Excerpt Reveal ~ Dear Bridget, I Want You ~ by ~ Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland

Dear Bridget,

I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.

So, here goes.

We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.

But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.

I want you.

The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.

So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.

No questions asked.

Think about it.

Or don’t.

Whatever you choose.

It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.

–Simon

Every time I considered leaving my room, I would grab the framed picture of Ben and stare at it. The urge to go to Simon was so strong; I basically hadn’t put down the framed photo of my deceased husband in an hour. I was lying in my bed, holding a picture of a dead man while fantasizing about one who was very much alive and in the other room. With the door cracked open waiting for me. There was one part of Simon’s note that I just kept reading over and over.

I want to make you come. Hard. I want you to get lost in me and I want to hear you say my name over and over while we fuck.

While we fuck.

While we fuck.

I was pretty sure that Ben had never used the word fuck like that before. Did we even fuck? We made love, sure. Our sex life was normal—at least, I think it was normal. Don’t get me wrong, the passion wasn’t the same as when we first got together. But after ten years, both of us working full time and raising a child, it was normal to have some of the desire dwindle, wasn’t it?

While we fuck.

I looked at the picture of my husband and sighed. We didn’t fuck. Not even in the beginning. And I felt guilty for that now. Maybe we should have been fucking. I certainly didn’t do anything to entice him to want me the last few years. Was it my fault our sex life had gotten boring? I rested the picture of Ben over my heart and laid my hand over it. I could feel my heart beating out of control beneath my fingers.

Shutting my eyes, I tried to force thoughts of Simon from my mind. But it was no use. Visions of his hard, sculpted body hovering over me had infiltrated my brain. So, here I was, a thirty-three-year-old, single mother lying in my bed all alone with a picture of my dead husband held to my heart while I visualized fucking another man.

Fucking.

Not making love.

I needed my head examined.

After two hours and no sleep in sight, I decided the only way I was going to be able to get any rest was if I got everything I was feeling off of my chest. Flicking on the light, I carefully set the framed photo of my beloved Ben on my nightstand and then opened the drawer and dug out a pen and piece of pretty stationery. I would write down my thoughts to clear my mind. I had no intention of actually giving the letter to Simon, so there was no reason to filter anything I said.

Dear Simon…

Review Tour ~ Lust ~ by ~ Emma Hart

LUST2New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, brings together two polar-opposite single parents in the second book in the sinfully sexy Vegas Nights series.

Detective Adrian Potter had a lot to answer for. I didn’t care that he was tasked with shutting down the city’s most prolific hookers.

I cared that he was stopping me from providing for my daughter.

He didn’t care.
Not at all.
Until I broke down in the backseat of his car… And he let me go.

Adrian was a single parent, too. He knew how hard I had it. At least, he thought he did.
He had a job. He had people who cared. He didn’t know just how lucky he was.

My name is Perrie Fox.
I was a whore of the highest value.

Until Detective Adrian Potter.

Until the tattooed, redemption-seeking detective entered my life, looking for his fairytale.

The cop and the hooker.

Happily ever fucking never.

You’ve met one Fox sibling.
Now meet the other…

(LUST is book two of the Vegas Nights series. While it is a standalone, the time frame does overlap with scenes in the previous book, SIN. You can, however, read LUST without reading SIN.)

I couldn’t NOT read this at work. I had to know about Perrie and Adrian’s story! And little Lola!! And Zac, they killed me!! They were so stinking adorable! And I loved that they didn’t want to meet each other and then they were as thick as thieves, even when their parents (well Perrie) didn’t want to be around the other.

Perrie and Adrian are 2 total opposites. In one of the longest wars: prostitute vs cop. But Perrie isn’t like what Adrian expects. And Perrie doesn’t expect to actually like Adrian and little Zac. Nor does she expect Lola and Zac to be the best of friends ever.

I think I liked Perrie’s story more than Damian’s. I just liked Perrie and little Lola more. But as with all Emma Hart books, a fantastic read!!

5 stars!

Excerpt

“Climb gates around here often?” he asked, no censure in his voice. I realized he spoke English as fluently as he spoke Spanish.

He was clad in navy basketball shorts, a pair of Nike running shoes and he was just sweaty enough for me to realize he’d likely been working out. I swear I was hypnotized by all of his exposed skin, so much so that I could just about remember my own name at that moment. I’d have blamed the fall for my dazed and confused frame of mind but that wasn’t it at all. It was purely because of him—the sexy Spanish-speaking god who’d saved me from certain harm. My eyes trailed along his muscular but lean body hungrily as I catalogued just how ridiculously gorgeous he was. I was hypnotized by his six-pack and the set of V-cut muscles I had an insane urge to trail my fingers over.

