Synopsis: An inherited parking spot. That’s all it took to make Natalie Moran’s food truck dreams come true. But her dream space is attached to a bakery inherited by someone else—drop dead gorgeous Eric Schneider, a financial consultant who wouldn’t know a cupcake from a cannoli. And he wants to buy Nat out, no matter what she has to say about it.

Eric’s determined to build his own business, but he needs the super cute klutz with the cupcake truck to help. If Nat will teach him the basics of running a bakery, he’ll give her free kitchen time. Except…neither expects the heat burning between them or the possibility that their arrangement might become permanent.

When it all blows up, Nat is convinced his actions mean betrayal. It’s up to Eric to regain her trust and show her he’s a man who is truly, madly in love with her, before she disappears from his life forever.

TBRreview

Gina is a crackup! She’s like Lucy & Ethel in 1 person. She gets into the craziest situations.

She’s “spying” on her own food truck because she knows her ex-boyfriend is breaking in and using it as a hookup spot at night. Rather than involve the police (because she doesn’t trust them), Gina is going to catch Tony on her own.

Rick is one of the lucky cops who gets dispatched to stop Gina’s peeping. Or at least when she’s using neighbors’ fire escapes.

This book was funny, sweet, sad at times but a great read overall. I loved Gina’s capers!

5 stars!

Keane Morgan wouldn’t return any of my calls or texts, and I was pissed as hell about it. I didn’t want to drive from Seattle to L.A. with the guy any more than he wanted to drive with me, but I had no frickin’ choice in the matter–at least, not if I wanted to use his brother Dax’s coveted parking spot at UCLA.

Okay, so it turned out Keane was objectively gorgeous, and, fine, pretty funny, too. But did he have to be so damned in love with himself? I mean, jeez, the cocky way he flashed those dimples was just so orchestrated. And, honestly, what kind of guy uses the phrase “baby doll” with a straight face? Oh, that’s right: the kind of guy who’s a male stripper.

Yup, the cocky jerk turned out to be Seattle’s answer to Magic Mike, a stripper known as “Ball Peen Hammer”–which meant Keane Morgan was emphatically not the kind of guy I’d ever fall for.

Not. At. All.

No freakin’ way.

Well, until Keane convinced me to fall for him, that is.

Which I did.

Hard.

Excerpt

As they exchange information, I make my way to the end of my aisle and loop into theirs, not taking my eyes off Baby Face the whole time. Shit. This dude’s hunting Maddy so hard, it’s making my blood boil. Jesus, he’s going full-throttle rifle on Maddy’s ass right now, completely foregoing his crossbow altogether.

When I reach the two of them in the middle of their aisle, I shuffle past the dude and stand next to Maddy, shoulder to shoulder, and then, on a sudden impulse, put my arm around her shoulders and squeeze her tight, making her wobble in place at the unexpected jolt to her balance. “Hey, sis,” I say, squeezing her like a rag doll. “You totally fell down on your candy-acquiring duties.”

“I know. I’m sorry.” She subtly wiggles out of my grasp. “Brian and I got into this hilarious argument about the best candy bar of all- time, and—”

“And I’m totally right,” Brian says, cutting her off, and they both chuckle at some inside joke.

“No, I’m totally right,” Maddy corrects.

Brian smiles at her. “I’ll actually be down in L.A. in a month. How ’bout I call you then?”

“Great.”

“Nice to meet you, man,” Brian says, looking at me. He nods but doesn’t put out his hand.

I nod back.

Brian strolls away, buys a Snickers bar and a can of Red Bull, and leaves with a little wave to Maddy.

The minute he’s out the door, Maddy takes a giant step away from me, her face etched with annoyance. “What was that?” she asks.

“What?”

“That weird thing you just did?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Maddy puts on an exaggerated scowl, like she’s Hulk Hogan eying an opponent. “’Hey, Brian,’” she says in a low voice, clearly intending to imitate me but sounding more like Arnold Schwarzenegger imitating Maddy imitating me. “’I’m Maddy Milliken’s bodyguard and I’m going to beat you the hell up now,’” she adds.

“What are you talking about?” I say, chuckling.

