One word.

Two letters.

But those two letters changed everything.

It was impossible to predict the impact I would have on the life of the only woman I’d ever truly loved. No way to know that I would result in her ruin.

I’d suffer for eternity with the knowledge that it was me who brought devastation to her doorstep.

Though I deserved the anguish I felt, to see her suffer was unacceptable.

I would fix this.

Somehow I would prove to her that I wasn’t the monster she thought I was.

Even if it meant becoming a monster in order to make that happen.

EXCERPT

Then the door swung open and there he was. For a brief moment I was taken by his handsome features—his olive skin and pronounced jaw, the sparkle in his dark eyes, his perfect, straight nose. More than anything, it was the pull that remained between us that surprised me. Like I was a planet still circling his sun.

There was a moment when we locked eyes that the gravity of all that had happened wasn’t weighing heavy between us, and it almost caused me to stumble back.

Then, after the moment of intimacy had passed, I was sure I saw dread slip over his expression. I wasn’t going to stay put and find out though.

I wouldn’t be standing on his doorstep begging for whatever scraps of information he deemed worthy of casting my way. No, I was here to demand what he, at the very least, owed me, and I wouldn’t leave until he gave it to me.

“We need to talk.” I pushed past him, careful not to make contact, and bolted down the hallway toward the living room.

“Emily, this isn’t a good time.” Marco’s footsteps followed quickly behind me.

“I don’t care. Put aside whatever it is you’re doing. I want answers.”

I came to an abrupt stop when I stepped into the living/dining area and found Alexa sprawled across the couch like she was a feast ready to be enjoyed.

Her blouse was half unbuttoned, her legs draped over the cushions, causing her skirt to ride up a bit on her thighs, and her lips slightly swollen. Her lipstick had been rubbed off her mouth and onto her skin. She wore a saccharine smile that I wanted to rip off her face.

I crossed my arms over my chest and turned back to Marco. “Oh, I see. Well, pardon me for interrupting.” There was no disguising the venom in my voice.

His tortured gazed darted from me to her and back a few times before he schooled his features and responded. “Can we have this conversation some other time?” he asked, his voice neutral.

“Marco, who’s this?” Alexa purred from behind me.

I spun to address her with a fake smile on my face. “I’m Emily. We met at the art show a few months ago when I was there with Marco. Back when we were still fucking. You can call me Brandi, though.” I turned to lock gazes with him before finishing. “Everyone who knows me intimately does.”

His fists clenched at his sides and his jaw tightened. Good. Some small part of me was pleased that I was still able to elicit a reaction like that from him.

I swung my attention back to the blonde on the couch. “I’m sorry to swing by unannounced like this and interrupt what was obviously going to be a good time for you both. I just need a few minutes with Marco, and then I’ll be out of your hair.”

Alexa’s eyes narrowed on me for a moment, and though she was playing nice with me—probably for Marco’s benefit—it was clear she wasn’t pleased with the interruption.

“Perhaps I should go,” she said.

“No!” Marco said, whip fast. “Emily should be the one to leave.”

Not going to lie.

That stung.

A lot.

No matter that everything between Marco and I had been based on lies, the fact that I was so easily tossed aside smarted.

“I’m not going anywhere until we speak.” I leveled him with a gaze that told him I was serious.

“Why don’t you use my bathroom to freshen up, Alexa? It’s that way through my bedroom.” He pointed toward the room that we’d spent many a night in. “I’ll meet you there in a few minutes.”

A victorious smile crept across her face, and her gaze swung to me as she rose from the couch. She brushed her fingers across Marco’s chest as she passed him. “Don’t be too long.”

He nodded but didn’t spare her a glance as she passed, his gaze still fixed on me.

As soon as the bedroom door closed, I spoke. “Sorry to interrupt your play time, Marco, but you owe me some answers and I’m ready to collect.”

TBRreview

Before Burn, I had to prepare and go back and read Hook.  You need to have read Hook first to get the full story.