I’d have kept right on staring had he not cleared his throat. I cringed as I came back to reality and realized he’d asked a question I hadn’t retained.

“Um, huh?” I asked, perfectly clueless.

“I was asking if you’re a professional gate climber,” he said huskily.

“No, I—”

“She’s really fine after a fall from that height?” the officer asked as he came through the gate.

“She never hit the ground,” my savior said, “since I caught her.”

The cop looked almost as impressed as I felt. I’d have heaped praised onto the stranger who saved me had I not remembered that I needed to be focused on a more pressing concern.

“So now that I’m on this side I really need to get my—”

The officer pinned me with a look that left no doubt that he was in charge. “Miss, please remain silent while I work out what’s going on here.”

I pursed my lips and tried to contain my annoyance. I knew he was just doing his job but all I cared about was finding Elvis.

The officer turned back to the Spanish model—I naturally assumed he modeled because he looked like he belonged in sensual looking black and white ads for men’s cologne. You know the kind of ads I’m talking about, right? There’s always a sexy guy giving you the let’s have all the sex look with a set of eyes that are clearly attempting to hypnotize you into buying something.

He was at least six feet tall and had a head full of thick, dark hair. His face was perfectly proportioned from forehead to chin, and I could find nothing that didn’t appear to be symmetrical. He had a ridiculously sexy closely trimmed beard that I wanted to trace with my fingers and his jaw was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. I turned crimson when my eyes trailed up and met his and I realized he was observing me—which meant he knew I’d been staring at him. Again.

I bit my lip and tried not to blush as I blinked like an idiot. I was relieved to have a reason to look to the police officer when he cleared his throat to get our attention. “Are you the one who called about the disturbance down the side of the house?” he asked.

I couldn’t resist the urge to let my eyes wander back to the Spanish god. I knew just enough Spanish to determine that if his looks were rated on the salsa scale he’d be called el más caliente.

His eyes were on me as he answered the cop. “My brother called, yes.”

“What’s your name, sir?”

“Alejandro Cruz.”

Even his name was sexy. My skin felt hot and prickly under his gaze. Anxious for a reprieve, I looked back to the officer.

The cop nodded as he took note of it on his pad. “And your brother’s name?”

“Rafael Cruz.”

“And you?” the cop asked with a head nod toward me.

“Kaya Porter.”

“Can you spell that?”

“K-a-y-a,” I answered.

“That’s a weird name,” the officer said as he wrote it down.

I wasn’t sure if he was being rude or not so I shrugged and said nothing. Alejandro growled something under his breath that I couldn’t understand. A shiver went down my back at the way the words rolled off his tongue. His Spanish accent fascinated me. I’d never been one to care one way or the other about a man’s voice, but his did things to me. I wondered if audio erotica was a thing. If it were, I would pay a subscription fee to hear him talk all day.

“So were you trying to escape or get in?” the officer asked, ruining my good fantasy about an Alejandro Cruz dirty talk subscription service.

“I was trying to get in,” I answered stiffly, annoyed that the officer had already forgotten everything I’d said, “I told you—”

“No, no, she is not the disturbance,” Alejandro interjected. “My brother thought someone was trying to steal God only knows what from the exterior of the house. He was asleep and heard something outside his bedroom window and panicked. He shouldn’t have called the police—it’s animal control that we need. Some dickhead bird went through the trash that my brother forgot to secure and he’s been leading him on one hell of a chase around the yard.”

My eyes narrowed and my hands went to my hips as I stared down the model. “Don’t talk about my little buddy like that,” I snapped.

Cover Reveal ~ Snake ~ by ~ Lilly Atlas

Title: Snake
Series: No Prisoners MC #5
Author: Lilly Atlas
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: October 31, 2017

Grimm Brothers MC president, Snake, battled his way to his position by any and all means necessary. He was powerful, respected, commanding; but most importantly, he was feared. Then, at the height of power, one ruthless misstep crumbled his kingdom in an instant. Beaten within inches of his life by a member of a rival MC, betrayed and left for dead by his own club, Snake has only two things left to focus on: healing and revenge.

As a physical therapist working in the trauma unit, Amanda thought she had seen it all. That is until she met a patient known to her as Nick, a broken man who had sustained the most severe beating she’d ever encountered. Surly, brooding, and angry, he should be a nightmare patient. But under the rough exterior, Amanda couldn’t help but be drawn to his determination to heal. Not to mention he was ridiculously attractive, to the point that she found herself giving him some extra attention.