Maddy pauses, assessing me, and finally shrugs. “Nothing. I guess I imagined it.”

“Imaged what?”

“Your weird… I dunno… vibe.”

“Oh, well, yeah. I was worried about you.”

“Worried about me? I was standing in a minimart, buying candy. Pretty low-risk activity, I’d say.”

“Uh, you absolutely were not standing in a minimart, buying candy—you totally fell down on that job, dude. You were standing in a minimart, getting picked up by a douche. And second of all—”

What?”

Shit. What the fuck am I doing? I’ve got to stop this shit right now. “Don’t get riled up, baby doll,” I say in my most soothing voice. “All I’m saying is you took so damned long in here, I started thinking maybe the store was getting robbed or you’d fallen into the toilet or something.”

Maddy twists her mouth. “Brian didn’t seem the least bit douchey to me.”

I shrug.
“What gave you the impression he’s a douche?”

“Just a figure of speech. So are you gonna do the job I hired you to do or not?” I motion to the candy rack. “‘Cause based on your performance thus far, you’re totally fired.”

“And I wasn’t getting ‘picked up,’” Maddy says, her tone full of indignation. “Brian’s brother goes to UCLA. Can’t I talk to a helpful, nice guy without it being some sort of a sleazy pick-up?”

“Sure you can. However, in this instance, you were talking to a helpful, nice guy who was picking you up so he can bone the living fuck outta ya.”

Keane.” Maddy’s cheeks burst with color. “Don’t say that. Oh my god. You’re insane. Brian was just being helpful, that’s all.”

“Yeah, so he can bone the living fuck outta ya.”

“Stop saying that. Please. It’s offensive and absolutely not true. This topic of conversation is officially over.”

TBRreview

I JUST finished! Well maybe 10 mins ago.
In the start of the book, you sorta dislike Keane (at least I did), because you can’t imagine this guy is for real. Like Maddy says “he’s like Daffy Duck in Prince Charming’s body”. And boy is he. The way he talks and projects himself is what makes him unbelievable.
But just like over the course of the car trip, I learned what makes Keane tick and that made me love him! Just like Maddy. Maddy can see through Keane’s – err BPH’s persona and see the Keane underneath.
Maddy believes in Keane like no one else has. Keane has been BPH for so long, that’s all anyone sees. Until now.
A great book, hilarious characters and just a feel-good read!

5 stars!

Blog Tour ~ Copper Lillies ~ by ~ Bradon Nave

Title: COPPER LILIES
Author: Bradon Nave
Genre: NA Coming of Age
Date of Publication: February 9, 2016
In 1986, twenty-three-year-old country girl Nora Brown decides it’s time for a change…

Complacent and bored with her life in rural Oklahoma, Nora leaves her bigoted father and all she’s ever known to pursue a new life in San Francisco. At the height of the AIDS epidemic, Nora, a registered nurse, believes she can be an asset to the community. Bunking in a tiny apartment with a longtime friend, Nora secures a job within a large hospital and begins volunteer work for an organization that cares for those afflicted with the disease.

She is soon faced with the horrors of AIDS—a reality she wasn’t quite prepared for…

Just as the courageous group of caregivers and volunteers have their emotional strength depleted to the point of no return, the group rallies together and pushes forward, remembering their mission—if they aren’t there for these people, who will be?

Nora wasn’t expecting to find him here, to “fall in love among the ashes…”
Along her journey, she meets a diverse community of lionhearted survivors. And then there’s Donald, another volunteer who fights alongside those with dwindling hope. Nora and Donald grow closer as the war on HIV rages around them.
They watch their friends waste to nothing, yet no answers are being offered. The only comfort is the solace they find in each other. After months of hardships, another crippling loss shakes the foundation of Nora’s faith.
Their struggle is not only about HIV/AIDS—but about how the nation responds, and the humanistic choice to be unsung heroes.