After Hook, I wasn’t sure how Marco & Emily’s story would continue.  It definitely was NOT was I was thinking/expecting.  I won’t say too much because I don’t want to give it away.

After Hook, Emily wants revenge.  And it’s by any means necessary.  She’s going to make someone/the people pay.  And Marco is of a similar mind.  They just both go about it in different ways.

I will just say, read Burn!  If you love Hook like I did, and was DYING for the continuation, Burn will fill that role!

5 stars!

Book Blitz ~ Against the Wall ~ by ~ Tracy Burke

Title: Against the Wall
Series: Fuckboy Series #1
Genre: Erotica
Author: Tracy Burke
Release Date: May 19, 2016
Wanted – Fuckboy. Full-time hours, daily pay, 60/40 cut, you keep all tips. Must be appealing to the eye, have a body to die for, and be open minded to new adventures. Call 555-FUCK to get started today!
Down on his luck and hard up for cash, Colton Pierce answers an ad for a job as a fuckboy.
What’s a fuckboy you ask?
Colton’s about to find out.
Warning: This book is EROTICA, with M/F/M, M/M and M/F relationships, and it’s extremely hot!
Kitten walked around him, tracing a red welt down his back that had been caused by her whip. “Are you ready, little boy? Kitten is going to ride you like an animal.”
He groaned and nodded, knowing not to say anything. He was ready to come. He needed to come so fucking badly that he was sick with the need he felt.
“Tell me,” she demanded. “Tell me to fuck your ass like an animal.”
Colton paused because the idea of just blurting those words out embarrassed him.
When he hesitated she reached out quickly and slapped his face, sending his head flying to one side. “I said tell me you want me to fuck your ass like an animal,” she bellowed as she took his face in her hands and forced him to look up at her.
“Say it!” she demanded.
Colton wet his dry lips, his voice hoarse when he spoke. “I want you to…” He trailed off and coughed, trying to clear his throat. It felt raw after having the ball gag in for so long, but he didn’t want her to think he was ignoring her so he swallowed a few times to lubricate and tried again. “I want you to fuck my ass like an animal, Mistress.”
She clapped her hands and looked over at Daddy, getting giddy by the words he used. “Daddy, did you hear him call me Mistress? Did you, huh? Huh?”
“I heard him, Kitten. Go on and finish up,” he said, motioning over to Colton, prompting her to focus.
Kitten nodded, then walked out of his line of sight, disappearing somewhere behind him. He grew a bit nervous when he heard her fiddling with something he couldn’t see. He didn’t know if it was better with or without the mask on. At least with it on he could drown in darkness and be oblivious about what was really going on. He couldn’t tell when she was about to do something evil until she actually did it. But he kept his mouth shut, working his jaw as the tension eased up.
“Are you ready to be fucked, little boy?” Kitten walked around in front of him, showing him her strap-on cock.
“Uhh…” His eyes widened as they rested on the huge dildo protruding from her tiny body and he shifted uncomfortably, unsure about whether he wanted to do this now. Moments ago he had been ready to do anything and everything she wanted him to just to be allowed to come. Now, not so much. Maybe he didn’t need to come that badly. He could wait until he got home, he thought as his attention pulled to the ball gag Daddy picked up off the floor.
“Not another word, boy,” he warned.
Colton snapped his mouth shut, not wanting Daddy to put the gag back in place. It had hurt too much and the ache in his jaw from the three and a half hours he had already worn it was still coursing through him.
“Are you ready to be fucked?” Kitten’s voice rumbled from behind him as her hand came down across the cheek of his ass.
My name is Tracy Burke. I live in Canton, Ohio. Not because I want to. Just because life works out that way. I’m 38 years old but I feel like I’m 50. Don’t we all? I am a multi-genre author… you’ll see lots of different things from me. Besides writing, I also enjoy art and music. I love to read, play video games, and go for midnight dessert runs.

I have four kids. One boy (17) and three girls (16, 14, & 9). I’ve always wanted more children but to be honest, my youngest broke me. My mental status took a dive with her and it has never recovered. HAHA!

