Authors: J. Haney & S.I. Hayes
Genre: Interracial Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 1, 2020
Left at the altar on her wedding day, Autumn Elizabeth Ashley, angry and broken hearted takes off on what should have been her Honeymoon with her Maid of Honor and best friend Nadia Havarti.Autumn tries to just drown her sorrows, but Nadia won’t stand for it. Instead, she helps Autumn to remember what single is supposed to feel like. So, when a strapping mountain of unidentified local man shows interest, Autumn takes a cue from her BFF with the repercussions to match.

Dalian Emeterio grew up between worlds. His family moved from their Pious and beautiful home in Georgetown, Cayman Islands to the United States when he was just a boy. Memories of his birthplace lead him to dream of one day opening a place on the island letting him take care of the parents that worked so hard for him.

One winter night while working at a Rum Point Hotel he meets Beth and the sparks fly leading to an explosive New Year. Waking alone on the sand he thought he’d never see her again.

Ten years have passed, he is now the owner of The Georgetown Heirs, a chain of intimate hotels along the most popular Port of Calls in the Caribbean, Bahamas and the Western Atlantic.

Faced with the woman who left him on the beach, he’s about to find out that getting what you wish for always comes with strings.

I shower and toss on a tan button-down, white tank, and green cotton knee-length shorts. I had thought about jeans, but today it is supposed to be hot. I top it off with my straw hat and sandals before heading back to the main villa. By the time I finish the walkthrough, it’s almost lunchtime, and I’m starving. I make my way to the kitchen to catch Mama as she is overseeing the cooking.

“You having fun, Mama?”

“Oh, yes. The fish stew be a little salty, but we’re remedying that now. All is well. You look good, now sit, and I’ll bring the conch and Mahi-Mahi.”

I nod and head for the bar. This is my first vacation type day, so a drink is in order. I order a tropical pain killer, I love the touch of nutmeg, and pineapple mixed with rum and coconut. It’s tasty without looking like a girly drink.

Mama brings out my food and then smiles, pointing past me. “There’s one from the Grande Family now.” She waves, and I’m looking at that blonde! Her eyes bug out of her head, and she moves in a slinking fashion. Like she’s trying to hide. I follow her with my eyes, and she sits with a couple of kids, two young men, and a brunette, who’s just taking off a floppy hat. “Aren’t they all just pretty?” Mama adds.

“Yeah…” I draw out the words as the brunette adjusts her sundress straps. My eyes sail down her form and rest on her legs. She’s got stems for days. Now it’s time for me to bug out as I see an anchor anklet tattoo.

I nearly knock over my chair as I jump the bar.

“Boy, what you do, lose your head?” My Mama scolds as I pop my nose on the bar.

“It can’t be.” I whisper, snaking around crouched.

“Dalian, you get off that floor, or I’ll mop it with ya.”

“Yes, Mama. I um- I gotta go!” I freak and grabbing my plate. I high tail it to the kitchen. I mean, just because the only woman you can see yourself ever love is in your hotel isn’t any reason to starve. ~ Dalian

TBRreview

I absolutely loved Linc and Sunny’s story. It wasn’t too angsty but you could feel the love they have for each other. They had each other for a Summer, at least that’s what they planned on, until they didn’t. Fast forward some years and they’re unexpectedly brought back together.

This story was such a ride from when Linc and Sunny and teenagers with their first love and then when they run into each other years later. And then them navigating their lives as adults and trying to navigate through their new personalities and their relationship.

I could not put the story down – well I dropped it but that’s what happens when you read in bed before sleep. I had to know how Sunny and Linc would get together and steer through their relationship from 10 years later.

5 stars!

“I’ll sleep down here. You take the bed.”

My body is warm and tingling. A sensation that only alcohol can produce. I feel great but this is the longest staircase in existence. We make it to the top and nearly stumble into his room.

“What?” I ask, drawing out the end of the word. “What do you think will happen?” He’s just about to open the closet door but turns when he hears me. His face is flushed, his eyes hazy, and he’s swaying a bit, but he regards me without speaking right away so I continue my teasing. “You think I’m going to bite?”

“No, but I might.”

“What?”

“Alcohol,” he mumbles, shaking his head.