“A beautifully written reminder that draws attention to a chronic disease that still needs to be fought on the front lines as stigma/judgment remain.” -Amy Nelson, MPH, CHES HIV/AIDS Educator

EXCERPT #1

I was lucky I had him. I didn’t move to San
Francisco in search of love. I would frown upon
someone for falling in love among ashes. Perhaps I
wasn’t actively seeking love; rather, longevity. It
seemed nothing was solidified; nothing was
guaranteed to return a smile the following day. Even
if it were not my pain, per se, to simply witness the
pain of loss from afar was enough to plummet my
ailing psyche back into the pit it was attempting to
crawl out of. Donald was my rope. A thin rope at first,
but our threads were growing in number. I had to be
sure I didn’t hang myself.
After spending the rest of the day together, Donald
and I ended our day’s adventure in the confinements
of his bedroom. He laid me down on his bed, gently
kissing my neck, and I knew without a doubt that the
interaction would go no further than heated kissing
and clothed entanglement. I made that abundantly
clear prior to his closing of the bedroom door. There
would be no raunchy stories for Gwen to salivate over
the following morning. I didn’t feel dirty, and for
once the oppression of guilt momentarily subsided. I
was allowed to find mild pleasure without feeling
disgraceful or distasteful.
His touch brought a rush similar to the feeling I’d
experienced on country Oklahoma roads with local
high school all-stars a few years prior, but there was
something much more. The physical effects he had on
my body were coupled with the idea that he might be
something solid. That he might be there day after day.
That he might not fade away.
“You’re beautiful,” he whispered.
“You’re hairy,” I replied hastily, evoking a
chuckle. “You’re beautiful too.”
“Beautiful?” He momentarily halted the tongue
massage on my neck.
“Handsome. Hairy and handsome.”
“And a distraction?”
The question caught me off guard. Initially I
assumed he’d be little more than that, a distraction. A
distraction from everything going on around me.
Gradually, I had accepted the idea that exploring
realms beyond friendship and preoccupation with this
gentleman was something I could be okay with. “No.
Yes and no. What am I?”
“A girl,” he said playfully, scanning my face for
hints.
“You’re not just a distraction. Something to take
my mind off of Buddies and the hospital, yes; but I
like you.”
“Me too.”
“You too?”
“I like you. But you’re my escape. Sometimes I
feel like there’s no escape. I can either close my eyes
and see their faces, see Toby’s face, or I can see
yours. I miss him. Maybe I miss him too much.”
His eyes were dry yet flooded with pain. There was
no way the average farm boy from rural Texas could
digest losing one of his closest friends in such a short
period of time. Had he been back home and his buddy
been killed in an accident, Donald would have had
monumental support and guidance throughout the
grief process. Here, everyone had a Toby, a Logan, all
of our friends were losing friends. Attempting to share
feelings with our social group would only add turmoil
to their grief-stricken lives.
“I can be that. I’d like to be that,” I muttered as I
kissed him.
The passion left our fingertips quicker than it
mounted in them. He ran the tip of his index finger
under my eye, tracing it to my earlobe. It was as if we
bottled the explosive emotions for another night and
took comfort in companionship. I wasn’t trying to be
a hero, but I certainly wasn’t trying to write a love
story either. At this point, I was comfortable moving
through this experience with this person and allowing
myself a temporary reprieve from my constant over
analyzing—whatever happens, happens—just let it be,
and it will be.

EXCERPT #2

Then I felt his hand take mine. Something about it
felt comforting. Comforting like the smell of baked
rolls after a Sunday stroll by the wheat fields.
Comforting like the noise of tractor motors echoing
out over an early country Oklahoma summer morning.
It felt like home. It hit me then; Donald felt like home.
Not the bad parts of home, the blessed parts. The parts
I longed for in my dreams. Selective memory can be
an ass sometimes. The warmth of his hand, his firm
grasp—so confident and unwavering, reminded me of
the country roads I loved. The ones I missed. The
ones that subtracted the cynical and led to graceful
fishing ponds and green fields clad with Holstein
cattle.
I squeezed his hand gently, assuring him I didn’t

find the advance to be creepy. I knew the chocolate

and wine would always be there, and good books
were in no shortage. I didn’t need clichés. I certainly
didn’t need to be one. I just needed to be comforted,
and Donald did that with a simple gesture that seemed
to change my frame of mind entirely. Had the two of
us met in different circumstances, the ‘spark’ might
have advanced much sooner. Something about
seeking love or even committed companionship on a
romantic level while wading through turmoil and grief
seemed off-putting, in poor taste, or even impossible
for some to psychologically digest. I allowed my
weathered mind to momentarily desist.
Looking upon the group of dancers in front of us,
dancing in a novice-fashion to Patsy Cline, I rested
my head on his shoulder. As his cologne entered my
nostrils, I felt him gently kiss the top of my head. That
was it; I decided then that he would lead. I didn’t care
how well he danced.

