Eric
I live my life by a certain standard. There are right and wrong ways to do things, and I always make sure that I’m on the right side. My brothers call me a wet blanket. They say I’m buttoned-up, boring, and that I don’t know how to let loose. There’s a reason I’m that way, and she just walked through my door. With one wild night, I’ve thrown all my moral guidelines out the window. Now I’m stuck with her and there’s no possible way this could work between us. We’re complete opposites in every way, but damn she’s sexy. Not that it matters. There will never be more between us. One of us will end up killing the other first.

Kat
After a long shift in the cancer ward at the children’s hospital, I just want to let loose. My friend set me up on a date, and I gladly took it to let off some steam. I’ve got a fun outfit and I’m ready to let loose. But my one night of fun was spoiled the minute he walked through that door. I was just looking for a good time, and I got him instead. He’s good-looking, but that’s about all that he has going for him. He’s not at all my type, and now he seems to think that I’m some loose whore. It was one night! But I’m stuck with him, so I have to find a way to make this work. If I don’t figure out a way to make the man loosen up, I’ll go insane.

I’m a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, “No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book.” I didn’t think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn’t already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven’t been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.

Goodreads – “Absolute perfection here folks! So good! Definitely a must read!”

Brittany’s Book Blog – “This story was certainly romantic and very unique and I loved how the relationship between Gretchen and Weston developed.”

Goodreads Review – “This book is fantastic!
Loved this so much and was lucky enough to read it very early on.
Weston is super swoony.”

For fans of The Ground Rules trilogy, Weston is back, and naughtier than ever, in this sweet and steamy boss secretary romance.
Gretchen Morris is barely thirty, yet she’s already a widow. Ethan, her two-year old boy, is the light of her life. This is it for her. She will never love anyone like she loved her late husband, Donovan. Every hour, he’s in her thoughts, in her heart, not letting go. She’s completely shattered because he’s gone, and every single day, she must live with the knowledge that she’s the one to blame.
She’s nothing but a hollow shell, going through her life on auto pilot, trying to be strong for Ethan, but failing miserably. She’s looking to become self-sufficient again, to head back into the job market and start a new chapter.
Surprisingly, all it takes is one jolt to bring her back to life; an opportunity to work with the reclusive wealthy man in the penthouse upstairs.
Weston Hanson is odd, beautiful, sweet, playful, and unlike anyone she’s ever met before. And he’s as broken as she is. He’s lived a man’s worst nightmare, gone through a divorce, and let go of a woman he loved dearly. He’s still obsessed with this woman and cannot move past the regrets in his life.
Can two people fall in love if their souls are full of broken memories, and their hearts are still held captive by others?

“Thanks for the flowers. You shouldn’t have.”

“It’s my pleasure.”

“But this is getting kind of silly, Weston,” I say. “I know it was in the agreement that you could get me gifts but—”

“They’re just flowers, Grasshopper.” He stands and walks toward me. My whole body turns on every time he’s within five feet of me. I love it, but I also kind of hate it. No man has ever had this effect on me. Not even Donovan.

He takes my hand. “They were offered in apology. I’m not quite sure what I’m apologizing for, but last time we played, I upset you.”

I shake my head. “No, you didn’t.”

His brows furrow. “Don’t lie to me. I study people, Gretchen, and I’m very good at reading them. I knew you wanted me the first time I looked into your eyes, and I also know I upset you. You need to tell me what the matter is because I don’t want any secrets between us.”

I blow out a breath. I’m clearly not getting out of this.

“You’ve disappointed me.”

“How so?” he asks with wide eyes.

“I didn’t realize you were the kind of man who could be unfaithful.”

He shakes his head. “How do you mean?”

“The woman you mentioned…” I clarify. “The one you’re trying not to think about. Is she the reason you divorced your wife?”

He hesitates a long beat before speaking, and I wonder if I’ve just hit the nail on the head.

“Kind of… she had a lot to do with our separation,” he confesses. “Quite a lot in fact.”

“Were you having an affair with her?” I ask, desperate to know.

“No,” he says. “Not really. Not in the traditional sense.”

What the hell does that mean?

He blows out a huge breath. “Are you sure you want to hear this?”