I’m an animal lover and I try to do what I can to support any animal cause that I come across. I have two cats (Rosey and KiKi), two dogs (Mocha Jean and Paisley Mae – the dumbest dog on the planet), a hamster named Squid (WTF!), and a revolving door of Betta and Goldfish.

Anyways, enough rambling from me. Check out my website for the longer version of this bio. Write me a fan mail or a hate hater mail, either way I’ll answer it when I have time. Check out my books, tell me what you think, and don’t forget to post a review.

I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Regina lost her husband four years ago. Now she lives a solitary life–by choice. But her preferences are tossed aside when an unseen force drops her into a remote jungle. There, a small group of handsome, athletic men are waiting to show her that the woman who takes on their tribe has no chance to remain lonely…or unsatisfied.

But Regina wants more than what she’s offered. Niku takes her to bed for her first time in years, but is emotionally absent. Ax makes her writhe in pleasure, when he’s not tempting her to punch him in the face. Brannon is a sweet-talking, dreamboat, but can she trust him not to break her heart? Tennyson, Benji and Sebastian all adore her, but is their connection with her more than just the wild times they share between the sheets? With Rayne overflowing with animosity, and Viktor making her want to run and hide, figuring out which one of these men might just be the next great love in her life, is going to be a challenge.

The Wikomsette Excerpt © Emerald Lavere 2013

On Sunday—it must have been Sunday, because it was Wednesday when I’d arrived, and unless I was on a different planet…well, they sure looked like human men, acted like human men, felt like human men—anyway, it was Sunday to me, and all the men were resting. Some milled around the clearing talking and laughing, while others stayed in their quarters or swam in the nearby river.

Rayne was assigned to take me farther down the river where I could bathe privately.

Before I waded in, I asked, “What does it mean? Bisho un vu?”

Rayne sat cross-legged on the shore, absorbed in the black device he always carried. It was flat and about the size of a greeting card, and seemed to be a computer or tablet. He paused in his activity and answered in a solemn tone, eyes still on the device, “It means, ‘I offer myself to you.’”

“Oh.” That was surprising. “That’s rather romantic, considering I’m nothing more than a common prostitute here.”

“You are La Wikomsette!” Rayne snapped, frustration flashing in his icy eyes. “You are like a queen. They’ll do anything for you.” Then he finished bitterly, “There is no higher honor.”

“Why do you hate me?” I blurted. In my life back home, I didn’t open up to anyone, but here, so far from normal society, mincing words seemed an unnecessary formality.

“Don’t be stupid,” he replied with contempt. Concentrating on his device, he added, “Even if I did hate you, why would it matter? You have seven men here who would give their lives for you. If that’s not good enough, then you are a spoiled child and don’t deserve the love of even one of them.”

I seriously doubted love had much to do with anything. Mad horniness, maybe. I took off my clothes, and when Rayne didn’t show the slightest interest, I was stung by the insult. Maybe I was a spoiled child. But a wicked desire to harass him came over me.

Once in the water, I called, “I’ve figured it all out, you know.” That seemed to catch his attention, but he still didn’t look over or say anything. “You all are aliens, and I’m no longer on Earth.”

He burst out laughing. I smiled, pleased that I’d cracked his hard exterior. Also, it seemed I could cross that theory off my list. It was a lame one, anyway. The forest, or jungle, more like, was teeming with familiar wildlife.

“This doesn’t look like Earth?” he said, amused, gazing at the lush foliage around us. “Pity, we tried so hard to replicate your home planet to fool you.” He laughed at his own joke, then sighed. He shook his head and returned his attention to the device.

“Why did the men say that? About offering themselves?” I asked, splashing around in the pleasant water. “Not all of them did, though.” I wished Niku had said it. I would have liked him to, and Brannon was so affectionate, why hadn’t he?

After a moment, Rayne said, “In our…culture, a man says that only the first time he gives himself to someone.”