EXCERPT #3

The building smelled of stale cigarettes and
mildew. Prior to witnessing the shocking details of the
illness stapled to many patron’s faces, I took note of
the irony while walking into the meeting. The
members were seated in discarded church pews. So
much judgment and homophobia flooded from the
doors of many of the churches back home, yet their
retired property served the ‘sinners.’ The ‘sinners,’
some sad, some skeletal, all desperately clinging to
every word spoken into the raggedy microphone. A
few of them had raspberry-colored lesions on their
faces, necks, foreheads, and other exposed areas—
Kaposi sarcoma. I’d seen the pictures of ‘Gay Cancer’
years earlier in the newspapers, but seeing this
ailment merely feet from me sent an ache through my
psyche. They weren’t sinners, at least not any more
than I was. They were scared. I was scared. And I was
angered. It was in that moment I knew I’d waste no
more time attempting to converse or reason with the
ignorant bigots—the men and women that smiled and
praised this horror as a ‘sign of the times.’
When he smiled at me and picked his brochures up
for me to sit next to him in the pew, I literally wanted
to cry. I wanted to hug him.
AIDS; hearing it said aloud on the news and
primetime specials on television put a deep, stigmadrenched
fear
in many people. As I looked at him, a
man more than likely my age, I didn’t see anything to
be scared of. His mannerisms and the way he quickly
avoided eye contact gave me the impression that he
was self-conscious, fearful of how I would respond to
his offer to sit. This is why I wanted to cry. This man,
nearly a boy, was riddled and depleted to a state of
fragility that left him resembling a victim of end-stage
anorexia. He was faced with death, a cruel death of
wasting and withering to nothing. He was faced with a
disgusting hate from many of his fellow Americans—
a hate that would no doubt be written in history books
one day. He wasn’t a cancer patient, surrounded by
loved-ones whilst cloaked in a symbolic cape of
heroism. Oh no, to so many he was the symbol of
death, of fear, of sin and of disease. Not to me. I only
saw an insecure human that could possibly benefit
from my smile and my handshake.
That was the light. The dark, dreadful light—a
small glimmer attempting to point me to my role in
the war.
As I sat by him, I gently touched his shoulder as
my backside met the cold pew. He smiled once more
as I extended my hand to greet him.
“I’m Logan,” he whispered. His tight skin
appeared almost incapable of completely covering his
eyes and teeth. His diminished profile and defeated
slouch left me drowning in a dreadful state of sorrow.
I was quick to remind myself that this was not about
me or my feelings. I wasn’t the one facing death.
“Logan, I’m Nora. This is my first time here.
Thank you so much for letting me sit with you, I’ve
been on my feet all day.”
“Don’t mention it. Depending on what day you
come, this place can get wall to wall.”
“When is the best time to come?”
“It just depends on who passes that day. Or if
anyone passes at all.”
“Passes what?”
“Dies. If quite a few pass, it seems to draw a bigger
crowd. It’s a good chance to remember them. We
light candles and pray.”
I knew then that Logan must have prayed to the
same God I did. I touched him on the top of his frail
hand in a gentle manner. “Where did you get the
handouts?”
“Right where you walk in. Gwen, the blonde, is
standing by the table.”
“You know Gwen?”
“For sure. Everyone knows Gwenny,” he said
softly, smiling again as he looked toward the floor.
The thought of anyone being mean to this person
made absolutely no sense to me. He seemed so kind.
He must have been horrified—not the kind of horror
one might endure whilst being chased by a dog, or
narrowly escaping a car accident alive—a chronic
horror, of which there is no escape. He had to watch
his friends waste and die right before his eyes. All the
while, knowing that their fate was his own. How
could one not commend his bravery?
“Have you always lived here?” I asked.
“Oh no. I’m from Ohio. I came out here when I
was sixteen.”
“Sixteen? You come with your parents?”
“Parents? I don’t have those anymore.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. Awful human beings. The only thing
that separates us from animals is our ability to love
unconditionally. Once that’s gone, we’re nothing
more than animals. I’ve said that so many times, but
the last thing I remember seeing when I left their
home was our dog, Tork, wagging his tail and
following me. He loved me. He loved me
unconditionally.”
“Dogs are great,” I said solemnly. I was at a loss
for words, incapable of comforting him. All I wanted
to do was make some piece of his story a small bit
better, and I didn’t know how. He was the first of
many encounters that would leave me dumbfounded,
but most importantly, he was the first. The moment I
stopped thinking about it, my natural ability to
comfort my own species took over. He continued
looking toward the floor; occasionally he would look
at the speaker near the front of the room. As
background music began and the congregation began
singing some song I’d never heard, I gently placed my
arm across his shoulders in a soft, one-armed
embrace—patting the shoulder farthest from me with
my hand.
Like a parched sponge, Logan seemed to readily
absorb my offering of kindness. Leaning into me, his
eyes swelled with tears, his thin bottom lip quivered,
and he cried. We cried. I offered him a full embrace.
This man, this stranger, was so deprived of affection it
seemed to overwhelm him.
As I cradled the crying man, I looked about the
room. My actions had caught the attention of some
onlookers. Some of us were advocates, familiarizing
ourselves with what we needed to advocate for; some
of us were educators, unsure of what we were
educating on; and some of us were dying—of what,
we didn’t understand. But through the mixture it
remained completely clear: we were all humans—
frightened, fragile humans.