Women like Amanda—kind, sweet, intelligent, independent, respectable—don’t exist in Snake’s world. When she offers him a place to live after his hospital stay, he can’t figure her out. The more time they spend together, the more torn he becomes between two realities: a gruesome MC world full of lies, betrayal, and hatred, or a life with Amanda that promises healing and peace.

As Snake helps Amanda through some troubling times, passion flares. For the first time in his life, he actually cares about a woman. It’s enough to make him question everything. But after leading a life as a dedicated outlaw, is it too late to turn around? And if not, is he willing to leave his vendetta behind?

Chapter One

“He still alive?” The pissed-off voice cut through Snake’s hazy confusion.

“Think so. The bastard makes a wheezy, gurgling noise every so often. I’m surprised he lasted the whole trip. That big man worked him over good. His face is unrecognizable,” a second voice, as well-known as the first, yet not identifiable, said.

“That was Jester,” the first man said. The high pitch, almost whiny quality of his voice so familiar, but just on the edges of recognition. In fact, both voices seemed to hover on the outskirts of Snake’s reality. Like they were coming from a television. Present, but not real.

Pain, however, was there in real time. That was for damn sure. But even the hurt was difficult to place. It seemed to come from every pore in his body. But that wasn’t possible, was it?

“What’s the plan here, Casper?” A third man, also a familiar voice, spoke up.

How did he know these men? Maybe he should say something. Ask for help. With the level of pain, he was experiencing, something was obviously wrong. Snake moved his mouth to speak, but the only noise that came out was a garbled mess of unintelligible sounds.

And then the pain localized.

Holy shit, his face throbbed like it had been pounded repeatedly with a sledgehammer. Inside his mouth, his tongue occupied the entire cavity like an air-filled balloon, making speaking near impossible. He dragged in a breath, but the air met resistance before it ever reached his lungs, blocked by a throat that felt swollen shut. Choking coughs racked him, jacking the pain to an almost unbearable level.

Snake’s brain registered the things happening with his body like a laundry list of items, and it recognized that he should probably be in panic mode, but that was as far as it went. Everything else was fuzzy and he couldn’t get himself together enough to make sense of his reality or actually care about the seriousness of the situation.

“Toss him down the ravine. I’ll fire a couple slugs in him. See how overgrown it is down there? He’ll rot out here long before anyone ever finds the body.”

It was the higher pitched voice that spoke. Casper, another had called him. God, that name…it was dancing on the edges of Snake’s diminishing consciousness. So memorable… Was he a family member?

“You got it, boss.”

Rough hands grabbed under his shoulders, jerking him forward and then he was airborne. The weightless flight couldn’t have lasted more than five seconds, before a crushing jolt and the insane sensation of the world spinning out of control ensued.

Laughter rang out from a distance. “Shit, brother. Look at him roll down that ditch like a fuckin’ sack of potatoes. You probably don’t need to waste any bullets, Casper. No way he survived that trip. It’s what? Thirty feet. And with all those rocks and branches. Something musta smashed in his fuckin’ skull.”

“Yeah, well, Snake’s a slimy bastard. I want to be one hundred percent sure. Can’t have him slithering back into our lives six months down the road,” Casper replied.

After what seemed like an excruciating eternity, Snake’s broken body slammed against something hard and the tumbling stopped. His head was still spinning out of control, but at least the physical movement stopped.

He tried to move, tried to lift a limb and open his eyes, but there was a disconnect between his body and his brain. None of his muscles obeyed commands and all he could do was lie there, a giant, vulnerable target.

A pinpointed, hot, burning pain bloomed in his thigh, followed by another in his shoulder. Bullets. Hadn’t they said they planned to shoot him?

Odd.

He’d been shot before and it had hurt like a sonofabitch; a lot more than it did now. His brain must be pretty fucked up not to be registering the pain of two bullets. Of course, the rest of his body was one giant ball of agony. Maybe there was a limit to how much pain the flesh could experience. Maybe after the body hit the pain ceiling, it no longer registered something new.

Snake thought he’d known pain before, but it was nothing compared to this full body tormenting sensation. He’d taken bullets, survived knife wound or two, and experienced betrayal. A man didn’t live his kind of life without pain.

His kind of life…

Casper.

Recollection was right there. If he could just reach out and grab the fuzzy memories.

“Nice fucking knowing you, Pres.”

The words were called out about three seconds before a final hot flash of pain entered his side. Gut shot. The fatal blow.

Pres…

Casper…

As the darkness behind his closed eyes grew even blacker, realization dawned.

President.

Grimm Brothers Motorcycle Club. Sandy Springs, Arizona.