I don’t hesitate to answer. “Positive.”

Series Tour ~ Certified Playboy Series ~ by ~ Scarlett Avery

Series: Certified Playboy Series

Titles: Roderick ~ Lochlan ~ Holt ~ Jace
Author: Scarlett Avery
Genre: Enemies to lover/single dad romance

NOTE: Certified Playboy Series was formerly known as Torrid Series.

Roderick Wolfe…

He’s a former rock star who’s still viewed as a music god.
The quintessential playboy who’s hotter-than-sin and impossible to resist is also my best friend.
Rod has me locked in the friend zone. I’m just a sidekick to him, but God, I crave so much more.
I want to be the one he looks at with lust in his eyes. The thought consumes me, but I suppress it.
My conflicting feelings for my best friend could jeopardize a decade-long friendship. I can’t risk that.
Maybe unrequited love isn’t so bad after all…
Loki Berkshire…

There are some unwritten BFF codes… abiding rules, you might call them.
No one has to speak them.
You just know.
Like coveting my best friend’s older brother. Bad idea.
Wanting to kiss him more than I want to take my next breath. Really bad idea.
Making him the star of my naughty dreams. Plain stupid.
Fibbing about him being my boyfriend to ward off an annoying suitor. Admittedly, not the brightness plan.
I never expected the sexy playboy to find out in this humiliating way…

The first time I met him, his arresting blue eyes were enough to make me lose my head. But of course, I kept it together.

I’m a professional and fooling around with a client is a recipe for disaster.
Holt Christensen is off limits.
The second time I meet the gorgeous single dad playboy, he boldly offers to tie me down.
How did we go from hello to Fifty Shades of Grey in a New York minute?

Jace Halsey…
It seems I’m the only sane woman in LA who’s immune to that self-important man.
Even my big sister swoons all over him.
It makes me sick.
Truth be told, I want nothing more than to annihilate him because he’s always in the way. Never mind he has no clue of my existence, he’s still the thorn in my side.
Just when I’m certain I’ll have no other choice but to live in his shadow for the end of time, I get my big break.
Of course, I should’ve known he’d find a way of ruining it for me.
Not only do I have to share the freaking stage with the single dad playboy, we’re going to be rivals? On national TV?
I declare war!

Her confused gaze meets mine and I smile wide. I tuck my phone inside my inner pocket and approach her.

“I think the producers booked me on the wrong date,” I say.
“Wrong date? What do you mean?” she asks.

Someone’s on edge.

I give her a deliberate onceover. “I didn’t realize today’s show was about Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover models,” I smile.
“Hmph,” she pulls up her lips in an unimpressed curve. Most women would blush. Some would giggle. At least, laugh. Not her. “Cute, but don’t you think it’s a little overused?” the blonde asks.
I distinctly pick up on a bit of sarcasm.
Okay, perhaps not my best line, but what’s up with the hostility?
“It was meant as a compliment,” I say.
“Thanks, but not very original.” Ouch. “Just like, ‘Heaven must be missing an angel’.”

Okay. This one is going to be a tough nut to crack.

“Let me start over,” I say. “My name is Jace Halsey,” I extend my hand. “And you must be the lovely Eliana Pomeroy––the other guest.”
She looks surprised.
“You know my name?” she asks, shaking my hand.
“Of course. My publicist sent me a dossier––”
“That sounds top secret, don’t you think? It’s just little ol’ me… it’s not like I’m an undercover agent of a covert operation.”

Down, woman.

This conversation started on the wrong foot.
“I’m sorry. It feels like we have history together. Have we met before? I apologize in advance if I don’t remember.”
“Wow, you must meet a lot of women.”
I ignore the insinuation.
“I do. Just like I meet a lot of men. It’s part of the profession.”
“I bet,” she sneers. “We’ve never met. Not that you’d know who I was without that dossier.
“On the contrary. I know exactly who you are,” I say.
She crosses her arms over her chest and adopts a defiant stance. In doing so, the lapel of her jacket opens slightly, revealing her best assets.

Very. Nice.

“My eyes are up here, buddy!” she snaps.
My gaze bounces to her narrow hazel green eyes.
She’s shooting daggers at me.
This woman went from stranger to enemy in a New York minute.