wants or can solve.

Chad Fornelli was used to a life of sacrifice, as a former ATF ordnance

saying goodbye was not the hardest part of the day for Chad. It was seeing his
friend’s widow and remembering how he let the woman he loved two years earlier

Full of regrets over missed chances, he vowed to correct his past mistakes.

Dani Turner had watched the man she love walk away two years ago and now buried
her husband. Wondering if she and Chad had another chance together, she was
willing to see if they had a future. But…her little surprise might change

The investigation into the explosion that killed Adam had Chad racing against
the clock to stop an ISIS cell in Virginia from building more bombs. And
evidence pointed to his friend being involved with the terrorists.

and Chad worked together to prove Adam’s innocence…and save her life.

As an Amazon Best Selling Author, I have always
been an avid reader. I joke that I “cut my romance teeth” on the
historical romance books. In 2013 I started a blog to showcase wonderful
writers. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for
their story to be told. Thus, Emma’s Home was created.
My first novel, Emma’s Home became an Amazon Best
Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was
followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love’s
Series.  From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez
Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series, all
bestsellers.
My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex;
mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas,
take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with.
I worked as a counselor in a high school and have
been involved in education for the past 30 years.  I recently retired and
now can spend more time devoted to my writing.
I have been married to a wonderfully patient man

AP new - excerpt.jpg

“You’re not engaged anymore.”

I don’t know what possesses me to say that, but it’s the truth. The second she took my kiss I marked her as mine, and whatever this animal is inside of me, the one that she’s awakened, he will destroy any and all obstacles that try to stop him from taking what is rightfully his.

Mine.

Fucking seriously. Twenty minutes ago, I was settled on the fact that I would probably die alone. A fucking hundred-year-old virgin. And now I’m ready to skin any mother fucker that might even dare to think they have a claim on her. This sweet pink wink that’s sitting on my desk like a ripe little cherry waiting to be picked.

“What?” She tips her head to the side, and her cheeks plump out with a smile that nearly empties my balls into my pants. “Yes, I am. I’m engaged. For real. I have a fiancé. And so I suppose I’m a cheating whore right now.”

The way she talks makes me want to wash her mouth out with soap and pinch her cheeks with a bawdy laugh. Not only does she look like no other girl I’ve ever seen, she doesn’t talk like any I’ve ever heard. And trust me, I’ve heard plenty in this business. She’s clearly no whore either, and I highly doubt she’s even clear on the meaning of the word.