Casper. His long time right-hand man. Close and trusted friend. Brother.

Reality faded into the distance, taking some of the pain with it. Would there be peace in death? Not for him. Not going out this way. There were men who had to pay whether now or in the afterlife.

Men like Casper.

His loyal vice president.

A murderous traitor.

TBRreview

I loved this story! Yes, it’s different from the norm of Gen Ryan but I loved it nonetheless!

Melanie is a crack-up. Even when she’s trying not to be. But that just makes her more funny. She’s decided that she’s going to be a surrogate for her former exboyfriend and his husband. Which is a huge undertaking normally but especially so since her ex broke up with her to finally accept he was gay. So that’s a big deal but Melanie handles it like a pro. She’s there for friendship and that’s what she’s got with them.

Wouldn’t you know it that the OBGYN helping Melanie through this process is a super hot doctor that Melanie can’t get out of her mind. So there’s a great start to a relationship. But it’s a great and funny ride!

A fantastic story from Gen Ryan!

5 stars!

He didn’t care.
Not at all.

Adrian was a single parent, too. He knew how hard I had it. At least, he thought he did.
He had a job. He had people who cared. He didn’t know just how lucky he was.

I was a whore of the highest value.

Until Detective Adrian Potter.

Until the tattooed, redemption-seeking detective entered my life, looking for his fairytale.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Back on stage, Gage instantly starts heckling me about where I was with Crystal. I don’t bother telling him I wasn’t with her because he sure as shit won’t believe me. He’s one of those guys who latches onto something and won’t let go. Like a dog with a bone, he’ll keep needling me until I give him the juicy details. Only this time, there are no details to give, but that doesn’t matter. He’ll just accuse me of keeping my dirty little secrets to myself. We’ve been down this road before.

Grabbing my guitar, I give it a quick tune, making sure everything is just right. Dexter starts tapping out the beat on his drums, and Andy and I join in on guitar. Gage belts out the opening notes of “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash and the crowd goes nuts. It’s not the typical rock music we usually play, but when we find a good song that the fans love and we enjoy playing, then we go with it.

After another two songs, it’s time to slow it down. Gage heads off stage to take a quick break, and I step up to the mic. I usually sing backup, but for three songs during our show, I take the reins and sing lead vocals. This song is one of them. It’s my favorite song to sing because it’s Abby’s song.

Way back when we were in grade school, I caught her humming it as we walked home from school. She was going to help me work on our Constitution assignment at her place, which happened every week or so. That particular day, she was quiet, lost in thought, so I let her be. Suddenly, she started humming, and it didn’t take me long to catch on to the tune. She had the voice of an angel, I remember thinking, and wanted to beg her to sing something for me. I had already discovered my love for music, but knowing that Abby shared this passion with me was like kismet. When I asked her about it, she just shied away and hid behind her books. I went home and started working on that song on my guitar. It took a while, but eventually, I got it down, and have been playing it ever since.

I start strumming the opening notes of Jeff Healey’s “Angel Eyes.” Continuing to play the song I know by heart, I scan the crowd until I see her, standing in the back, a soft smile on her face as she sings along to the song. Everything and everyone around us just fades away. It’s as if we’re the only two people on the beach. The way she watches me kicks my heart into overdrive, because I know, when it comes to this song, she only has eyes for me. Not that I want her eyes on me or anything. I mean, we are just friends. But if it were something more than friendship, then I’d be the luckiest son of a bitch to have her there with me.

Closing my eyes, I sing the words I’ve known by heart for fifteen years to my best friend. I can picture her out there saying the exact same words at the exact same time. We’ve sung this song together for years. Not publicly, of course, because she’d rather strip naked and do the chicken dance in the rain in the middle of Main Street than to get on stage and sing. In the privacy of her apartment or mine, we’ve belted out the words on several occasions. Abby actually has a beautiful voice. She just refuses to let anyone but me hear it.

When I reach the end of the second verse, I open my eyes and scan the crowd. She’s still there, standing in the same spot, watching me and singing along. I give her a knowing grin as I finish off the song strong, singing it for her. For her because she loves it, not because it means anything more than that. She’s my friend, remember? We’ve covered this.

Why does it feel like I’m completely full of shit?

TBRreview

Have I mentioned that I love this series?? Because I do! Between the 6 Summers sisters, their monthly Summers sister nights and their zany grandparents, there is nothing about this series I don’t like!

After reading the other 2 books, I was dying for Abby and Levi’s story. So I’m glad it was the next in the series. Abby has had a crush on her BFF Levi for years. But she knows he doesn’t see her that way. He’s used to the groupies he picks up at his band’s gigs. So finally Abby decides she’s not to going to wait anymore.