Bookish Banter – “All I have to say is, WOW.
I have never read a Brooke Summers book before, and I have to say that I was more than presently surprised.”
Readyourbooks – “I’m just…speechless? Yup.
This age-gap, dark romance gave me red puffy eyes, raw emotions, anger on all the unworthy pieces of meat breathing in the world & the harsh reality of such things happening to people out there with no one to help them.”

Goodreads Review – “Brooke Summers, You NAILED it with this book. I freaking loved it.”

I feel physically sick after hearing what Reli has been through. When she opened the door I bit back a curse as I took in her face. The split lip, the bloodshot eyes, not to mention the bruises that shine brightly on her face. She took a beating last night or this morning. A severe one by the looks of things. I need to get her to a doctor. Preferably a hospital but I’m not sure she’ll go for that.

By the looks of it, it looks like she has taken years of abuse both physically and mentally. What she’s endured makes me want to track Talia Maine down and kill the bitch. Talia and her minions have turned a girl that was broken hearted from losing her father into their fucking slave. They’ve made her life a living hell and I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure that they get the same in return. I’m going to fucking ruin them.

“Is this happening every day?” I’m not sure how I’ve managed to keep my voice calm and even but I’m fucking glad. The last thing Reli needs is my anger, it’s not directed at her, but she’s been mistreated so badly that she’d probably think it was.

She wrings her hands together and shrugs. Something passes through her eyes and I realize that she’s not told me everything. I can’t push her, if I do she could close up, or run and she’s too frail to go anywhere.

“Reli, talk to me. I want to help.” I plead with her, I’m not used to feeling helpless and right now, there’s nothing that I can do. I want to pull her into my arms and hold her tight, but she’s fucking seventeen.

The sheer sadness in her eyes makes my gut clench. “You can’t. No one can.” She shifts in her seat a strangled cry springs from her lips as tears form in her eyes.

Fuck, “Reli, you need to see the doctor. Will you let me bring you to the hospital?”

She nods, her entire body shaking as the tears fall down her face.

Thank Christ.

I quickly push the button for the intercom and speak to my driver. “Lance, take us to the hospital.”

“Yes boss.” He replies instantly.

He’ll take us to a hospital that I trust. One that we use for my men if we’re injured. Where I know they’ll keep this shit quiet.

Reli leans back against the seat and closes her eyes, her face tense and full of pain. I hate seeing her like this. I need to comfort her. I unsnap her seat belt buckle and her eyes pop open, the fear in them has me fighting back a curse.

“Let me help you.” I murmur and she just stares at me as I reach for her. I pull her into my lap and she shuts down even more. “Reli, I’m not going to hurt you.” But my words fall on deaf ears, she doesn’t know that, she doesn’t really know me.

I hold her close, needing to feel her in my arms. “Where are you sore the most?” I ask her, she’s barely able to breathe without wincing.

“My back.” She gasps as Lance takes a sharp corner and she’s jolted in my arms.

I ask her if it’s okay to have a look. I need to see what’s wrong with her, she nods turning her head away from me. I lift up her top and my jaw clenches at what I see. Black bruises run from the top of her neck to the bottom of her spine.

Oh God, what on earth has this woman been doing to her?

“Reli, why didn’t you tell me about your back? What did she do to you?”

Looking back at me, she licks her lips, her eyes wide with fear. “I don’t know,” she whispers and I frown, how can she not know? “Yesterday…” she begins softly and my body tenses. “She hit me…”

I’m Brooke, I’m a Londoner born and raised. I live with my fiancee and our daughter.

I’m a foul mouthed, dirty minded weirdo.

I’m an introvert who would rather spend the night in front of the fire reading than go out.

We both moaned when my center came in contact with his erection. Even through two layers of clothing, it was a heady feeling.

I undulated my hips on top of him as we continued to make out, slowing working us both into a frenzy.

Zeke ripped his mouth away from mine. “We need to go inside.”

I nodded even though I wasn’t sure what he was saying. I was too focused on pulling his lips back to mine.

“Delaney,” he said between kisses. “Let’s go in.”

He gently pushed me away and stood. I pouted as I stood too. He quickly got out and wrapped his towel around his hips before helping me out and hangin me my towel.