The sound of the words “fiancé” and “whore” on her lips makes me want to throw her over my knee and spank those thoughts out of her. No fucking way is she engaged. I can see it in her eyes; she’s as fresh as a Sunday afternoon in spring. And if she really belonged to someone else, she wouldn’t have kissed me like she just did. I can taste something in her, something familiar, something I’ve been waiting for my whole life. So whatever this engagement bullshit may be, I’ve just added it to my to-undo list.

“Do you kiss him?” I grumble because if any other word comes out of her mouth but ‘no,’ I may just come apart.

She wrinkles her nose at me; she’s thinking about what to say and I know the answer right then.

“Naw,” she says shaking her head. “It’s kind of a strange set up. It’s my family, they are very…” She bobs her head side to side squinting one eye. “…traditional.”

That’s all I need to know.

I shift closer, splaying her knees farther apart and her eyes go wide. They are silver-gray, wrapped in a cord of black. Alabaster skin just waiting to be tasted, framed by long tresses of amber waves. I’m admiring every inch I can see, memorizing it for later because I intend to map her with my tongue until I know where I’m kissing with my eyes closed.

“Are you going to make me orgasm again?” she chirps, turning her head up to smile at me, as she leans back on locked arms, swinging her feet back and forth.

I do my best to hide my bewilderment over this funky cherub. She’s sugar and spice and everything that I didn’t know I wanted, all wrapped up in mismatched Rodeo Drive clothes.

“Orgasm?” I lean forward, my hands flat on the desk next to hers, my torso twisted in knots, trying to hold back all the things I want to do to her. The sound of that word on her lips sends my craving into the stratosphere. “You want me to give you an orgasm?”

“Yes. That would be nice.” Her eyes flash from excitement to fear. “But I shouldn’t.”

“Yes you should. Someone should give you orgasms every day. Multiple times a day.”

“Oh wait!” She leans back and forth trying to see around me. I’m still stuck on all the ways I’m going to give her the orgasms she wants, but from what I can tell, my May’s attention span is flashing on and off like one of the strobe lights on the dance floor. “Can you grab my bag from over there? I brought you something.” She bites her bottom lip and my dick weeps but I can’t say no.

I twist and reach down, grateful that I don’t have to step out from between her knees to pull the Marc Jacobs Sapphire bag up from the floor. It’s another side effect of being around all these women for all these years. Purses are big talk and I can’t help that I fucking know this shit. Besides, I bought all the girls Marc Jacobs’ bags for Christmas last year, so I know far more than I wish to about fucking handbags.

It must weigh as much as she does and it’s nearly as big. What a little thing like her needs with a purse big enough to carry a full grown pit bull I’m not sure, but from the excited look in her eyes I don’t much care.

I sit the bag down next to her and she giggles, pushing her hair behind her ears and making this little enthusiastic eeeeep sound.

“This is weird, right?” She rustles around inside her bag, her voice rising, and pulls out a gift box with a lime green satin ribbon tied around it. “I mean, I’ve never applied for a job before. And, well, I just met you and you kissed me, and that’s sort of weird.”

Her eyes come up to meet mine, and I nod because I can feel that she needs my agreement as she works through whatever is happening here.

And this whole situation is pretty fucking weird. But I’m fine with weird as long as it involves her.

TBRreview

This book was astounding, in a good way. How taken Deck was with May just upon seeing her is something I like to see. And the fact that he was a 36-year old virgin, was surprising but sweet.

May came into his club looking for a stripper job but ended up meeting her destiny. She doesn’t know what it is but Deck holds her attention like no other. She is just trying to earn money so she can get her and her sister Leah away from Simon and his son Victor.

When Deck finds out the hold Simon and Victor have on May and Leah, he immediately swoops in to take care of “his” woman.

A great, quick, sexy read!

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.

I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.

He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.

So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.

When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.

I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room.  Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.

But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.

My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.

I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?

Then again…

What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

EXCERPT

“Sorry, I wasn’t looking where—”

I froze.