What did he just say? A heat rolls down my body and I know I should let it go. We’re both drunk and he’s probably just talking but my curiosity and a bit of liquid courage push me forward.

“What did you say?” I step in front of him and grab his arms, not missing how hard his muscles feel under my touch. His head is tilted downward, eyes fixed on where I’m touching him.

Slowly, he brings his gaze to mine, his breathing becoming rhythmic and deep as his eyes darken. A look I’ve never seen from him before. It makes my pulse race.

I exhale and his eyes drop to my parted lips, causing me to look at his. My God. Is he about to kiss me? Please be about to kiss me.

“I haven’t been to this side of Florida before, it’s nice,“ Ned muttered.
“I’ve spent most my time on the other coast to be honest. But I love the
gulf side much better. Warmer I think, more temperate. And it’s slower. I mean,
we got lots of tourism here, no question about it. But it’s happier, you know
what I mean?”
Ned stared straight ahead as the bridge dead-ended into a small two lane
boulevard, heading north and south along the beach.
“This here is Gulf Boulevard, for obvious reasons. You have your
beachside properties and then you have your inland properties which sometimes
are on a waterway. In any direction you’re no more than five or six blocks from
some body of water. I think that’s why I like it“
Noonan turned right and headed north. Ned saw glimpses of turquoise water
and white beaches in between two story rental units and occasionally a large
condo complex. Along the way it was dotted with beach shops and rental agencies,
renting everything from vacation cabins to surfboards, golf carts and beach
bicycles. He passed a lot of ice cream stores. There were shops on both sides
of the road selling fishing and beach gear, flip-flops, bathing
suits, tanning lotion, and a couple of Taqueria‘s with open air palapas
just like Ned had seen in Mexico. There were lots of fish and chips places, a
smattering of outdoor bars with brightly-colored umbrellas. Occasionally they
had to stop between lights to allow couples or families to cross the road,
usually towing a canvas wagon filled with towels and equipment.
They also passed several groups of walkers, and occasionally a tandem
bicycle. Ned felt himself starting to relax, even though Noonan was quick to
hit on the gas and slow to hit the brakes.
“See? Nothing fancy, but not too shabby, either.”
They turned left down a paved road that ended at the edge of a wooden
bridge over the sand dunes. It was the Treasure Island beach access trail. Off
to the side was an alleyway, unpaved, just wide enough to accommodate two cars
passing. On both sides of the path were smaller shacks, some of them
well-painted, and others left to the sea’s devices. Vacation rental signs hung
in most of the yards or attached to the upper eve of the houses, colorfully
lettered in bright Caribbean paint, with names like Pete’s Paradise and Laura‘s
Lair, with pictures of fish, starfish, and mermaids adorning fences and sides
of buildings. Newnan pulled into the driveway of a tiny pink house that sat
right on the beach.
“It isn’t much, I warn you. This place is going to get torn down, and the
owner has plans to build a McMansion, sort of triplex building. He wants to
live upstairs and rent out down below. But for now, this place is vacant and it
has a little bit of furniture. I hope you like it. And the price is right.“ He
said as he exited the truck.
Ned ran right behind the pirate, his canvas slip-ons crunching on the
white mixture of crushed shells and stones. Noonan produced a set of keys and
unlocked the front door, which was slightly warped, causing Noonan to have to
lean into it hard with his shoulder. At the second try, it gave way and let
them enter, but part of the door trim had cracked.
Inside, the house smelled of mildew, but Ned thought it was nothing that
a few open windows could take care of. It hadn’t been updated in many years.
That surprised him, because Ned thought all these beach properties saw
themselves underwater every few years due to the storms. But this one looked
like it had survived many seasons of winters and lots of fall hurricanes.
“Home sweet home, kid.”

New Release ~ Starting the Riot ~ by ~ Karen Renee

Title: Starting the Riot
Series: Riot MC #0.5
Author: Karen Renee
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: April 28, 2020

Jackie Eastmon’s life changes after a brutal attack on her best friend. While getting Simone the help she needs, Jackie meets a rough, burly biker.

Henry “Volt” Adler, President of the Riot MC Jacksonville chapter, admires Jackie’s rarely found spunk and dedication to Simone. The timing is all wrong for him to pursue Jackie. He runs into her nearly two years later, and he will stop at nothing to make her his.