“But, it was the first time that each one…” I stopped midsentence, gasping as realization dawned. “Do you mean to tell me those men have never, ever been with a woman before? Ever?”

Rayne nodded.

After diving underwater to look for the soap I’d dropped, I came up and threw out my next theory. “Are you all from a monastery? Or some…weird cult or something?”

“Regina.” Even though he wasn’t looking in my direction, I could tell he was rolling his eyes. “Finish your bath. I don’t want to babysit you all day, and we have the Rest Day meal in a little while.” Despite the reprimand, his tone was lighter than before. Was this progress? Maybe he would learn to like me, after all.

“Your English is already flawless, and the others have learned so much. How is that even possible after so few days?” I asked while scrubbing my hair.

Rayne set the computer object down, stretched out his legs, and leaned back on his hands. “I’m not sure how to explain it well. But we have technology”—he waved a hand carelessly—“far more advanced than what you are used to—”

“How do you know what I’m used to?” Rayne had the annoying habit of talking down to me, and I was quickly growing tired of it.

“Are you done yet? Let’s head back,” he replied coolly.

“Almost. Sorry. Please tell me. Please?” I should really learn to keep my big mouth shut. He was annoyed again and waited a minute or two before answering.

“Well, the equipment is like a computer, a very, very small one. It houses thousands of languages. Ax identified yours the first day you came.” A dark look crossed his brow, and he went silent for several moments. Taking a deep breath, he went on. “I guess the most basic way to say it is we download the information into our brains, bits at a time. I already knew much of this language, so really I just had to fine-tune it.”

This was followed by several minutes of quiet while I climbed out of the water, wrapped up in a towel, and then just sat as I pondered the implications in his explanation. Rayne eventually glanced my way. “You’re androids?” I asked in a whisper.

“Oh good gosh, you are ridiculous! Get your clothes on. I’m starting back now, and you can keep up or get lost out here.” He stood and started walking while I pulled on my clothes as quickly as possible. I still almost lost him in the brush as I tripped over myself and tried to catch up.

A Wife for the Future Excerpt © Emerald Lavere 2016

She smiles, and it makes her less intimidating. She has very nice teeth. “My dear, calm yourself.” She sweeps across the room and sits in a dramatic pose on one of the couches. “I’m told your name is Ashling?”

“Yes, my lady.” I take a seat across from her. I feel self-conscious and horribly underdressed in my sweat suit.

“I feel already that you are different than the other girls I’ve mentored. I’m not exactly sure what it is…” She blinks rapidly at my outfit as if noticing it for the first time. “But you are quite lovely. The men will certainly be doing everything they can think of to win your favor and a place in your tribe.”

I blush. “Thank you. I hope I can…be what is required.”

“Darling, you will meet all expectations if you can do but two things: open your legs to let your husbands in and open them again to let children out. Anything beyond that is extra.”

Now I’m blushing so hard that Ambria laughs. “Oh my, you are sweet! I didn’t come here just to tell you that! I’m an experienced Wikomsette, darling, and I’ll give you much more advice in the ways of the life. If what I’ve said already has you turning so pink, you may need a brandy or two before hearing some of the rest. I’m afraid you’ll faint away!” She laughs again, and I smile back at her.

I also have the urge to lock myself away in my new, ugly bedroom, but there’s no getting out of this. Instead, I resign myself to remaining planted in the Penthouse living room and settle in for the afternoon with Ambria. Her lessons aren’t too bad at the start.

“I’ve been told you’ve led an especially sheltered life,” she says.

I nod.

“That you didn’t grow up in a traditional household and will need to have even the most basic things explained.” She raises an eyebrow and pauses as if hoping I’ll spill some beans. I respond only with my best wide-eyed innocent stare. She concedes and continues, “So bear with me if some of what I say seems remedial.”

Ambria goes on to explain that the Penthouse is referred to as the “Domain” in Wikomsette households, and gives a lot of advice about keeping peace in the home. Things like being clear with my expectations of the husbands and not depriving them.