The sight of Chase standing there was almost enough to knock me over. I’d secretly hoped to see him, yet never thought I actually would. What are the chances? I did a double take, sure I was seeing things. But it was him all right, in the flesh. And what flesh it is. Standing there shirtless and wet—wearing nothing but a pair of low-slung swim trunks—he had me stuttering. Literally.

“Ch…Ch…Ch—” I couldn’t get the word out.

Of course, Chase didn’t miss a beat. He smirked and leaned in. “You do a cute train impression, Buttercup.”

He remembers me.

I shook my head, attempting to snap myself out of it. But it was no use. He was so tall, and I was so short, I had no choice but to stare at his body. Water trickled down his abs. I was mesmerized watching it speed up and slow down as it crossed the rippled lines of his six-pack. Damn.

I cleared my throat and finally spoke. “Chase.”

I was pretty freaking proud of myself for getting that much out. He had a towel slung around his neck and lifted it to dry off his dripping hair, revealing even more flesh. His pectoral muscles were carved and perfect. And—oh, my God…is that… Holy shit. It is. His nipples were cold and erect, and one of them was….was…pierced.

Aly
I’m the princess, at least that’s what my family believes. In their eyes, I can do no wrong. I was tired of trying to be perfect, so I left. I moved across the country and opened Illusions with my best friend. It’s not your average upscale nightclub. What happens behind the scenes is where I get to go from princess to vixen. I never ran into any of the gentlemen that came into Illusions in the real world. Until him. Now, I’m in serious trouble. Not only is he a repeat customer, but he is my brother’s best friend and business partner.
Cole
The stress of opening the new office finally got to me. I’d heard about Illusions, an upscale nightclub, in the middle of town. I went for more than a drink and found the one woman I can’t get off my mind. I’d give anything to see her again. Turns out that isn’t too unlikely. I didn’t expect her to be my best friend and business partner’s little sister. They call her the princess, but to me, she is my kitten.
“You want a kiss that makes you feel like you are flying?” I ask, speaking barely above a whisper.
“Uh huh,” she says.
“Explain.”
“I always thought that it would be the most romantic feeling to kiss among the clouds. Since I can’t fly, and I will never, and I mean never jump out of a plane, a kiss that felt like I was flying was as close as I was going to get,” she explains.
“How long have you wanted that?” I can’t help but smile. There is something about these innocent confessions that makes me want to be the romantic man that can give her what she wants.
“Since I was a little girl. When I was little, I would lay out in the backyard and look up at the clouds. One day, when I was laying out there, I saw two birds flying together and I thought it would be the most amazing feeling.” Sighing, she snuggles in closer to me.
Author JC Thompson was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Where she currently lives with her high school sweetheart, two little girls, and five furry kids (3 cats and 2 dogs). JC loves to read romance, the smuttier the better. She is a self-proclaimed book addict that likes to get lost in a false reality anytime possible. When she is not getting lost in reading, she is getting lost in writing, or spending time with her family.

Excerpt

Fuck this.

I stalked forward.

My hand came up.

The urge to soothe her catapulted my fingers to her cheek. My skin erupted from her delicate heat. I’d already had my single touch when I’d petted her hair. I wasn’t permitted a second.

But it didn’t stop me.

One second, she stood close, arching her chin at the door.

The next, she was across the cage, flying into a stack of boxes that tumbled in a clatter of butcher knives, butter knives, and sharp forks.

Her eyes turned luminous in the gloom, locking on mine with rage.

Shit.

I’d forgotten myself by feeling sorry for this beaten wraith, but she hadn’t forgotten her overwhelming hatred of men.

I didn’t look away. But I didn’t explain myself, either.

I’d borrowed her for the night. If I wanted to touch her, I could. The fact that she’d leapt away meant I could report her to her master and have her punished.

Or you could punish her instead.

The distance between us grew thicker as we breathed fast.

I waited…wanting to know just how deep her education in pleasure flowed. Tearing her gaze from mine, she swallowed hard. Piece by piece, she hid her loathing, replacing it with reluctant acceptance.

Inching closer, her toes nudged aside sharp blades as she made her way to me and fell to her knees on the cold concrete.