Levi has been best friends with Abby for years but more recently, he’s been noticing her more and referring to her as his girl. At least in his head anyway. He doesn’t want to screw up their amazing friendship but he wants to try and see if they have a relationship potential.

Such a sweet, funny, relatable story. And the crazy Emma and Orval. I love the Summers family!!

Heat consumed him as he walked into the hut. Connor had been sweating all day from the relentless sun beating down on the unsubstantial roof. As it was only June, the worst was yet to come. In December, the opposite happened, and it was cold here. The conditions in medical outposts kept getting worse with the constant bombings. And even though he’d been in Syria six months, he still wasn’t used to how the weather drained him or chilled him depending on the season. Five boys sat on a cot next to each other in the exam room to greet him in this tiny village on the outskirts of Aleppo. “As-salāmu ʿalaykum.” The children responded in kind.

He picked up one boy’s arm and winced. The angry sores oozed with pus. He pointed to the boy’s wound area and the other four boys lifted arms affected by the same rash. He could tell this wasn’t poison ivy, impetigo, fungus or shingles. What the hell was it?

“Bug bites.” The words came from behind him. He turned to see a vision amidst all the squalor and sickness. Black as night hair, pulled back in thick knots. Raven brows arching over huge nearly black eyes. “I said those are bug bites. I had a rash of them, pardon the pun, on the Eastern side of the city.”

“Ah. Thanks.”

“A salve of…” She went on to give him the ingredients but he was distracted by her husky voice. “Doctor, are you listening to me?”

“Um, no. Who are you?”

“Calla Gentileschi. Dr. Calla Gentileschi. I’ve been transferred to your area.”

“How do you pronounce your last name again?”

“In Italian, it’s Gen-tee-less-ski. But most Americans use till for the second syllable.” She smiled. “We’re from a sovereign state off the coast of Italy.”

“You don’t have an accent.”

“Our schools teach English in addition to Italian.”

“And you came to this village to help out?”

“Yes. You lost some personnel this week, I understand.”

“We did.” They’d put in their time for the grueling work. Connor himself had signed on for a year.

She said, “I brought my translator, too.”

“Oh, thank God. I’m drowning here. And not being able to communicate is part of the reason.”

“His name is Razim. He’ll be right in…oh, here he is.”

A tall, skinny Arab man walked up to her. Razim had dark hair like the beautiful doctor and sported even darker eyes. He said to her, “I cannot find the supervisor.” His English was accented but perfect.

She smiled at the young man and he smiled back. “Razim, this is Doctor…what’s your name?”

“Marino.” Connor held out his hand. “Connor Marino.”

“Nice to meet you.”

“Supervisor’s here,” someone called from outside.

“I will be right back.” This from Razim before he left them.

“Where are your supplies?” Dr. Gentileschi asked. “I’ll make the salve for you. I’m assuming you’re equipped like we were and have the materials on hand.”

“We got restocked yesterday. We were lucky the planes got in.” He couldn’t help but grin at her. “But I should learn, so come on, I’ll show you where the room is.”

He yelled to a nurse across the way. “Could you keep an eye on these guys while I make a lotion?”

The nurse stepped to the tables.

He led Dr. Gentileschi to the back and unlocked the storage room, which was the size of his walk-in closet back home. It held medical devices, drugs, vaccines, and even condoms to distribute to the men here.

The door slammed behind them.

Connor grabbed onto the woman.

The room shook!

Again. And again.

She clutched at him.

Silence.

A cacophony of noise exploded.

They both startled.

It lasted only about a minute. Dirt and concrete rained down on them. She sneezed and Connor coughed.

She looked at him. “An attack, right?”

“Yes.”

“Oh, no. Razim is out there.”

Connor whipped open the door and they both raced through it. Shambles. Noise from around them: some shouts, some crying, some low and mournful moans spreading over the whole compound. The concrete and dirt had formed a small hill separating them from the treatment area. Connor leaned down. “The debris is hot. Be careful.” He took her hand as they climbed over it, only to find nails and glass and other rubble.

“Those were barrel bombs,” she said as she went with him.

They finally got back to the examining area.

Callandra Gentileschi gasped.

He murmured, “Dear Lord in heaven.”

She grabbed onto his shoulder and buried her face in his back. He couldn’t witness the ravaged bodies of five boys and the nurse for long, either. Turning, he took her into his arms, felt her grasp his shirt and bury herself in his chest. Connor shut his eyes, closing out the misery.