“Unless they’ve upset you, of course, dear. Then feel free to teach the offending man a lesson! Oh, and also, I would be careful if you have any particular tastes, if you understand me. I once asked for two of my husbands to share my bed at the same time for a bit of extra excitement.” She shakes her head. “The request was not well received by those two! But I got myself a couple of new husbands after that who weren’t so particular about whom they bedded, and oh my!” Ambria winks.

I find myself giggling even though the very idea sort of horrifies me. “Oh, no. I don’t think anything like that will be an issue.” My face is hot again.

“Well, you never know, dear. Once you get a taste for the cock…oh that reminds me, we should discuss tasting the cocks…” For the next hour or so, I sit, listen, choke on the water I’m drinking several times, and think my face will burst into flames of embarrassment many more times. At one point, Ambria is so caught up in her explanations of sex positions, she actually bunches up her gown and gets on all fours on the floor to explain the best way to prop yourself up while “taking it from behind” and adding self-stimulus with either your fingers or a pleasure device. “Those are a bit taboo, of course, as a woman shouldn’t be relieving herself when she has so many men that can barely get enough of her as it is. But they are perfectly acceptable accessories during sex play with a husband.”

After that display, she rolls onto her back with a huff. “Oh goodness. I can’t believe I’m on the floor. I can barely maneuver as it is in this dress, but I do love it so. Give me a hand up, will you, dear?”

With a bit of effort from both of us, Ambria manages to return to her seat on the sofa and asks for a beverage. I call down the stairway. A minute later, Jules brings us a tray of lemonade and explains the intercom, which is a circular crystal on the wall.

“These are throughout the home, my lady, and for now, you’ll have to wave a hand past one to activate it. Later today, we’ll program the system to respond to your voice.” He bows and returns to the lower level.

“A fine-looking youth, that one,” Ambria says before sipping her drink.

I merely smile, and ask, “Um. Are you… Do you still…?” I have to wonder if at her age she still romps around in the bedroom.

“Oh, gracious, dear! Of course! I’m all for it. Though, you know, I have slowed down, but believe me, so have my husbands! I still take all of them to my bed. The ones that are left, anyway. But often it’s just for the sweetness of having one of my men to sleep beside when neither of us is up for more.”

“What do you mean, the ones who are left? Don’t you take husbands for life?

Ambria nods and sighs. “Three of my darlings have passed on. I only have six left now. I suppose I could take on some younger ones. Those who have no chance of getting a younger Wikomsette of their own. But our household is quiet and content. I think it will be just us from here on out.”

“What about children? Did you have any?”

Ambria laughs so hard that tears sparkle in her eyes. “Oh, precious! Did I have children! Seventeen, dear. All boys. I suppose that’s one of the reasons I so enjoy counseling young women as they enter their positions. It’s the closest I ever get to a mother-daughter relationship.”

I barely hear the last bit because my mind is still reeling. Seventeen babies! I think I might be sick. “So…so, you were pregnant seventeen times?”

“Only sixteen. My last two boys are twins,” she says fondly. “Are you all right, dear? You look a bit green.”

Emerald Lavere grew up in rural Oregon. A country girl at heart, she now lives happily in Southern California with her three children, and only one husband (unlike her main Wikomsette characters). Formerly a dancer, singer, and actor, she still teaches dance on occasion, and sings often, and loudly, in her car.

Excerpt

Love can heal and love can make you soar, but Nate’s expression said my love had broken him. The thought of Nate not knowing how much I wanted him back shattered me. As his eyes filled with utter confusion, he waited for me to continue.

“Then why didn’t you ask me?” Nate scowled. “What changed your mind? Or should I say who changed your mind?” He didn’t wait for me to answer. Instead, he gripped his hair with his fists and walked away.

“It isn’t what you think.” I searched for the best words to explain.

I might have screwed up finding the right words. It was hard to concentrate with him standing there shirtless, water dripping slowly down his chest from his wet hair. God, he looked sexy as hell. He had no idea what he was doing to me. I wanted to lick every single drop. In my mind, my hands traveled all over his toned chest, wiping away the water like I was his towel.