Half of me jolted with insane lust. Most of me shied away with repulsion as her straggly hair covered her face but not before I saw the twisted disgust and echoing despair.

“Get up,” I murmured. Even though my voice was low, the cavern of the garage amplified it, layering it with bite.

Instantly, she swooped up. The crackle of her joints and misused cartilage in her bones sounded like tiny gunfire.

“Don’t kneel. Not in here.”

She was flustered. I could tell from the pitch of her hips and the tone of her voice. I loved how I already could sense her emotions. How I felt like I had the pad of my finger pressed into the pulse of her feelings.

“I don’t want privacy. Not from you, Adeline. The rest of the world, fine, but the last thing I want from you right now is for you to give me some privacy.”

Following her into my walk-in closet, I hovered in the doorway. She knew I was there, so she hung my suits and kept turned away.

“I wanted to take a shower first. I wanted to change into something different.” She pinched the hem of her dress, lifting it as she inspected it like it was subpar. “I wanted to get all ready for tonight, to be ready for you.”

My throat tightened at her words. “The woman standing in front of me right now is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. There is nothing you could do to be more beautiful than you are right now.”

She let the hem of her dress fall, inspecting her palms. Adeline’s hands were strong and had the calluses to prove it. To look at her, she was as fragile as a bird, but to know her, she was the strongest thing around. “I’m plain. Perfectly ordinary. You don’t have to try to convince me otherwise. I’m happy with who I am, but please don’t lie to me. You don’t have to tell me I’m beautiful to get me to sleep with you. I already agreed to that.”

How could she not see it? How did she not know? Moving closer, I fought the urge to wrap my arms around her and pull her to me. “I’m telling you that because it’s the truest thing I’ve ever known. Not because I’m lying to you or trying to get you to sleep with me or any reason other than because it’s the truth.” I let my hand slide around her waist.

She trembled but didn’t shy away. “I wanted tonight to be special.”

Unable to fight the urge to be near her, I stepped closer until my chest was pressing into her back. My perma-hard dick jutted between us, nudging her in the ass. She flinched, but instead of moving away, she moved closer until her soft, full backside was pressed into my crotch.

A ragged breath hissed from me when I felt the warmth of her skin through the material of her dress, heating my cock. “This is going to be special no matter how or where we do it, no matter what you’re wearing or not wearing. You’re giving me the gift of your virginity. That’s special.”

Sliding her hair behind her back, I lowered my mouth to her neck to taste it. She gave a little whimper when I sucked at the delicate skin. I knew I shouldn’t have, but damn, I couldn’t help putting my mark on her. She tasted just like I’d expected—sweet like cherries, with a hint of innocence.

“I’m about to put my baby inside of you,” I breathed against her. “That is the most fucking special thing in this whole world. Just relax, baby. This will be special. This will be perfect. Because I’m sharing it with you.”

She started breathing faster when my arm wound around her, securing her tiny body against mine. Her heavy chest spilled out above my arm, making my balls ache with what I’d built up just for her.

“I don’t know what I’m doing,” she whispered even as her ass started to wiggle up and down my length until her cheeks were essentially fucking me through her dress.

My hand curled into a fist, my teeth gritting as I forced myself to hold off. It would serve no purpose to cum all over her ass when I was trying to get her pregnant.

“I don’t think I’ll be very good at first. Just tell me what to do . . . show me what you need.” Her breathy voice, matched with her ass working me over, became too much. I had to step back to keep from losing it all over that pretty floral dress.

“Adeline, baby”—I twisted her around so I could look in her eyes—“you are perfect in every way. From the way you smile to the way you laugh to the way you’re going to fuck. Enough worrying. Just relax and let me take care of you.”

TBRreview

I LOVED the premise of this book!  It’s not often that the man wants a child so badly he is willing to find any way for that to happen.  Well at least not to meet any sort of will stipulations to have an heir.

Abel knows exactly what he’s looking for and that’s Adeline.  And strangely, without meeting each other, Adeline is just as certain of Abel.  But she can’t let Abel know that.  Abel is prepared to take care of Adeline and not just because she’s going to be the mother of his child…

I loved this quick read!  I read it before bed and it was a perfect length!

5 stars!
