Since I’ve found Rebecca Barber, I’ve been a fan of her writing! And Taking Charge, and the McIntyres, are just another series of hers to love! 
Beau comes back home after a frantic call from one of his younger brothers. He left town years ago to get away from his father and make something of himself so he’s less than thrilled to be back home. 
Payton has just moved in, well 6 months ago, after catching her fiancée in bed with another woman. So she turns tail and runs to a new town and buys the bakery in town. Owning a bakery has been her dream and she’s living it in this small town where no ones knows her and her background. Except Beau is just too much for her and she can’t keep away. 
So many twists and turns I didn’t see coming but just made this more of a gripping story!

This was a quick, hot read that I’ve come to expect from Aria Cole’s Books. The one thing I felt was missing (to me) was how Colt and this girl from his past got together. WHY couldn’t he forget her? 
Colt is back in town after tours in the Middle East and he has PTSD – rightfully so. But he always can’t forget the one who got away. But then there’s a horse boarder Raven who interests him.
Raven is in town and can’t help but be interested in Colt. He’s big, strong, silent and alpha.

Propping myself against the wall, I cross my arms and cross my feet at the ankles, making myself comfortable as I wait. At the sound of the door unlatching I look at the floor, not wanting to seem intrusive. 
Two high heels step out into my line of vision. I take a minute to look at the faces around the circle, but I stop when I reach the space directly across from me. The blonde is standing next to a brunette with wild hair and a crazy style. The same knowing smirk is on her face, and for some reason, I can’t seem to tear my eyes away from it.

Confession: I had heard people talk about being a Jett Girl and having NO idea what they were talking about. I get it now. I SO get it!!

On starting to read this book, I felt like oh it’s a story about a stripper. But it’s not. Goldie is a powerhouse and she will be the first one to tell you that. She is approached by someone to become a Jett Girl – not having any idea what that means. But with everything going on her with her life, she’s willing to check it out eventually.  

Jett is HOT! His Southern accent, body and demeanor are just wow. He “collects” certain types of women to be Jett Girls. He only has 4 until he sees Goldie and decides he needs a 5th.  

And thus starts the story of Jett, Goldie, Kace and the Jett Girls.

 “I’m back in town.”

“For how long?” he asked quickly, too quickly. In fact, if she wasn’t mistaken, anger laced his question. She must have reacted to it because his features softened. “Sorry, it’s none of my business. And I do remember that today is your birthday. So, happy birthday, Carissa.”

“Thanks,” she said, and meant it. She decided to offer an olive branch because the truth was that she’d dumped him and she hadn’t been kind about it. This icy reception she was receiving was well deserved. While she knew the reasons behind her decision, she’d never let Jasper in on it. She’d been a bratty, selfish teenager, not capable of understanding her emotions. He slammed his hand on the bar and she jumped. But she just as quickly composed herself. “What? You have every right to revel in my misery after the way I broke up with you. I got divorced. You win.”

His eyes narrowed. “I don’t want to win at that game. And I certainly don’t want to hear that some idiot cheated on you. I’m sorry you’re getting divorced.”

“That makes one of us.”

About the Author

M.C. Decker is the author of the Unspoken Series which includes the Unwritten Duet as well as the standalone novel, Love Entwined. She lives in a suburb of Flint, Michigan with her husband and spoiled-rotten Siamese cat, Simon. For the last decade, she has worked as a journalist for several community newspapers in Michigan’s Thumb region. She enjoys all things ’80s and ’90s pop culture: movies, boy bands, music and especially the color, hot pink. She also strictly lives by the motto, “Life is better in flip flops,” and is a diehard Detroit Tigers fan.