I quickly dried off and walked inside, the head of the cabin beckoning to me.

Once inside, I didn’t waste any time dropping my towel and stripping out of my bathing suit, leaving me naked.

I turned to face Zeke and watched as he drew the curtains. I got a great view of his face when he turned around and realized I was already naked.

“Hot damn,” he muttered and tossed his own towel to the side. His finger immediately starting working the laces of his bathing suit while his gaze raked over my body. I used the opportunity to look at him as well.

My heart ssped up at the thought of everything coming together right now. I’d wanted this for so long and now that it was happening, it was surreal, and I wanted to remember every part of it.

Every kiss. Every caress. Every whispered word. I wanted them all.

Zeke’s bathing suit dropped, and my gaze immediately zeroed in on his dick, which was pointing toward the ceiling.

I whimpered as I looked at it. Moisture was beading on the tip, and it looked like the perfect dick. Especially since it was attached to the perfect man.

A few minutes later, we were parked outside the cabin, and Zeke had our bags in hand while I swiped the keycard for the room. It took several tries to get the lock to open, something that annoyed me to no end.

After discovering everything with the reservation, the door not working was just one more thing to add to the list of why I was upset with my life.

Once the door was open, I stepped to the side and allowed Zeke to go in first before flicking the light switch by the door and letting the door fall shut behind me.

I turned toward the main part of the cabin and drew up short when I noticed Zeke standing frozen with the bags still in his hands.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, walking closer.

“Uhh…” Zeke said, shifting his weight from side to side. “Is there supposed to be only one bed?”

I cringed. I didn’t tell him what happened with the reservation while we were in the car. He deserved to know that I hadn’t changed it like I told him I would.

“Well…I didn’t realize until I went to check in that I forgot to call them to let them know that the reservation needed to be changed. I couldn’t change it today because it was too late.”

Silence greeted my words, and I worried my bottom lip and dropped my gaze to the floor. “I’m really sorry,” she said when Zeke continued to say nothing. “I thought I’d called, and I didn’t. I can’t believe that I forgot to do that simple thing. Don’t even get me started on the excursions we have booked because—”

I jumped when Zeke pressed a finger to my chin and tilted my head up. He was grinning. “Don’t worry about it. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to sleep in the same bed as the Delaney Carrigan.”

My face heated. “Oh, uh…”

“Come on!” Zeke said, pulling me into a hug. “It’ll be fine. Nothing to worry your pretty little head about.”

He released me and turned back to pick the bags up and stepped further into the room.

With him out of the way, I could see what gave him pause. It wasn’t just the single king-size bed in the room. It was the rose petals that were littered all over the bedcovers and on the floor.

They were everywhere. As I stepped closer to the bed, I cringed as I realized they were even in the shape of a heart with a small card in the center. Though I knew I shouldn’t, I picked it up. It read “Congratulations on your marriage!”

I stared at it for several long moments, my mind flashing back to when Josh told me he couldn’t marry me.

“Whatcha got in your hand?” Zeke asked.

Before I could crumple the card, Zeke plucked it from my fingers. I watched as his expression darkened. “Fuck him.”

He ripped the card in half, then ripped it again before tossing the pieces in the air. I watched them flutter toward the floor.

“You’re better off without that douche-canoe. Seriously. What guy breaks up with the supposed love of his life only days before their wedding? Asswads, that’s who. Don’t waste another minute worried about him.”

I nodded. What could I say to that? It wasn’t anything I didn’t already know and that Zeke and my family hadn’t already said. Josh was an asshole of the first order for what he did to me.

It didn’t make it hurt any less, though.

“Right, let’s get unpacked and look over what we’ve got going on this week. Maybe we can add some things to do instead of what we’ve got on there. What do you say?”

I nodded and felt myself relax. “Sounds good.”

Zeke turned and grabbed his bag, unzipping it while I stood there, frozen.

While he’d made me feel better about the rose petals and the asshole ex-fiancé, we hadn’t addressed the elephant in the room: the single bed.

Yeah, Zeke joked that he’d always wanted to sleep in the same bed as me, but I knew he said that to make me feel better.

How were we going to make this work?