Nate glared at me, unbelieving, as if he expected me to lie. Then he rushed to me and punched the wall with an expression of rage I’d never seen. His body so close to mine, almost touching, caused my focus to slip away.

“Don’t fuck with me, Olie,” he gritted through his teeth. “It isn’t what I think? I wasn’t given the chance to think.” He pointed to himself. “There wasn’t much to think when I saw Troy practically on top of you.”

I had known that moment would cause me problems. Nate’s expression eased when I began to tremble. His anger and how he’d reacted seemed to surprise him, too. I found my composure again and continued before he had another episode that was so out of character. There was no going back.

“I couldn’t tell you because of Troy. Not because I wanted to be with him, but because I was scared of him.”

“What?” His eyebrows pinched at the center, and his pitch rose again. “What do you mean you were afraid of him? Did he threaten you? Did he hurt you?”

When I nodded through unrelenting tears, Nate guided me to the bed with his hand on my back. I wiped my cheeks and sat next to him. His proximity drove me insane, especially when my hand accidentally grazed his chest.

“Tell me everything.” he said softly, but it was more of a demand. I could tell his anger had turned toward Troy and away from me.

Sexiest Couple Alive continues right where Sexiest Man Alive left off.  So if you haven’t read that, go back and read that first!  You have to meet Nate and Olivia aka Olie properly.  And Josh and Isla – but that’s another story – and that’s all I’m saying.

Nate and Olie (In my head I was repeatedly saying “Ollie” or “O-Lee”) have just a fantastic, undeniable chemistry.  But you can also tell they are truly friends.

M. Clarke will definitely be added to my TBR with these books!  They’re hot, sexy, sweet with some drama.  And just a good story to read.

Excerp 1

As a last resort, Kate found herself in the hospital chapel; even though she wasn’t a religious person, she needed guidance more than she had ever imagined. Sitting in silence with maybe one other person, Kate was unsure of how this was done. It had been three months since Kerri had fallen into her coma, and Kate had begun to lose her faith about recovery. Her eyes closed and her hands folded in a prayer pose; she didn’t pay any attention when someone sat down in her pew, but continued to pray. A soft, drawling voice spoke to her and rattled her nerves. Kate had prepared herself for this moment; it would only be a matter of time before they showed up.

Review 1 (2)

The description of this book is not something I would normally read.  But this book.  I’m so glad I wanted to review it!  This book was amazing and I loved it!

I love stories where the hero falls for an unlikely heroine and it is just so interesting to see him so bent out of shape and forced out of his comfort zone by something he didn’t expect.

I HOPE there will be a second book coming.  I love this book and the characters and definitely want this to be the start of a series.

Amazing story from a new author!

Tabitha is a new and upcoming author who just finished her first novel in The Burden of Trust series. At the age of twenty she was published in Families Like Mine, which sparked her passion for storytelling.

Currently living in Florida, Tabitha is a graduate from University of Central Florida with a Business degree. Today she spends her time reading, traveling the state with her husband and finds herself addicted to English Tea to help with the late night writing sessions.

I self-published, so there is no specific editor and I created the covers through CreateSpace.

Book Blitz ~ Heartless ~ by ~ Kelly Martin

Title: Heartless
Author: Kelly Martin
Genre: YA Paranormal
Blurb:
Who is really the monster?
For thirteen years, Gracen Sullivan dreamed about a red-eyed demon named Hart Blackwell who tortured her every night. Her mother freaked when she found out about her daughter’s “hallucinations” and forced Gracen to go to the doctor, who prescribed some very powerful medication which kept Hart out of her head for five years.
A week ago, Hart came back and brought a friend.
But something has changed, and Gracen is seeing Hart when she’s awake too. And the other “friends” in her dreams? They have been found dead.
The police want to talk to her.
Her boyfriend has become distant.
Her dreams are becoming more and more intense.
Hell wants her.
Heaven has to stop her.
When push comes shoving, can Gracen fight the evil eating away inside her or will she be forced to embrace it and destroy the world?