Jackie struggles with this bossy, alpha-male in her life. When she learns he knows who attacked Simone but hasn’t made them pay, she questions if he’s the man for her.

Upon the two-year anniversary of the attack, Simone attempts suicide, and Volt hates seeing Jacqueline hurting for her friend. He orders his brothers to make the attackers pay for what they did to Simone.
“Exactly,” he whispered. “Those fuckers aren’t going to confess. They’ve had years to get their stories straight. With that in mind, if I tell you who they are, what are you going to do with that info? Go off half-cocked and find yourself in the same fuckin’ shape, or God forbid, worse?”
I finally got out of his grip and stalked to the other side of the office. It took all my control to not cry with the amount of frustration coursing through my body. Hearing his footsteps approaching me, I turned and held my arms out to keep him back.
“I‒” My teeth clenched as I fought my extreme urge to argue with Volt.
Making matters worse, he was right. I would do something, and even if I didn’t think I was half-cocked, I probably would be.
I narrowed my gaze. “Barnes wouldn’t be half-”
His chuckle was sinister. “No, he’d go straight to jail, Jacqueline. Worse, it’d be a third strike.”
My brows furrowed. “Third strike? He‒”
Volt shook his head. “You don’t know his past. I’m not having that on my conscience.”
Again, he was right, but I couldn’t stop myself. “That’s if he gets caught.”
Volt laughed at that and it both pleased and annoyed me. I loved making him laugh, but I didn’t want him to know it.
Giving into my annoyance, I said, “I wasn’t being funny.”
“Yeah, and that wasn’t what I found funny. Your tone says you think you can keep him from getting caught.”
Jeepers! Was I that easy to read? I looked away from him, but his warm hand slid along my cheek pulling my gaze back to his.
“What was funny to me was how much you remind me of my little sister.”
Try as I might, I couldn’t keep my face from falling. I did not want to remind him of a sister, and certainly not a little one.
His voice was gruff when he said, “She’s dead. Almost five years now.”
“I’m sorry,” I said.
“Me too.”
I fell silent again, wondering if that was why he was attracted to me. Because I brought back memories of a long-lost sister. Psych types like me went there even if it seemed strange to laypeople. We were all wired to be drawn to people who filled a void.
“Whatever you’re mulling over, Jacqueline, stop it,” Volt grumbled.
“What?”
He moved closer, wrapping an arm loose around my waist. “I was serious. We’ve begun. You say something in a way my sister would, is not me saying you’re replacing her. Wasn’t gonna be so blunt, but fuck it.
“I want inside your head. Inside your pants, and definitely inside your heart. My sister does not factor in that seeing as I’ve wanted those things with you since I first watched you pull into The Barnes parking lot.”
“Okay,” I whispered.

He leaned in and kissed me. This one was gentle, but deliciously wet.
Karen Renee is the author of the Riot MC Series. She has wanted to be a writer from a very early age, and she’s finally bringing that dream to life. Excerpt

