I didn’t think she could blush anymore, but her cheeks turned a dark shade of red, and she nodded yes. “I felt that I needed to broaden my horizons and figured that would be a good place to start.”
“Well, how about you broaden your horizon with me tonight, and you can pick back up with your badminton practice next week?”

I beamed with pride to hear him say such nice things about me.

And with that, the two of us stared at the metal doors in front of us, neither one of us speaking. It was an uncomfortably silence, the air suffocating. Shit, I had forgotten to speak to maintenance about the air situation in the elevators. My bad. Now I had no oxygen to inhale whatsoever, my lungs dying to take their next breath. It could be that the intense chemistry between us had depleted what little air we had left to breathe. It’s too bad the elevator didn’t have emergency oxygen masks like airplanes did. One might’ve been helpful about now.

I tried to think of something good to say, my body too afraid to move. And just when it came up with something, I turned to say it and found myself flush against the wall in the elevator with Derek’s tongue down my throat, my mouth openly giving him access while the rest of me screamed to push him away.

Holy shit!

What we were doing was so wrong, but at the moment I didn’t care, because Derek Dorian wanted me, yes, me. Besides, it was the hottest kiss I had ever experienced, his lips softer than I had imagined. The way his tongue took charge, a bit more domineering than any mine had ever played with. Mind you, I could count on one hand how many there had been. But my tongue loved every second of it.

His body caged mine, our movements desperate, frantic, as if we were long-lost lovers who had finally been reunited. We couldn’t press our bodies closer to one another if we tried, and yet, my mind and body ached for more, needing a deeper connection to him. The throbbing between my thighs became more intense as our kiss progressed, especially when he ground his hardness against me. Fuck my vibrator, I could tell Derek would satisfy me so much better. Screw that, beyond words better.

Shit. I couldn’t allow myself to have an orgasm from a kiss and simple rubbing. If I was being totally honest, suggestive, heat-induced, and mind-blowing better described our actions.

I melted into his touch. I’m talking pure goo, jelly in a jar. I held on to his arms, my legs too weak to keep me upright.

Elijah took my hands. “Okay, look. Maybe you’re right. Maybe these people are taking this whole battle thing way too seriously. If you’re scared, then we’ll stop. No more posts except for appearance information.”

“So no more battle of the sexes, no more make Kris scream?”

He held up his hand. “Swear to God.”

“Okay.” I sighed in relief. “You’d really do that?”

He leaned closer and repeated the vow. “I promise, Kris.”

And just like that, I forgot why I was mad at him. I couldn’t talk, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t even blink because I was afraid he’d let go. This was the part of him I adored. I clung to him for a long moment, and when his gaze drifted to my mouth, I wondered if—hoped—prayed—he’d finally kiss me.

And then, Etta’s voice suddenly spoke inside my head. “Well, my God, darling, it’s the twenty-first century. What on earth are you waiting for? You can kiss him.”

I could. Yes. Yes, I could just lift my head and lean in and kiss Elijah Hamilton like it was a normal, ordinary occurrence.

Right. Like kissing Elijah Hamilton would ever be ordinary?

I’d watched him kiss that girl at the mall and was sure I’d memorized all the steps in his routine. “I’m not much of a liar, no.”

Grandma Helen’s Rhubarb Crumble

 

Preheat oven to 350

For crust:
1 1/2 cup oats
1 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour 
1 cup shortening (I use coconut oil)
1/4 teaspoon baking sodaCombine until crumbly then pat half of mixture into 13×9 pan

For filling:
5 cups rhubarb
1/2 cup sugar
3 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water

Combine in a pan and cook until clear then add 1 teaspoon vanilla
Pour over crust and sprinkle the other half of the crumbly crust on top.
Bake 20 to 25 min

His eyes heat, darken. “You. Always.” He inches back and looks at me. “You’re mine. Mine to protect.” His voice is low, fierce, and he grips my panties and yanks them away. “Mine to fuck.”

I gasp and grab his shoulders. “Shane.”

His answer is to wrap his arm around my waist, pull me close, his cheek against mine, his fingers pressing into the V of my body. “Wet, just the way I like you,” he says, pressing two fingers inside me. “Wet for me. And too fucking perfect for my sanity sometimes.”

Seeming to know what I need, he cups my head and kisses me, long, slow, sensual strokes of his tongue that somehow make every touch of his fingers more intense.

“Come for me,” he murmurs, and this time when he kisses me, I start climbing that wall to release, and I’m there at the top in an instant. I stiffen while his fingers and tongue tease, please, and then I jerk, I’m over it, tumbling in an instant into shudders and shakes. Shane’s lips lift from mine as he breathes with me. His fingers slow as he eases me through the waves until I collapse against his chest.

He tangles his fingers in my hair and drags my mouth back to his. “And no one but me will ever make you come like that again,” he declares, the waves of his emotions beating down any embarrassment I might feel over having had an orgasm on his father’s desk.

Lisa Renee Jones and this series does not disappoint!! You think you know where it’s going and you have no idea. Shane is getting deeper and deeper even though he does not want to become what his family is.

Emily is trying to keep Shane from going to the dark side. She’s always been the good in his life and she’s determined to not Shane go. She has been his calm in the chaos of his life but it’s a hard one for her.

And one heck of a cliffhanger! I swear I’m going to have to read all 3 parts before the final book just to keep everything going and the story right in my mind.