Kelly Martin writes paranormal, contemporary, historical, and YA fiction. She has been married for over ten years and has three rowdy, angelic daughters. When she’s not writing, she loves taking picture of abandoned houses, watching horror gamers on YouTube– even though she’s a huge wimp– and drinking decaf white chocolate mochas. She’s a total fangirl, loves the 80s and 90s, and has a sad addiction to paranormal TV shows. {Basically, she likes creepy stuff.} Her favorite characters are the very flawed ‘good guys’–and ‘bad guys’ who don’t know they are evil. She loves giving her readers books with unexpected twists and turns, but (here’s a hint) most of her books have the ending spelled out in the first chapter. See if you can figure it out.If you ever have a question or comment, feel free to email her at kellymartin215 @ yahoo . com ♥ You can follow her writing adventure at www.kellymartinbooks.com

Part of me is afraid I’m going crazy.
Part of me is scared I’m not, because if I’m not, if what is going on in my nightmares is real, then I’ve got 99 more problems to deal with.
That’s why I can’t tell Tina. It’s why I can’t tell anybody. There is something inside me that will not allow me to have a meaningful conversation with people. It’s like part of me is missing. Not just the scary part either. It’s like I’m missing some important part of myself that everybody else has and God forgot to put inside me. Like everyone else has a nice awesome soul and I have… Hart.
So not a fair trade.
I sit up straighter and place my hands on the keyboard, ready to tell Tina something without telling her anything at all. It’s how humans communicate, right? I’ll tell her that, yeah, I’m having some anxiety issues. It’s the second full week of college, of living with Sam, of being away from home. College assignments are different from high school, and I’m a little stressed about doing well on them. I won’t tell her about Sam or the weird fight we had last night. Almost like he wanted to pick it so I’d go upstairs and leave him alone. I’ll tell her it’s anxiety and not that I haven’t slept more than two hours a night in a week. I’ll tell her a lot of things because she is my friend and that’s what friends do.
They lie to each other so they can make each other feel good.
@sullyGray I’m fine. Really. Just Monday morning, kwim? I’m ready for it to be Friday again. Whoot!
@tinaM Tell me about it! Mondays are so hard! Gotta go. Talk to you later. Have a great day!
@sullyGray You too!!!!!!
And then I add some smiley emoticons, because that’s just what a person does. I hit send and lean back in my computer chair. Monday morning. Time for Professor Mitchell’s class. Time to see Marcy, AKA the best Teacher’s Assistant in the world, and listen to the professor talk about some random event that happened in the Civil War. Because that’s what he does. He talks about random events that didn’t matter to anybody but does it in such a way that you care. Professor Mitchell is one of those teachers who just makes you want to learn, makes you want to listen. He has something special about him. Something no other teacher has had, and I’ve only had him three times. I have his class Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. A great way to start the week, and a great way to end it.
Can’t exactly say enough about Professor Mitchell. I mean, he’s him.
Sweet, intelligent, awesome, and at least twenty years older than me. Handsome in that old guy way. Not that I’d want anything to do with him—not in that way. Not feelin’ that, but I know some other people in the class wouldn’t mind.
The professor loves talking about the Civil War. More than just the war, the families involved, the real people behind the “Hollywood machine,” as he calls it.
I shut down my computer and stretch in my chair. Yeah, it’s Monday, but it’ll be a good Monday. It will. I’ll go to class with a positive attitude. I’ll listen. I’ll take notes. I’ll text Sam—funny how he’s not sent me one before now—and I’ll be happy.
Or, at the very least, I’ll pretend to be happy.
That’s all people really want, right?
Sunshine. Marcy, the T.A. for Professor Mitchell. Tina. Sam—somewhere. I’m living my life. I’m moving on. I’m totally ignoring Hart, who is currently whispering in my head about candles.
I’m fine.
I’m totally normal.