©EDEN BUTLER 2020

She was winter. The cold, cool stretch of emptiness that you think will
consume you. The frigid bite you think won’t ever leave your bones, the one you
try to pretend isn’t there, but can’t keep out of your head.
She was fall and the scent of a fire, the crackle of heat, the coming of
change you try to pretend won’t come, but does anyway, that you wait for the
whole year, that you wish away when it finally comes.
She was summer and the scorching warmth of sun and sin, the slick feel of
lotion and the spray of ocean water, the salt of that taste on your tongue and
the cool, crisp relief that comes over you when you dip inside the bottomless
water.
She was spring, the fresh sweet smell of jasmine and the honeysuckle
temptation of light and love and beautiful rebirth that cannot be ignored.
Willow was the phantom spark of all those things I loved and hated. The things
that tested me. The things that healed, all wrapped up in that tempting
silhouette, in the sweet surrender of her body pressed against mine and the
whisper of a tease in every syllable that formed my name from her full, thick
lips.
“Nash.” It was a song sweeter than Coltrane. Hurt worse, too, my name,
the hidden tone of promises and pleasure I’d stopped telling myself I didn’t
want.
Four seasons laid out before me. Willow’s wild hair fanned against my
pillow and her waiting body—pale skin and a trail of freckles that crossed her
chest and dipped with the curves along her stomach.
“Nash,” she said again, reaching for me when I came to my knees, looking
down at her, wanting her with an ache nothing had ever worked up in me.
There were two small lines along her hips, lightning on her skin and the
round bends of her breasts, the sweet arches along her thighs when I touched
her there. That look, though, went deeper, settled closer than the scent of her
skin or rise in my body when I watched her shimmy out of her clothes and crawl
on my bed, waiting, ready for me to react.
Now I was and I had to breathe deep, separate the want someone else held
in my dream and the urge to take what was mine and mine alone; what I wanted
for myself because of the sensation only Willow moved in me.
“Take off your shirt,” she said and I did, working one shoulder at a time
out of that cotton, discarding it because it kept me from her. She touched me,
nails against the lines and letters over my body, her mouth, her tongue warm
and soft on my neck, over my chest, traveling like a wanderer, searching,
seeking.
We came together like colors, moving into a gradient of light, of motion
that reminded me of the sea, waves and water, sand and shore. We were sweeter
than those Coltrane chords, went deeper than each note.
“Will… I could never get my fill of you…” I told her, moving closer, lips
and tongue on her flesh, in the dips of her body. The invitation open, ready as
she pulled me close. I took another bite, moving her apart with my knee,
holding her tight until there were small marks from my fingers against her pale
skin and she shuddered, gripping, clawing at me like she couldn’t get close
enough. “I’m… I’m so sorry about that day at my building…”
“I don’t… Nash… it doesn’t matter.” She pulled me closer, like she didn’t
want the words between us keeping our lips apart. “Nash… please…” And that
melody spurred me on, had me forgetting control and patience and all the
swagger I thought made me smooth. I was nothing but feeling, touch, and taste,
and desperate, desperate want with her under me, with me slipping inside, deep,
sweet.

ancestor, Eden patiently waits for her Hogwarts letter, reads, and spends too
much time in her garden perfecting her green thumb while waiting for the next
New Orleans Saints Superbowl win.

She is currently living under teenage rule alongside her husband in southeast
Louisiana.

Excerpt

I walk over to the beer aisle and there’s a worker buffing
the floors and another man standing by the beer, looking at the different
brands. He’s just as bundled up as I am.
Taking a deep breath, I glance over all the different beers.
I try to look at the selection in front of the man, but I don’t want to invade
his space so I stick to what’s in front of me. Callum likes different types of
beer and not the usual Budweiser or Corona. That’s what makes this so
difficult. He always picks out unusual flavors. One time, he had a fixation on
a peanut butter and jelly beer. I tried it and it really did have a peanut
butter taste.
“All right, let’s see,” I say quietly, perusing all the
different specialty beers. The man beside me tenses as if he’s standing beside
a lunatic talking to herself. Oh wait, I was. I’m pretty sure it’s
not the craziest thing he’ll be witnessing tonight.
Closing my eyes, I reach out and grab two packs of beer.
Callum’s just going to have to deal with what I get. I open my eyes and look at
what I picked. One is an apple cider beer and the other is an IPA.
I turn to the man and clear my throat. I can’t see his face
because it’s hidden by the hood of his coat. “I am so sorry to bother you, but
have you by any chance tried any of these? I just want to know if they’re good
or not.”
He freezes and steps slowly away from the beer as if I
scared him. He doesn’t move or reply, which is strange and makes me regret
asking him in the first place. Now, all I want to do is get away from him. But
everything changes when his face comes into view.
My eyes go wide and my breath hitches in my lungs. A set of
familiar brown eyes meet mine and it’s as if everything around me disappears.
“Oh my God,” I whisper, trying to catch my breath. My arms go weak and I can
feel the beers slipping from my grasp, but the man in front of me saves them.
He sets the packs of beer on the floor and stares right into
my eyes. “I thought I was imagining things when I heard your voice.”
My heart skips a beat. It’s been years since I’ve seen
him. Brennan McLean. I knew him as my high school boyfriend, but
the world knows him as a superstar. I never thought I’d see him again,
certainly not after he rose to fame. Letting him go all those years ago was the
hardest thing I’ve ever done.
