in the bedroom as she’d been in the field.

At least she was safe for the night. In the morning she would be in a world of hurt, but she wasn’t thinking past tonight.

TBRreview

Brody is my kinda guy! 6’7″, alpha and an accent?? Totally my type. So I don’t blame Steph one bit.

Steph has worked for MacKay-Taggert for years. She’s one of their own, or at least Liam O’Donnell thinks. But then Brody re-enters the picture again and everything has turned upside down.

Steph is now running for her life with the help of MacKay Taggert and her Hot Aussie that she’s determined to ignore. But Brody is big and determined so it won’t be that easy.
